Spirit and Matter is a unique massage option in Chicago. I feel fortunate to have found it over 6 years ago. I have tried many different places around Chicago and they are all chains/franchises. There is nothing inherently wrong with a chain, but it's very nice to have the option to have a much more tailored experience with someone you can see consistently. I have seen Brittany and I've seen some of her other staff throughout. Everyone is very professional and makes me feel very safe and my needs are consistently addressed and understood. I think the price is very fair for the level of service. You can tell everyone takes the profession seriously and continues to take courses for improvement. read more

Had my first session with Brittany for body work and reiki. It's been a challenging year and she really helped relieve a lot of my tension and anxiety . During the session she definitely untapped some emotions I was holding onto and I cried. That's never happened to me before. I've also had some soreness in my left thigh due to a previous injury and what ever she did helped loosen my hip. It's feels so much better now. I left with a sense of ease and mental clarity. I could not get home to write this review fast enough! I would like to start off by saying that I have not had a massage or physical therapy in 7yrs! As a flight attendant, I have built up a lot of pain and tension in my shoulders and neck from repeatedly putting up and taking down my heavy luggage as well has holding onto stress in those areas. I've been putting off seeing anybody for it until I recently could not take it anymore. Due to past trauma, I was extensively searching places for a deep tissue massage and painstakingly reading reviews to find a place that would be best suited for me. After reading Brittany's reviews and taking a look at her website, I felt like I had found the right one. Well I did! Brittany took the time to listen to my concerns and what I wanted to work on. I've always been a person who believed in science , but I've also always believed that we are more than just our bodies. I believe us to be body, mind, and spirit. I also believe that all areas need to be tended to on a regular basis , in order to stay in our best health. For the past 4 years I've been struggling with frequent kidney stones , along with other health issues. I've never been one to be good at self care , though I believe we need to care for ourselves as whole, I've never been good at it. Recently I've been dealing with the usual kidney stones , along with feeling highly stressed, and other health issues. It randomly came to me the other night that it was time to try something else aside from just going to my doctor. That is when I booked my first massage with Brittany... 10 minutes into the massage , I started crying hysterically. I can't pin point exactly what caused the crying, but I couldn't stop... I believe there are emotions and stressors trapped inside of me , and some of them were finally released. Also, before going in , my kidneys were in pain , after leaving Brittany, I have 0 kidney pain. As soon as the massage was over and I got in my car , I booked a second appointment with her. I had scheduled a deep tissue massage with Brittany and was able to get in fairly quickly! I had quite a bit of tension built up in my neck, shoulders and back.
