Dined in for a birthday celebration. The focaccia was delicious accompanied with whipped ricotta and kalamata olive tapenade. For mains we ordered the pomodoro and boar pappardelle. The Pomodoro was light and fresh, the boar ragu was hearty and filling. Good portion sizes. Also recieved a free tiramisu for a birthday.
Sprezzatura! A simple Italian word with so many meanings. I'll go with "Effortless Elegance" for my definition of it. AND that's is what you will find here. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Located in the Mount Pleasant area of Vancouver, the Sprezzatura staff serves up elevated Italian food in a cool high ceiling place with chill vibes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You can say "upscale dining, done casually right" and you can quote me on it.. seriously, that's my quote! I hope!!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seated next to the large windows, sunshine and happiness glows through onto our table and lighting up all the colours of our meal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The taste their Mushroom pizza - savoury goodness. The pasta - al dente and delicious. Let's not snore on a good affogato! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Patio season is winding down, so if you get a chance to visit and the weather is cooperating, the patio is the way to go - especially if you brought your fav four-legged friend.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] All in all, a great time at a great place. Cozy vibes inside with outdoor patio seating available. The server was friendly and quick, came by decently often to check on us. The pizzas were good, but the pomodoro pasta and boar papperdelle (both with burrata) were very lackluster. I've definitely had better. Flavours weren't vibrant and lively, it was pretty bland. The sauce was flat, and the meat was... stringy and flavorless. Might consider ordering a pizza the next time, but probably wouldn't go back.

