I have only been to the McIntyre's in the Heights off of 20th so can only speak for that location. I have been to the Heights location probably close to 3-4 times now which is odd looking back that somehow I ended up there that many times. I wouldn't say it's a place I would seek out personally but I don't necessarily mind going there if others want to go. First off, the service is a bit on the slower side but I don't think that's the bar or bartender's fault. The bar area is small-ish compared to the amount of patrons that occupy the space. The patrons are typically there to pound some drinks too. It can definitely get a bit rowdy there; think overserved patrons, activities going on in the bathroom, people getting kicked out. It is unfortunate that cars being broken into in that neighborhood seems to be a regular occurrence too. If you're looking for a wild night out, McIntyre's Heights might be a good choice for you. The security guards have big egos and sadly like to pick on big built men! My husband and I loved this place until last time we visited his ID got stuck in the wallet, as he is trying to get it out, the security got impatient, became rude, we didn't understand it, another security got involved, my husband told them to come down, next thing I see there are 2 security guards and 2 police officers, cornering him and asking my husband to leave. We never saw this before here or anywhere. That was our first spot of the night. We were embarrassed but literally laughing at how ridiculous that was over an ID that they could easily have waited for. We just went to the place next door Austin's Backyard and had one of the best nights ever. Definitely scratching this place OFF our list for good. This was my first time to this establishment. The place is huge and nice. It had a good vibe to it and all the people there were all super friendly. The drinks were reasonable and the service was great. I was there during a bday celebration during the day. Anyways the only gripe I have is the parking. I believe if you're buying drinks and eating at this place it should be free. People are paying 30 bucks for parking and 100 plus for drinks . Such a fun place for a night out in the heights! As you enter, there are swings and lots of outdoor areas to sit. My friend and I quickly grabbed a spot on a swing and a server came to take our drink order/ open a tab for us. Both my friend and I ordered Deep Eddy Lime w/ Club Soda and they were brought to us quickly. The prices were also reasonable for a bar in the heights. After the first drink, we moved to sit at the bar inside and were quickly helped by the bartenders. All staff were very friendly and hustled to get everyone their drinks. As the night went on, the bar got more and more crowded and it was a great atmosphere. The DJ played good music (and took requests) and kept everyone hyped. We would definitely go back! read more

Went today for the 7th annual Crawfish Kickoff festival with a group of friends. Bar is open to customers age 23+ only. Vibe: nice and relaxed place to hang out. Had many forms of seating - couches, tables and benches, and even a swing set. Was cooler today but had a good number of heaters spread throughout the patio area. Had a more covered "indoor" space as well. Even though it was busy, didn't see a bunch of people waiting for tables for long. Music (both live band and piped in) were pretty loud on the patio and at times interfered with conversation. Drinks: okay, but definitely nothing special. Pretty standard bar beverages - bottled beers and some margaritas that tasted more of the sour mix than any liquor. Food: had Southern Standard Catering boiling crawfish. Weren't particularly well seasoned. Only food regularly available is a food truck stationed in the back (el guajillo). Queso was not great, pretty bland and tasted like just melted yellow cheese. Guacamole was definitely fresh but lacked salt and other seasonings. Highlight of the food was the pork street tacos (5 for $12) which were spicy and well seasoned, with the included salsa verde adding an acidic balance to the tacos. Ordering and payment: can order at the bar or with waitresses walking around. Recommend starting a tab. Cashless payments only. Overall - a great place to spend a weekend afternoon hanging out or watching a game with a group of friends. The drinks and food definitely suffice but aren't the best in the heights. We used to visit you bar every Sunday, but they are no longer feel safe to be in your place since they were assaulted by another customer on the St. Patrick's Day this year as described below. While they seated at a table, my husband to went to a restroom. The perpetrator tried to take his seat. When my husband's friend informed him that the seat was taken, the perpetrator struck my husband's friend's head. The victim reported to the bouncer, who we consider as a security guard, ignored his claim and took no action. This assault is a crime and should have been taken seriously. You should have protected customer by escorting the criminals out of your premises and banned them from your place for life. At minimum, your bouncer should have advised the criminal for their unacceptable behaviors. The crime traumatized the victim for his life, and we demand your immediate response for some sort of compensation. read more

I love this place!! they have a run club ever Tuesday at 6:30 and you get a free drink after you run! it gets very very busy during the weekend or holidays and loud. The bartenders are great the ones i've met and the service is good. i haven't had a bad experience since i moved here last September. The ambiance is nice too with the swings and if you go on the week day the servers are spot on with checking on you and making sure your doing okay! the drinks aren't super expensive either which is nice as many other places in the heights are . Steak night is on Tuesdays as well and steak is pretty dang good for $25 would definitely recommend.!! read more

I normally am too overwhelmed by most bars and club like establishments but I took a chance and wanted to check out this three story bar I've been hearing about. I had a fairly good time. I was able to get two shots fairly quickly from the attentive bartender. I didn't have to sit around or wave my hands trying to get her attention. She came right up to me. She was polite unlike other ones I've encountered at these types of settings. The shots were quite tasty and I wish I could've had a couple more! With the cool lights all around, it makes for decent pictures. It was really busy on a Saturday night when we came. Parking was hard to find but they have a parking lot where my friends who joined us were able to find a space. I had fun playing basketball inside and playing ping pong. There were a lot more guys than girls here as I think a game of some sort was being shown on screens around. Gave it a sports bar feel almost. Overall I'm glad I took a visit here! read more

