I was only one in there as this was in the middle of the day. The one employee was efficient in letting me know what to do but I wouldn't say warm or friendly. She was just very matter-of-fact. I ordered the grilled chicken wrap and fries to go along with a pineapple mango smoothie. The smoothie was good and the fries were also. The wrap was okay. I feel could have used a bit more flavoring though.

I'm traveling through NJ alone today, so I pull off I-78 in Maplewood and find the Park Wood Diner. This is an old school corner diner with a rear wraparound parking lot that's locally popular. I grab a seat at the counter and start checking out the menu. The breakfast menu card is tabloid sized and filled with choices on both sides and is available all day. I'm afraid to see what the lunch and dinner menu looks like. One of my breakfast favorites is corned beef hash and I get it with 2 eggs sunny side up with home fries and white toast. I love laying the oozy yolk onto a slice of toast and if there's any bread left, use it to sop up any runny yolk left on the plate. Of course, the yolk runs onto the hash and home fries, too. After this leisurely filling breakfast, can I even think about lunch or maybe dinner? I'll have to make a point to come back to see what's in store on the lunch menu. Both of these were served at the perfect temperature, were richly creamy, and served in large mugs. I also ordered a Carrot Cake Muffin and it was very good. It was moist, each forkful had a decent amount of walnuts, and the frosting was exquisite. Once you're finished with your food, don't forget to stroll through the entire cafe. You'll probably find something that will pique your interest. Either way, try to make time to enjoy it all.
