As someone who has been to a lot of clubs in a lot of places, I will say that this is pretty average. Much more packed (and with some very sexy people) than a lot of clubs in more fashionable towns than Houston. Full of excitement and intensity. A little bit of a zoo, but if that's what you want, you'll love it here. On the other hand prices are awful and service can be non-existent. And considering how big it is, it should be a lot busier. They have some great DJs (we only come here for EDM) but they're way too expensive. Aoki is awesome. read more

This place is for people who don't care if they catch COVID-19. I was invited for a birthday celebration. This was my first time at this establishment. I was not aware that people do not wear mask in an extremely packed club. There was absolutely no social distancing. The club was very smoked out. My cousin and I were literally the only people in there with mask on, besides the staff. There were people there trying to convince me to take my mask off. After chasing the bottle service waitress, she told me she would give me a refund. I have disputed this with my credit card company and plan on filing fraudulent charges. This is not acceptable from any establishment. This also happened to the table next to us. I have the bottle service waitress on camera, asking me to take her phone number for next time so she didn't have to refund me. I've been to a fair share of clubs in my day. Spire is owned by the same people of Cle, a club that I do like, so I was expecting a similar experience at Spire. Several weeks in advance, I reserved a table by reaching out to them on Facebook. They emailed me a confirmation. Spire is located downtown in not the nicest part of town. Once I arrived, I approached the bouncer and let him know that I had a table reserved. That's when it all began. He did find me on the list and let me in but said that my group of friends would have to pay to get in. Umm...what? When I'm paying for multiple bottles and dropping close to $1,000, you better damn well be sure that my friends are going to get in for free. This is standard at any club. Another employee came up and I explained the situation. He eventually let my friends in for free but acted like he was doing me a service and mentioned that I should book tables through him next time. Leaves a sour taste in your mouth. You expect a certain level of service when you're giving a business quite a bit of money. Spire is a renovated church. Talk about a transformation. We were brought to our table which was on the second floor. After telling the waitress what I wanted, she came back with a paper bill. They automatically charge 20% gratuity which is normal for bottle service at a club. They then give you a tablet where you insert your credit card and sign the bill. However, here's where it gets shady. After they put in your card, they give you a tablet and there's a screen where you can add a tip. If you don't read your paper bill carefully, or if you're already drunk, there's a good chance you won't realize that they've already charged you 20% gratuity. As a result, it's pretty easy to give them a 35-40% tip. I didn't fall for it but be careful about this if you get bottle service here. Compared to Cle, Spire is super cramped. There isn't a lot of room in between the tables and you don't have a lot of room dedicated to your section. The dance floor was equally packed. It was so packed we had no motivation to even go downstairs to check it out. On top of that, our waitress pretty much went MIA after pouring the first couple of drinks. We had to ask for extra glasses from other waitresses. When you're making 20% off a large bill, I expect you to come by often and make sure we're doing alright. This review is already getting pretty long so I'll get off my soapbox. It's remarkable that Cle and Spire are owned by the same people as the service and the experience are a major downgrade at Spire. I won't return. read more

This is beyond that worst night club I have been to. I come up and ask to use the restroom. I'm charged for entry. Prior to being charged im told I can go get my sister and renter. I come out the restroom, walking out, the doorman says $20 for reentry. I tried to explain myself but your guard pushes me out the way. First and last time there. If I could give it a negative rating; that would still be too high. The layout is horrid and it's an accident waiting to happen. The staff is unprofessional. Kaskade was way over sold. I actually saw the Fire Marshall come into the venue, as I was fleeing for safety. One of the "security" amateurs working the event was over heard telling patrons, "stop acting like children", while they were attempting to exit and enter main room. I've attended multiple shows from artist such as Adventure Club, Yellow Claw, Netsky, Alison Wonderland, Deadmou5, Diplo at various venues within Houston. This "joke", should never be considered by tallant of this caliber. Stereo Live and Revention / Bayou Music Cntr by far exceed expectations and bid far better accommodations. I've been going here since I was 18 and I am 21 now. Out of all the clubs this one is my favorite. I've read nearly every review and have decided to finally make my own. Parking: there are multiple places to park. The earlier u arrive the better the price. 10-30 dollars depending on where u park. Entry: it's always 20$ and at midnight it goes up to 40. If there is an event I highly recommend buying tickets online because it's way cheaper and way less of a hassle. As for the reviews about pit pocketing. It has never happened to me or anyone I know. But I am also the same girl who holds onto my phone for dear life. My bf holds all my stuff and has never come across this issue. If u get caught drinking underage u will be asked to leave obviously. I have heard a lot about bartenders writing their own tips. I recommend filling in the tip line clearly or save urself and just bring cash. Cash is a better tip anyway. Drinks range $20+ I personally have never had an issue with any bouncer. They did take my fake away but he didn't rat me out. He asked for my real one and let me in. Again he prolly knew how old I was I went there all the time. I was just stupid that day. The inside is super lit. Get in the middle of the dance floor and Dance! Don't just stand by everyone! You can not experience a clubs full potential without getting in the middle of the dance floor. If u don't like someone or something. Mean mug them. They will move. And people are super friendly. Girls get invited to sections left and right and bottle girls are so nice and so pretty!! Only complain is I stay in dress code even if it isn't enforced and many girls are wearing shoes or flats. Spire can be a hit or miss nightclub, it's usually sucks but some nights are actually a vibe.The crowd is mixed ages but mostly younger adults. The music is mostly rap all night, if you like dancing and want to break a sweat this is the nightclub to go to. The drinks are well priced, sections could cost you about $600-1500 depending on the liquor bottles you get. The club also turns into an after hour night club after 2am. I personally don't like coming here until after 2am but depending on the night and the crowd it can be a good time. Overall 5/10 read more

