My massage here was the best massage experience I've had in my entire life. I've received hundreds of massages and there is something so special about how Brittany is able to attune to the subtleties of the physical and energetic body. I would highly recommend! read more

I would recommend Brittany, but I've tried two other therapists and I regret those appointments. read more

Spirit and Matter - blisters from appt - Massage Therapy Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Spirit and Matter is a unique massage option in Chicago. I feel fortunate to have found it over 6 years ago. I have tried many different places around Chicago and they are all chains/franchises. There is nothing inherently wrong with a chain, but it's very nice to have the option to have a much more tailored experience with someone you can see consistently. I have seen Brittany and I've seen some of her other staff throughout. Everyone is very professional and makes me feel very safe and my needs are consistently addressed and understood. I think the price is very fair for the level of service. You can tell everyone takes the profession seriously and continues to take courses for improvement. read more

I go to Spirit and Matter about every 4 weeks, usually for a cupping massage but sometimes for a deep tissue massage. Brittany has put together a very welcoming and comfortable environment, which makes it possible to get into a good mindset to relax. I never feel rushed or anything, and it's something I look forward to every month since it helps me reset from the stress that accumulates through just living life. read more

I cannot express enough gratitude for Brittany and her work. Spirit and Matter supports my evolving connection to embodied inner wisdom and healing. Thank you! read more

This is an amazing, REAL, not national chain, massage/wellness studio. The new space is very comfy, peaceful, and beautiful. The therapists are top notch--and offer a variety of services including massage, reiki, body work, and beyond. I love that Brittany is focused on creating community. I haven't been to one of the classes/experiences, but I sure would like to get one as a Mother's Day gift if my daughter reads this. Hah! read more

Brittany is an extremely skilled massage therapist who tailors her treatments to my current issues and brings intention to every therapy session. I have several chronic pain conditions, and her cupping massages have been a valuable addition to my physical maintenance routine. The studio is a calm welcoming space in a converted warehouse with easy street parking. read more

Brittany is outstanding with her massage skills . I felt safe and comfortable and relaxed from the moment I entered the session.

I usually forget to leave reviews, but this experience was too incredible not to share! I had a massage and Reiki session with Marianna, and it was truly wonderful. As someone new to Reiki, I appreciated how warmly and clearly she explained everything beforehand. The massage was also one of the best I've had in a long time. I left feeling lighter, both physically and emotionally, and will definitely be returning to Spirit and Matter. read more

I have had only the most amazing experiences at Spirit and Matter with both Brittany and Selena... Fantastic massages and energy work that is on the next level! I have made Spirit and Matter a priority for my self-care routine. I can't recommend them enough! read more

Had my first session with Brittany for body work and reiki. It's been a challenging year and she really helped relieve a lot of my tension and anxiety . During the session she definitely untapped some emotions I was holding onto and I cried. That's never happened to me before. I've also had some soreness in my left thigh due to a previous injury and what ever she did helped loosen my hip. It's feels so much better now. I left with a sense of ease and mental clarity. It was amazing! She is great at her craft and so insightful. read more

It normally takes me forever to remember to write a review but I had to make sure to write this one right away because WOW!! I had a massage and reiki healing with Marianna and it was a truly wonderful experience. I was new to reiki and Marianna walked me through everything ahead of time and was so warm and reassuring as she guided me through the session. The massage itself was also fantastic, the best I've had in a long while. I left feeling lighter physically and emotionally and plan to return to Spirit and Matter regularly going forward. Thank you, Marianna! :) read more

The reiki bodywork combination was everything I needed. Brittany explained the service thoroughly, had a peaceful and calming presence about her, and provided very healing energy and body work. I have already recommended Spirit and Matter to friends and family members. I will be going back! Thank you, Brittany! read more

I had a wonderful experience at Spirit and Matter. I booked and got a next day appointment. The room was calming and inviting. Brittany talked me through what to expect, and we set an intention for my massage. I got the Swedish massage and it was exactly what I needed! It was the perfect combination of relaxing while still working out tension in my body. Can't wait to go back! read more

Very comfortable and inviting space. Brittany was thorough assessing intent initially and is a very talented therapist. The massage portion was targeted as if she knew what needed attention, great intuition and technique. I appreciated the time to focus and relax. I'll likely return as I can. Thank you. read more

I could not get home to write this review fast enough! I would like to start off by saying that I have not had a massage or physical therapy in 7yrs! As a flight attendant, I have built up a lot of pain and tension in my shoulders and neck from repeatedly putting up and taking down my heavy luggage as well has holding onto stress in those areas. I've been putting off seeing anybody for it until I recently could not take it anymore. Due to past trauma, I was extensively searching places for a deep tissue massage and painstakingly reading reviews to find a place that would be best suited for me. After reading Brittany's reviews and taking a look at her website, I felt like I had found the right one. Well I did! Brittany took the time to listen to my concerns and what I wanted to work on. Her space and demeanor were very calming and put me at ease. I was nervous I was going to be too tense or cry, but omg I felt so relaxed the whole time. At the end we had a very nice talk that felt like the perfect little therapy moment to round out the amazing session. Raving about her to my friends and can't wait to go back! read more