Gotta say I loved the pear and walnut salad and the pizza crusts were just how I like it... bubbly and crisp. One of us had the spaghetti carbonara and the pasta itself was perfectly cooked, but the sauce a little bland. Go for the pizzas!
This is a rare case of me wanting to try a restaurant because of the atmosphere more than the actual menu. I would always walk by here and think it looked so relaxed but classy. So I decided to treat myself and give it a try. I sat outside on the patio, very nice atmosphere. I almost wish I'd stayed inside just to get a better look at the inside of the restaurant, which I thought was pretty in the short look I got. The service was excellent. My waiter was super friendly and the food came out quickly enough. The drink menu has some cocktails/mocktails featuring Italian drinks that are less common here as mixers, which is cool, and I will want to try a mixed drink if I visit again. But at the time I was feeling beer, where the selection is more basic. They have 3 mainstay beers on tap, and 3 rotators, but the rotators looked very similar to the mainstays (same type of beer, different brewery). I got the rotating lager, the aptly-named Laser Lite Lager by Rewind Brewing, very clear and light for easy, pleasant drinking. The food menu is all very classic dishes. I got the pasta pomodoro, which could not be more basic in composition, but I was actually really impressed by it. The simplicity made the quality very obvious. The sauce had a super bright, fresh flavour and the pasta was very al dente. I got the amaro brownie for dessert. The brownie itself was a good fudgy brownie but nothing remarkable, but the sauce and nutty whipped mascarpone were REALLY good. I think the food is a little overpriced - it was good, but relatively simple and portions aren't huge (the brownie was big enough to share, but at $15, that was an expectation). However, the prices are similar to prices at other semi-high-end Italian restaurants. That aside, I had a great experience so I'd happily recommend this restaurant.
I love saying the name of this restaurant, it's so fun! I booked my family in for dinner here as my partner and I have been wanting to try it for awhile now - great patio space and the inside of the restaurant is really pretty! That also have a private long table room for parties. We luckily were there for "wine Wednesday" so they have half litres and litres on for 50% off! Such a great bargain! We ordered two pizzas and two pastas. The pizzas were $5 off since we ordered during happy hour 3pm-6pm every weekday! Another great bonus! The mushroom pizza was delicious and my fave of the two between it and the potato pizza! I am a fan of potato pizza, it may sound odd to some but it's really good! Good cheese distro on both pizzas but could have some with some chilli oil for dipping the crust!! The pastas we got were cacio w pepe which for Me lacked the pepe part! The pasta was good but it was skewing more on the cheeesey side sans a nice peppery flavour that I really wanted. The boar parpadelle was outstanding!! We also got a meat ball on top which was so damn good! Would definitely order the meatballs and the boar pasta again / so flavourful and the parpadelle was nice and chewy and fresh! Service was good as well and we had a lovely meal. Would definitely go back!!
I hate when this happens. The poor service really took away from what could have been a very nice meal. Excruciatingly long waits for service. A drink took 15 minutes, several items were forgotten, appys came out after the main course, and between each visit from our server was probably 20-25 minutes. Worst of all, the place was quite empty so these long delays were confusing and our server didn't understand our frustration (played the blame game). That made it hard to truly enjoy the food. The pizza - old school, floppy, decently bold flavours. A pizza is enough for one person to be quite full. The space itself is trendy and spacious. In the bottoms of a big building. Concrete slabs with high ceilings. I appreciate the restaurant comping a drink in compensation but just was a drag of a time overall. The food wasn't good enough to overcome this/make me want to return by choice.
We came here to celebrate two occasions in the past few months and both times were a fan of their pizzas. We LOVE the truffle mushroom-- we haven't yet worked through all the variety but this is one we get time and time again. The pear and baby gem salad we had more recently was mediocre -- the gems didn't taste very fresh (lacking in crunch). We've had a better salad here before. Service the first time was good, second time not so seamless and felt like we were a bit forgotten as we sat by the windows. 5 star for the truffle mushroom pizza 4 star for the aperol spritz 3.5 star averaging our service both times 3 star on appetizers 3 star on service
Nice newly renovated/opened airy place with a high ceiling. Excellent happy hour deals but somehow our dishes came out just warm not hot. Prices are reasonable so I may go back..
For my sons birthday, we decided to try this new artisan pizza place. Let me just say, it truly is one o the best pizza places around. We started with bruschetta and toasted crostini. The salsa tasted freshly made and just came off the chopping board. Seasoned perfectly. Simple yet delicious. Then we had the roast macNcheese, pork belly entree, pork belly pizza, arugula and prosciutto pizza, and the mushroom pizza. The macN cheese was a bit of a let down...too dry and not moist at all. Under seasoned and the cheese wasnt ooey and gooey, as it should be. This was the least liked dish of the night. The pork belly entree was excellent. Meat was So juicy and tender. The skin was crisp and crackling. Nice execution. The accompanying salad was also amazing. Arugula with garlic and artichokes, and a drizzle Of olive oil. So rustic but tantalizing to the taste buds. All the pizzas were equally amazing. The crust thin and almost crispy...the edges had the right amount of burnt smokiness. Quality ingredients and toppings galore. The pork belly pizza had shaved thin roasted pork belly on them. Nice texture profile of saltiness and tartness from the cheese and white sauce base. But the star of the night was the mushroom pizza. With a combination of several kinds of mushroom and drizzled with aromatic truffle oil...wow! The aroma alone will make you drool. Very very earthy and exquisite at the same time. Service was amazing. Fast and efficient and accurate. We ordered a lemon mousse dessert which turned out to be so good. ( forgot to take a pic). Rich and lemony but the quality of the mousse was superior than most. Best part, it was given free for my son as it was his birthday. I hope the place offers more choices for pasta and pizza flavours. Im sure they will excel as well. Cheers Happy eating!
Menu: good variety. Reminiscent of Roman restaurants Food: amazing paparadelle, rich and flavourful but not too overpowering. The carbonara was beautifully cooked out of the kitchen - creamy and smooth. We let it sit and cool for too long though and it started to get a bit lumpy once it was lukewarm, but that's all carbonara. Truffle mushroom pizza was amazing. Light thin crust and fluffy but crisp on the outside shell. Panna cotta - lovely mandarin flavour with the smooth creamy panna cotta. Tiramisu - pretty standard Price: a bit high for what it is Service: super friendly, a bit on the slower side but it was a Friday night
Delicious pizza ! This is my second time visiting Sprezzatura! I brought my friends this time. I had the Mushroom pizza again and it still has a pizza mah heart! The fragrant truffle oil makes me want to eat the whole thing. They were generous with the toppings The feature pizza, Pepperoni and Spiced Honey was also pretty good. The Beer Braised Free range beef was very flavorful with beefy flavor and it was very tender. We did not get to try the dessert so hoping to try that next time. The only complaints was that on a hot day, we couldn't feel the AC. It was a bit tough to get our server's attention since the restaurant was pretty spacious and he has to also manage the patio seating area too. Protip: Pizzas are $5 off during happy hour everyday (3-5pm)
I've been here a few times now and gotta say I'm a fan. The pizzas here are really good. Quality toppings and nice crunchy crust. I haven't tried anything else cuz the pizzas were so good. They also have a decent selection of beers and wine. The service when I came the first couple of times was great. I had the same server, she was really nice. The last time the server was ok, she kinda disappeared for a while and it wasn't busy at all. The place is nice and clean and they have a patio along Kingsway. There is I believe free 2 hour parking out front on Kingsway....

