Priceless M.

First you start with locating a new diner to see how they are - the owners glare at you from inside as you pull up. Walk in and say good morning, you get glared at even more. Only words - sit anywhere. Get handed a well used and abused menu that should have been retired. Paper literally glued to the table from being repeatedly not cleaned/washed, now a permanent fixture. Bugs....yes bugs on the table...actually with the sourness coming from the very unhappy owners, the little guy was the high light of my morning. Ask for coffee and more time to check the huge menu - decided to try chicken sausage and some eggs....yea...downfall, sausage tasted old and smelled old, like rotten old. (Blech) Best part - HAIR! Yes not only one delightful hair in my eggs, but two in the food - super fun surprise - NOT! Sadly I could not get a good image of this.... I did notice that the woman's clothes were covered in hair, guessing her husband who was the cook may have participated in this extra additive.

Perfect Sunday morning brunch. The coffee is always hot and the food is delicious. Fries were crispy and club was great!

Clean, small, quaint. Kind Greek staff. Small menu for a diner. So my one co-worker had grilled cheese w/waffle fries and cheese on top. She said it was the "perfect diner grilled cheese". I ordered the chicken souvaki platter....that was seasoned chicken chunks w/Greek salad & vinegrette dressing (yum!), with Greek yogurt dressing, hot, homemade pita, and french fries (couldn't eat most it), and Ken got pork souvaki wrap with pickle and fries. $42 including tip and tax in Stanford, Conn. I rate it 3.75, Ken 2.5, Robin 4 stars. Loved it.

Lately I have been on a breakfast kick trying to find great local spots, and I stumbled onto this…read moreplace. It feels hidden in the sense that you could drive right past it and miss it, but once you find it, it is absolutely worth it. There is parking out front which is a plus. Inside, it is exactly what you would expect from a classic mom and pop Italian deli. Small, warm, welcoming, decently lit, and clean. They also have a huge menu with tons of options, not even counting everything available at the deli counter. I took my time looking over the menu and the staff was patient while I decided. I ordered a sausage, egg, and cheese with black pepper on a wedge and a bacon, egg, and cheese lightly toasted on white bread. The wedge was the highlight. Big portion, very filling, and everything tasted fresh and high quality. It was cooked and put together really well. My only small critique is that the bread was very soft and the eggs were falling out a bit, but I also did not ask for it toasted so that may be on me. The bacon, egg, and cheese on white bread was good as well. The only downside was that it was very lightly toasted, almost not toasted at all, and it used bacon pieces instead of strips. Overall, this is an excellent local deli with quality food, generous portions, and a welcoming feel. I would definitely recommend stopping by, and I will absolutely be back.

I go there at least once a week and I have my favorites, right now I'm locked in on a chicken Cutlet with cheddar cheese on a buttered wedge. The sandwich is huge and every bite delectable. Just delicious, seriously delicious. Just talking about it makes me want to go there right now. Treat yourself to one of their many options to choose from. You can't go wrong.

"A good deli does not need to impress you. It just needs to show up when you need it."…read more Mama Carmela's is the kind of place that quietly fills that role in a town. It may not try to reinvent the sandwich, but it delivers something dependable. My girlfriend and I both ordered the Middlesex sandwich. It was solid and satisfying, built with good portions and the kind of ingredients you expect from a neighborhood deli. The bread held everything together well and the balance of meats and toppings made it an easy, straightforward lunch. Nothing overly fancy, but it gets the job done. Service was quick and efficient. Orders moved through the counter at a steady pace and the staff kept things running smoothly. It felt like a place that knows its regular crowd and understands that most people are stopping in for a reliable bite rather than a long dining experience. The ambiance matches that deli identity. It is casual, simple, and functional. A small local spot where people come in, grab a sandwich, and head back to their day. It has that comfortable neighborhood energy without trying to be anything more than it needs to be. Mama Carmela's earns three stars as a reliable deli. Not necessarily a destination, but definitely a dependable stop when you are craving a good sandwic

Everything arrived cold, overcooked, and burnt. On top of that, it was salty but somehow still had no real flavor. I also asked for cheese and it was not added. Portions were smaller than expected for some of the items. We ordered one platter, two breakfast sandwiches, fries, and two drinks. The order included two eggs with home fries, rye toast with butter, bacon, and a sausage patty, plus a bacon egg and cheese on white bread and another on a hard roll. The hot chocolate was literally a cup of hot water with one Swiss Miss packet, which was surprising. My iced coffee came black with no cream included and it tasted burnt. Overall, the meal was not worth what we paid and most of it was honestly inedible. I really wanted to like this place because it has great reviews everywhere, so maybe this was just a really bad day for them. Still, based on this experience, I don't think we'll be ordering from here again.

When walking inside of the establishment, it was relatively quiet. The individual up front greeted us and informed us that there was a menu on the counter which we appreciated. There is a large menu to order from, but we decided to order the Chopped Cheese and Fries. The Chopped Cheese was good. The beef is fresh, juicy, and tender. When combined with the rest of the ingredients it makes a great combination. The fries were salted well and had a slight crunch with each bite. I became full off of one half of the Chopped Cheese. I do not normally become full from eating out, but this was one of the rare occasions where I did and I am thankful for it. Overall, I enjoyed eating here. I became full from the food I ordered, the individual up front was nice and respectful, and I left feeling satisfied. I definitely recommend coming to this location and trying their food options.

I'm so glad I did! I picked up an olive loaf, and since their famous cinnamon rolls were sold out (I've tried them before and they're amazing), I opted for a lemon blueberry scone while my partner chose a berry and white chocolate scone. My daughter was thrilled with a chocolate croissant, and we snagged a shareable apple danish too. Per Tom tastes great warmed up with a scoop of ice cream. They proudly craft their breads and treats from scratch daily, never frozen. Their dedication to quality ingredients and traditional artisan techniques shines through in every crumb. Tom at the counter was outstanding; his warm, welcoming approach and detailed product knowledge made our visit even better. He patiently walked us through their selection and helped us make great choices, all with a genuine smile. There's a great selection with a wide variety: artisan bread loaves, bagels, rolls, and pastries including danish (apple, berry, custard) and crowd‑favorite cinnamon rolls. It's a one‑stop shop for both everyday bread and indulgent treats. I appreciate that unsold baked goods aren't wasted; they're donated daily to local charities through the End of Day Giving program. It's great knowing my purchase is supporting a business that's committed to community and sustainability. COBS Bread in Stamford delivers on freshness, flavor, service, and community values. Whether you're after a hearty loaf, a decadent pastry, or simply a smile from friendly staff like Tom, this bakery hits all the right notes. Highly recommended!
