From the moment you walk in, you're treated like a regular even if it's your first time. The ingredients are always fresh, the portions are massive, and you can tell they actually care about the food they're serving. So far, I have not been disappointed with any of my orders. I always try to get something different but its so hard to choose because everything is just so good!!! I was at work and craving a breakfast sandwich, so I checked Yelp and found Dave and Charlie's…read moreHometown Deli. I decided to give it a shot, and I got greeted as soon as I walked in. The staff was super friendly, and I ordered a Bacon, Egg, and Cheese. It was made on a Brioche roll with a fried egg. Honestly, I wasn't a huge fan of the egg or the sandwich overall. It was okay, probably a three-star kind of thing. Next time I went back, I tried the Calise sandwich, which has chicken cutlet, broccoli rabe, roasted peppers, fresh mozzarella, prosciutto, and balsamic glaze. I asked for the broccoli rabe on the side because I know everyone makes it differently. I get that it can be bitter, but some places make it taste amazing without the bitterness, so I wanted it on the side. The sandwich was really good, so I'd give it four stars, especially since the breakfast one was just three in my book. Sometimes you gotta visit a place a couple of times to really get a feel for their food. I wasn't really a fan of the broccoli rabe--it was a bit too bitter for me. But the sandwich itself was tasty, with well-seasoned chicken and really fresh mozzarella. Not sure if they make the mozzarella in-house, but it's delicious. It tasted just like you'd expect from an authentic Italian deli. Very good. Third time I went, I tried the Mother Clucker, which has a chicken cutlet, Russian dressing, cheddar cheese, and bacon. I wanted to try it because I'd seen it being made during my last visit and it looked awesome. It took about ten minutes to get ready. When I opened it up, I realized it had melted cheddar, not sliced like I thought, but it was all good. The sandwich was tasty, but a bit over the top with the bacon and melted cheddar--almost too much. I think using sliced cheddar would bring everything together better. The melted cheese kinda takes away from it, in my opinion. The bacon was crispy even with the cheesy sauce on top, and the chicken was nicely seasoned. I definitely plan to come back and try the Chopped Italian Combo. The staff's always friendly and welcoming, and it's a solid spot if you're looking for breakfast, with plenty of breakfast platters and other menu items that might catch your eye.

"A good deli does not need to impress you. It just needs to show up when you need it."…read more Mama Carmela's is the kind of place that quietly fills that role in a town. It may not try to reinvent the sandwich, but it delivers something dependable. My girlfriend and I both ordered the Middlesex sandwich. It was solid and satisfying, built with good portions and the kind of ingredients you expect from a neighborhood deli. The bread held everything together well and the balance of meats and toppings made it an easy, straightforward lunch. Nothing overly fancy, but it gets the job done. Service was quick and efficient. Orders moved through the counter at a steady pace and the staff kept things running smoothly. It felt like a place that knows its regular crowd and understands that most people are stopping in for a reliable bite rather than a long dining experience. The ambiance matches that deli identity. It is casual, simple, and functional. A small local spot where people come in, grab a sandwich, and head back to their day. It has that comfortable neighborhood energy without trying to be anything more than it needs to be. Mama Carmela's earns three stars as a reliable deli. Not necessarily a destination, but definitely a dependable stop when you are craving a good sandwic

Everything arrived cold, overcooked, and burnt. On top of that, it was salty but somehow still had no real flavor. I also asked for cheese and it was not added. Portions were smaller than expected for some of the items. We ordered one platter, two breakfast sandwiches, fries, and two drinks. The order included two eggs with home fries, rye toast with butter, bacon, and a sausage patty, plus a bacon egg and cheese on white bread and another on a hard roll. The hot chocolate was literally a cup of hot water with one Swiss Miss packet, which was surprising. My iced coffee came black with no cream included and it tasted burnt. Overall, the meal was not worth what we paid and most of it was honestly inedible. I really wanted to like this place because it has great reviews everywhere, so maybe this was just a really bad day for them. Still, based on this experience, I don't think we'll be ordering from here again.