Not only is this kind of kneejerk thinking unprofessional, it's borderline offensive. Love this bar. They have great music, a lot of TVs with good shows, and amazing drinks. If you like sweet drinks. I highly recommend the "it's always sunny in Houston" it's great with a few pieces of watermelon. I also love their micheladas. They are great. No tomato and all the spice. The parking situation however, is a nightmare. I highly recommend carpooling or Uber. And let me tell you it gets PACKED. So if you want to avoid crowds, go early. I loved the vibe here!! I love how they promote and team up with independent business owners. The food truck for that day's food was simply amazing. Everything we ordered was finger licking good. There was another business owner there selling fresh fruit ice pops and they were refreshing and delicious. After a couple of drinks and having greasy (but heavenly) food, those icees were much needed. The drinks were the only thing I feel can use improvement. I like strong drinks and I ordered the drink with the most alcohol combinations that they had which was a Long Island Iced Tea, normally those are pretty strong but this one tasted like juice and I didn't even get a buzz. I came here specifically because I wanted a boomerang on the swings. It was an early Friday evening when we arrived... also very cold for Houston- about 35 degrees. We sat outside under the heaters, versus inside the bar. The location is cute and likely very lively in better weather. Our server was very cheery and we enjoyed her company. The location has a food truck on the side. They over salted everything. It was inedible. However, the drinks from the bar were amazing. Definitely try the sangria if you stop by! read more

Super lively bar with both indoor and spacious outdoor seating! Being your pups! My friends came here with two of our doggos to have drinks at the patio. There's a food truck available if you have munchies, and the place has water misting everywhere when it's super hot out. It's such a popular place that the parking lot and overload parking lot were full...took us awhile for us to wait for someone to leave so we could park! It's a popular spot! I had a whiskey and one of their specialty mangonadas they had that day. Loved the drinks and the candy garnishes on the frozen cocktail. McIntyre's is a good bar. The atmosphere and constant crowd always makes it an exciting place. The service and drinks are usually pretty good as well. Drinks are on the pricer side for that street or bars (3rd to Wicklow and Austin's). I think the only thing keeping this bar from being great is adding something to it that keeps the bar from being overcrowded. Maybe a mini beer bar on the other side or something. read more

Let me first add: This rating is not based on McIntyre's service nor establishment, BUT SOLELY BASED ON THEIR STEAK-NIGHT. This was possibly my worst Birthday dinner ever. I've had the great privilege to have had hundreds of steaks from all around the world. With that being said: The TWO steaks that I had tonight could perhaps be the worst two that I have ever had. I started off with a rib-eye (medium rare) and a fillet (medium), paired with the only 2 sides that they had left. When my "Ribeye" arrived, I wanted to immediately question what was plated & served to my dismay. I would have to say, My rib-eye was the thickness compared to a What-a-junior hamburger patty at What-A-Burger. I was in total shock, as I've seen my 7 year old brother cook better steaks on the stove...in a pan. Yes, I am comparing their steak to what could fall into any given pan on any given weekday. I made the walk of shame back to the hostess stand/table. After an instant apology, I was asked what I wanted. I then kindly asked to try their fillet (med-rare). After 18 mins, i started to worry because I was still dying of hunger and started to look like a marathon runner from China. So, as soon as my fillet was served to me, I began to pinch myself because this could have only been a true nightmare. MAYBE I SHOULD HAVE TRIED BIRTHDAY CRAWFISH, INSTEAD OF STEAK. My fillet was soooo extremely dry on the outside. It seemed as if it was thrown on the grill frozen...... and grilled long enough to thaw out the frozen center, but also dry out the outside looking like a dried-up cracked Mojave desert. I also believe they plate these things on the thinnest plates ever. After just a couple gentle cuts, I found myself cutting into the table already. My Tuesday-night advice and wrap-up is to suggest ANY OTHER FOOD OPTION, other than "Steak Night" at McIntyre's. If you choose to go down this path in your life, BE AWARE....BE FULLY AWARE. *This review was written the most constructive way possible read more

As many of you probably do, I used Waze to get me here, and it led me to the backside of the bar (parking is for employees only, so make sure you park in the right lot). I liked the openness of the layout - the patio feeds into the bar and there were lots of tables. They have "swings", but it's more for looks than anything because it's not meant for swinging and doesn't look very comfortable (not to mention, if you're with company, it's not very cozy and the table is not close enough for you to put your drink down in between sips). The staff was helpful and the drink selection was very good. We didn't try the food that was cooking behind us, but it smelled good. It's a good spot for a nice day, but I don't know what it'd be like in the midst of summer. read more

I went during their steak night Tuesday, and it's a really chill place to be. They have cute colorful seatings and swings! I think that was a cute touch! Also, this place is ONLY 23 yrs old and above. They do check IDs. Food: 4/5 for $18 steak night, I really like how juicy the steak was and it comes with 2 sides of Mac n cheese and string beans. It was pretty good! Service: I can't really rate this part, since you order at the bar and they'll give you a ticket to give to the stand where they cook.