Centrally located & spacious, Sprezzatura is a great spot for happy hours, with their Aperol Spritz & large selection of food deals to choose from. Truffle Mushroom Pizza (5/5) Taste: This was my favourite dish, the mushrooms taste wild and meaty, pairing nicely with the truffle cream sauce. Not too heavy in truffle flavor, but well balanced! Portion Size: Good to share between 2 people (8 small slices) Mint Beet Medley (4/5) Taste: Refreshing, yet creamy at the same time. Unique flavours blending mushroom seeds with beets, but it works! A nice pairing to cut through the richness of pizza/pasta dishes. Portion Size: Small, shareable portion between 2 people Boar Pappardelle (3/5) Taste: Felt like this pasta and the flavours lacked dimension, a pretty standard pappardelle dish! Portion Size: Available in half, full, or family order. Value for Money: Good value for happy hour & group dining! For regular dinner there are likely better Italian spots to go to, but definitely worth coming for a social hangout spot! read more

Went to Sprezzatura on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Their space is pretty big and can easily accommodate bigger groups.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] For appies we got their rosemary and thyme focaccia which was pretty good and came with balsamic vinegar which definitely paired really well with the bread. For mains, I got their prosciutto and arugula pizza which was recommended by the staff. Honestly, I thought it was ok. I thought the base sauce lacked flavour and the prosciutto could've been seasoned a bit. The other pizza I tried was their truffle mushroom pizza, I LOVED IT! It was so creamy and garlicky. 5/5 for that! I might come back for it. For pasta, we tried their pomodoro which was pretty good! Their service was good, really fast! This was hands down the best pepperoni pizza I've ever had! Taking a bite of the pepperoni afterwards took me off guard. I mean, how good can the classic pepperoni pizza be?! Well, it was damn good! I might have to start ordering pepperoni pizza more often now and put some spiced honey on top. We also ordered many other pizzas, including: Pepperoni, N'Duja, Spicy Lamb, and Margherita. I was most excited for the Spicy Lamb and it was really good. But the star of the show was definitely the pepperoni! Also, our service was super nice and helpful, accommodating for our group of 7 people. Great customer service. read more
Mangiare! Another splendid restaurant has opened up in my ol elementary days hood - Mount Pleasant! Just don't ask how long ago that was - Geezus that was some time ago! Ha! Located on Kingsway at 11th Ave, a prime spot close to the Main, Kingsway, & Broadway streets connections to go east west, downtown or continue south on Main. I love MP - so funky fresh revived, cool & shiny new! More to come still by the looks of it - new buildings & restuarants are still coming! The interior design of this joint is spectacular, inviting, relaxing, colorful & reminds me of lazy chill out days we all need! Decided on a Capicolla pizza. I was told Gorgonzola was a blue cheese - what!?! Hold up now! I stopped myself just before I took my first bite - in absolute panic mode! I hate blue cheese - it's too over powering for me can't stand it! However, to my shock & awe, this type of blue cheese was surprisingly delightful!!! I couldn't believe my taste buds were accepting what I was putting in my mouth!?!! My pizza was amazing!!! I would definitely have it again! I really enjoyed my experience here. Our waiter was genuine, funny and competent We ordered the mushroom pizza as well as the pear walnut salad to start. This salad was so good. I made sure we did not leave anything behind. At first I wasn't sure because of the radishes but they are not strong at all. The pizza was also good, but very thin for those that are wondering. I dug into it so fast I forgot to take a picture. I enjoyed both dishes. The ambiance was very casual but lovely. I am definitely coming back here, especially for that salad! read more
We had a fantastic dinner here a couple weeks ago. We sat on the sunny patio to enjoy the recent hot weather in Vancouver. For drinks, we started off with the daiquiri which was refreshing but slightly misleading to be calling it a daiquiri. We were expecting a slushy type drink to cool down with but this was more of just a standard cocktail. Still very delicious but just wasn't what we were expecting. We followed up with a litre of the house white wine which was also very refreshing! For food, we started out with the burrata and prosciutto appetizer. Good quality and packed with tons of flavour. We followed up with the pork belly entrée which included a fair portion of pork belly on a bed of salad. It was topped with a vinaigrette that added the perfect freshness to balance out the entire dish. We also shared the spicy meatball pizza (not very spicy at all) and the crust was perfectly thin (knife and fork kind of pizza) with delicious meatball toppings. Will definitely be back! read more
Ordered from here on Uber eats. Was pleasantly surprised! One of the best pizza places we have had so far in Vancouver. Lots of vegetarian friendly choices. We went for the special- potatoe slices with tallegio cheese... Wow what a explosion of flavours! So delicious! Also had the vegetarian, which was not bad, but not as wonderful as the other pizza... Will go for the Margherita next time. Also had the cheese plate and the farro and roasted vegetable salad. All very delicious. Tried the tiramisu for dessert, that was probably the low point of our meal. But cannot wait to try more of their menu! Would definitely recommend! read more

