My wife and I, have been loyal customers of Spring Primavera Restaurant for nearly 15 years. Over this long period, we have never once been acknowledged or treated as regulars, on our visits to the restaurant, which is both disappointing and unacceptable. Every time we visit, we travel approximately an hour and a half just to dine at Spring. On many occasions, we have also brought friends with us, recommending the restaurant because we enjoy the food so much. During our last visit, we entered the restaurant and waited at the entrance. After a significant amount of time, the lady finally showed us to a table but did not personally accommodate us. We then waited a long time to be served, not by her, but after requesting assistance from another gentleman nearby, who also did not seem inclined to provide proper service. I find it hard to believe he did not recognize us as the regular customers we are. I am seriously questioning whether I should continue coming to your restaurant. After this experience, or rather, because we have never been treated as regular customers, it is impossible that the staff, who are always the same, do not recognize us visually. We continue to come and have recommended your restaurant to friends because the food is excellent and reasonably priced. However, the service has consistently been rude, brusque, and lacking the basic courtesy owed to loyal patrons. We enjoy the food, but I must be clear: the poor service is unacceptable, and it cannot be overlooked any longer. I hope this is taken seriously, as customer loyalty deserves respect. Thank you. Overpriced dried out food and ignorant staff more preoccupied with guarding their lot by accusing patrons of parking there illegally than creating a welcoming environment where guests actually feel comfortable spending time. I recently went back after years as a family member had a gathering in this location. Next time, I will highly recommend moving to a different space with higher quality food and a more inclusive and welcoming atmosphere. As a side note, I am not sure why the owner implied I did not visit the restaurant in the previous review. Perhaps they are trying to discredit me? My views are my own and were formed independently, however, they are shared by several others who express similar opinions. It is unfortunate that the owner tried to use deception and misinformation as a tactic to discredit unfavorable critique rather than reflecting on how they might use the valuable insights of their patrons as an opportunity to self reflect and improve. The owner of this place will run over you after they get their money. Absolutely rude and unprofessional on every level including, but not limited to booking overlapping events that intrude on the space others have paid for. Food isn't the best and I can't even begin to describe how many better options there are in the area. I feel incredibly awful that the waitstaff, which was great was overshadowed by a complete narcissist of an owner with zero respect on all levels for a party that spent thousands just to feel cramped and disrespected with marginal tasting food.. I was taken to lunch there today and was blown away with their food. We ordered, well to be honest my friend ordered for me, their Bacalhau Gomes de Sa-sautéed codfish - meal & the Ameijoas a bulhao pato - appetizer and both were absolutely delicious. On top of that their staff were great and the service was second to none. read more

Attempted to go to Spring Primavera today for lunch. I pulled into their empty (one other car) parking lot and saw that my friend was running a little late. I decided that while I was waiting I'd go into the cafe next door to check it out and get something cold to drink. As I locked my vehicle a man from the restaurant yelled at me from across the road appeared agitated and was waving his arms at me. He was quite intimidating. Not exactly welcoming. I figured patronizing two local businesses was a good thing. Apparently Spring Primavera doesn't think so. I got in my vehicle and left. Calling my friend to have her meet me somewhere else. Then I called the restaurant to tell them about what had happened. The woman who answered the phone was immediately very abrasive and argumentative and started ranting about her lawyer and saying lots of not very nice things about the cafe and it's patrons. I was very disappointed in the lack of professionalism. Clearly this local resident patronizing two local businesses clearly wasn't valued at all. I try my best to spend my money locally but apparently they don't need our business even though the parking lot was empty. So much for trying to do good. read more

