My friend and I started out the day at an estate sale. Tessa, the person working it was super great and gave us some recommendations of good eats in Norwalk. She mentioned her aunt owns Mike's deli. Enter our appetite, enter Mike's deli. Hailey, the counter person helping us was so helpful and patient- one of the most helpful and patient people I've ever interacted with at a store. She answered our numerous questions and called over the manager when she didn't know the answer to our Yelp free beverage when you purchase a sandwich check in. I got the chachi sandwich on a hard roll, all my hopes and dreams have been fulfilled- what a delicious sandwich. My friend got the Budda, she said it needed vegetables and the bacon was really good. I got a kombucha hemp drink made locally in CT for my free bevvie and my friend got a Joe's Berry Lemonade. My friend is looking forward to returning here regularly on the way to her job to pick up some lunch. They have an extensive sandwich and breakfast selection, tons of drinks and snack options, coffee and tea, and a yogurt bar to make your own parfait. They also have an atm, and sell milk by the half gallon and gallon. There are 3 tables inside a few parking spots out front that's a little hard to get out if you're going to the highway and really good small town vibes inside. I'll be returning here to get my Chachi fix when I'm back in town. They open at 5:30AM pretty sweet. They do breakfast all day. What's not to love? read more

This place was super busy and for good reason. We picked food up. Friendly service, quick execution, & delicious sandwich

The only thing good about this place is the crispy fries. We ordered the chachi, the bubba, tuna salad, and two orders of crispy fries. The deli is on a busy street right off of 95 with little to no parking. Staff is super limited and the deli is dirty. Online they have a big picture of a salad bar which is non existent. We tried calling two times before coming in to order lunch and the phone rings busy. The bubba is literally roast beef deli sliced meat heated a bit w bbq sauce and cheddar cheese. The chachi was the better of the two sandwiches w a crispy cutlet and avocado. The tuna salad is nothing special and is weighed by the pound. The salad I was provided was a bowl of lettuce with one grape tomato and two shreds of pepper and onion. Pricing isn't on any of the menu boards and you aren't offered a receipt after paying. Sadly this place is way too hit or miss for me. I have grabbed lunch there over the years but the chaos of the 16-18 year olds carrying on conversations and not taking orders correctly because they're trying to get back chatting. Usually 4-5 younger kids working there and they don't seem to care. One girl cooking and sometimes a helper on the grill. Seems to get a lot of over phone orders placed so maybe they get big ordered correctly. Sadly their rolls are never fresh and most of the time the order isn't correct. Stay away! I have lived across the street from this deli for four years. Every time I try to give it another chance I regret it. It is without, fail the worst deli I've ever been to. The hard rolls are never fresh. They have different employees every other week. If you want a 16 year making your food with 0 care in the world then this is the spot for you. I live 100 feet from this place and will drive 10 minutes down the road for a bacon egg and cheese. How hard is it to make a good breakfast sandwich? For this deli, it's very hard. The interior really requires some serious updating. I know we aren't eating the interior but hey - it says a lot about you & your joint don't ya think? It was hot, stuffy, packed w people & retail/stuff lining every wall. Not the cleanest place I've happened upon for a sandwich to go. Mikes is always a great way to start my day upon arriving in Norwalk. After getting off 95 from my trip to CT (either coming from NJ or Boston) the first thing I think about is lunch for the boat and Mike's is conveniently located right there and next to a Dunkin Donuts as well. I am a fan of their chicken salad, turkey, and seafood salad. However, my usual sandwich is breaded chicken, lettuce, tomato, with oil, vinegar, hot peppers, and mozz on a round roll, yummm. They also have daily hot specials that look pretty good as well. Everything is very reasonably priced and everything I have gotten here has always tasted fresh. Their selection isn't as extensive as delis I am used to but they have your basics and some creative sandwiches. I think it serves as the perfect stop before your day on the boat. It is also way more of a takeout place than sit down. The people who take your order are always super-friendly. I have always stopped here and I will continue to do so upon my arrival into Norwalk. read more

