My family of six has been coming to the shop for three years now. Everyone here is active and completely knowledgeable about what they're selling. They have great recommendations because they use what they sell. They are so friendly and I would consider the staff that I interact with the most to be friends. I have two main things to tell you. First, if you are looking for a new pair of ski boots you simply must come here. Matt King is a boot wizard. He listened to how I ski and took everything into consideration and had me try on one boot that he then custom fit to my foot with heat and the right insert. I have arthritis and he made the boots perfect for me. These boots are cream of the crop and I absolutely love them. Second, I bought Look bindings with Matt's help as well. This weekend I was in a crash involving my knee and the back binding was twisted out about 2 to 3 inches. So much so that my husband thought they were broken but that is exactly what they are designed to do, give you some room in a crash so you don't seriously injure yourself. I am convinced that if my ankle hadn't been allowed to twist those inches I would have torn something instead of just having a bad sprain. I will never not ski with them. The Alpine Haus is the real deal and chances are very good that you will have a better experience with your equipment and the right clothing for YOU specifically rather than gambling with online ordering. Ashley is so knowledgeable and will suit you up with exactly what YOU need. Plus she has an eye for style. Josh is a boarder and back country guy. He is a wealth of info for local trails. Drew and Rachel are the owners and have built something great here. You can tell they actually CARE that you get set up with the right stuff. FRED! Fred can handle ANYTHING when it comes to ski tuning. My husband had a deep gouge in his skis from a rock and Fred fixed it like a boss. These guys are a community gem and I hope they're around forever! read more

I'm a new skier and was in the need of some new boots. However, as I was getting my fit, the owner Ian was very pushy and abrasive on what model and size I should purchase. The retail side and convenience of Alpine Haus is fine. This review is regarding ski repair. I had been told by several friends that the technicians did poor quality work. This is true. I have still a nasty gouge in the base of my ski. I took it to the store and even explained that I would like an appropriate patch epoxied in after the area was prepped. What I received back was the gouge left in its ragged state with epoxy poured into place with Ptex dripped over top. I did complain and the tech came up and defended the terrible work, even while another shop tech described the proper way to complete the repair. I would only pay 1/2 the cost and feel ripped off for that. Sure buy socks from them but do not trust the shop otherwise. All the technical staff have left for other places. If I can add photos to this review you will see the terrible work. read more

Alpine Haus sold me a set of skis and boots that are totally mismatched. And the boots NEVER fit well. I purchased a pair of Volkl RaceTigers from Alpine Haus, and at the recommendation of the sales clerk, purchased a pair of Salomon X-Wave 8.0 Ski Boots. The sales clerk said I need a soft pair of boots because otherwise I would "overpower" the skis. Well it turns out the of Salomon X-Wave 8.0 Ski Boots are an INTERMEDIATE level ski boot, not at all matched to a race ski, the Salomon X-Wave 8.0 Ski Boots have a soft flex, much softer than most adult men's boots. And the boot does not fit a wide foot. I went in to their shop about 4 times to get the width stretched out to fit, and in at least the two last stretchings, there was no difference, which I pointed out to the tech, and he said he was "afraid to break the boot". So I have been skiing with these boots for a number of years, that are a really awful situation. Could it get any worse? I don't know, possibly. They could have sold me a woman's beginner boot for my racing skis ! I can't believe that I trusted these guys. I just didn't have the time, and I didn't think I needed the time, to verify what they told me. Why bother with this ski shop, when better information is on the Internet, and probably better prices too. read more

I met Klaus upon entry. Very approachable and technically knowledgeable. I was just looking for bindings and I had an idea about my choices. Klaus did an excellent comparison of the bindings and completely helped me narrow them down. I brought my skis in the next day, and they were able to mount them in forty-five minutes. With some feedback from Fred, I left there with a much improved knowledge base of my skiing, the bindings, and technique. Great experience! read more

