I recommend walking in to order (duh) or ordering online as they are often too busy working to answer the phone. (Trust me I've tried) And obviously this is because they are the best Deli NomNomz in town! Also their cookies are read more

Picked up lunch to eat on the boat and also grabbed a sausage egg & cheese for breakfast. Breakfast sandwich was delicious and so were the lunches! Everything tasted fresh. I ordered online and it was ready for pick up when I walked in. read more

Great food and good service. Local family business with owners that give back to our community. Highly recommend

Went there once and had a bad experience. I ordered egg whites on a sandwich and an older man with an accent gave me whole eggs instead . When I addressed the issue he got pissed and said" Well what's the difference ". I mean if you own a deli you should know the difference. Anyhow God bless him however because of his attitude I won't go there again. read more

This may sound weird but i was really craving a liverwurst sandwich, something i grew up on. I found this deli, and was pleased to see they had a liverwurst sandwich on the menu, along with a lot of other tasty looking sandwiches. The Liverwurst was super affordable and tasty, and the Italian wrap was great too. Good prices, fresh food. You can use their app or Uber eats for delivery, but I would recommend their app. You do have to download it but then they don't have to pay uber, and there were some inaccuracies on the Uber eats app for them. read more

RESTAURANT REVIEW Vavala's Deli & Catering Darien, CT @vavalasdelidarien @fairfieldfooddude Vavala's has been serving the Darien community for over 40 years, and there is two major reasons for their success; service snd quality of food. Located across from the Noroton Heights train station, Vavala's offers daily hot meal specials and an insanely diverse selection of sandwiches and salads. You can get your everyday deli staples, but the specialty sandwich menu is where this place stands out from the local competition. You can browse the menu in person or online, but here are some of my favorites: Tony's Chicken Cutlet - Chicken Cutlet, Honey Mustard, Melted Jack Cheese, Bacon, Lettuce & Tomato   Chicken Cutlet Cordon Bleu - Chicken Cutlet, Bleu Cheese Dressing, Melted American, Slice Of Ham, Lettuce & Tomato   Hot & Spicy Chicken Cutlet - Chicken Cutlet, Pepper Jack, BBQ Sauce, Hot Peppers, Onion, Lettuce & Tomato Kenny's Chicken Cutlet Chicken Cutlet With Melted Mozzarella, Sweet Peppers, Bacon, Balsamic & Pesto On A Wedge   Blue Wave Chicken Cutlet - Chicken Cutlet, Bacon, Melted Cheddar, Russian Dressing, Lettuce & Tomato   State Champs - Chicken Cutlet & Potato Cones With Bacon, Melted Pepper Jack Cheese, Ranch Dressing & Hot Sauce On A Wedge   If you're super hungry and don't care about calories try the monster double bacon cheeseburger served on a wedge! Vavala's is open daily for takeout and delivery using the usual apps..... read more

Place is a local institution. While Tony is no longer behind the counter, they still have the Blue Wave original with roast beef great chicken cutlets. There's a good turnover and the place is always busy. I like that you can order online now too. Parking can be problematic at peak times- but it's worth it! read more

Stopped here for lunch. What an excellent cutlet sandwich on a wedge. Top notch delis are hard to find and this is definitely one. Glad I found the place, will be coming back. read more

My family's favorite deli in Darien. We have been going to Vavala's for years and have never been disappointed. Danny, the owner, makes a point of getting to know the names of regulars. He always asks about our kids. The Italian sub is a favorite. The regular morning coffee is better than Starbucks! read more

I ordered 1/4 lb tuna salad, roll, and a side potato salad. they kept getting the order wrong and I needed to repeat it multiple times. they charged me $5.15 for the tuna salad and $2.19 for the roll (charged as roll and butter). I'm not price sensitive but it was the multiple times they got it wrong. read more

Vavala's Deli & Catering - Over priced for bad service - Delis Near Me - Darien, Connecticut

Best deli in the area. Awesome sandwiches and service. Definitely a must for lunch. My office really enjoyed it as well.

My company often gets vavala's for smaller lunch meetings, and I have personally ordered from them a few times. The prices tend to be a little higher than I would personally pay for a deli sandwich but they can be pretty high quality. My biggest issue is that they leave people on hold for unreasonably long amounts of time (just send people to voicemail if you are busy, or don't take phone orders) and every time I have gone, at least one sandwich gets made incorrectly. I know it's a super busy spot, but I have been to plenty of delis that are just as busy and don't make as frequent errors on sandwiches, things like giving tuna instead of turkey! read more

This place seriously makes the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. Two words for you: double egg. The perfect runny egg, fresh Kaiser rolls, and fresh ground unwatered-down coffee! This is from an expert with 10+ years of ordering in NYC from sidewalk street vendors, delis, and at nationwide fast food chains. Definitely give the place a try if you're in the area. The lunchtime sandwiches are generously portioned. The steak and cheese wedge is great! read more

BEST ROAST BEEF! GREAT SANDWICHES! Never heard of this place and a good foodie friend turned me on to it. This place is locally known for their roast beef and I'm a believer! Best roast beef I've ever had, seriously. Any roast beef sandwich, hot or cold, is a home run. Their menu board has lots of great sandwiches to choose from. Not feeling like roast beef? Not to worry, the chicken cutlets are great too. A word of advice - bring your appetite! Not only is the food delicious, their wedges are HUGE! So glad I now have this place on my radar. read more

The entire staff is totally cool here .. and the food is great... the best spot I've found since moving up here 3 years ago ....

Visited this place for the first time a few weeks ago with one of my close friends who lives in Norwalk. He literally insisted we go because he said it was his favorite sandwich place in town. I'm so glad we went on a Monday, because he said that on the weekends the line is practically out the door it's your typical deli, but the taste is out of this world!! My only recommendation is that they do something to clean the bathroom up a little bit, especially since it's open to the public. Other than that, well done!! read more

One of the best Deli's in fairfield county!! Friendly staff and great food!! amazing breakfast sandwiches!!!

The sandwiches may be expensive, but they are worth every penny. Not being from CT, I only get to enjoy Vavala's when I'm in town visiting my husband's family. I can tell you that I dream about these sandwiches. The bread, the meat, the toppings ... all cannot be beat. The Blue Wave sandwich is THE BEST!!! This place is Amazing. Best ham, egg and cheese sandwichs on the planet. There is no doubt. You must go here for sandwichs, hot subs, cold subs, awesome pre-made pastas and snacks. Whenever I review something I review it comparably to its competitors. Unfortuantley for Vavala's there are better deli's/catering places in town. Actually, vavala for catering is good, over priced but good. As far a deli I was two gripes about it. 1) The price. You can buy the same food at the same quality if not better quality for cheaper. It is crazy how overpriced they are. 2) The food is good. They can make a good sandwich. However, I just am never wowed by it. The best feature about vavala's is the service the main buy and owner I believe is name is Sal is a great guy and everyone who goes there is practically a regular and I think they go there because they like Sal, not for any other reason. read more

Best BLT ever! Great fresh food options. Great deviled eggs. Good service nice people. Frozen entrees and hot/cold options.

Okay to be fair - Valvallas DOES have really good sandwiches, there's no denying that, but I give two stars for being grossly expensive. A basic turkey on a roll will set you back $7.50. If you grab chips and a drink, you're paying ten-eleven bucks for what SHOULD be a $7 lunch. It's not a huge deal, but I just wish the prices were a little more down to earth. read more
