Went there once and had a bad experience. I ordered egg whites on a sandwich and an older man with an accent gave me whole eggs instead . When I addressed the issue he got pissed and said" Well what's the difference ". I mean if you own a deli you should know the difference. This may sound weird but i was really craving a liverwurst sandwich, something i grew up on. I found this deli, and was pleased to see they had a liverwurst sandwich on the menu, along with a lot of other tasty looking sandwiches. The Liverwurst was super affordable and tasty, and the Italian wrap was great too. Good prices, fresh food. You can use their app or Uber eats for delivery, but I would recommend their app. You do have to download it but then they don't have to pay uber, and there were some inaccuracies on the Uber eats app for them. read more

Place is a local institution. While Tony is no longer behind the counter, they still have the Blue Wave original with roast beef great chicken cutlets. There's a good turnover and the place is always busy. I like that you can order online now too. Parking can be problematic at peak times- but it's worth it! read more

I ordered 1/4 lb tuna salad, roll, and a side potato salad. they kept getting the order wrong and I needed to repeat it multiple times. they charged me $5.15 for the tuna salad and $2.19 for the roll (charged as roll and butter). My company often gets vavala's for smaller lunch meetings, and I have personally ordered from them a few times. The prices tend to be a little higher than I would personally pay for a deli sandwich but they can be pretty high quality. My biggest issue is that they leave people on hold for unreasonably long amounts of time (just send people to voicemail if you are busy, or don't take phone orders) and every time I have gone, at least one sandwich gets made incorrectly. I know it's a super busy spot, but I have been to plenty of delis that are just as busy and don't make as frequent errors on sandwiches, things like giving tuna instead of turkey! read more

BEST ROAST BEEF! GREAT SANDWICHES! Never heard of this place and a good foodie friend turned me on to it. This place is locally known for their roast beef and I'm a believer! Best roast beef I've ever had, seriously. Any roast beef sandwich, hot or cold, is a home run. Their menu board has lots of great sandwiches to choose from. Not feeling like roast beef? Visited this place for the first time a few weeks ago with one of my close friends who lives in Norwalk. He literally insisted we go because he said it was his favorite sandwich place in town. I'm so glad we went on a Monday, because he said that on the weekends the line is practically out the door it's your typical deli, but the taste is out of this world!! My only recommendation is that they do something to clean the bathroom up a little bit, especially since it's open to the public. Other than that, well done!! read more

Whenever I review something I review it comparably to its competitors. Unfortuantley for Vavala's there are better deli's/catering places in town. Actually, vavala for catering is good, over priced but good. As far a deli I was two gripes about it. 1) The price. You can buy the same food at the same quality if not better quality for cheaper. It is crazy how overpriced they are. 2) The food is good. They can make a good sandwich. However, I just am never wowed by it. The best feature about vavala's is the service the main buy and owner I believe is name is Sal is a great guy and everyone who goes there is practically a regular and I think they go there because they like Sal, not for any other reason. read more

Okay to be fair - Valvallas DOES have really good sandwiches, there's no denying that, but I give two stars for being grossly expensive. A basic turkey on a roll will set you back $7.50. If you grab chips and a drink, you're paying ten-eleven bucks for what SHOULD be a $7 lunch. It's not a huge deal, but I just wish the prices were a little more down to earth. read more