While on a trip to Vancouver, I was seriously craving some good pizza. The reviews and photos for this place were great, and it was a 10 minute walk from where my event was, so kismet, I headed over. It's a really nice space with both indoor and outdoor seating. The atmosphere is a modern European style cafe vibe. I went around 6ish and it was pretty empty so not too noisy or crowded, which I appreciated. However, even with this, the service was a tad slow. It took over 30 minutes for my pizza to be ready and it wasn't hot. I ordered the mushroom pizza and asked for the chili honey (saw that on another pizza and felt like it'd be perfect for mine). The pizza is very thin crust and is sliced into about eight slices. I specify because I actually ate the whole thing comfortably haha. I *could* have shared it if there was another person with me, but I recommend 2+ pizzas for larger parties because they're pretty light--unless you're going for appetizers and dessert. Here's another place to check off for the pizza lovers out there! They have a really great variety of pizza options that we don't see around often ranging from roasted pork belly, spicy meatball, n'duja and more! And if you are there to share make sure you try out their roast selections as well, which includes pork belly braised beef, free range chicken and some more! Both the pork belly pizza and braised beef we ordered are delish and perfect for the meat lovers! Pork Belly was thinly sliced on the pizza full of flavour. And the braised beef just melts in your mouth with a good amount of roasted potatoes to soak up the stout beer jus! And if you want to go for a deal make sure you visit a little earlier for their happy hour daily from 3pm to 5pm. They have $5 off pizza and drink specials! The radler they have there is superb too! read more

I was very happy with my order from here. I ordered through Uber Eats during these covid times. It was quickly delivered and well-packaged. I had the mushroom pizza and the meatballs. The oizza crust was perfect for my liking, thin, slightly salted and and soft texture. The mushrooms and cheese were delicious. The meatballs were good as well but could have a bit more spice or sharp flavor to them. Cooked well. Overall, I definitely recommend this place. However, I found the pizza and meatballs a bit highly priced. I look forward to trying more pizzas and dining in the restaurant once social distancing rules pull back. Also, I saw that they have decently priced wine in house (ex. 1 liter white wine for $18). I will order from here again if our distancing protocol remains for awhile. read more

I've struggled to start this review because to be honest this place is kinda blah... The interior is a fine display of you what one can achieve within a budget as tight as my jeans these days. But the the frugality that motivates their burrata is offensive. The amount of cheese on this appie is questionable at best. The same mentality percolated into the pizza. It's saving grace is the service from the bar tender. Service in a hoodie without pretence and wisely timed. Pair that with a perfect IPA selection from East Van brewing...I'll be back, but it won't be for the food. read more

this was an early bday and christmas dinner combined with my girls e, s and p. they brought their significant others and...i was alone but more on that later lol. e was the (early) bday girl - s and her were both there when p and i arrived. the restaurant is very hipster - industrial style setting with high ceilings and retro lights. the chairs were also the basics metal ones. the table setting was simple but...enough - there was no tablecloth for the wood table but you get your utensils and napkin and glasses for water and wine. the lighting is rather dim but i think that makes it more intimate. our server was very good with suggestions and he was busy thruout the night but whenever we needed him, he was there when we flagged him down. he was funny as well...which you will find out why later. to start off the night, the 5 of us that drank shared a bottle of Lupi Reali Montepulciano d'Abbruzo (yes i copied that from the site because come one who is going to rmb that name) based on the suggestion of our server - it def went well with everything we ordered so yay! for the 7 of us, we ordered 2 appies, 2 pizzas and 2 mains. then we had 2 desserts - one for the bday girl ofc! for appies, we had the roasted mussels and the antipasti. the mussels were very rich - they were plump and tasty. we had the antipasti at the end as sort of a munchie and basically picked the 2 meats and cheeses (each) that we didn't know what the names met. worth it lol and at that point i was slightly tipsy so i was not making the decisions - i merely agreed. i loved how the homemade pickles were a mixture of cauliflower, peppers and other veggies! we ordered the prosciutto&arugula and spicy meatballs pizza. the crust is on the soft side - you can eat with your hands but it can get messy what with the sauce and the toppings. the prosciutto pizza was very good - the arugula did make the whole sharing thing a little messy. i love the sauce that they used for the pizza. the spicy meatballs were....spicy meatballs lol. noms in every bite. for the mains, we had the roasted chicken and the mushroom lasagna. the roasted chicken - SO JUICY AND MOIST. very flavourful and the potatoes were crispy and delish. the mush room lasagna was rich and i srsly could have ate the whole thing myself. tbqh we were all stuffed by this point but ofc, being e's bday celebration - we had to get dessert. this is also the point where julia was forced to have 2nd drink so she ordered a spritz, which was great. e and s ordered tiramisu. e's came with a candle obvsly and we sang the bday song because we're old school like that. this is where the fun part happens - so our server comes by and asks how we're doing (we're like 2.5hrs in by this pt). h, e's husband, was like oh just the bills. then our server goes - by couples, singles or couples and the odd one out. clearly i'm the odd one out so i called it then my frd s is like that's just the alcohol talking and she obvsly needs another drink. server asks if i've had fernet before and RIGHT after i said no - he turns ard and pours him and i a shot. I WILL ALWAYS RMB FERNET NOW. it was a hoot and a great night - thank you to everyone at the restaurant and you will def see me again :) read more

