Street Cart fries, gyro sandwich
Kimberly C.

The gyro and fries are just as good as before. Turns out there was a special during this visit. Mediterranean Monday- $1 off gyros. There were many sauces listed on the back of the menu and I decided to try the Zhoug. It was absolutely delicious and if I could buy a pint, I would! A bit of spiciness, hint of lime, and a blend of herbs. It was good on both the fries and gyro. I also got the iced tea, which wasn't at all sweetened, but still good (as is). Anyway, pretty busy for a Monday, but luckily I was able to find a parking spot in the back. I'll for sure return.

I stroll into Spitz in Minneapolis expecting hummus, wraps, maybe a few olives tossed around for flair -- and instead I walk into a full-blown rock-and-roll dream. We're talking an eclectic vibe, a whole Prince tribute mural staring you down, and a bar stacked more mocktails and beers. Not your grandma's shawarma shop, that's for sure. Now, the food? Solid. The fries -- ridiculously good. The kind that make you pause mid-chew and reconsider every fry you've ever had. The döner wrap was fine, but let's be honest, it could have used a little more. The garlic aioli is there, whispering... when it should be shouting. Give me some boldness, some bite, something to remind me it belongs on the same menu as that mural. But the real star of the show? The mocktails. You can tell this place put real intention behind them. Bright, punchy, refreshing -- the kind of drinks that make you forget you're not even touching alcohol. Honestly, if you come here and skip a mocktail, you're doing it wrong. Spitz isn't your typical Mediterranean joint -- it's louder, quirkier, and way more fun than I expected. A vibe-first spot with fry-game dominance and mocktail magic. I'd go back, but next time? I'm asking that aioli to step it up.

I love Spitz! Service is always fast and friendly with good recommendations. The place itself has a very unique look inside that I quite enjoy. I regularly get the 1/2 wings 1/2 fries here because I just can't get enough of the garlic aioli and buffalo berlin sauces + seasoned fry and wing combo! Tzatziki ranch is also included, but a miss for me. If you're looking for a quick bite with light but flavorful mediterranean food, this is the place!

This place has the coolest street art on the walls, especially the Prince mural. You grab a menu and order at the bar, so the service is more self-service. We enjoyed the French fries. They are amazing. I tried the Spitz gyro which had an amazing spicy sauce (The Berliner?) and my husband tried the Mediterranean wrap which he enjoyed also. It was big so he brought half home.

Fantastic experience at Spitz! You order and pay at the counter then seat yourself. Parking can be a little tricky but there is some street parking nearby. I was really impressed by the service. I was debating between two beers and the person at the counter offered samples of both beers for me to try before ordering, which was so kind and much appreciated! I also enjoyed the autumn cocktail -- I think it was the Autumn Spritz. It was really light, refreshing, and full of fall spices! I had the Street Cart Doner with all three meats and it was incredible! It was so simple but so good. The freshness of the ingredients really shined and the tzatziki was delicious. I also liked the lavish bread it was wrapped in -- it was like a thin pita and tortilla hybrid. The meat was flavorful and the variety of textures from the crunch of the cucumbers to the juicy meat was great! The thin cut fries with the garlic aioli were flawless. Perfectly crispy and seasoned, and the garlic aioli was chuggable. My only regret was not trying Spitz sooner!

From the moment I walked in I noticed all of the bartenders and servers were matched on theme in Wild West Halloween attire (visited day after Halloween). Immediately this set a fun expectation and I was thrilled to find that the service matched and met my expectations. From here I went onto order a drink; the autumn themed cocktail was properly fall tasting, fragrant, light and easy to enjoy! To eat I ordered the Berliner Kebab Wrap and fries. The fries were the double battered style which if you ask me is the greatest method of doing French fries. I was also very pleased to find a delicious seasoning and dipping sauce for the fries. These alone deserve a 10/10! Next I had the Berliner kebab wrap with all 3 meat options. It was exceptional to say the least! Savory flavored and veggie and meat filled to the brim. A wrap was just the perfect amount of food for me, although I'm a pretty big eater so take that with a grain of salt. Loved my experience at Spitz overall. I have had it delivered before but this was my first time dining in. I would absolutely recommend this spot to anyone looking for delicious Mediterranean food!