If I could rate this place negative stars I would. We had an event here and we were packed in a room with 3 other parties so tightly you could barely walk between tables. The owner was INCREDIBLY rude and unprofessional, absolutely unaccommodating and stuck the guests of honor on the outskirts of the party. Our cake table was shoved in a corner next to the bathroom door and coat rack which is absolutely disgusting. When I moved a table slightly so that my disabled mother in law could get by one of the owners came running into the event room yelling at me to not move the tables. The owner got in a screaming match with me with such a bad attitude, she wouldn't even turn the lights on for me while I was decorating, which we couldn't use half the decorations bc of the lack of space we were given. Then I heard her talking negatively about me loudly in the main area in front of all the customers. The waitstaff was sweet and friendly, the fish was good but the rest of the food was tough, dry and cold. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THESE RUDE UNGRATEFUL PEOPLE. I parked my car and was waiting for a friend, when I saw (what I think was) the owner yelling at a car to move because they accidentally parked there to go a different shop in the area. The people in the car clearly didn't realize the parking lot was for the restaurant only and apologized, but they were still being screamed at. It was handled very unprofessionally. I've been coming here for many years, the food is consistently good, friendly staff, portions are very big and the prices are very fair. I always tend to go for the Shrimp Mozambique and it's always delicious. My husband tried the Baked Stuffed Shrimp last night, it came with 5 very large shrimp and he said it was really good. I am not one to make reviews on here but given my experience, I need to share & save others from making the same mistake of giving this restaurant their time and money. I could not use a single positive word to describe my experience at this establishment. Our waitress was extremely rude, the women's restroom was out of toilet paper & we waited 40 mins for lousy food & an incorrect dish. I ordered the Beef Kabob & the waitress gave me the Swordfish, a dish I never would've ordered. When I was shocked by my dish, the waitress proceeded to yell at me and my family members that it was my fault & I ordered incorrectly, not that she had made a mistake. She refused to return the meal or prepare a new one, though we offered to pay for both. I was extremely disappointed by the way she treated us and the way this treatment was accepted by staff. Additionally, not one member in my party was pleased with the quality of their meal. I would recommend redirecting your patronage to other Portuguese Restaurants in the area that serve amazing food & even more amazing staff (a perfect example: Fall River Grill). read more

If I could I would rate this 0 starts! My husband and I went into this restaurant for just a quick bite we didn't want anything too much since our daughter was on a school game so we decided to just have a small appetizer and talk. The Waiter came to our table put there napkins and bread and took our order and we said that would be it (mind you the restaurant was empty and there was only one table besides ours) the waiter rudely said that that wasn't enough to pay for the table and said that if we wanted to order they said to sit on the bar and took our napkins and took the bread from our table. I understand if the restaurant was full just appetizer for a table is kind annoying but saying something like this on the open where other people could hear I was very embarrassed, I was mistreated and I don't recommend this place to anyone, and to the rude waiter I hope you start treating every costumer with respect no matter what they order since you need those costumer to pay your salary and to keep the restaurant open. read more

We celebrated a baptism this past Sunday at Primavera Restaurant. The staff was friendly and courteous. The food was served family style, and the portions were generous. The food was served hot and fresh and empty platters were replaced with full platters almost immediately. I will look forward to coming back. I give this place an A+ read more

This review is mostly to respond to the two most recent negative reviews this business received. Anna C. The bride and all those who were part of planning the reception were informed about all prices prior to booking the event. Those same people were also informed that a total guest count had to exceed upwards of 150-180 to be a private event. Joey C. All parties are given the choice of hiring their own DJ's when booking an event; this being an option normally used for private events (which this particular event was not). The event planners are also informed that if the event is not private that the DJ is in service to the entire restaurant and not just a single event. Your anger is misdirected at the restaurant and its staff when in reality those who planned the event were made aware that the day would be shared with the public. Feel free to go in and ask the owners about their events policies and what is to be expected at an event. The business has been open for over 40 years under the same ownership and has serviced many events successfully, including weddings, by sticking to its policies and making them clear to the customer. read more

