Beautiful space. I just had a salad with chicken breast... but even that tasted elevated. There was some weird restriction on charging my meal and tip which required putting some portion of it on a second card. Other than that, no issues. It's nice, spacious and has great outdoor seating as well.

    Chicken Kebab Lunch Special

My friend and I stopped by on a late Thursday afternoon. When we walked in the restaurant was pretty empty, there were only two other tables filled at the time. We were seated right away and even got to choose where we wanted to sit. Service was good throughout and after the meal. I ate: -STUFFED GRAPE LEAVES: Flavor was good and a nice appetizer. -CHICKEN KEBAB LUNCH SPECIAL: The chicken was well cooked/juicy and the sauce it came with was tasty, there was also a lot of pickled cabbage on the side which was a great compliment. The bread on the bottom (tasted like a cross between a pita and tortilla) though was just ok as it was just very soggy. All in all, a nice restaurant option in the area.

I enjoyed Lumi for a yummy lunch with a friend during a conference in June 2025. The interior is lovely and feels open. If you prefer outdoor dining, several tables have been created outside on Nicollet Mall. Lots of pluses at this place. First, it's not crowded if you arrive near the 11am opening for lunch. Second, the mezze plate ($24 appetizer) is amazing and ideal to share with 2 people. It includes fluffy bread, fresh hummus, and baba ghanoush. Third, I would recommend a lighter entree (do not get the full Turkish chicken kebab unless you want leftovers to bring home). My friend ordered the eggplant pizza which was delicious and I had the grilled chicken salad which was very good.

    Beef guvec. Very greasy

Very nice space with friendly staff. Unfortunately, though, this was the most disappointing meal I'd had in Minneapolis in a long time. I ordered the beef guvec, a dish I've had in other places, and this version was barely edible. It was excessively greasy (note the photo), the meat quality seemed poor (the menu claims tenderloin is used, but I would dispute that), and there were hardly any vegetables in it (guvec is typically a veg-forward stew, but certainly not here). Additionally, I feel this dish should have been served with a starch, such as bread or a bowl of rice. Without it, the meal felt incomplete. My group also sampled a few appetizers and desserts, and they were all just so-so. While the setting and service were great, I wouldn't return based on the food quality. Hopefully, Lumi can refine its recipes and improve the balance of its dishes in the future.

Closer to a 4.5 in terms of food quality, and it's only because of a few dishes that were mediocre that made me feel like giving it a 5 would be misleading. However, please allow me to say that having this establishment in Minneapolis is much needed because one can get food from various types of cuisines here and that itself honestly makes this place very valuable. Among all the dishes I have ordered over two times visiting here, my favorite was the kofte, which I know is a form of traditional Turkish dish, and what I loved about it was the ample amount of seasoning that defined the flavor of the ground beef & lamb and the sauce that would alter the flavor profile in a positive manner if needed. The pickled onion and rice offered extra means to enjoy the dish, so I utilized them to the maximum. The adana kebab was a kebab version of the kofte except for the meat wasn't as seasoned. My friend had that dish and it was still good. I also have tried the iskender which I knew was a popular dish here and also a common dish in Türkiye. It was slightly underwhelming because the meat wasn't as seasoned and wasn't tender enough, so I had to rely on the tomato sauce and the yogurt for assistance. Another friend had the beef stroganoff and I tasted it a bit. The tenderloin was marinated very well and the demi glace provided good flavor, along with the brussels sprouts that was cooked well enough to serve as a side dish. The lentil soup was pretty good, albeit not spectacular as it was relatively plain, and I know that lentil requires seasoning to give it flavor. The baklava wasn't crispy enough on the top and didn't have enough stickiness or sweetness to compliment the amount of pistachio that was added, but I will say that having a good amount of pistachio was a definite plus. The sutlac was great! The rice pudding flavor was evident and having one scoop with such along with the pistachio on top made it a very enjoyable experience! It also had a lot in a bowl, so the amount included was also very satisfactory. As mentioned previously, this place is a gem and much needed to stay here in Minneapolis. Their menu looks so fascinating that there are more dishes that I want to try, which I am committed to doing. I will also recommend this establishment to anyone looking for Turkish food in the Twin Cities!

Oh. My. Lebanese!!!! The food was OUTSTANDING! The service was REMARKABLE! I loved everything about Lumi from the large selection to the modern decor to the gorgeous outdoor dining - I felt spoiled and satisfied. Lumi was a great place to connect with a dear friend over delicious food. Lumi is a MUST visit!!!

Wow, what a lovely meal I had at Lumi. I was in Minneapolis for a conference. I enjoy trying different flavors, herbs and spices from various places in the world. I selected Lumi for lunch and had the Girit Meze. The bread was delivered on a cutting block straight out of the oven. The Girit was an amazing combination of flavors and composed of Feta, Pistachios, Walnuts and Basil. I also ordered the rustic tomato soup. When the server delivered the meal, he suggested I take a small amount of Girit on my spoon before dipping into the soup. What a great suggestion that was! The ambiance was clean and pleasant. The service was terrific. But most of all, I really enjoyed my lunch!

