Nancy is so much more than a massage therapist. She takes the time to listen, understand, and takes in everything to know just how to help you that session. No one session is the same, which is great - at times she'll do cranio sacral, mixed with a bit of touch healing. Other times she'll do a pool session for water therapy, very cool!I've found that her healing therapies go beyond fixing my muscle tightness - I can relax and breathe and feel refreshed after a visit. I'd describe my sessions as warm and welcoming. If you like, she'll use aromatherapy scents - nothing overwhelming, just a nice touch. Nancy is comforting, nurturing and a complete sweetheart. I've been to all three locations in Naperville, Glen Ellyn and Chicago. They're all relaxing and private - I prefer the Chicago location best. I've been on the receiving end of Nancy's therapeutic touch for about a year and a half now, thanks to my friend Kim, who doesn't want to see me save any money whatsoever. No really, Kim, thanks for not getting me hooked on benzos instead. Nancy is the chillest woman in the west suburbs, so much so that I often forget the season we're in when I'm out of my clothes and on her table, in a cozy little room with several reminders to forget one's trouble. I don't care about the occasional sound from the outside world, my preoccupations fade, and I generally lose all concept of time and discomfort - physical or mental. She doesn't do the deep tissue thing, so don't call her if you prefer to get beaten a little. She has, however, helped me tremendously with my TMJ issues, back pain, and overall state of relaxation. Generally, I start out on my back, then get a little cranio-sacral work, then flip over for the back attention. I like to go for 90 minutes ($115) when I can, but 60 is great too (only $75). Awesome CranioSacral Work! In the midst of a particularly transformative period of my life, I found myself sitting in Nancy's cozy space over in Naperville, relating to her the various stresses plaguing me, the road behind, and the journey I saw ahead. During that first visit I had no idea what, if anything, she could do to help ameliorate the restlessness that I was feeling, but I had an immediate sense of trust in her and thus ended up placing myself entirely into her capable hands. That initial massage began traditionally -- which was great, I must add -- but somewhere near the end, Nancy started lightly touching various points on my scalp and face. "This is weird," I thought. And then the floodgates opened. For those ten short minutes that she seemingly did nothing more than barely graze my head, I experienced a range of profound emotions the likes of which I didn't think were humanly possible. It was as if all of checks and walls and defense mechanisms I had built over the years had been torn down, leaving only the true feelings present at my core. It was scary and amazing and more than a little life changing, but such is the power of CranioSacral massage. I'm the last person in the world who should be believing in CranioSacral work. Being highly analytical, I tend to accept only those aspects of life that can be reduced to concrete formulas which have been rigorously tested by pointy-headed guys with IQs much higher than mine. That being said, in recent months I have found myself becoming more and more open to trying things outside of my comfort level. And when those things just seem to work (or I just seem to have an affinity for them ... or just simply enjoy them), I forgo the analysis of "why?" and just roll with it. Nancy's CranioSacral work falls right into this category; I cannot explain what is happening at the biochemical or molecular level when she performs her magic, and truthfully, I don't care. I just know that every time I have a session I get more and more in touch with the true Me, and that's all that matters. Every hour-plus session per week makes me a little bit more whole. Very memorable because it was Not a relaxing experience. She told me the wrong directions, she knew she did and did not acknowledge it with saying sorry for the mix up or here's a discount for the extra gas and time you spent looking for the location she clearly said wrong not once, twice, but three times. I have my boyfriend as a witness. When I finally found it, it was at a seedy office building and she had a rented room with no bathroom. I went there after reading the over hyped reviews. Again mentioning she gave me the wrong address, she said nothing. I could have just said you know what, forget it and I'm not going to meet with you but I just had to try this "so called experience" and to no avail. For months, I had put it away from my mind but now that I'm on yelp and her place showed up again, it reminded me of how disgusted I was, that day after the experience. Did I tell her she caused me to be late? Yes, definitely, in more ways than one. Did she apologize and consider what she did? Nope! Would she care if I told her, her massage sucked, of course not! She would have the same reaction as to when I told her she gave me the wrong directions 3 times! How do you expect someone to care if you hated the entire experience including the massage, after paying for a service that was stressful? Do you think she would have discounted or say "here's a refund." I already told her earlier about how she mixed up the directions and caused me to waste hours driving around, so what makes you think she would actually CARE to refund anything? Her inconsideration showed! She should have been accountable in the first place by saying, "You know what since I caused you to get lost for so long, waste your time, gas and energy by giving you the wrong street address here's a discount, but nope that first opportunity was ignored. Can you say for that long ride home I tried to justify something good about the experience? Believe me I am a positive person who likes to see the good in everyone but I felt I had been taken advantage of by her stupid mistake of