Prince!

This place has the coolest street art on the walls, especially the Prince mural. You grab a menu and order at the bar, so the service is more self-service. We enjoyed the French fries. They are amazing. I tried the Spitz gyro which had an amazing spicy sauce (The Berliner?) and my husband tried the Mediterranean wrap which he enjoyed also. It was big so he brought half home.

I stroll into Spitz in Minneapolis expecting hummus, wraps, maybe a few olives tossed around for flair -- and instead I walk into a full-blown rock-and-roll dream. We're talking an eclectic vibe, a whole Prince tribute mural staring you down, and a bar stacked more mocktails and beers. Not your grandma's shawarma shop, that's for sure. Now, the food? Solid. The fries -- ridiculously good. The kind that make you pause mid-chew and reconsider every fry you've ever had. The döner wrap was fine, but let's be honest, it could have used a little more. The garlic aioli is there, whispering... when it should be shouting. Give me some boldness, some bite, something to remind me it belongs on the same menu as that mural. But the real star of the show? The mocktails. You can tell this place put real intention behind them. Bright, punchy, refreshing -- the kind of drinks that make you forget you're not even touching alcohol. Honestly, if you come here and skip a mocktail, you're doing it wrong. Spitz isn't your typical Mediterranean joint -- it's louder, quirkier, and way more fun than I expected. A vibe-first spot with fry-game dominance and mocktail magic. I'd go back, but next time? I'm asking that aioli to step it up.

Fantastic experience at Spitz! You order and pay at the counter then seat yourself. Parking can be a little tricky but there is some street parking nearby. I was really impressed by the service. I was debating between two beers and the person at the counter offered samples of both beers for me to try before ordering, which was so kind and much appreciated! I also enjoyed the autumn cocktail -- I think it was the Autumn Spritz. It was really light, refreshing, and full of fall spices! I had the Street Cart Doner with all three meats and it was incredible! It was so simple but so good. The freshness of the ingredients really shined and the tzatziki was delicious. I also liked the lavish bread it was wrapped in -- it was like a thin pita and tortilla hybrid. The meat was flavorful and the variety of textures from the crunch of the cucumbers to the juicy meat was great! The thin cut fries with the garlic aioli were flawless. Perfectly crispy and seasoned, and the garlic aioli was chuggable. My only regret was not trying Spitz sooner!

From the moment I walked in I noticed all of the bartenders and servers were matched on theme in Wild West Halloween attire (visited day after Halloween). Immediately this set a fun expectation and I was thrilled to find that the service matched and met my expectations. From here I went onto order a drink; the autumn themed cocktail was properly fall tasting, fragrant, light and easy to enjoy! To eat I ordered the Berliner Kebab Wrap and fries. The fries were the double battered style which if you ask me is the greatest method of doing French fries. I was also very pleased to find a delicious seasoning and dipping sauce for the fries. These alone deserve a 10/10! Next I had the Berliner kebab wrap with all 3 meat options. It was exceptional to say the least! Savory flavored and veggie and meat filled to the brim. A wrap was just the perfect amount of food for me, although I'm a pretty big eater so take that with a grain of salt. Loved my experience at Spitz overall. I have had it delivered before but this was my first time dining in. I would absolutely recommend this spot to anyone looking for delicious Mediterranean food!

Overall, Spitz was a pleasant surprise for me! The space is much bigger than it looks from the outside, but you can't move tables together (they're bolted to the floor), so our group of six couldn't all sit together. Still, the atmosphere was upbeat and fun. Ordering at the counter was quick and straightforward. The menu is large with a ton of variety, so it's easy to find something for almost any craving. One great menu option is their date night deal. You get a bottle of wine, two entrees, and a side. I thought this was a great value and a fun way to try a few different things. I ended up getting the zesty feta wrap with mixed protein and it was fantastic. It had just the right amount of flavor and the light toasting gave it a great texture. For the side we got the quinoa salad and I was seriously impressed. It was super fresh and really tasty. Spitz provides a really solid experience with great food and a fun concept. Just wish they had a little more flexibility with seating.

