Enjoyed lunch here and my friend and I tried 2 specials-the pesto garlic chicken wrap and the cranberry pecan salad with steak. Both were delicious, and I loved the table bread-crusty on the outside, moist on the inside with a sweet butter spread. This place is gorgeous on the inside. We love Springfield but it had been a couple years since my last visit. The restaurant is classy yet warm like home. Very comfortable atmosphere. Our server was very sweet, knowledgeable, and kind, but unfortunately is also the reason for 3 starts. I am omitting her name because the blame should lie on her floor manager. (Whom she said saw off the floor, btw. When she approached our table she was in a coughing fit, clutching a Kleenex, eyes watering and she managed to choke out "allergies" and "manager sent her out" despite her obvious sickly appearance. Now that being said, this would have been a bad situation regardless of a pandemic. Her floor manager should have at least given her a few minutes to get herself together before starting a shift. This was not her fault, she is not at blame, this should have been handled by the manager. The food and everything else was wonderful- please see pictures for descriptions. Not pictured is my moms house salad with added steak. She said it was awesome with a good chargrilled flavor on the tender meat. Visit Springfield for a classy dinner without pretension. Springfield Grille has something for everyone - it is one of my favorite restaurants in Mars. We recently stopped on my Dad's birthday - we usually make reservations for dinner, but we arrived on Sunday evening at 5:30 with just 3 people... so we didn't make a reservation. We waited in the bar for 7 minutes before our table was called. I ordered this delicious Bourbon drink. It was delicious. Once we got to our table, we ordered a bottle of the Shine Riesling to share - my Dad ordered this Two Tailed Bloody Mary. The wine was perfect for our meals and my Dad loved his Bloody Mary. To start, I ordered the Lobster/Crab bisque. It was amazing - big hunks of crab meat. For my meal, I ordered the special - 10 oz Filet with a Crabcake, asparagus, and two sides. My first Side was my soup - and my second side was a baked potato. The steak was cooked perfectly and the crabcake was huge and delicious. They also give you rolls and corn bread muffins with your meals. My parents both ordered the Mixed Seafood Grille - it comes with two small crab cakes, two scallops, and two stuffed shrimp. It comes with two sides. We didn't order dessert because we had birthday cake at home. Like I said, the whole family will be able to find something they love at Springfield. read more

We went for my dads birthday dinner in May and wanted to try somewhere new. He had found this online and said it sounded good. I got the calamari Diablo which was so good! We also tried the zucchini and a couple other appetizers. Our dinner was really yummy too! Crab cakes were so good ( I love a good crab cake). Then dessert was so yummy. First timer....and....wow! What a great place! Lots of wood decor, and lots of well done, tasteful decoration! A quite busy place on a Tuesday night, and the kept it hopping! We had a fantastic waitress, Hope, and she kept us with waters and drinks refreshed and the food timing was perfect. The menu had plenty of options, and we went for some house originals. The turtle soup was flavorful, and packed with vegetables and a delicate stock, offset by the Sherry that was served with it and it added a great flavor. The table apps we ordered were Thai calamari, and the artichoke dip, which were both fantastic. The Thai calamari had a perfect breading and the sweet chili sauce offset it well. Main course action - I did the queen filet with the crab cake, the filet was perfectly done to medium rare, and seasoned. The crab cake was flavorful and well constructed. Top it all off with their peanut butter pie and holy crap! Go here. Eat stuff. Be happy. read more