Stopped in on my walk to the train to grab lunch. I grew up in Norwalk, but never had the urge until now to stop here, only for convenience sake. I'm a huge fan of thanksgiving wraps so that caught my eye first on the menu. Excited, I waited until I got to the platform to open it up. I have been here about 3x and usually order the kit Kat on a Portuguese roll. Good breakfast sandwich with a nice spicy kick. The deli is a pretty standard typical deli. Clean small mom and pop shop with some good sandwiches. Every time I've been here (usually Saturday/Sunday mornings) there is usually a few people waiting in line before me or waiting for their sandwiches.. I don't think service is slow.. no more than 5-10 minutes wait. Friendly staff. Will definitely be back next time I'm in town. read more

I'm from NYC where delis are a dime a dozen but good ones really make their mark. Mike's has lots of homemade goodies to offer on top of the staple of cold cut sandwiches. Every day has some different specials and their salad bar is decent despite its small size. - The Buddha sandwich is the bomb. Chicken cutlet with bacon, hot sauce, and cheese. It's probably bad for you but it is one good sandwich. - Their onion rings are pretty good too. Sometimes they're a little too greasy but it's not too shabby, especially coming from a deli. The batter on them is addictive and the onions are soft enough so that they don't always pull out when you bite into them. - I've had their chicken salad which was nice. I arrived at 8:30 AM on a Sunday morning, and while I expect that to be a busier time, I was not expecting to have to wait 15 minutes just to order. There were maybe 6 people there waiting that had already ordered and the high school kids working behind the counter had zero sense of urgency to take care of their customers. I have worked a few blocks from Mike's Deli for 16 years, and Mike's is my go-to place for lunch and the occasional breakfast sandwich. Great selection of sandwiches, hot items, beverages, chips, and other snacks. The salad bar is the best in the area - always full of fresh, yummy options including cheeses, grilled chicken, and a variety of toppings. The fruit and yogurt bar, as well as the homemade soup are also favorites. Mike's is always packed at lunchtime - which can make the wait a little longer, but it's worth the wait. Apparently everybody in the area knows the best place to go for lunch! Favorites are the GeGe sandwich, the Granny Smith sandwich, the Giovanni sandwich, and the New England clam chowder. An Employee at Mikes Deli made my life easier today and I am so thankful to her. My company started it's busy season so I am working my usual 13 hour days. This morning after getting in my car I realized I forgot to make lunch for my son. Time was 05:45 a.m. no problem just go to Mike's Deli. While ordering my son's turkey and cheese sandwich the counter person asked if the sandwich was for an adult or a child. I said "child" and casually told her that I forgot my son's lunch. After leaving I started pulling out my items out of the plastic bag to place them in his book bag I noticed that she wrote "have a nice day" on a paper and placed that note on the outside of the protected wax paper that covered the sandwich and neatly wrapped the sandwich in a saran wrapped square. She also added a white lunch bag. I placed his drink and sandwich in the white bag that she provided and he was covered for lunch today. I love ordering from Mike's for quality food. Now I love them for going the extra mile. This busy mom is thankful. read more

My husband and I have been here many times. Every time there is always something either forgotten on the sandwich or it's just terrible service or a terrible sandwich. One time I ordered a ham egg and cheese and there was 1 slice of ham on it, 1!!!!! The wait can be up to a half hour. Several times either my husband or I got our sandwiches with missing either the cheese, bacon, breakfast potatoes etc... the workers are way too young, they don't care, and they are slow. Just today my husband went to try you guys one last time and you forgot to put the cheese on that he paid for. That is what prompted this review. Stopped in last Sunday to get lunch for the first time. Ordered the Buddha sandwich and onion rings both very good and both were put into one bag (which was too small), but because of the ridiculous plastic bag ruling in Norwalk, a bag with a handle wasn't available. Due to a disability, walking with a cane and trying to hold a bag in my other hand is difficult, not to mention needing to open the door to exit. Seeing my predicament, one of the guys from behind the counter came to my rescue, he opened the door for me, took my bag and then put both the bag and my wallet in my car for me.