When I crave for something light but also flavorful that's going to fill me up, I think of mediterranean food. And when I think of mediterranean food, I think about Spitz! They serve up some fresh, delicious and healthy food options you can choose from doner, wraps, and bowls. The atmosphere is welcoming with 80/90s retro music, cool decors, and table games for you to play while you wait for your food. Although service can be slow at times, they are super cool and friendly. It's definitely a place to visit and keep visiting when you're craving good mediterranean food!

This wasn't my first time at Spitz and it won't be my last! They have a quirky yet casual atmosphere. You order at the counter and they bring it to your table. I had the street car wrap with fries. The fries were some of the best I've had. The wrap was also very satisfying. They put a couple of sauces on the wrap but I chose to have the garlic aioli on the side. With or without the aioli the wrap was still very tasty. I'll go back again!

I really really wish I lived closer to Spitz!! We visited this NE Minneapolis Mediterranean after a few close friends recommendation and my only regret was not knowing about it sooner. This is a order at the counter spot, but feels like a full service restaurant. The space is a spot to spend time and even has a game shelf you can borrow games from. The staff was extremely inviting and even offered food/drinks suggestions! We got our food quickly and dug in immediately! Each bite was juicy and bursting with flavor. The fries were hot and crispy. I am excited to come back soon!

My first Spitz experience was over four years ago and why it has taken this long to return is one of my silliest mistakes to date. On a recent rendezvous with my brother, I was quickly reminded of how fantastic this Mediterranean establishment is. Speedy, delicious, and cheap are keys to my heart in the restaurant biz - Spitz hit them all out of the park. Though I debated my food options for quite some time (sorry Isaac), I opted for a good ol gyro which was inhaled in a matter of minutes. It took everything in me to not steal my brother's extra fries (you're welcome Isaac). Taking any an all inquiries for a Spitz sponsored Boom Island picnic soon Food: two gyros with side salad Drink: beer and beer PS: on wednesdays, they have a "date night" special where you get two entrees, a large side, and a bottle of wine for $45

Great food at a great price! Street car doner with quinoa salad. We actually got the date night deal (two entrees, a large side, and a bottle of wine) and thought that the price was good for what you got! Otherwise nice casual dining experience. Pretty quick food delivery to your table but otherwise you serve yourself (water station, silverware, etc).

Quinoa salad ($5.50). Dill-tahini quinoa, tomato, cucumber, feta, roasted corn, marinated garbanzos, and tahini.

Pretty solid Mediterranean food! I think I usually prefer something more traditional and simple, but all of our food was fresh and flavorful. Very laid-back vibe--counter ordering (including walking back up to the bar if you need a soda refill), and plenty of board games available to play. The fries here were maybe the crispiest fries I've ever had in my life. Even doused in sauces and topping, the fries maintained their structural integrity through our whole meal. The menu was pretty overwhelming, so I got the street cart wrap ($13.95) at the recommendation of the cashier/bartender, and it was delicious and pretty sizable! They also have some events like game nights and such that seem like they'd be fun to come to, so I'll likely be back to check those out and try out the rest of the menu.

Overall, this hit the spot! I love kebabs and wraps of all kinds so the variety of the menu is great. The food is very tasty and the atmosphere is inviting. Service was friendly and incredibly efficient. I would definitely come back and try some other menu items.

Seriously such a great spot for Mediterranean food! I recommend spitz to anyone who likes Mediterranean food. Such great sauces and flavors, definitely lots of variety on the menu, and their sides are great! They have sweet potato waffle fries which are great and their regular fries are so good as well! You order at the counter and they bring it to you, service is fast and people were helpful! Little hard to get to with construction right now but one of my new favorite spots!

Does Spitz take reservations? Is it tight quarters for groups of 6 or more?

No reservations. Not really big inside but if its not busy, you could fit six. It was fairly full when we were there on a Sunday evening.