Went here for Happy Hour on a random evening, and was surprised at how few people were here. A nice-looking restaurant in an up-and-coming place like Mount Pleasant? And it turns out the food is very nice too! I quite liked the meatballs - they were nicely seasoned, and came in a great tomato sauce. Maybe not the best I've had, but nice! The pizzas were the star, though. The two personal pizzas arrived on a little stacked tray, which was really cute. The mushroom pizza was by far my favourite - creamy and savoury and full of flavour! I also tried the "vegetarian" pizza (there were multiple vegetarian options, but this one was literally named that way), but I found it was a little bland, without much salt or seasoning. I do prefer a more solid crust, but the soft Neapolitan crust meant you can basically roll the slices up into a sort of pizza roll to eat them, which was fun. The staff were lovely, and the happy hour prices are quite good! Worth checking out if you're into the cuisine. It might not be my favourite place, but they have pork belly on the menu I didn't try, so I definitely want to go back and give that a shot. read more

I wanted to like this restaurant more than I did. Here's what I thought: Pros: -Interior - high ceilings, great colours, light fixtures, etc etc -Food is pretty good - we had mussels to start and shared a few different pizzas, all were decent Cons: -Service - a little slow and kind of unfriendly. While I was sitting at the table waiting for my friends to arrive the server came by to give me water but didn't say hello or ask if I wanted anything else. (I honestly didn't know he was our server - thought he was only doing waters!) -Beers - comically small! The pint is more of a small sleeve, and the half-glass (or whatever it was called on the menu) was I think less than a half-pint. So so small! The prices certainly did not match the size of the drinks. Although the food was good, I don't think I'd recommend this restaurant since the overall experience was a little lacking. Hopefully it was just an off night! read more

Ambiance: 5/5 Looks great. Big windows, nice lighting, cute decorations, high ceilings, classy-casual vibe. Big, bright space. Food: 3.5/5 Some dishes are definitely tastier than others. I got the roasted chicken and other members of my table ordered the mac and cheese, and a pork belly pizza. DO order the roasted chicken and pork belly pizza, DONT order the mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was bland. Macaroni was cooked well, but the cheese was lacking -- Not gooey or flavorful enough. The chicken was good... seasoned well... but the dish came with no greens. Just a chicken and a few potato wedges on the side... and I expect a bit more when paying $25. Even it's just some carrots or asparagus. I'd still recommend it because both the chicken and the potatoes wedges were tasty; they were seasoned with delicious herbs and the chicken was very juicy. As for the pizza... well, it's pizza. Hard to go wrong with pizza. This particular pizza was full of flavour and had some nice gooey cheese. Service: 3/5 Our server was nice but not attentive. Has his back to us for most of the night (granted, we were in the corner table at the back). The man at the table across from us actually got up and walked over to the server to get his attention. We promptly got our drinks served to us, but we waited at least 30 minutes before he came by to get our food order (we were seated at 7:20, our food didn't arrive until after 8:15). And I actually had to leave my bill with someone else because I had somewhere to be at 8:45. read more

The pizza here is pretty terrible and it makes me sad. I live in the apartment in the same building (The Duke), so I decided to try it out on a Saturday evening. Pizza was a bland, soggy mess with zero flavor and minimal toppings. For a pizzeria, the pizza is terrible. See photo attached. It was sad, guys, sorry. In a neighborhood with such amazing restaurants and artisan food spots, this place was pretty bad. We also had the wagyu beef. It was better than the pizza. The meat was tender, but it was really salty and swimming in liquid. There was so much gravy that it felt like I was eating a stew rather than a steak. The one highlight of the meal was the dessert. The tiramisu rocked balls. Tl:dr version is that this restaurant is beautiful (so take a look in the window when you walk by), but keep walking and take a hard pass on the food. read more
