    Corn beef hash

The service here is amazing! It is a little hole in the wall but it is decorated so nicely inside. The waitress - who I think might be the owner, brought us a free rice pudding since it was our first visit. It was delicious. I got the corn beef hash, it was okay. My boyfriend got the breakfast sandwich and it was DELICIOUS. I would definitely recommend this place.

This is a very cozy cafe with good food for an unbeatable price. My order: latte, French toast breakfast (home fries with choice of bacon, ham, or sausage- I chose bacon) The latte was one-of-a kind. It arrived and the layers of espresso and milk and foam looked like they were dancing. The French toast was good. Thin slices of what I'm assuming was baguette. I would have liked to see stronger seasoning in the batter or a thicker slice of bread - but no complaints here. The home fries were good, again, I would have liked to see maybe a crispier fry, with a little bit of a spicy kick. Bacon was very thin, but you got three pieces. There was also a nice small bonus of fresh fruit ( just a couple of pieces of cantaloupe, honey-dew melon, and a couple slices of a strawberry. A nice touch! All in all, with tax and tip, this was $15 per person, and you can't go wrong with this. The staff was also lovely, and there is plenty of free parking. I'd go here again!

Spot cafe is a small, family run diner with tea pots as the central theme of the cafe. The front is adorned with a teapot collection for sale. While it's very small, they still manage to be understaffed. We didn't get our order taken till at least 15 mins later. Home fries was a miss. Maybe it was just our batch but they were dull, dry, and flavorless. While dishes like their french toast may be instagram worthy, the overall flavors of everything we ordered didn't leave a lasting impression to come again.

Breakfast Omelet Sandwich. DOUBLE THE EGGS MEAT AND CHEESE! Taste great just a little too small.

I used to eat at the New Yorker Dinner when in Watertown visiting my uncle. I always enjoyed it as it was full of firemen and cops and had a boston feel. They've been closed due to the current state of affairs so I stumbled upon this place. Run by an Egyptian Family, the staff is amazingly friendly including the 7 year old helping out as a waiter. The omelet sandwich was the most appealing but my parents asked what the owners favorite item was. We were between breakfast and lunch so we decided to go each way. I got the omelet sandwich on a croissant and was very pleased. Tasted great but just wasn't quite big enough to fill me up for breakfast, my only knock. I assume it's a two egg omelet if I went back I'd ask them to double the eggs. I had half of my mother's chicken and rice dish and it had amazing flavor and the chicken was cooked perfectly. Now, if you were going for lunch, and knew the chicken was there GET THE CHICKEN AND RICE. If you're showing up for breakfast and in the mood the omelet sandwich is a good choice. Very friendly staff will be back.

I found my new brunch place! We arrived on a rainy Saturday morning, expecting the wait to be over an hour long (like other brunch places), but were pleasantly surprised when we were seated in just under 10 minutes. The cafe is small, with less than 12 seats in the entire area, but the restaurant exuded so much warmth and coziness. Service was so friendly. We especially loved the older lady at the counter, who was our main server. She was very sweet and attentive. My fiance and I ordered Erin's Waffle Breakfast and Two Eggs Your Style, while our friend ordered Luba's Omelet. We also got hot chocolate and a chai latte. The waffle was very delicious. I don't know what batter they used or how long they cooked it for, but the waffle was perfectly golden and crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Both the eggs and the omelet were also cooked well. The bacon was crispy, but small, and I especially enjoyed the home fries. This place is a little gem and I cannot wait to go back! There's even a small parking lot.

    Great breakfast! Omelette and parfait!

Stopped in for breakfast the weekend after Thanksgiving and found now wait which was a pleasant surprise. Had a fruit parfait with super fresh fruit, some granola, and yogurt and it came with a side of bread ( I up-charged for a baguette/but I should have went for the sourdough). My friend had an omelette with home fries and toast. We both had iced-teas which were very good. On the pricier side at $30 for two breakfasts and iced tea but worth it!