Located inside the Foshay Tower, there's street and valet parking available! We entered through the W hotel lobby and took the elevator up to the 27th floor! We were met by a fun, retro-inspired lounge with many couches and tables available in a 360-degree set up. It has Prohibition-themed decor, but I wouldn't quite call it a speakeasy, as there wasn't any guise to entering or accessing the space. My only critique is that the space is quite dated, but not in a cool way. It could really use an update to the paint and interior to maintain itself as a "destination" versus just another hotel bar with a view. The bartenders were quite friendly and helpful during our visit. We had an Old Fashioned and a Paper Plane during our visit! Both cocktails were absolutely delicious and perfectly made. Now, at around $26 each, I would expect that level. Overall, a cool, historical spot to grab a drink!

I come to MSP often for work, and it's always a challenge to find a decent, healthy meal late in…read morethe evening downtown. Fortunately, the Earth Bowl at Star fits the bill and will probably be a go-to on future trips. It's a nicely seasoned, balanced, and clean-tasting assortment of greens, other vegetables, grains, and optional protein (shrimp was a good choice). And the generous pour of cab sauv complemented it well. Food aside, the space is very inviting and calming (and geometrically interesting, being circular in design), perfect for catching up on some reading during my meal. Service was also pleasant. The only thing is that there wasn't much else on the menu that appealed to me personally, so I'm hoping the bowl isn't something temporary or seasonal. In any case, I look forward to my next visit.

Lots of accoutrements, super tasty. The sidecar was great and so was the Benedictine Manhattan cocktail. Strong but well balanced. We were greeted with a warm and thoughtful welcome, esp considering what's happening in our city rn. Staff were friendly and service was prompt. Nice, upscale ambiance and decor. It makes for a great after work happy hour downtown or a great spot for a more formal date night. Located inside the Indigo hotel. Plenty of on street metered parking on surrounding blocks. Will be back.

There were a bunch of different rooms, which all had different music playing. Didn't explore that much. Mostly just out on the patio and on the dance floor, but I saw pool and other bar games. There was also a photo booth, which we used. Overpriced, but I guess you have to expect that from photo booths. Drinks were so cheap ($4)! And good dance music from the DJ. Biggest complaint is that there is only one stall in the bathroom (the rest are urinals). So it was always busy because obviously there are a lot of people who are trying to use the stall. Had to plan your pees.

Had my first experience at The Saloon for Twin Cities Leather Weekend early November!…read more The thing that struck me most is the impressive square footage of the place. It essentially has four-ish connected but separate "chambers." You come in on the corner into the first one which has a typical bar set-up with lots of bar stools to sit at. Further back there's more table-and-chair style seating because it's nearby their kitchen where they serve hot food; there's also a pool table and darts throwing in this section. Deeper in there's a couple more bars in smaller segmented dual rooms, which is nearby the main restroom (there are several, at least three restroom locations inside). Quite a lot of urinals in this establishment, but a lack of stalls to sit and do your business, which was a little frustrating for someone like me whose equipment requires sitting to pee. No gender segregation though, which I'd expect in this day and age of a queer bar, but still nice to see. The final room is by far the largest, as it has a bar but also a large open area like a dance hall and stage. For this particular weekend it was utilized for hosting the contest, but also a puppy mosh (iykyk). Even as big as it was, it was PACKED during the contest portion of the weekend, making it difficult to see or hear the contest. (I think they could use a more up to date sound system.) We got food while we were there, and it was great. I got a BLT for just $9 and it was piled high with bacon- they did not skimp. Eating it all was a challenge for li'l ol' me. Meals come with ruffled chips that are very salty, but you can upgrade to other side options like french fries, onion rings (which my husband did), etc. for $2. The food was honestly affordable, especially for the amount they give you; I think they do this to discourage you from leaving the bar to go somewhere else for food, which is a solid strategy, haha. Parking around here is... tough, as you might expect in downtown. There is a nearby garage though just across the street behind the bar that I think is just $5 for evenings? I'm sure I'll be back for future events. I myself am not a casual bar-goer, so I don't really go out to these types of establishments unless they're hosting something fun. Always nice when a place is a community gathering space in addition to their regular business. I appreciate this place exists and serves the queer/kink community in that way.
