I believe the hesitation was to consider if it was "safe" to make the joke that he did. The shop is not a large space and I did not want to lose my temper and escalate anything, so I pretended to laugh and told him I needed my relatives' approval before buying anything. Well. I have a lot of racist relatives. They would defend this man. I won't. I will not give him money, theirs, mine, or anyone else's. It's sad to hear a local business owner and operator, otherwise welcoming, kind and polite, talk like that because it undoes his kindness--he's only willing to show it to people who look like he does. Northampton Vision Specialists is an established business, with real eye doctors and skilled and friendly personnel. I threw it out that night, trash came the next day(I tried to dig through it)... I call to let them know the situation.... They ban me from ever getting the meds (I lost it within a day of going there). I spent the next 2 years in and out of the hospital and almost lost both my arms in a 6 month period. Thanks Meredith, you are literally the worst person/doctor I know. I hope your reap what you see for you're vindictive hearts. 15 doctors, 25 years of receiving the meds, being told I need it, but no you're grudge is more important than my health.

Hesitant, because I'm not their customer and had not purchased the glasses there. I will say that you will not get the superficial warm happiness greeting when you walk. HOWEVER, they were really nice and empathetic. The man, who I assume may be the technician or optometrist saw the screw was actually broken and suggested he could try to remove it and install a new screw in to replace. He went in the back and it took about 10 minutes and the glasses were cleaned and returned to me repaired. I was fully prepared to pay but he didn't want money. Just nice people helping others out! I'm due for an exam and new glasses soon. I'm going to call them and see if they accept our vision insurance. Thank you VS Employees!

The receptionist left a lot to be desired. She got irritated because I couldn't make an afternoon appointment 40 minutes away from where I work. She got nasty because my card was declined. I miscalculated how much my copay was. I was able to transfer funds to make up for it. There is really no excuse for someone to be such a twat to people coming in for an eye exam. She would be the reason I may not have a second visit at that office. Life is too short for people with bad customer service skills.

He finally agreed to see me, he could not do what I wanted so I want along with his suggestion. I was told that my glasses would be ready in 7-10 days. Never heard from him. I finally called weeks later to be told that they were in and that an email was sent. I never received any email. He made up a story as to why I wasn't notified and when I told him that was not true he basically hung up on me. I called the office in Florence to speak to his supervisor, never heard from her. Never will order glasses from this practice again.

Dr. Ringenbach is an excellent optometrist and the appointments are on time, never rushed, and allot plenty of time to ask questions. I definitely feel like he takes a conservative approach -- other optometrists I've seen have increased my Rx more than neccessary or attempted to overcorrect issues, and Dr. Ringenbach always tries to take a more mimimalist approach that has slowed my nearsightedness significantly. Vision Associates also has up-to-date technology and equipment, including an optomap that tests for diabetes, cholesteral, and high blood pressure. Other optometrists I've seen in San Francisco and Boston don't have this, so I had to undergo more rudimentary diagnostics including dilating my pupils and that machine that puffs your eye with air. Dr. Ringebach and his team are also very helpful with insurance... I'm clueless and they are always great at explaining my coverage to me. The eyewear pricing is great and I scored gorgeous Kate Spade eyeglass frames for nothing (I've paid far more in the past at other places and ended up with crappy generic frames). Anyways, this place rocks and I trust Dr. Ringebach and his staff (although, yes, some of the secretaries can be a bit odd). I always know I'm in good hands. I won't go anywhere else.