This place is terribly managed and sketchy. Me and a friend came here, waited inline until we got to the front and paid $20 each to get in. As we're paying some of our other friends we were meeting called and said they just arrived. We stepped back a few feet from the register to not block the line and allow others to go in. Wow, just wow. Spire is easily the worst club I have ever been to for so, so many reasons. At first I was skeptical of the negative reviews since most night clubs get poor reviews anyways and are much better than they appear on review sites like Yelp. However, that is not the case for Spire. Do not take these reviews with a grain of salt. I mean, just go and check the reviews on Google. Since I have so much to say, I'm going to break it down into sections for ease of reading and to emphasize how Spire is terrible from beginning to end. [Ticket Buying Process] My friends and I bought tickets for Kaskade. Considering that he is a popular artist, the first tier of tickets of sold out within minutes. Normally, I see tickets go up to 3 tiers. However, for Kaskade there were about 10 different price tiers starting at $40 and going up to $80. Already you can tell that Spire only cares about milking as much money they can out of its customers. [Security] What security? In light of recent events, I expected there to be some protocol to check for weapons, but nope. There was none. Considering how overpacked the venue was, I was definitely scared for my life at times. [Venue] The layout is absolutely terrible. There are two levels. The main dance area has tables all around the perimeter of the room and dance floor. If you're lucky, you can stand around the tables and stare at people's butts all night long. However, if you're luckier and make it to the dance floor, you can get pushed, squished, gets drinks spilled on you with no escape route for the entirety of the night. Oh, but if you make it to the top floor which is reserved for VIP, then you get to be away from the chaos. But jokes on you, because there is no ventilation up there! My friends and I managed to make it to the top only to find out it was super hot and humid to the point where the walls were wet. Oh, and if you're super lucky, you can stand directly in front of the stage, get a direct view of the stage, but wait! there's a disco ball blocking the artist. [Overall Experience] Looking back, I can only laugh at how terrible it was. There were so many people that I'm 100% sure it is worse than any Wal-Mart on Black Friday. When I looked at the workers who had to brave the crowd to serve the tables, I could tell they were regretting every second of being there. And they weren't the only ones. My advice to you is to don't come here, but if you must, know that as soon as you step in that building, you are putting your life and humanity at risk. read more

For the record, most of the bad reviews are stemming from the night Kaskade came to play at Spire. I can understand why so many people are put off by Spire, but here's my take on the club: The main club layout is probably 1/2 the size of Stereo Lives floor ground, to give you an idea (just an estimate). It's a different type of venue obviously, and not big enough for a big name DJ to play at in my opinion, unless they up ticket and bottle service prices to a hardcore extent (or a comvination of high prices and overselling like for Kaskade). Dress code seems to vary, as it's not too strict, but certainly not EDM attire (maybe, it depends on the night, though). The music and sound systems were great, and everyone had a goodnight in general. The random people we ran into at this club also seemed to be friendly in general. My only qualms were the small/tight dance floor, and the fact you will be bumping into other people all night which kind of kills the fun. Other than that, it was good and I would return again (although probably not if a big name DJ comes, unless we have bottle service). read more

