I received a couple of gift cards for Vive!, and finally got a chance to visit recently. I was…read morehaving some serious back pain and made an appointment with Amanda. Vive is a very calming space. The lights are low and it's very comfortable. It looks small at first but there's a small waiting room down the hall from the entrance. Since it was my first visit, I spoke with the receptionist prior to my visit, and I filled out a medical/treatment history upon arrival. Amanda reviewed it with me thoroughly before starting my treatment. Amanda was also very professional. In addition to going over health information, she made sure that I was comfortable with what massage entails, that consent and comfort was paramount, and that I could tell her at any point if I was uncomfortable with what was happening. I really appreciated that clear communication. Something that's really helpful is that Vive lists all their therapists on their website, and in addition to their specialties it lists their pressure level. That was extremely helpful to me, because I knew I wanted someone who used firm pressure, so that definitely helped me find the right therapist. My time with Amanda was not only relaxing but helpful, as my back--whilst not completely neutral--felt much better after my session. And within the week the pain was essentially gone. I don't know if this was the reason, but it was certainly a contributing factor. In addition to standard massage, they have an infrared sauna here as well. They also sell a few items that may provide further relief. There are a few parking spaces in the lot directly in front of the business, and there are a few diagonal spaces on the street as well (just be sure not to block the sidewalk). If necessary, there's also parking along the neighborhood streets, too.

Normally I expect to receive the full amount of massage time I paid for, aside from a few minutes to undress and dress. But unfortunately, at every visit here, I've lost at least 10 minutes of time due to delays from the therapists and excessive time for getting situated. Therapists were either late coming from breaks, had gone overtime with a prior client, or didn't seem to care about being on time.

It's unfortunate that I'm writing this bad review because Petrina seemed like a nice person…read more I will take some responsibility in my bad experience because I'm not very vocal about what I want (or don't want) - though there are some universal massage etiquette/rules that were thrown out the window. I have to be honest that the massage experience was one of worst I've had because: 1) She was almost 20 min late to the appointment. As in she wasn't there at all because she was held up in traffic. 2) 90% of my massage was done while bright white fluorescent office lights were on. This was not only odd but made the experience not relaxing. The bright office light was on until I turned over on my back, then she turned off the light and a side lamp was the source of light. The room was pretty dark since the room didn't have a dimmer and therefor it's not the best room for massages for that reason. 3) I was supposed to get a deep tissue. I like A LOT of pressure but this massage was not a massage at all. I was basically oiled up because there was absolutely no pressure. The aches and pains I hoped would be relieved were not and made the time (and money albeit discounted via a Groupon deal) spent there a big waste. 4) Petrina talked THE WHOLE time. Sometimes she talked with hand gestures - you can't massage and gesture at the same time. I will not be going back and cannot recommend this place. There is a 5 star review so maybe my experience was an anomaly. I'm curious so I hope others write a review.

But was very difficult to understand. I can definitely be OK with heavy accents and other languages. That's not what bothered me at all. When we got there, five minutes before our appointment, there was a miscommunication, and she thought we were getting full body massages. Again, it was challenging to communicate, but we finally both understood. Our massages were run-of-the-mill. Nothing exciting or even fantastic. And at $60 for 30 minutes, I expected a ton more. I've had way way way better foot massages for much less $$ The place is small and a bit run down Parking may be an issue during high volume time as they share a space with other businesses.
