I used to love this place. I just ordered a salad with grilled chicken and asked them to put the chicken on the side so it didn't get soggy. They charged me $17 for the salad and said because I put the chicken on the side they charged me $5 as a separate order. If I had it on the salad, it would have been $12. I argued for 5 minutes and gave us. Most ridiculous thing I ever heard. Last time I'll go there. And the tomatoes were soggy and disgusting as was the cucumbers. Terrible salad. Don't order it!!! I'm newer to the Union area, and Bagel Spot is the first and only bagel shop I've tried since moving here. Their bagels are most like home, and coming from a predominately Jewish area of Bergen county-- I know good bagels!!! And if you stop in for lunch, not just breakfast, get your Boars Head cold cuts on a bagel as well. I'm not a huge fan of their muffins, and have never tried their croissants or danishes. But I suppose that's a matter of taste and preference. 4/5 bc their organization could improve and check out becomes a little hectic, but they are working with what space they have. read more

Amazing as always. Grew up eating here! Best bagel spot in the universe! When I was in high school, it caught on fire and the town helped bring it back. (It's that good) French toast bagels are my fave from here. Tip: they're heavy on the cream cheese so ask for 'light to get regular lol. Get there early before some of your faves run out. Foodie Judy here!!!!! It's all in the name folks!! It's THE bagel spot!!1! The bread is massive and soft, but also has a nice crust on the outside. Sure feel blessed when I hold these bagels and it fills up my entire hand! Always tastes fresh and comes with a "healthy" ( ;-) hehe) serving of cream cheese!! It's the fact that every time you come it's a disorganized mess. Nothing is ever in order. Each time you order you get something wrong, something missing, or one of the ladies that takes your order does not understand you. It's a shame that even though they have good bagels that you have to fight to get them if you have an order than consists of more than 2 bagels. The fridges are old. I opened it and the door fell off entirely. One of their Tropicana fridges stopped working and they left all the drinks in there with no sign to indicate it was out of order. I pity whoever took one not realizing something was wrong. It's never a guaranteed good experience at Bagel Spot which is truly the issue here. The owner doesn't even care either way if you have a complaint. And don't try to use the phone to make an order because they hang up on you. And try not to mind the flies that land on the bagels because the door is propped open for every insect to come right in and make a home. read more

Another quick breakfast/lunch spot. There is no place to sit here, you pretty much order and go. This place has one of the largest selection of bagels that I've ever seen, hence the name. There counter is staffed with probably 3-5 people at any different day ready to take your order once you've made up your mind. I frequent this place for a quick lunch salad or wrap. You can call ahead so you don't have to stand around aimlessly. You are able to see your food being prepped right in front of you for those who prefer to see exactly what's happening with their meals. Portion size is more than you would receive at another place with similar pricing. The salads are large and plentiful and they stuff the hell out of the wraps. I personally have had only one bad experience here where I ordered something and I got the wrong thing. What's that saying goes, "the customer is always right.". Well unfortunately, the person who took my order didn't feel that way and argued with me about what I ordered. The major problem here was even if I did order what she said, as I have in the past, I would not order it how she prepped it. So we have to take some stars away for my aggregation that day. Bagel spot's employee's are rude and unfriendly. They ripped me off this morning for $10 saying that I only gave them a ten dollar bill. I am 100% sure that I gave them a twenty and they refused to refund me. The bagels are not fresh. They are hard as if they were sitting out since yesterday.
