I was deeply disappointed and would never recommend this place. my biggest concern is the overall upkeep. When i went it was a mess, like a teenager's bedroom, things on the floor, the bathroom wasn't clean at all. you think they would be more mindful of mess and cleanliness given the legitimate fears over viral infections, but i guess not. I don't really worry about catching an infection cause i kept my mask on, but i just don't like to be in dirty, messy places. Same reason I can't eat in a Chipotle, too many food and drink spills and stains, food on the floor, mess in the bathroom, gets me down, kills the vibe. Also, they screwed up our food and drink order which I just chalk to the staff not caring much. So overall it was just a bad experience. It didn't seem like the staff wanted to be there at all really, which I understand, but I wish they would fake it a bit and try to be happy so it wasn't so depressing being down in the basement there. read more

Very cool concept, fun space, great location, good drinks, but staff seem to still be figuring out how to manage the overall experience. SPIN is so much fun! There is an immediate whimsical vibe created by ping pong and the ping pong balls everywhere. It's like you're walking into this century's bowling alley. Families galore but also attention payed to the drink menu and space that millennials will want to visit. SPIN is a huge downstairs bar space with tons of ping pong tables and Instagram worthy backdrops. There is some limited bar seating but clearly the focus is on playing table tennis. I met my wife and a friend with the hopes we could reserve a table after grabbing some drinks. We were comfortable with the 1.5 hour wait for a table and slipped into conversation and sipping on cocktails. Cocktails were really exceptional and typically priced ($12). There was a good mix of blended scotch and mezcal on the menu indicative of some unique concoctions. Unfortunately, the staff seem to still be figuring things out. Because we weren't playing ping pong while we waited for a table, we ended up in a no man's land of service. And, despite staff assuring us we would be tracked down when a table was ready, we were never contacted. Because the space is underground, cell service is limited which inhibits text notifications. We'll be back. I have no reason to believe the staff won't figure out managing the experience, but for now there are some clear growing pains. A millenial's dream come true. Came here a few times for happy hour and I'll be back for sure. The happy hour menu has a good balance of option between drinks and food. My suggestion will always be that delicious hop pop chicken. The dipping sauce is divine and with the happy hour price, the portion gives you one hell of a bang for buck. The order of fries is the perfect side dish because that garlic aioli keeps you coming back for more and more. Looking for something heftier? The sliders are delicious, they definitely don't skimp on the bacon and there's a sweet sauce on the bun. As far as pricing goes for ping pong, I believe it's $9/hour per person. I've been to Spin Only once, and the one time I went I really loved the atmosphere and decor of the place. I went for a silent disco party hosted by a friend of mine and the place was packed. Like everyone else, I love the tub filled with ping pong balls and the neon sign above it. I love that the bar is centrally located and there are a ton of seating. This is a really cool space to come and hang out with friends on a Friday night after work or on a Saturday if you're bored. The bathrooms were exceptionally clean (I pay close attention to the maintenance of bathrooms) and the staff were friendly and accommodating. I can't wait to go back! read more

Ping pong had always been that old pastime in someones dingy basement but this place definitely recreated those reminiscent times into a fun activity with friends and ofc, awesome drinks and food. The table is $9 per person for an hour and we waited for 45 min on sat evening which wasnt bad for prime weekend time, esp with good cocktails! The best part is that you can ping pong without having to pick up the balls as they have designated people to pick up them up! I haven't had so much fun at a bar in awhile. This place is such a fun bar to visit. Very different from a lot of the old traditional style venues in the area. A very young crowd. The cocktails we ordered were unique that tasted great and were a fair price. We stuck with mostly cider and beers but the real treat was getting a ping pong table. So much fun to just play and not worry about collecting the stray balls. The servers come to the tables to take food and drink orders. It was a fun place to visit and if you're looking for an alternative to the older, more formal, political bars in DC this is your place. read more