telling me the WRONG ADDRESS, oh and under delivering. The room itself was okay. See there's a positive! I went there, only to check the address hours prior to the appointment. Unable to find it anywhere not even on her website I called her. She then told me the wrong street which led me on a wild goose chase for over 20 minutes. Considering when I called her and she told me it was Naper road my GPS lead me to the same house 3 times. I became nervous, frustrated, and felt extremely rushed to make the appointment and find it. It's not GPS' fault. Intuitively, I just made a guess and I put in Naperville road into the GPS and found an address right away, that was within a short distance. There is also a Naper Road different from Naperville Road in that same town. Anyway, I arrived late, tired, and tried to make up time. I took a deep breath and went in anyway when I should have just called it quits but I was so desperate for that oh so fabulously advertised cranio sacral FEELING that NEVER CAME and since it was such a trouble to find. Honestly, that was the worst cranio-sacral massage! All the reviews that said it would be good, NOT TRUE! Not even close! I have had students at massage schools do better, or at least they were worth the price, I have had salons in downtown Chicago on Michigan Avenue, in Geneva, and even in DeKalb do way better! I was waiting the entire time for something magical to happen. It never did! On top of that she said I was nervous. Ya think? Maybe because 5 minutes in, I realized, I should have cancelled the appointment because nothing was happening and she was inconsiderate ignoring how she stated the street name but "abbreviated" for some reason. It was Naperville road and she said it was Naper. There are many other places in the city being that I'm out in the burbs now, I had to at give her a try just in case. Well by then, from rushing the entire time trying to trying again and again in loops to find her place my heart had been pumping too fast in such a short amount of time, there was no way to relax. The massage was subpar, the head hardly was touched, if anything very lightly. I get more action from a cat walking past me. The one star is because I can't go any lower and choose no stars. I just don't like it when I feel scammed from a place that is supposed to be relaxing with the misleading reviews that talk about some thing that was never found. I found Nancy from Chi Baby here a few weeks ago when I decided I could no longer handle the pain in my shoulder. She was able to see me the same day which was simply fortuitous. The Naperville location has good parking, easy to find and the studio is very comfortable. I felt right at home and she really listened when I told her concerns and picked up on some things I didn't mention. So, the massage was one of the best I've ever had. Nancy is the best! I had been looking for a massage after moving to the area and found her through a web search. I expected a massage and got so much more out of it. Nancy has a great spirit and it only took a few minutes for me, to feel like I've known her forever. I have been back since my first massage and plan on going back in the future. Nancy (Chi Baby) is the best of the best! I'm shocked to hear she has had a bad review, because she is truly an intuitive, caring person who is a highly trained massage therapist. I have had massages off and on for 30 years and have been a client of Nancy's since 2006. What initially brought me to her table was some painful arthritis and fibromyalgia. She was able to help me function by gentle massage and oils when I was in a lot of pain. After a regular routine of massage therapy, the pain is gone. She recommended a chiropractor (that works very much like her) and with continuing treatment with both of these professionals, I now have a quality of life that would not been possible otherwise. It's been three years since I began seeing Nancy to help relieve stress headaches and the wear and tear of scoliosis. I quickly discovered that Nancy is one of the most dedicated and knowledgeable therapists I have ever met. She has traveled the world taking classes in specific theories related to the healing arts, pain management and body movement therapies. Her cranial-sacral work has eliminated chronic headaches and numbness in my hands that I have suffered for years. Not only are her sessions relaxing but they increase my range of motion, when I stretch after a workout I am amazed how much further I can now stretch. That said, Nancy takes a whole person approach to healing. She takes into account any stresses you might have, asks some thoughtful questions and before you know it she's devised a treatment approach that works. Although she's known to work instant miracles with neck crinks and such, it really takes a series of sessions to promote true and consistent healing. And for those looking for new approaches to healing and relaxation, she offers Watsu therapy in the summer involving a heated pool which I tried and found unique and frankly unprecedented in the range of motion I had in my back afterwards and during the session. I would concur, Nancy uses an approach where she puts your body into different positions that help to work out stress points, her massages are relaxing and therapeutic. If you want to get beaten up in a painful deep tissue session, this is not the therapist for you. Nancy's approach is 100% relaxing, gentle, therapeutic and for me, the results have included better overall health. I've been seeing Nancy for a few years now and she has done amazing things (from day one, actually) for my shoulder/neck pain and hand/arm numbness. In fact, the first time I saw Nancy, she told me where my pain originated and then proceeded to "release toxins" in the affected areas. I could actually feel the release of pain in my shoulder. I remember looking up at her with tears streaming into my ears. How she did this is a mystery to me. She seems to "feel" pain in others, I believe.