    Falafel. Yum.

When we walked in the place was empty and I was concerned. But, it filled up quickly while we dined. We were a group of six and there was something on the menu for each of us. We ordered hummus and falafel as appetizers. Both were very good. I had the schnitzel, which was so good. The Brussels sprouts were amazing. The potatoes were just okay. Others in my group ordered salads, burgers, and pasta. Everyone seemed happy with their meals. Zach was our server and he was attentive. He took good care of our table.

Beautiful downtown restaurant with a very large and international menu that includes dishes from India, China, France, Turkey, Italy and many other countries as well as pizza, burgers and fried chicken. Since I'm always a bit skeptical that a restaurant can do so many cuisines well, we stuck to the Turkish foods since the owners are Turkish. The mezze /assortment of dips was amazing. A hot pita-style bread that is puffed like a pillow was brought out alongside a plate of 6 different cold dips including a smoky eggplant dip, a roasted red pepper hummus, a carrot dip, a beet dip and a yogurt dip. All were very tasty. The halloumi cheese was served warm, which was nice but needed more salt and a spicier honey. The hot Turkish dishes were generally good. Over two visits, I tried the lumi special kabob, which was a kabob rolled in a thin pita and cut into slices and served with a dipping sauce, which was good though a little dry for stuck. My friend got a beef casserole that had amazing flavor - my favorite of all the dishes we tried. The kabob platter was flavorful but a little small for the price and some of the meats were a tad dry. The hunkar begendi was odd. Though I love eggplant, it was a bit slimy, and the meat and mozzarella didn't work well with it, resulting in a somewhat sweaty locker room smell and taste. I returned that dish. For desserts, the basque cheesecake was very good, and the rice pudding was pretty good as well. A good downtown spot for some diverse food and large groups. They also have a nice rooftop bar that serves very basic drinks.

Walking in, I was very skeptical of this place. The decor is a bit haphazard. I'm not entirely sure what time they were going for. But the food was delicious. We started with the dip sample (Mezze) and it was amazing. Quite frankly, I could've ordered that as the entire meal just for myself. I was pleased to see they had a number of vegetarian and vegan options. I ended up, ordering the vegetarian kebabs, which were delightful. Often when I order that type of dish, it is very blah, but these were well seasoned and company with delicious rice. My friends I'll order the meat dishes. I can't review them because I didn't taste them, but they were all very happy. I would definitely return to this restaurant.

Adana Kebab w/ a sad unseasoned/naked slaw and laughable side of "sautéed"vegetables.
    David L.

Lumi describes themselves as serving Turkish and international cuisine, so I decided to try one of their Turkish specialties as I love Turkish cuisine. Their version of an Adana Kebab was...well, I guess it was an *attempt* by a mid-west city of Scandinavian folks to produce Turkish cuisine. Their Adana Kebab itself was pretty good - it lacked much seasoning, but it was a well formed and well grilled skewer of lamb/beef. However, the slaw and side of vegetables was laughable. The slaw was unseasoned, undressed shredded cabbage - like a bag of Dole slaw mix from the grocery store was dumped on the plate. And the side of "sautéed" vegetables were...not sautéed. They looked like a $0.33 smattering of frozen vegetables that were briefly steamed and lightly salted. The ambiance of the place is pretty great - even on a Monday night the outdoor patio and indoor restaurant was pretty full and lively. Unfortunately, the service at the bar was really poor. For instance, I sat for an uncomfortably long time before being acknowledged, my server forgot to bring the "puffy bread" I requested, and after taking my water glass to refill it...never brought me a refill. I also didn't appreciate their undisclosed fee of $1.05 for paying by credit card. The menu sounds enticing, but with so many dining options in Minneapolis, I don't think I will return.

This was a cute spot on Nicolette mall. High ceilings and loft type feel. The menu had a huge eclectic selection which sometimes turns me off from a restaurant but I trusted my fellow yelpers and Lumi did not disappoint. I had a nice glass of Bordeaux and there was a good variety of wine, beer and cocktail options. We started with the falafel which often can be too dry. This was not dry at all and good flavor. It came on a bed of hummus and had a nice bright yogurt sauce with it. They also brought out puffy bread with it (can't remember the name) I'm a sucker for lentil soup and this one was perfect for a cold Minnesota night. I asked about the Shrimp Casserole and they explained it exactly as it came out. Don't know that I would have named it casserole but it was exactly what I wanted in order to have the soup too and and not feel too stuffed! The flavor was good but maybe a tad too much paprika? My colleague had the lamb shank and said it was amazing. Would definitely come here again if back in town.

Falafel, Lavender Collins drink, pickled cabbage, beef stroganoff, bread, and Bemi Storma or something like that.
