    Everything bagel

Great neighborhood spot, I'm a fan of their everything bagel. Bagels are not as large as many other places but that actually makes it easier to eat. There is a surcharge for using cards so bring cash if you can. Plenty of parking on the side of the shop.

This shop was such a good place to stop for breakfast! Everyone here was so nice. The shop itself is clean and tidy. It's small but has a few seats to eat at. I ordered an onion bagel with chive cream cheese and lox. The bagels are perfectly soft and chewy! I really enjoyed the chive cream cheese as well. The amount of lox was generous as well!

Garlic bagel with jalapeño cream cheese and lox

The bakery was small and cozy. Being from Chicago, kind of reminded me of a bagel shop back home. The service was quick and friendly. I ordered a garlic bagel with lox and jalapeño cream cheese. The bagel was airy and soft. It went well with the lox. Personally, I wish there were more jalapeños in the cream cheese and spicier. Overall, I had a good experience and would recommend it to a friend!

A salt bagel with maple pecan cream cheese

These bagels were really good, soft, and fresh, but a little small. The cream cheese too was delicious, with a variety of spreads to choose from. There was a little bit of seating inside and outside, with only a couple of tables but standing isn't an issue for me. The salt bagels could have used more salt, as seen in the picture, the top half didn't have too much. The service was slow, and the workers didn't seem to remember the orders and had to repeatedly ask for what our orders were, but I believe they had new workers, so it's understandable. Would recommend!

    Everything Bagel with White Fish

I was puppy sitting for my friends who lived in the area and her and her husband raved about the bagels here. It was only a 5 min drive and it was during the weeks so I figured I wouldn't have to wait too long. This was everything I hoped and dreamed for. The white fish was stacked in this bagel and since moving to jersey this is definitely one of the better bagels that can compare to a NY bagel. I will be back.

Smallest bagel and pathetic looking egg with unmelted cheese. Never again. Hot bagels is 100 times better.

NYC Deli and Bagels was truly an exceptional bagel shop…read more Not every bagel shop offers more than your plan bagel with various seeds. This bagel shop offers quite the variety of bagel "base" flavors before adding seeds. Never in my life have I seen a rye or marble rye bagel, but this shop has it. They also have pumpernickel (slightly lower carb! Also an unfortunately not very common bagel), egg, cinnamon raisin, whole wheat, and cinnamon raisin. I was lucky to get to try 3 bagels during my visit. The first was an everything bagel with egg, bacon, lettuce, and tomato. The everything bagel was chewy and flavorful, which is not what I expect from a bagel that has a plain bagel base. And the eggs were cooked perfectly and the bacon of a quality taste. There was some sauce on it that brought it all together. The second bagel I got to try was pumpernickel with lox and scallion cream cheese as well as capers and onions. Again, the bagel was large and chewy, and the pumpernickel flavor was just right. The lox serving was generous and the school cream cheese serving just the right amount. Personally I don't like it when there's too much cream cheese so this was perfect. And finally, a dessert bagel! My husband and I split a cinnamon raisin bagel with walnut raisin cream cheese. Everything has a sweet flavor making for a solid finisher dessert bagel, but it wasn't too sweet. The balance was just right. The prices were lower than what I'd seen elsewhere, and I felt I was getting high value for the size of the bagel and the generous filling portions. Also, every savory bagel comes with a pickle and side of coleslaw which I thought was a nice touch. Rarely do you see such perks at bagel establishments. For those who wish to dine in, there are a few tables that seat 4. I recommend the dine-in experience because you'll end up deciding you need another bagel after the first. I couldn't recommend NYC Deli and Bagels enough! I'll be back if I'm in town.

I got an everything bagel with cream cheese and got a hot tea from the tea and coffee self serve. Bagel was a usual New Jersey bagel which means it was very good. Good crust and nice and soft inside. Small seating area in front which was very clean. Service was pleasant and the bagel came out fast. Place was pretty busy which is always a good sign. I would definitely stop back here again if I was in the area.

Millburn has no shortage of delis, but Goldberg's Famous Deli is definitely at the top of the list…read more Goldberg's offers deli traditional favorites like fresh-baked bagels, lox, and sandwiches piled high with deli meats, as well as healthier options like salads when you want something lighter in an unapologetically casual ambiance. Goldberg's has been a local staple in Millburn since Tina and Marty Goldberg first opened the doors back in July 1977. The current owners took over in December 2022 and have done a fantastic job keeping the soulful and "old-school" Jewish-style deli spirit alive while making many subtle but meaningful improvements that today's diners expect and appreciate. However, it still has that authentic, "old-school deli" ambiance where you order at the counter then grab a table to wait for your meal and could end up with mismatched silverware. It's charmingly low-key and with a focus entirely on the food. The deli sandwiches are massive and the quality of the ingredients is consistently high. Unfortunately, that also means that the prices are somewhat higher than you might expect. A single deli sandwich served with a small bag of potato chips is in the $20-$22 range, which feels like a bit of a splurge for a casual lunch. That said.. You definitely won't leave hungry and the portion sizes encourage sharing or taking half of your dish home for a second meal. My dining companion and I split the West Orange sandwich, made with corned beef, turkey, russian dression, and cole slaw, on rye bread, which was excellent. We'll definitely be back. PRO TIP #1: Bring your wallet. I do feel obligated to point out that Goldberg's should be rated as a $$ / moderate price range (indicating $11 to $30 per person) rather than a $ / inexpensive price range (indicating under $10 per person). PRO TIP #2: While they don't have a private lot, there is plenty of on-street parking and municipal lots nearby. Use the mPay2Park app for the pay-by-plate meters ($0.50 per hour). Meters operate Monday through Saturday from 8am to 7pm; all street meters are free after 7 pm and all day Sunday. If the street is full, the Essex Street parking deck (24 Lackawanna Place) is a reliable backup.

Even so, being in the area, seeking a high protein meal, I stop in to the Millburn Deli. The establishment seems set for efficiency from the door, even with a quick seemingly (random assortment) ready-to-go refrigerator, for a quick passerby perhaps, like I become when the order I seek to buy is already in the fridge area (at the register). The establishment offers a variety of seating options. This is my first time eating a cold Sloppy Joe sandwich though not my first time eating a cold Roast Beef sandwich. The cole slaw is somewhat tasty, though the mayonnaise-y-ness is not preferable, to me, especially considering sweeter bits are present without the mayonnaise-y-ness. The cheese (Provolone-ish) adds a consistent pleasant flavor in the current mix of cold sloppiness. I prefer Roast Beef with lettuce, tomatoes, purplish-skin onions, Swiss Cheese, horse radish, pepper, oil, vinegar, and on firm wheat bread/a good firm exterior though softer chewy interior wheat-like roll. The establishment accepts different forms of payment.