I stumbled into this place purely by accident a few weeks ago and have been in love with it ever since. Great setup, great music and the food is amazing. The Chef, who is an accomplished painter as well, actually came out and introduced himself and told us about some of the things they're working on. Given the pandemic, we went in a small group and had a great time. I have to think that an even larger crowd would be more so. The highlight has to be the $11 old fashion. The ambiance here is great, you can tell they put some effort into making this a neat place to hang out. Drink prices are average to a little below average ($10-$13 for most, but some for under $10). The only real gripe I have is that they are terribly inefficient with scheduling tables. It took over an hour and a half to get a spot (admittedly on a Saturday night), while many of their tables went 15-30 minutes without anyone using them because they were waiting for someone who had probably already left to come back for their spot in line. They need to do like restaurants do: after 5 minutes, that table is going to the next person in line, and if you show up late, you get the next open one, whenever that is. If you're going to go when it's busy, do note that they take reservations online--highly suggested you use that option! read more

Tonight was my first time at spin DC and I will not be back. I did not care for the price point or the limited menu options! I paid $17 for 1 drink at the bar then I make my way to the front so that I can reserve two tables for ping-pong (we had a party of 4) she says she has two tables available then she walks me over to our tables after we're done playing for all of 15 minutes we each had to pay $9 ($38 total) granted when you get a table its for an hour but we didn't want to play for an hour. Also, I didn't know that there was a cost associated with ping-pong until we were done playing which would not have been an issue if it was mentioned to me while reserving the tables. Very fun and both adult and kid friendly. The location is not ideal, so there's that but once you get over heading downtown you won't regret it. Endless balls during your play so there's no chasing around and wasting time. This is a great place take your older-ish kids (like 7 & up) for family fun and they have cocktails and food too. The apps are great during play. We didn't eat a full meal during our visit so I can't comment on the main menu. We brought visiting family here and had a great night. It might even be a great spot for a kids birthday during the day and then the parents birthday later that night. Definitely check it out whether you are a tourist or local. FUN. That explains how my experience went! I went with my wife and her family on a Saturday night looking for something new. Man did this place knock our socks off. When we started play ping pong everyone was having so much fun it was such a unique experience and it didnt break the bank either. The parking was a bit annoying to find but it is DC. The ping pong tables have baskets full of ping pong balls beside it so you dont have to chase the balls down when it leaves the table. Started in New York, Spin has taken up residence in DC, and yeah I'm a fan. Furlough freaking weekend and I decided to break the ice and use my Spin "gift card" courtesy of the manager Connor, to drop in for a "Spin" or rather a few rounds of playing Ping Pong. This place is amazing; there's this social club recreation vibe with energy abound... luv it! Spacious enough for private parties, wine & dine, or just staking tables for the next ping pong challenge or game competition. Props, pictures, and merchandise align the walls for admirers and buyers. An ole fashioned tub filled with - you guessed it- orange ping pong balls and lots of them and you can get in the tub and have a Kodak moment bathing in "balls." This must be a Spin tradition. I think this might just be one of my favorite spots in town. The staff was courteous, the bar food really was good (had the fried chicken sandwich which for some reason, I'm guessing the batter, tasted just lile calamari). Last but not least, yes you guess it, Ping Pong! No longer one has to chase a ball all over an establishment asking other customers if you can move pass them to pick up the ball, at Spin they provide you with two buckets full of balls and they have people that walk around collecting balls from the floor. I am only giving this place 4 stars because we had to wait 40 mins for a table and that's with a reservation. Who knows I may end up giving it 5 stars in the future as I am definitely planning on going there again. read more

We decided to have our annual company holiday party at SPIN D.C. this year and it was not a mistake! This is a great spot to grab a drink, a bite to eat, and play some ping pong. Even though our party was during their soft opening (which attracted a pretty decent crowd) they treated us as if we were the only ones in the place. The waitstaff was very attentive and provided excellent service. They were always around when we needed something, but didn't unnecessarily hover. The food was not just typical bar food (not sure if this is how the normal menu is or how it is for booked parties), but it was delicious. We were served hors d'oeuvres as well as a 3 course meal that included dessert. Some of the ping pong pros even played a few rounds of pong with us! We are so thankful for the amazing party! read more