Overall, Spitz was a pleasant surprise for me! The space is much bigger than it looks from the outside, but you can't move tables together (they're bolted to the floor), so our group of six couldn't all sit together. Still, the atmosphere was upbeat and fun. Ordering at the counter was quick and straightforward. The menu is large with a ton of variety, so it's easy to find something for almost any craving. One great menu option is their date night deal. You get a bottle of wine, two entrees, and a side. I thought this was a great value and a fun way to try a few different things. I ended up getting the zesty feta wrap with mixed protein and it was fantastic. It had just the right amount of flavor and the light toasting gave it a great texture. For the side we got the quinoa salad and I was seriously impressed. It was super fresh and really tasty. Spitz provides a really solid experience with great food and a fun concept. Just wish they had a little more flexibility with seating.

When I crave for something light but also flavorful that's going to fill me up, I think of mediterranean food. And when I think of mediterranean food, I think about Spitz! They serve up some fresh, delicious and healthy food options you can choose from doner, wraps, and bowls. The atmosphere is welcoming with 80/90s retro music, cool decors, and table games for you to play while you wait for your food. Although service can be slow at times, they are super cool and friendly. It's definitely a place to visit and keep visiting when you're craving good mediterranean food!

This wasn't my first time at Spitz and it won't be my last! They have a quirky yet casual atmosphere. You order at the counter and they bring it to your table. I had the street car wrap with fries. The fries were some of the best I've had. The wrap was also very satisfying. They put a couple of sauces on the wrap but I chose to have the garlic aioli on the side. With or without the aioli the wrap was still very tasty. I'll go back again!

I really really wish I lived closer to Spitz!! We visited this NE Minneapolis Mediterranean after a few close friends recommendation and my only regret was not knowing about it sooner. This is a order at the counter spot, but feels like a full service restaurant. The space is a spot to spend time and even has a game shelf you can borrow games from. The staff was extremely inviting and even offered food/drinks suggestions! We got our food quickly and dug in immediately! Each bite was juicy and bursting with flavor. The fries were hot and crispy. I am excited to come back soon!

My first Spitz experience was over four years ago and why it has taken this long to return is one of my silliest mistakes to date. On a recent rendezvous with my brother, I was quickly reminded of how fantastic this Mediterranean establishment is. Speedy, delicious, and cheap are keys to my heart in the restaurant biz - Spitz hit them all out of the park. Though I debated my food options for quite some time (sorry Isaac), I opted for a good ol gyro which was inhaled in a matter of minutes. It took everything in me to not steal my brother's extra fries (you're welcome Isaac). Taking any an all inquiries for a Spitz sponsored Boom Island picnic soon Food: two gyros with side salad Drink: beer and beer PS: on wednesdays, they have a "date night" special where you get two entrees, a large side, and a bottle of wine for $45

Darren L.

Great food at a great price! Street car doner with quinoa salad. We actually got the date night deal (two entrees, a large side, and a bottle of wine) and thought that the price was good for what you got! Otherwise nice casual dining experience. Pretty quick food delivery to your table but otherwise you serve yourself (water station, silverware, etc).

Seriously such a great spot for Mediterranean food! I recommend spitz to anyone who likes Mediterranean food. Such great sauces and flavors, definitely lots of variety on the menu, and their sides are great! They have sweet potato waffle fries which are great and their regular fries are so good as well! You order at the counter and they bring it to you, service is fast and people were helpful! Little hard to get to with construction right now but one of my new favorite spots!

Quinoa salad ($5.50). Dill-tahini quinoa, tomato, cucumber, feta, roasted corn, marinated garbanzos, and tahini.

Does Spitz take reservations? Is it tight quarters for groups of 6 or more?

No reservations. Not really big inside but if its not busy, you could fit six. It was fairly full when we were there on a Sunday evening.

The dining space was pretty dark, they could use a little more lighting, but not a deal breaker. Service was sufficient. I ordered the chicken pub pie, and it was delish! The gravy mix with veggie and chicken pieces was so satisfying, and the puff pastry on top was thick and fluffy with a buttery flavor I enjoyed. Also learned what a walleye is, since my coworker got the fish n chips with walleye instead of cod. This plate got a thumbs up too. Overall, we had a positive experience.