I've always been a person who believed in science , but I've also always believed that we are more than just our bodies. I believe us to be body, mind, and spirit. I also believe that all areas need to be tended to on a regular basis , in order to stay in our best health. For the past 4 years I've been struggling with frequent kidney stones , along with other health issues. I've never been one to be good at self care , though I believe we need to care for ourselves as whole, I've never been good at it. Recently I've been dealing with the usual kidney stones , along with feeling highly stressed, and other health issues. It randomly came to me the other night that it was time to try something else aside from just going to my doctor. That is when I booked my first massage with Brittany... 10 minutes into the massage , I started crying hysterically. I can't pin point exactly what caused the crying, but I couldn't stop... I believe there are emotions and stressors trapped inside of me , and some of them were finally released. Also, before going in , my kidneys were in pain , after leaving Brittany, I have 0 kidney pain. As soon as the massage was over and I got in my car , I booked a second appointment with her. I plan to continue to go to Spirit And Matter for massages , and all areas of inner healing. I can't recommend them or thank them enough for the services they provide! read more

I can't say enough about how positive my experience was with Brittney! I've practiced cupping and acupuncture for years and Ive NEVER had an experience like the one I had with her. I left the session feeling completely refreshed and recharged. Even more, I woke up this morning feeling the same. I will 100% be back read more

I found Spirit and Matter here on Yelp. I needed to change my scheduled appt a couple times which Brittany did so with ease. When I came in for my session, Brittany listened to my problems and made me safe and welcome. I'm so happy I found her because she was really intune with what my body needed once she got to work. Also she is very conscious of using separate facial oils for the face vs the body and I appreciated that! Looking forward to working with her again read more

Brittany has been my massage therapist and healing provider for many years now. What I like most about her is that she's able to heal parts of me that I didn't realize were broken. She's extremely professional and always willing to find ways to accommodate me (for example, giving me a massage while I'm watching my baby!) I'll keep using Brittany as my provider for as long as she is practicing! Thanks for all you do for me and the rest of your clients! read more

I had scheduled a deep tissue massage with Brittany and was able to get in fairly quickly! I had quite a bit of tension built up in my neck, shoulders and back. I'll just say I needed a lot of work done! I was happy to find out that she would gladly just focus on that area for the 60min as I so badly needed that. I left feeling much of the tension relieved! She explained that cupping would be beneficial for my situation and I can't wait to try that in my next session with Brittany! I felt like she really listened to what I needed and that will keep me coming back. Thank you! read more

My 90 minute session with Brittany was simply spectacular. She is warm, attentive, intuitive and has incredible skills that surpass what one would "normally" find in a therapist. Brittany is hard (for me) to describe as I can see her succeeding at anything she does and I was left with the distinct impression that she answers to a higher calling. Her studio is perfect. Her room is welcoming. She listens, asks questions and delivers her modality in response to what she learns about you. I was actually speechless for the entire time and floated out of there realizing that Brittany never looked at the clock. On my way out, I saw her next client. All I could muster at that point was, "Dude, you are in for a treat." read more

I met Brittany at a spiritual gathering and felt an immediate sense of trust. The following week, I was having a lot of discomfort, both physically and emotionally, and felt very frustrated and stuck. I booked my reiki/bodywork session a few days later and loved that the space was as warm and welcoming as Brittany herself. She took the time to truly listen to my story and my concerns and offered gentle wisdom to guide my session along. She was very focused and intentional as she worked on me and I left the appointment feeling a bit less stuck energetically and a lot more clear on what it is that I needed to work on. I especially appreciated Brittany's insights at the end of the session, and have continued to reflect upon them over the last month. She is truly in tune with herself and clearly does "the work" - this, along with her soothing presence, makes her an exceptional healer. read more

I have made self care a priority for myself after I found Brittany's healing hands. She creates such a warm welcoming atmosphere with her selection of music, crystals, essential oils & how she performs reiki on my body. I feel so loved and connected to myself so much so that the week after I recieved my massage, I feel so calm & composed. It is the highlight of my week to receive treatment with Brittany!!=) You can truly see how connected she is to her offerings and the passion behind what she does. It's so important to find someone you can truly feel comfortable around when you allow someone to work on your sacred temple (your body). I strongly recommend the Spirit & Matter Speciality Treatment. I have a session booked this Monday!! read more

Brittany was so supportive, professional, and kind. I had a wonderful experience! Thank you.

Brittany is an incredible healer. I have received bodywork and massage before, but Brittany is the first person I've worked with who invited me to go deeper into the experience through breathing and visualization. She took the time to explain the whole process and asked about what pain I have been working through physically, as well as if there were any areas I was not comfortable having her work on. I felt held and cared for, and was able to heal through this experience on multiple levels. The aromatherapy, the setting, and the massage were all awesome and relaxing. Highly recommend! read more

Spirit and Matter is truly a hidden gem in the greater Chicagoland area. Brittany is an incredibly talented therapist who takes the time not only to listen, but also connect with her clients so each session is tailored specifically to meet the needs of each individual she treats. Her body and massage work are absolutely unmatched. I work as a Critical Care Nurse so I spend a great deal of time on my feet and lifting heavy patients. As a result I have issues with back pain as well as other problems associated with working in a high-stress environment. I always leave her massage sessions feeling completely relaxed, rejuvenated, and PAIN FREE!! Brittany is extremely knowledgeable and constantly sharing ways to help you strengthen the mind-body-spirit connection and improve your health overall. I was extremely excited when she started offering Reiki and energy healing to her ever-expanding list of services and cannot wait to schedule a session!! If you're not taking advantage of everything Spirit and Matter has to offer, I promise you're missing out on the highest quality healing work available in Chicago. read more