We started off with the fried zucchini and ahi tuna appetizers. They were both amazing. The zucchini was fried to a light crisp topped with Parmesan and dipped in marinara. I love seared ahi tuna. It was the perfect size for two people to share two apps. Then I got the beats and arugula salad which was awesome. The goat cheese and arugula matched very well. Also I couldn't even eat it. Then my mom and I shared the featured burger and it was AWESOME. The was like a whiskey bbq burger and had ranch onion straws and this sweet bbq sauce. I have been at this restaurant on several occasions along with restaurants within this group. My most recent experience would rate this more on the 3.5 star side, however, my past experiences keep it at a 4! This restaurant falls more on the elegant side, with white table cloths adorning the tables and dark wooden walls covered with paintings. There was plenty of seating whether tables, booths or at the bar. Their menu offers a wide variety of items. They have a decently sized appetizer section of which I have had the hummus platter. You could instantly tell it was freshly made and it was served with carrots as well as a deliciously flavorful flatbread. When we ran out of "dippers", our waitress would refill it! They offer a wide variety of salads, poultry dishes, pasta dishes, steak dishes, seafood dishes, and an array of side dishes. In addition, they always have daily specials and a happy hour during the week. Two dishes I have thoroughly enjoyed from here were the Pecan-Crusted Chicken Salad - chicken, spinach, bacon, egg, and a delicious honey mustard dressing - and a fall special of Pumpkin Ravioli served with a sage sauce. They were both to die for! Each table that had an entree also was served a basket of warm buns/rolls with a homemade butter. We have never been disappointed in their selection! One of our experiences included a wonderful waitress who refilled glasses, appetizer and was very explicit with details of dishes we were deciding between. She made the experience unforgettable along with the delicious food! This is a great, unique find if you are in the Mars, Gibsonia, Cranberry, or Wexford area. The food at the Springfield grill is an exception. My wife went there on our anniversary. We both had fillets, cooked exactly as we wanted. The Bernese sauce was to die for. Best in town. The soup and salad were also great, and a fine selection of Argentinian wine. We had a similar fillet at Napa at twice the price, but I would rate the steaks at Springfield grill better. Our waiter, Jason, was most helpful. The food and service were indeed excellent. However, the atmosphere is very poor. There are dead dear, elk, and antelope heads all over the place. I ate under the gaze of a huge elk. These are inappropriate in the modern surroundings of Mars. The place is very dark. with non-descript, artwork. There is no life in the place, and it will only draw the post 70 year old. It needs to be modernized to survive. read more

I stopped by here a couple of Fridays ago with two coworkers for lunch. We were greeted almost immediately upon walking into the restaurant and quickly taken to our table. Due to that I didn't see too much of the restaurant except from the vantage of our table. There were a number of black and white photos around which you could tell were from the Pittsburgh area and then in another room there was what looked like an antelope head or maybe that of a deer. For lunch on this day I decided to go with the special which happened to be a salmon with a balsamic reduction on top of a bed of vegetables. It sounded good enough that everyone at our table ended up ordering it. Within a reasonable amount of time all of us had our lunches in front of us. The salmon ended up tasting pretty good as it was glistening and had a nice flavor without any fishiness at all. It really paired nicely with the balsamic reduction too. The vegetables underneath tasted good as well. In the end I was satisfied with my meal and even felt like it was healthy. The bottom line for me is that I would stop back again in the future. Yes the Springfield Grille is a little more expensive than the other restaurants in the area but it proves the old adage that "you get what you pay for" true. read more

Didn't get to experience any drinks of food because no one ever greeted us. We prefer the bar top but it was wrapped so the host sat us at a table in the bar. We looked over the menu and decided but know one had come over. The same waitress passed our table multiple times, she was waiting the table next to us, I wondered if we were in her section , but even if we were not you should be aware of guest just sitting there for over ten minutes. We agreed that 15mins we would leave and we did. Too bad. read more

This place is upscale with a very nice vibe. We had a party of nine plus a baby of family and friends. Our reservation was for 8:00pm on Saturday January 29. Once we arrived we were taken care of by the best server I've ever encountered in my life. Her name was Kaitlyn. She was so upbeat, kind and never missed a beat. Talk about on the ball! Now to the food. I had the New Zealand Lamb Chop dinner. It consisted of 8 lamb chops plus two sides. Got lamb chops medium rare, they were very good but not the best I've had. They were just shy on the salt. Also got a baked potato and green beans. Green beans were very al dente but that's ok because I like them crunchy, but that baked potato? Oh my! The best baked potato ever! I also tried a piece of center cut filet which was awesome as were the fried zucchini strips but taste of crab cake was a little salty for me. Usually a go to restaurant for a special moment or birthday etc. This time around, a special disaster for first the service and food. The server greeted us with smiles and curiosity. After we ordered the appetizer and food the server was nonexistent. The food preparation took extra long and when the food did arrive, it was mentioned it's because someone ordered a well done hamburger. So the service disappearance was due to a well done burger? I was embarrassed my company who I had taken out for a birthday dinner had a bad experience due to someone ordering a well done burger... this was only part of the reason I will not go back for a long time or maybe not at all. The only reason this is a 3 is because our food was served hot and our waitress, Erin, was AMAZING! Besides that, this meal completely lacked! Their sandwiches are served with NO side, not even potato chips. Our salads had rotten lettuce, which with being closed for a week to remodel the kitchen, all vegetables should be fresh and crisp. Salty, salty, salty is the best way to describe my pasta dish. Reservations were made, but their site only allows for up to 4 people. A phone call is required for more. They were closed when I tried to call due to the remodel; therefore, when I called to add after they reopened, the boy on the phone said, 'you're lucky I could add the extra people.' The restaurant was not full and had plenty of room to add the extra people. Based on the prices and kitchen being remodeled, you would think the decor was just as important. The chair my elderly mother sat in was broken and very rickety. We did tell Erin when we were leaving and she removed the chair. We will not be back anytime soon. read more