The interior has that classic vintage pub feel with lots of character and natural light. There are tons of booths and different seating areas that could accommodate parties of all sizes. I especially liked the glass dividers between some of the booths, which give you a little extra privacy without making the space feel closed off. My booth also had coat hooks and easy access to outlets, which I appreciated. I could definitely see myself coming here for a working lunch. My server was incredibly friendly and helpful, especially as I was trying to figure out how to use a couple of rewards I had on my account. I specifically came in wanting to try the fish and chips. Their lunch menu offers smaller portions of several dishes from the dinner menu, including a fish and chips option for around $15. I really wanted to try the walleye, though, so I ended up ordering the full dinner portion for around $28. The fish was absolutely the star of the plate. The breading was fantastic--crunchy around the edges while still light and fluffy--and the fish inside practically melted in my mouth. The tartar sauce was also really good and paired perfectly with it. The sides, unfortunately, didn't impress me nearly as much. There were plenty of fries, but they were pretty average, and the coleslaw was mostly cabbage with a light dressing. It felt like it was missing some acidity or lime to give it a little more personality. For almost $30, I also expected the meal to be a bit more substantial. I left satisfied, but found myself hungry again a couple of hours later, so I'm not sure the dinner portion felt worth the price for me. If you're mainly curious about their fish and chips, I'd probably recommend trying the smaller lunch portion first rather than committing to the more expensive dinner version. Would I come back? Absolutely--the atmosphere, service, and location alone make The Local worth another visit, and I noticed several other dishes on the menu I'd be interested in trying. I just don't know that I'd order this particular meal again. The fish itself was excellent, but for me, the sides and overall value didn't quite match it.

Wow, this place was cool!…read more The entry is pretty hidden and parking requires a bit of work unless you do valet. We went on a Saturday night, so we had to wait a bit in order to be seated. Fortunately, I arrived at 5:30 PM on a Saturday, which was early enough to avoid a line and a velvet rope. I don't wait in line for anything unless I'm at a pharmacy, bakery, post office, or airport. Lines at restaurants and bars strike me as pretentious or bad management, and I don't tolerate either. However, I'm old, and at my age, nothing is worth waiting for unless it's a necessity. I found a seat at the beautiful and expansive bar and looked around at the Del Prado design. The colors might be different, but Flora was reminiscent of Minari and Noma. All three add to the Twin Cities' cachet. However, I was taken aback by the attire I saw around me. People were dressed in shorts, T-shirts, and sneakers. It's friggen Saturday night Minneapolis. Have some class! Flora Room was a lovely cocktail lounge, perfect for wooing, but don't expect to strike up a conversation with any of the bartenders. At these Del Prado joints, the staff must be trained not to engage. I'm out alone and enjoy talking. Bartenders used to be part of a lounge's attraction when I grew up in NYC. They learned your name, knew what you did, and gave you a hearty welcome. That, I guess, is not part of the culture in Minneapolis. Well, at least not at the Del Prado restaurants and bars. Chef Del Prado is from Argentina, and certainly, Argentina is one of the warmest and friendliest countries in the world, so I don't get it. I now live up the block from the Flora Room. I'm a neighbor and would like to be treated like one. Neighborly and the Flora Room are distant concepts.

My only critique is that the space is quite dated, but not in a cool way. It could really use an update to the paint and interior to maintain itself as a "destination" versus just another hotel bar with a view. They went above and beyond to make the event feel special and deserve recognition for how much effort they put into accommodating such a large group. They had a custom flag made, created special menus for the event, and allowed our group to take over much of the second and third floors. The large, open layout worked perfectly, and the staff were great sports about the entire experience. The bartenders were fantastic, the food and drink selection was strong, and the staff handled the crowd impressively well. There really was not much more we could have asked from them. After the game, many of us returned for more fun. There was a short line to get back inside, but it moved quickly. At night, the different floors had different types of music playing, which gave the place a lively and varied atmosphere. Overall, Cowboy Jack's did an excellent job hosting the Ryan Meetup.