I got inspired by watching youtube to make a jambon buerre sandwich - supposedly a popular quick sandwich for Parisians. The sandwich is half a baguette with butter and French bistro ham. I tried searching all over for the French bistro ham with no luck. The only options were online sources with expensive shipping and/or expensive minimum order sizes. Somehow I stumbled upon MA-France nearby in Arlington and they sell jambon-buerre sandwiches. It's a small shop that sells sandwiches, pastries, and a small offering of French food products. Lots of pastries and baked goods like quiche, tarts, cookies, croissants, etc. The cheese offerings were very limited and basic. I can imagine that the cheeses that they sell are the same types and brands that they use for making sandwiches. For example, they sell President brand Brie - that you can also buy at Costco and market basket. Disappointing, but understandable because they can't afford to buy more variety and more expensive offerings without a big enough client base to buy those cheeses before they go bad. Getting back to the sandwich - it was half a baguette with some thick slices of butter and two pieces of French bistro ham. The bread was kind of dense and the crust was more chewy than crispy. I was disappointed that they didn't bother to spread the butter, but if they're not selling enough sandwiches then they're probably keeping the butter in the refrigerator - making it too difficult to spread. When I got home I fixed up the sandwich to my liking. Overall, the sandwich was okay, but not good enough to make me want to go back. At least I was able to solve my hunger for the jambon buerre sandwich.

Post-COVID, life looks a little different. I've changed jobs and moved to another town, so it's no longer the easy drop-in it once was. Still, I make a point to come back at least every few months. What hasn't changed is the consistency. This remains one of the most reliably excellent restaurants in the Boston area, and still one of my all-time top five--while others that once held that spot haven't quite held up. One thing has changed, though: the Ghost of Mary. Scotty, the former bar manager, created what's still my favorite cocktail of all time. When he left, the drink left with him (by mutual agreement), and while he generously shared the recipe with me, I've never quite managed to recreate it at home. It was clearly meant to be made by the expert. That said, Sycamore hasn't missed a beat. The space is still as comfortable and quirky as ever, the food remains consistently excellent, and the current bar program is in very capable hands. The cocktails are thoughtful and well-executed--just maybe don't remind me about the one I'm missing

Since we were not that hungry he ordered the Chorizo Croquettas and I had my favorite salad in the world (not kidding) their Kale Salad. Let me just tell you 1. if you don't like kale, you will love this salad. Just the way they make it and the flavors/crunch will make your mouth water 2. you will eat the whole thing. 3. trust me. If there is one app that you need to order its the chorizo croquettas, OMG. They are like little small drops of heaven and there are only 3 so if you plan to share I would recommend ordering more than just one. For dessert, we ordered an Espresso Martini. The only thing that was missing is the coffee beans but still good. Thanks Sycamore for another fabulous dinner and evening. Thanks Kale Salad for being the best ever. I know I will be back for another one sometime soon. Cheers~

The sharing-sized plates at neighboring tables looked very generous so we created our own two-plate "collection" instead of a standard three-plate collection on the menu: Seared Duck Breast with applejack demi-glace; grilled Johnnycake; brussels sprouts. Ribeye Steak with herb butter; garlic mashed potatoes; grilled asparagus. These dishes were outstanding and absolutely delicious !!! The steak tips was just okay in my opinion. It wasn't that memorable. For the last course, i had the mango & coconut creme brulee. It had a nice smokey sweetness from the burnt sugar. We ordered drinks--including a pear mocktail--but were brought the wrong ones, and then they attempted to charge us for those incorrect drinks. In hindsight, the cocktail mix-up should have been a warning of what was to come. The pear mocktail itself was also quite bad. The service felt chaotic throughout the night. We asked multiple times for additional servings of steak and fries, but were largely ignored. Meanwhile, nearby large tables were repeatedly served, cleared out entire trays, and still received more attention from staff. For an all-you-can-eat steak frites offering, we each received only one serving despite several requests. As for the food itself, it did not make up for the service. The steak was just okay--some pieces were chewy and overly fatty, though acceptable if refills had actually been provided. The fries, however, were terrible. Our first serving was so hard it was nearly inedible, and the only refill we received was just as bad. I also ordered the spinach risotto, which was slightly better than the steak, but it was so salty I couldn't finish it. Overall, this was a frustrating and disappointing experience.