I was appalled to watch chefs and many many many kitchen personnel not wearing masks while preparing and handling food, all while in the presence of the general manager. The food is 4 stars: not fantastic but good for what it is. It's a 1970s/80s steakhouse but executed competently. The cheese board app was good, especially the tapenade. The crab cakes were also good, have had worse at seafood restaurants. Both entrees (bourbon pork chop and rib eye) were fine. The rib eye didn't have the advertised peppercorn crust and the pork chop would have been better without the overpowering cherries. But generally well seasoned and tasty with good side options. Desserts were the star, especially the peanut butter pie, which I recommend sharing with two or more people! The service was friendly and welcoming but sorely lacking in basic table service etiquette. Our app dishes were still on the table when entrees were brought. My entree and the apps were even still on the table when desserts were brought. My dessert fork got scraped through rib eye juice as the server tried to make room for my pie. That was annoying enough, but I forgot my leftover pie and when I went back (approximately a minute later), the table was already completely cleared and no staff were in sight. It was the one thing I wanted to take home and said I was excited to eat tomorrow, and no one made an effort to come after me. They cleared the table faster when we left than while we were eating! So I'm giving them 3 stars because the food is ok, but they really need to update their sides and go away from Fries and Coleslaw. Items like creamed spinach, asparagus, and more creative sides that balance healthy with tasty. They also need to learn how to make traditional drinks like Old Fashioned, and Manhattan, and step out of the style of drink served at a shot and beer bar for a 23 year old. If they did this, the could attract a crowd that will pay off long term and their business will grow. We live about 2 miles from the Springfield Grill and have gone there several times. We ambiance is great especially during the cold months. The staff friendly. Last night was our last visit. I wish I knew what the other diners who awarded 4 or 5 stars ordered, because although my wife and I have ordered many dishes since the Springfield opened, the best we could say abound the best of them was simply "It was OK". Last night was the last straw. Both my wife and I ordered the sirloin steak salad because just how bad can they screw that up. They did. The steak was so tough and stringy I swear no amount of chewing could render a small cut small enough to swallow. Wife was to timid to complain, but I did. Waiter graciously took it back and asked if I wanted a filet. I said yes--was charged for this upgrade--the steak was good. BUT, the salad was heaped high with blue cheese making it...well...awful. So, I guess if you go you will likely have the same impression as the other diners giving it 4 or stars. Enjoy! I just had to vent about what we consider to be kind: less than mediocre. read more

Springfield Grille has such a comfortable atmosphere. Dark wood judge's paneling throughout with coffered ceilings, leather chairs and beautiful table settings. They also have one of the best happy hours in the area from 4pm-6pm weekdays. Who can argue with a huge selection of $3 martinis or glass of wine? There is also a large selection of 1/2 price appetizers and our favorite is the huge plate of steamed mussels with sriracha butter for dipping. Quite a fabulous bargain @ $5! The restaurant food is always well prepared and tasty and their crab cakes and steaks are their specialties. The server always provides a list of dinner specials that make your mouth water & its difficult not to choose your meal off that list. The restaurant tends to be on the pricier side with several of the entrees in the $25 range. Service in both the bar and restaurant has always been on point and overall The Springfield Grille provides a very pleasant drinking and dining experience. We're regulars! read more

I like this place but find myself rarely going there anymore for dinner. After the initial luster wore off (and it didn't take long), it became just another place with really nothing pulling me back. Considering the lack of good restaurants in the Cranberry area, Springfield is a welcome addition (and still is!) and a reliable staple for decent meals. It's a good place to take out of town guests for sure but a steady diet? Nah. I don't know exactly why either. It's got good food, reasonably priced, has a nice atmosphere, a good bar, plenty of parking...... But it's just not exciting nor does it make you want to hurry back. What it does bring to the area is a SUPERB happy hour!! With $3 martinis (albeit those sweet, martini-like concoctions that I won't drink), $3 house wines (full pours!), and half price appetizer selections (including delicious mussels), you're guaranteed to enjoy yourself and have a good time. It's my favorite happy hour place in the north hills ever since Jergels cut back on their offerings and went significantly down hill. Go there!! Get the mussels! I took my family to this restaurant after the Mars high school graduation. We had not been here for awhile so we wanted to try this restaurant again and we were not disappointed. I had the thick cut pork chop which was cooked perfect. My wife and daughter had the pasta special which was seasoned well .