OMG! My friend and I visited this restaurant on Tuesday, 11/5/19. We sat down and he asked us immediately what we wanted before we even looked at the menu. Didn't even ask us if we wanted a cocktail. In the meantime, his kids were running through The restaurant like the most unruly kids I have ever seen. I ordered pork alajante . The pork and potatoes were overloaded and came with 4 illegal small clams. The owner was rude from the get-go and when I brought to his attention the parsimonious clam content, he told me that, "this is the best pork and clams in all of New England". Needless to say, the rude behavior continued throughout the whole dining experience. When it came time for him to bring us the bill, he took his sweet time. Mind you, the whole time he was rushing us through the meal! We were so disappointed that we decided that leaving him a tip would be inappropriate. We then left and as we were getting into the car he ran after us and quote.."don't you ever come back here again!" It's people like you who ruin the world". And as a lovely side note, we were in there for about 80 minutes and not one patron came in! Oh and by the way, both I and my dining companion are generous tippers. She treats you like an announce more than a customer. She yelled at me because she said i didn't give her the right count when I did. She had 4 parties going on at the same time. They jammed all these people in the room which could note be safe. She rushed people out the door so she can turn the room over for her evening dinner. My guest weren't even done and she had her staff cleaning the tables and folding the extra tables to get us out or like she said "the hint" . Absolutely horrible, taste your food before you serve it and refund the money if its not good to eat. Chicken was hard, chewy and when we complained they told us thats what we ordered. Yes we ordered it, so it should be the quality we paid for. Never again will they have me go there. When I mentioned to the waiter his response was "I'm not the boss" then I said get your boss and she said no refunds. Well you need to give fresh food and some of the plates were not eat able. also we waited over an hour for service in a empty restaurant. Went to a 50th anniversary party, was the first time for the both of us. the meal served family style, was not very good. the chicken was dry the pork with little necks was tough, the only bright spot was the french fries.The waitstaff seemed overwhelmed, only one bartender. I have been doing all my special events at Primavera/Spring since I got married almost 26 years ago I had my wedding reception there all my kids Baptism parties and my grandkids Baptisms. In October we had Tristen's Baptism there and I spoke with the owner about having Justina's wedding there. Carminda the owner said yeah sure I will mark it down on the calendar and as long as I had 180 people I could have the private room. Fast forward to May 2021 covid is over and restrictions are lifted all of a sudden they no longer want to do private events on Saturday night so my choices were to change the wedding date to a Friday or Sunday if I wanted it private or to have it not private which was unacceptable because I already had the church, photo booth, DJ and Photographer booked so that left me to look for another venue 4 months before the wedding. I feel that they were very unprofessional if they had changed their policy they should have at least honored the commitments they already had booked. Maybe been a little apologetic or offered a discount for the inconvieniece but nope nothing. 2nd of all we had a 26 year friendship that they just flushed down the toilet. Absolute WORST experience ive ever had at a restaurant. Granted it was Christmas . Asked for a pitcher of water as ive seen others have pitchers of water and soda before. And after i asked because one small glass of water ... I WAS TOLD TO BUY A BOTTLE OF WATER. Owner came by , most disrespectful person i'd dealt with for "service@ at any restaurant ive been to. Asked if i could have 3 glasses of water because (asked for the pitcher bc our waiter was VERY busy wasnt around for 25+ minutes at the time) and yes was told to buy a mini bottle of water from them. Owner was shoutinf over mt aunts shoulder about the water and my grandmothers had tears in her eyes. Also the OWNER brought up the fact that we had one issue a YEAR ago with a hair being in the food and complaining about that, but still paid for the plate. DONT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR MONEY. I love this little restaurant. The portuguese meats are always perfectly cooked, tender, very flavorful. My favorite however is the baked stuffed shrimp or the fried scallops. Always fresh, tasty seafood. The prices are fair, atmosphere quaint. They do charge for refills on drinks which is kinda a bummer but the food can't be beat. read more

First off I used to love going to this restaurant I went to this place for years I had family weddings here, baby showers, celebrations, etc.. so tonight my beautiful cousin gets married and the night started off pretty good my sister who was the maid of honor said her speech followed by the best man who of course said what he had to say as well.. so the songs start playing and right off the bat they are songs that everyone can enjoy todays music yesterdays music the whole nine.. I waited patiently for a slow song so I could go on the dance floor and dance with my girl which yes they delivered with that. After the slow song I went up to the DJ and kindly asked him can you please play This I promise you by as a lot of you know *NSYNC.. He replied yes. So of course I'm not expecting him to play it right away so I wait a good ten minutes then half hour all of a sudden an hour goes by then two hours go by!!!!.. I'm starting to get aggravated the asshole didn't play the song I requested which really pissed me off because I told my girl I requested that song for us and of course she was looking forward to slow dancing with me to it because it is a great song for couples. I'm not even close to done yet!! So as I said earlier my sister the maid of honor helped out my cousin the bride for tonight with a playlist on songs they wanted to be played.. like I said earlier the beginning of the night maybe the first half hour to an hour wasn't bad but once we got deeper into the night not only me but everyone started realizing the moron of a DJ wasn't playing any of the songs that my sister and the bride had requested!!.. it was Portuguese music literally 95% of the night!!!! I understand it's a Portuguese restaurant but on your special day it's WHAT YOU WANT!!!!! Not what the DJ wants!!!!.. so I overhear that one of my family members talked to the owner about all this and of course another idiot!! The owner doesn't wanna do shit about it!! I don't give a crap your the owner you can tell the DJ that he isn't playing the right music!!!!.. You guys lost my business and trust me you lost my family's business as well!!!!.. It's a real neighborhood place, full of Portuguese families who all seem to know each other. But (unlike some local Portuguese restaurants) it's very friendly, very welcoming to new folks. Food is traditional: lots of steak and pork and potatoes, not many vegetables. Kale soup was delicious. Prices are good, portions very large.