Honestly the worst ski shop in spokane. My family and I had only great experiences here for years, heck Fred even taught my dad how to tech skis and mount his own telemark bindings, since he was one of the only techs in town that could do it. Everything went downhill when Racheal and Drew bought the place. Fred left a couple years into their ownership and moved to a new ski shop and it shows. The new techs have no idea what they're doing, they mounted my bindings incorrectly so they can't be adjusted to accommodate different boot sizes at all, the screws were completely stripped and the wax job was horrible. I got the bindings remounted on new skis at Sports Creel (10/10 recommend) and they found broken off pieces of drill bits in the screws and were barely able to get the screws out because of how stripped they were. Rachael is rude and doesn't seem to know what she's talking about. She measured my foot wrong when I went in to get boots and even though I insisted it was the wrong size she kept bringing out boots in the wrong size and didn't even bring out the boots I had requested to try on, I had to reiterate the exact size and boot I wanted over and over again before she brought them out. On top of it she kept asking if I was a beginner skier and saying that I was even after I said that I wasn't, I've been skiing for 20 years and I know my gear preferences and she ignored all of that. My dad had a similar experience within the last few months and she has literally known him for years (not friends, just from the local ski scene) at this point. Also, bonus points for them deleting google reviews, I left almost this exact review on google a couple months ago and it has since been deleted. read more

Don't know where to start. So disappointed in this store. I took an older board in to buy new bindings, mind you, I had the board with me! And they sold me K2 bindings that they PUT on the board. But when I took it back to have them adjust the stance because the screws were stripped out they told me those bindings are not compatible with that board. The bindings they sold me and already mounted!!! Luckily I got a new board for Christmas so I took it in and ask them to put those new bindings on the new board. I picked that board up today, with more confusion, I was finally given my board while the guy was talking on the phone. I should have looked at screws before I left but I didn't because I was frustrated they didn't have it done and I had to wait after dropping the board off two days prior. So now I want to adjust the stance on the new board and new bindings, that come with new hardware, except FOUR of the screws are stripped out!!! So now I will be going back again, for the fifth time, just to get my hardware taken out! I drove out of my way to go to this speciality store, passing two other stores that could have sold me the same thing. I get people make mistakes and I was understanding and patient til today. You put compromised hardware on my brand new board with brand new bindings. read more

Got some weird vibes, not a friendly place. We need a place on the South Hill that promotes and pushes all of us, young and old. Yes this is in a convenient location for me but after buying two pairs of boots and skis, this place still acts like they've never meet me before, don't like leaving a bad review but after the last uncomfortable moment I felt I had too. I've had a great experience every time I've been in. The whole staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. They were able to help with both ski and snowboard questions and offered a lot of good advice. Worst customer service I've experience in a while. The most jaw dropping rude blonde sales lady treated my daughter like a second class human. I rushed to meet her there after work as she wanted to buy ski stickers and she thought they would have some. Neither sales person even acknowledge us and when my 17 year old daughter reached out to the sales lady, she rudely loudly snapped that she didn't have time to help her and there were no free stickers. Excuse me?! I don't believe she ever said she was looking for handouts. Her tone only slightly changed when I walked up and told her she wanted to PURCHASE. All of a sudden she started changing her story saying there were no stickers for sale, only ski resort stickers for free. Ok whatever. You would have thought we were vagrants and it was past closing time because that is how welcome we were made to feel there. Instead of politely saying one minute please so she could finish or find someone else to help. Shocked and bewildered they would employ such a rude person. Holy cow. read more

This is a nice store, but for rentals they were very disorganized. It was my first time renting from here, and I arrived at 2:30 to rent for the next day, and they told me to come back between 4-7 so I wouldn't be charged an extra day. (It would have been helpful to try on the equipment and put it on hold for 4pm pick up. When I arrived at 4, I waited about 30 minutes upstairs to be called downstairs for fitting. When I went down there, they said they were out of my size. They called me 30 minutes later and said they had some larger ones I could use that were just returned. I'm not a bit skier and am not familiar with the sizing, so I grabbed the larger size (which I later found out were about 10cm larger than my skiing ability). When I got to the mountain I couldn't turn on the skis and felt very out of control and needed to rent smaller skis from Schweitzer. When I went to return my skis to alpine haus the next day, they said sorry but that was it and took the skis. Not a good policy in place to keep customers coming back. read more
