When I went into Dostal Eyecare for my appointment, I found Dr. Budrie very open and helpful. However, she and everyone in the office seemed rushed. Very efficient, but very rushed. Granted, my appointment was at the end of the day, so maybe this accounts for the coldness and impatience of the staff. They were on their cell phones behind the desk. They didn't seem at all kind or welcoming. Just efficient and rushed. read more

After carefully looking at reviews I decided to make an appointment for an eye exam at Dostal Eyecare with the sole intention of getting an updated prescription so that I could get new glasses. I was totally blown away by the level of attentive customer service. I felt very much attended to and was also quite comfortable with the Covid preventative measures in place. A simple vision check up turned into a life altering experience for me. Dostal Eyecare invested in special equipment back in October to detect different kinds of vision problems that are not normally tested for at an optometrist office. After doing some very interesting testing I was given a diagnosis of exphoria. I was offered a reasonable price for special lenses that would help to correct but not cure the condition. After doing extensive research on this condition a I realized that I checked off all the boxes for exphoria. I have been struggling since childhood with poor coordination, poor visual memory, difficulties with reading comprehension, very slow reading, and a lot of organizational problems. During the last several years I've been reading with one eye closed because otherwise I have double vision and the words move around the page. More recently I have been dealing with intermittent vertigo which is another symptom of this vision issue. Because this condition started in childhood it seems somehow normal to me. If I hadn't gone to Dostal Eyecare and had a screening with them I never would have known that I have this condition. I've decided to get vision therapy in addition to getting special glasses. With a combination of both approaches I am likely to have significant improvement with this condition. I am eternally grateful to Dostal Eyecare for diagnosing me and helping me to understand that I have exphoria and how I have been impacted by it. read more

Truly excellent optical office. The folks here are kind, professional and have safety and cleanliness as the top priority. I got in and out no problem. They figured out that I DID have insurance, even though I thought I didn't, and that was just so awesome. Every person I interacted with was kind, smart and knew what they were doing. I was told what was happening before any interaction, and I never felt uncomfortable at all. They have updated machines here that make many of the old, unpleasant methods of diagnostics outdated and unnecessary. While my eyes were dilating, I was offered a personalized shopping experience with an optician who was a total joy, and together we picked out a new pair of frames that fit both my face and my budget. I will 100% be going back to get an extra pair! I love supporting small business and these guys make it easy. Highly recommended. read more

I had the eye exam and, based on them checking the strength of the glasses I was wearing, was told that there was a considerable change in my vision. Based on that diagnosis, I purchased 3 pairs of glasses (regular, sun, and work glasses to use in my office) opting for progressive lenses but being told that should I want to go back to bifocals it would not be a problem. All three pairs had to go back to adjust the focus. When the new glasses came in I was extremely upset to find that my old glasses had better focus than the new ones making me question whether I really needed new glasses. The progressive work glasses were impossible for me to use so I wanted to have them replaced with bifocals. Even though progressive lenses are more expensive, they wanted to charge me $25.00 more for the bifocals. At that point I wanted to give them back the glasses and get my money back but they said they wouldn't charge me the $25.00. When the bifocals came in they still out of focus and at that point I just left their office in frustration. The bottom line is that, after spending a considerable amount of money, I never really needed new glasses because my old glasses, which I am still using, work better than the new ones. It seems to me that this office is more interested in selling you glasses, whether you need them or not, rather than truly servicing their patients needs. I would not recommend this optician to anyone. read more

I just started going here and I couldn't be happier with my experience! From the moment I walked into the door and dealt with Dr. Dostal's amazingly warm and friendly staff I knew I had made the right decision! Dr. Dostal exceeded my expectations by taking his time with my exam and making sure I knew all of the options for both contacts and glasses. I also came back for a contact recheck and let them know that I had to be somewhere at a given time. They went out of their way to make sure I was in and out in record time. I also got my contacts delivered to my home within 2 days of them ordering them for me! I have been singing from the rooftops about this place and think everyone should go here!! First prescription was bad with double vision, no mid range vision, and a floating sensation that made me want to puke. The frame sales lady said: "Oh you need to wear them for a month and get used to them." After complaining three times and threatening to go see another eye doctor, they agreed to make a second appointment. Second prescription is now worse than the first ! Same floating sensation and rectangular objects (such as my computer screen) appear trapezoid shaped. I got the impression, of RUSH RUSH RUSH and that I fell into a Special Mass Healthcare category. As i was using Mass Healthcare. i plan to go see another eye doctor and pay cash !!! My vision is better without any glasses at all than the prescriptions I received at Dostal eyecare. in·com·pe·tence = inability to do something successfully. read more

Loved this place!! I was able to make a last minute appointment here when I realized my eye insurance was ending this week. Dr. Dostal and his team were flat out the best optical practice I have ever been to (I've been wearing glasses/contracts for 15 + years). Bill worked with Dr. Dostal performing exams and obtaining my contact information & Ali helped me pick out the best glasses for my needs and budget. They were super friendly and accommodating, I felt like I got an extremely thorough exam and everything was explained to me clearly. They also printed out everything my insurance covered and listed out my options for pricing based off of what I was looking for. I HIGHLY recommend this office! read more

I have to start by saying I think Doctor Dostal is great. He is skilled and patient and really knows his stuff. The lacking part is the entire rest of the practice. I have had no less than four problems in two visits, one involving billing, two involving triple-booking appointments and then falling 3 hours behind by the end of the day and the last is the general incompetence with the staff itself. Bill at the desk really doesn't seem at all involved in what he is doing, almost as if his duties are a bother. The rest of the staff seems to walk in circles and shuffle papers, while whispering to each other while the last of the staff isn't around. I honestly am disappointed that this staff has replaced Dr. Kos', who was small but effective. Because of the policy of triple booking, I am leaving the care of that office for any other. I was made to wait over 2 weeks for an "emergency" visit for an eye injury. When I spoke to the doctor about this and the other problems, he wrote it off to a bad day. I am not so easily dismissed. Today's billing problem (they charged me and my insurance for a workman's comp visit after they initialed and copied the forms for my file. When I called, Bill said "that's above my pay grade. you can just call our billing office and straighten that out." That would be when I pointed out they already did have it in my file, and that HE should be the one getting things straightened out. About 5 minutes later, I got an apology and an "I will take care of this, since it appears we really do have what we need to straighten this out." That was the last straw. I can deal with minor incompetence with the staff is a doctor is stellar. Since I am paying (or my insurance company is) I would expect to be treated better. The last experience and the easy dismissal just tells me he doesn't really care about his patients, but about pushing as many people through the office as he can. My 3:30 appointment took until 5:45 when I was seated, then another 20 minutes while he dilated my eyes and then another 15 for the results. Over 3 hours to check for emergency eye damage 2 weeks after the injury. Please decide for yourself if you think the pain dealing with the staff and waiting hours past your scheduled appointment are worth dealing with a very good doctor. Hey just wanted to let everyone know that I had a great experience at Dostal Eyecare. I chose them because they're a local business rather than a big chain. I needed two pairs of glasses and a perscription pair of sunglasses. Frame selection was good, actually stepped out of my comfort zone a little bit. The glasses I got were progressive lenses. Everything was done to my satisfaction. Dr. Dostal has a really nice way about him. The staff was friendly, and I got my glasses done on time and the way I was promised. I'm glad I decided to use a local eyecare place and would encourage anyone to give Dostal Eyecare a try. read more
