Bagels are hot, doughy (which I actually like) but tend to be on the smaller end. Prices are actually a lot higher than the bagel shop down the st. Olive cream cheese was average at best. Would return since they have a grill which is rare at a bagel shop in the area. read more

I'm not fond of writing two star reviews. But sometimes they are necessary. This morning's visit to my hometown bagel place, one of two in town, really irritated me. Simple order. Toasted onion and butter. Medium coffee. The gentleman behind the counter attempted to multi task. Poorly I might add. While cooking a four egg omelett for another customer or two two egg omeletts, he attempted to toast my bagel under the broiler while chatting with someone over the phone(not a take out order-personal call). As I waited, I watched the fellow cook the omelette. He would dip his spatula into the egg on the grill and seemingly cut out bits of white and singed edges and flick them in the trash. Nauseating. Of course, if he wasn't chatting on the phone, he could have beaten the eggs properly. But hey, it wasn't my order. All of a sudden, I smelled something burning. The guy had forgotten about my bagel which was now incinerated. No toaster oven there I guess. I waved goodbye and left. Had already been there ten minutes. Went over to Noah and got myself some friendly, competent service and a great bagel. Sad. I won't be back. read more

Bagels are fresh, when they have them. They run out sometimes. Not sure if they don't make enough, or the demand is so high. They have a special right now, free medium coffee with a breakfast sandwich. The sign is off to the side and should be visible to all who enter, but was never offered the coffee with my sandwich. I would not have taken it anyway, but I feel it should have been offered, in case I didn't see the sign. Prices a little high, but close to house. They have really good breakfast items but for the past week or so I have been going around 1pm and they are closed. They are supposed to close at 2pm. It's really annoying that I can't get my food. It's also listed everywhere that they close at 2pm. read more

Sam I am is one of the fastest most reliable bagel places around. People are tearing them apart for no reason. It is not the nicest place on earth. But the employees have always been nice and I have been coming here for years. They have great prices as well. Honestly, if you are looking for a fancy bagel this is not for you. Simply put ; don't bother. Standard bagel shop fare with ordinary bagels at best. Attention to detail doesn't exist there. They slap your bagel and spread together as though they could care less. A glob of butter or cream cheese just dropped on your bagel ; no attempt at presentation. Extremely impersonal service. Prices are high - Berkeley Heights , notwithstanding. There are several other bagel shop options in the near surrounding areas. Do yourself a favor and stop by one of them. read more

The bagels are okay, nothing special. But the prices are ridiculous. They charge $4.50 for egg and cheese on a bagel! I've never in my life seen such a high price for a simple breakfast sandwich. I love this Sam I am place! The bagels are always great and fresh. I love their whole wheat everything bagels. And the people there are really nice! They have a great deal going on now free medium coffee with a breakfast sandwhich. They are always clean which I LOVE , you can tell alot about a place by how clean they keep it. Stopped by on a Sunday morning for a quick breakfast. Bagel selection was a little small,many of the varieties weren't available. I've known this guy for years, ever since he took over the joint. Really picked up the place. Everything is super fresh and has great coffee flavors. So much better than the other places around that slap the ingredients on the bagel and charge you $5 for some obstacle course of a breakfast. you'll enjoy this place anytime of day. Having moved away from NJ 26 years ago and having lived in many places in the US and always in search of a great bagel Sam I Am has the best. They have about 20 different selections of bagels. By far they have the best French Toast bagel around. When I'm back in NJ I always make it a point to get my daily requirement of bagels and for the return trip home at least a dozen or two come along for the ride.