I'm not much of a drinker, but I do like to have fun with my friends on the dance floor; so this place is perfect. Everyone dances here and only a few people stand around gawking at other people. Spire is an upscale club that is pleasing to the eye. Everything looks brand new, and I liked the set up. Like most nightclubs in this day and age, it suffers from an incurable case of " Section-itis." Too many sections strewn around the main room of the nightclub. The ground floor and the balcony is pretty much sectioned out. The area in front of the Deejay booth is decent sized dance and serves as a de facto dance floor. I went here on a Wednesday night ( July 19th, 2017), which is their Hip Hop night. All the staff I encountered were cool. The dress code reflected the Hip hop themed night, so casual and Hip Hop attire was allowed. They weren't tripping on ball caps, t-shirts, tennis shoes or anything like that. The reason I'm taking one star off of my rating is because of the PEOPLE, and not the nightclub itself. Speaking from a man's perspective, if you're single you will fall in love with the caliber of women whom attend Spire ( if the night I went is the norm). There were high caliber, top notch, fly women everywhere! And I don't even want to talk about the women whom work there. Extremely attractive bottle service girls. What I didn't like about this club is that it felt very junior high school. I'm talking about girls on one side, and boys on the other side. There was virtually no heterosexual action going on, especially on the dance floor. The Deejay kept saying, " This sh** is lit", almost as if he was trying to fool himself and the club goers into feeling that the club was lit. But In reality the dance floor was as far away from " lit" as humanly possible.I tried to be that dance floor spark numerous times. I can dance real good, and as long as I can get a cooperative female, it will get lit. All it takes is one man and one women to get it "popping" on the dance floor and next thing you know the dance floor is full of men and women getting it in. Unfortunately, the women preferred to basically sway from side to side by them self or with their girls. I recall approaching one woman whom was dancing by herself literally all night. I was like, " I've been watching you dancing by yourself all night. Come dance with me so we can do this right....breath much needed life into this situation." The woman said, " You're so sweet" as she gave me hug, but she wasn't with my plan. She wanted to continue swaying side to side and twiddling her thumbs in boredom like everyone else. This club has all the elements to be " lit", but if the clientele isn't trying to turn up, interact with the opposite sex, and abandon the junior high school mentality of boys over here and girls over there. A nightclub such as Spire is not going to be able to fulfill its potential. Went to see Kaskade on 01.21.18 Not sure who lied to who but they definitely over sold the tickets, some of my friends who had tickets couldn't get in, so they basically got ripped of on the ticket price and couldn't get refunds. Speaking of oversold it was so packed that no one could move and people were standing in the walkways. The bouncers were aggressive and unprofessional, instead of defusing situations they made them worse when they came started shoving people telling them to get out of the way, causing people to fall down. I saw at least 2 fights due to the direct actions of club staff. If there had been any sort of emergency 80-90% of the crowd probably would have perished. Took about 30 minutes to get a drink and even then it tasted watered down/ a light pour, I can't be certain because of the number of people trying to get a drink made it impossible to see what was going on behind the bar. The only positive I can think of is that the sound system was great that we could actually enjoy the music to a small degree in the back though we couldn't see the light show. So in summary: The drinks are weak, the staff is rude and unprofessional, they'll rip you off as well as risk your life to make an extra dollar. You couldn't pay me to go there. read more

My friends and I (18/19) visited Houston this weekend and went to Spire on Saturday night when Tay Money was performing. The club is 18+. You don't receive Xs on your hands, but they give wristbands to 21+. I don't know much about the parking scenario because we took an Uber. It was a $30 cover for us, but that could've been different than a normal Saturday night because there was a performer and we're 18+ so it might've been less for 21+. They accept card and cash at the door! The club did smell like weed so if you can't be around that, probably not the place for you. If you're scared of Covid, don't come here because there isn't really any mask wearing and you're up against a lot of people. If you want to have a good time dancing with your group, this is the place for you. The music consisted of new hip hop mixed with a few popular 2000s hip hop tracks. The DJ was really good. They have private section type things that are either roped off or have a bouncer standing by them. Also an upstairs thing as well as the actual stage where the DJs were itself. The actual dance floor was where we were and we had a blast. Would recommend this place to a younger crowd as there were many college students like us there. The bathrooms were relatively clean for it being a club too! Also, there isn't really a dress code because I saw many different levels of dressed up. I ordered a henny and coke which was watered down and costs $13 and with the extra $2 charge for gratuity I spent $15 for a drink! Now they know that is way too damn expensive on top of paying $20 to park and $20 to get in! For a couple of hours I spent over $50! Straight taxing people! I normally go to Crystal Beach when I go to Houston but for my 38th Birthday I wanted to go there and hang with the locals and get a feel for the city and it felt very expensive. Lol!
