I needed a fast appointment for contact lenses so I booked a virtual eye doctor appointment. It's essentially the same as a standard appointment except that your eye doctor interacts with you over a video monitor. I thought it was pretty cool, but I like high-tech things. I had to go back for a follow up after my initial appointment because my contact lens prescription needed fine-tuning. It's not unusual for that to happen. The staff is really helpful there. Everybody has been very considerate, not to mention knowledgeable. Jenn helped me picked out glasses that looked good and felt good. I'm very happy with them. read more

STAY AWAY!!! We brought a pair of glasses in for repair. The hinge had been stepped on but the lenses were fully intact. We handed them to the front desk, who took them into the back office to determine if the hinge could be fixed. When they brought them back out - they had popped out one of the lenses and insisted that I was wrong when I said they had had both lenses in them when I handed them over. They said they couldn't fix the hinge, and because of the missing lens - which THEY REMOVED THEMSELVES - would have to fully replace them with a new order. I asked them to check for the lens and the doctor who received them from the front desk insisted that the lens had been missing from the beginning. They completely gaslit me in order to use the warranty plan we had paid for to get reimbursed in full instead of simply switching the lenses out into a replacement frame. COMPLETELY OUTRAGEOUS. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE. INSURANCE FRAUD. GASLIGHTING. SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN FOR THEIR CROOKEDNESS. read more

I stopped in to make an appointment while I was in town, but they were booked and couldn't see me before I left town. The office manager.(can't remember her name, but she had long blonde hair.) was super friendly, explained everything and answered all my questions. when I get home, I will be looking for the location nearest to me, I hope the experience is as good as what I experienced at this location! read more

I came to this shop after it had closed. They opened the door and asked how they could help me. I'm not even a customer of theirs and needed a difficult emergency repair on glasses I had bought online from another company. They let me in and helped me immediately and cheerfully. This is one of the great things about life in Northampton. Perfect repair...and they even gave me some eyeglass cleaner and a cloth. Very kind courteous service! We'll be back! read more

I started visiting this office back when it was owned and operated by Dr M. Erb many years ago. I always (!) experienced top-shelf service and never experienced an issue until they started to transition to MyEyeDr. The few times I have been into the office since, I have experienced some really poor service. At first, it was OK because some of the staff held over during the transition but my last visit (Dec. 2022), I had to wait a VERY long time in the waiting room for my appointment; almost to the point of me walking out. I finally saw Dr Steven Vachula and he not only barely looked at me, but he fuddled with his touch-pad computer nearly the entire time. The visit took SO long and he paid so very little attention to me that I was about to call it a joke; but it wasn't! I've learnt that Dr Vachula has been transferred to the Amherst office but the overall experience with MyEyeDr has made me seek out a doctor that isn't aligned with that company. Optical Studios (as it was known) was absolutely top-shelf and -- at least of Dec 2022 -- it was absolute crap. read more

Somehow my old review got deleted, but this office is literally the worst. Every time I have an appointment, I will end up waiting literally an hour to see someone. I had a similar experience to another reviewer, Jontathan K, with Dr. Vachula. He wasted my time. The whole staff will just leave you in the small dark office for an hour with no update as to when the Dr will actually see you, just to spend 5 minutes with him fumbling on the i-pad. This office gave me great service by replacing the lenses in my old frames. First I had ordered the new lenses which they were fine with...most shops would grumble a little if you don't get new frames there as well. Then I stepped on my glasses by accident: they were able to repair that immediately while I waited, no cost. A few days later I received a text that the new lenses were available. Upon arriving at the shop, they were able to transfer the new lenses into my frames immediately. Overall cost very reasonable as well. I was also provided with cleaner and a wipe cloth, cost included. Thanks, staff! read more

This used to be a really good and reliable, kind opticians office, now it has been bought out by a mother company that sucks. I was over charged, They asked me if I wanted an additional exam for $30 for enhanced tests, I said no. Health New England pays for a yearly exam and I didn't have money for extras, then they came out with a bill for it, instead of taking the amount off, they billed me for it and it appeared as a $40 copay, as it exceeded the simple exam. It took me almost six months to get it taken off. They were rude as well. I would never recommend this or go back again. read more

Incredibly rude customer service. I walked in to look at some glasses and one of the people working there immediately came over and said that my face was too big for my current glasses. What business of that is yours??? How do you expect to make money when your employees insult would be customers?? It's a shame as they have some nice frames. Messed up my insurance, didn't understand the prescription and was just absolutely insulting and demeaning to me over the phone. I have NEVER had such bad customer service in my life!! I used to go to this location when it was the Optical Studio and it was amazing. This location was purchased by a national conglomerate called Myeyedr. I went to this place for new glasses and it is horrible. The selection of glass has diminished significantly. The fun and unique frames Optical Studio used to have are not replaced by frames that are cookie cutter and appeal to the masses. I ordered my glasses and asked that the lenses be the same type that I previously owned. The opticians had the glasses that I was asking them to replicate, and they had the information in my records from when the glasses were made and they still couldn't get the prescription right. I came back to pick up my glasses and found they were wrong. I told the manager of the store Samantha, and she didn't listen to me when I was telling her what I wanted and needed. I asked her to have her supervisor call me, and the supervisor never did call. I ended up calling the corporate office in VA to finally get the correct glasses. DO NOT GO THERE. Find glasses somewhere - ANYWHERE else. read more

The amount of waiting time is far too much. I had an 11 AM appointment, arrived on time, waited 30 minutes to see the tech for her pre-test work, and at 12:20 still had not even seen the doctor for the exam and was just sitting waiting more in the exam room forever. They had a bunch of customers in the store and appear to book too many people for appointment times, leading to excessive waiting. The staff are nice and helpful, and at least apologetic for all of the waiting. Who has 2 hours for a basic eye exam? read more
