The prime rib dip and lettuce wedge salad.
    Rebecca K.

You know...I've always been kind of structured in my reviews. This place is 5 stars because everything was perfect that place is 4 stars because this one thing wasn't perfect. I have to rethink that because of this very eatery. The food was good. Not blow me out of the water amazing but certainly tummy filling fare. I had the prime rib and added mushrooms, peppers and onions with a side of au jus. The meat was a bit on the drier side and a little tough. But...onion rings on the side...yes please for these sweet, savory, crispy little rings of greatness. The lettuce wedge salad and crisp, light and satisfying...it just lacked a balsamic glaze to add the need touch of sweetness. And a Spicy Cucumber Martini with a Tajin rim...all you need is one, but you'll want more! Sweet with the sour Tajin jolt was in perfect balance. It is made with jalepeno tequila which I got notes of, but it could have been a bit spicier. So, with the issues, why not a 4 star review, you may ask... It was the service. Hands down the greatest service I have ever had. Our server was at our table to greet us with menus in literal seconds. She was bright, bubbly, and sweet as apple pie. She gave suggestions, hyped the food and drinks. She was efficient and we never lacked for anything. I felt like she was just serving us even though she had a seated area, a bar area, and an outdoor seating space to take care of that was overflowing with people for the holiday weekend with a band! [[HIGHLIGHT]]And the set-up of the restaurant itself was just cool, chill and playful. The barn like feel was so inviting and the outdoor option to sit could make it feel like a new place everytime you come![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] That's why it's a 5 star. Definitely on my visit again and soon list.

I heard there was a change and had to go back to experience the new Spirits in Willoughby. They have reopened the wine car, and I can't wait to go back again just to experience their wine bar. We sat in the bar area, tried a draft and had a cocktail. We really enjoyed the new food, and I loved the Burning River chicken sandwich. Their wing night is Wednesdays, so our party enjoyed the boneless with BBQ. We also got the spud skins and I would absolutely get them again. Our waitress checked in every so often and was just on it, the front staff were running around and provided great service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Spirits seems to always have something going on which is exciting, and I'm glad it's lively again.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Can't wait to go back.

I've been here twice. I came with a group of coworkers the first time and came in the door and there was one bartender who was also serving guests. She was only serving regulars at the bar. I stood around for about 10 minutes confused as I wanted to eat at a table. A coworker of mine finally showed up and she was able to get us a table as she's a regular there. Service was okay when we got there but her priority was the bar. It was just okay. Nothing special. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's in a barn type of building and it was open however they have outside seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Second time I came here was with some friends for our monthly book club meeting. When I tell you we waited over an hour for our food. We were told there was a backup in the kitchen and that it would be awhile. It was busy. Service was just okay. Our server seemed rushed and didn't smile or seem super friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was also so loud that I couldn't hear my friends speak at the same table.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was really good though and I loved the cheeseburger and fries. I wanted well done, not burnt and they burnt my sandwich. It was so hard and I couldn't eat much of it. I will say fries do not come with most meals and they charge an extra $3 to substitute fries which is odd considering I ordered a burger. Overall, it was okay. The food was the highlight. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Personally this gives more bar vibes than restaurant and with the service being so slow I'm not sure I would come back.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Thursday special. 4oz burger for $8.00.

The portion sizes of the meals were small. Walleye meal was disappointing. Would not return.

The food was so-so until I got home and threw-up, then it was terrible. The service was good considering they were jam packed.

Inside it's very small and the tables are crammed together. When people would walk past our table to use the restroom I had at least 2 people hit my purse that was on the back of my chair. The purse isn't even big at all. It just felt extremely tight sitting between others who are dining. The server was very nice but the service was overall slow. We had to wait awhile to get our entrie orders taken. Then waiting even longer for our food. I think the server was overwhelmed with our size table of 8 people. She checked in on us often which was nice but at the end of our dinner she messed up almost everyone's check. It was very disorganized and everyone was confused about what they were paying for or who owed what. When I got my check I had what I ordered on my bill and it was my card number but another girls name showed up on my bill... weird. Food was just okay. About as good as Olive Garden and honestly I would prefer Olive Garden. My friend also wasn't impressed with the food and said she wouldn't go back there. There was nothing about the food that made us excited to go back. My friend got an espresso martini and she said it was okay but strong. She had ordered another one after finishing the first one and when the server brought it out it was basically black and looked like straight espresso coffee. My friend tried it, hated it and asked for 2 creamers to add to it. They couldn't make a good cocktail but they did have a good selection of wines.

We were delighted to see they have started serving lunch again. Had the Chicken Beurre Blanc and it…read morewas excellent. Service was 5+ star (thanks Cairo), warm fresh made rolls & large salad. Will return soon with friends

I made our reservation through OpenTable and included a few special requests. Every one of them was honored, including providing mocktails for the celebratory toast since my parents don't drink alcohol. The staff truly helped make their evening extra special. Our waitress, Sara, was exceptional! She was personable, warm, knowledgeable, and attentive. She went above and beyond effortlessly, making us feel genuinely cared for throughout the evening. She is truly a gem at The Capital Grille. The food was absolutely delicious! We enjoyed everything we ordered, and everyone had wonderful things to say about their meal. Even the mocktail was fantastic. I usually order an alcoholic drink when I dine out, but I would happily order that mocktail again. To top off the evening, they surprised us with celebratory desserts, which made the night even more special. Unfortunately, it just does not feel like the same place anymore. First, the addition of high tops really changes the atmosphere. What once felt upscale and classic now leans more "sports bar with expensive steaks." Maybe that is just me, but part of the appeal was the elegance and experience. Then came the steaks. We ordered three expensive steaks medium, and before they even came out, the waiter realized the kitchen heard "well done." We politely asked for it to be corrected before the food hit the table. Somehow, one still arrived well done anyway. Thankfully, someone at the table took one for the team and ate it, but when dinner runs around $600, you hope the steaks and the temperatures are both memorable for the right reasons. At one point, a side dish was dropped on the floor. Accidents happen, no big deal. But we did have to gently clarify that yes, we would still like the dish... just preferably not the "farm to floor" version. The disappointing part is that I had promised a fantastic worker and his amazing wife a really special night out. This unfortunately was not it. I genuinely hope this was just an off night, because this place used to set the standard. For now though, we will probably try another steakhouse next time.

He said the special was chicken parmigiana so I thought I'd try it. He brought us a very nice bread with a tasty butter and olive oil mix. I ordered the chopped salad that I absolutely loved! There were lives of cauliflower, different types of olives and a pickled red onion that wasn't over bearingly strong. The chicken parmigiana was tasty. Two patties if chicken over fettuccini. I noticed on the way out that eggplant parmigiana was also a special. I might've had that if I'd known. I will definitely come back on a Tuesday to try the eggplant. I might also come back to try their pizza. Nice place. Give it a try!!!

If you didn't know better and walked in the first time, you'd say, "This looks like a BBQ spot!" Of course, it was. Hanging a few doilies and Italian aperitif posters doesn't help. The delicate and frankly, pretty dishes are disconcerting against the rough and tumble tables and chairs place you in the wrong mindset. It just doesn't work. My Bolognese Cavatelli was very good, but my wife felt the Eggplant Parmigiana was simply a cheesy clump, the skin tough and stringy. An excellent bread service goes in the win column. Unfortunately, this was like eating quenelles and lobster on a paper plate washed down with Champagne in a plastic flute.
