Cute exterior nice, quaint and relaxing.

I discovered this cute, small, independent, coffee shop in the Castro District that sits quietly on 19th street and Castro for the first time. Truthfully I have never walked past 18th street before so this was a little adventure for me! I discovered this place when I randomly did a Too Good to Go App pickup of any random left over food end of day which is sold at a discount on the app. It will be a mystery bag, so never know what you are going to get. I was impressed with my pickup and enjoyed the variety of pastries. I like this little neighborhood hidden gem. It's a nice place to sit and hang out and enjoy the local art on walls. If I ever need a bagel or pastry, I'll walk further out there and enjoy the not hurried or busy atmosphere.

the staff were friendly and the ambiance gave off a traditional authentic experience. it was really hot in there though so I sat outside. I got the iced coffee with oat milk and it was decent--the coffee was slightly acidic for me but not that much

Pumpkin spice latte! Tasted good after a bike ride around the city, I was just spinning through for a weekend. I loved the layout of the friendly store with a lot of great pastries and coffees, this is the type of place I would live at if I lived around here. Great service and nice people.

Spikes Coffee nailed my coffee and peanut butter protein bar like a gold medalist volleyball player securing a match point! After traveling for two days straight to finally arrive in San Fran, Spikes was my refuge. Open early, hot coffee, friendly people, chill vibes, good music, and convenient location. There are a couple small tables inside to have a date or chat with a friend with more seating outside.

    Great Service Great Spot

"Brewed Like a Power Chord: My Visit to Spikes" Walking into Spikes felt like strumming an open E--warm, full-bodied, and instantly satisfying. From the moment the door swung open with a little jangle (like the intro of a jangly Rickenbacker tune), I knew I was plugged into something special. The espresso? That was the lead solo. Smooth, sharp, and cut through the morning haze like a Strat through a Marshall stack. It had that perfect crema sustain, like the sweet overdrive of a tube amp pushed just right. Every sip felt like a well-bent note--meant to linger and stir something deep. I went with a cappuccino for the second round, which landed like a jazzy chord voicing--complex, creamy, and just the right amount of foam feedback. The barista, clearly the Hendrix of the La Marzocco, dialed in the shot with precision. Watching them work was like watching someone fingerpick a nylon-string with total finesse--graceful, intentional, and in the pocket. The vibe of the place? Think vintage Telecaster meets lo-fi vinyl shop. Woodgrain tables, amps repurposed as side tables, and album covers hanging like platinum records. Background music was a steady rhythm section of indie, blues, and classic rock--no autoplay nonsense here. Just well-curated tone. Service? On tempo, with no missed notes. The crew was in sync, working in harmony like a tight trio on stage--nodding, smiling, and knowing their gear inside out. If you're looking for a café that hits like a killer chord progression and leaves you buzzing like a fresh set of Ernie Balls, Spikes is your next gig. It's not just coffee--it's a jam session for your taste buds.

Stopped by for a late afternoon drink and was pleasantly surprised by the number and variety of looseleaf teas that Spike's carries. I always love it when coffee shops carry a serious variety of teas. Since it was a hot day, I got an iced oolong tea and a chocolate donut. Service was friendly and efficient. Prices are very fair. The oolong tea was so refreshing and I like that they didn't put too much ice. The donut was just okay (didn't taste very fresh). Don't think there's technically a public restroom, but the employees were so nice and let me to use the employee restroom in the back. Love their bulldog logo too! Will be back.

Super friendly staff, seems like a local favorite. The baristas are knowledgeable and open to you asking questions or making custom drinks. Has outdoor seating so fun to just sit outside and people watch.

I came here for some coffee while around Castro. It's a no-frills, old-school place where the people were pretty nice and took the time to explain how their menu works. I ordered a cappuccino, which was pretty strong and unsweetened. I'd come here again for a traditional espresso drink or to try one of their more unique offerings.

Instantly welcomed in this quaint little home to the best espresso in Castro. I got a customized drink order in under three minutes, home style hospitality on my first step into the door, and a comfy little bench to get some writing done. Make this place your regular sit & sip!

The cosiest spot to have tea on a rainy day! My friend and I don't drink coffee so we were excited to find a place with so many tea varietals. We got some advice from the server and tried to lovely loose leaf teas - I enjoyed my peach ginger black tea though it didn't have as much ginger flavor. We had nice mugfuls while people watching by the window. Seems like a sweet neighborhood shop that I hope stays open for a long time to come! They also have pastries, coffee drinks, and other snacks.

Hey.. isn't this a coffeehouse!??? lol So I went for the Mocha and a blueberry scone. The Mocha was on point but I have to say the scone had a remarkable moist and almost airy texture with plenty of blueberries. 5/5 on the scone, 4.5/5 on the mocha. The servers were all friendly and seemed to enjoy being here as much as I was! I would love to come back again anytime I am nearby, especially midweek when there aren't any lines!

Sometimes you cannot tell the difference from Spring to Summer weather in San Francisco. There is no consistency when the sun will come out. When the sun comes out and Karl the Fog is on vacation people come out and look for something delicious and cold. There is one place you can enjoy a refreshing drink like matcha no matter the weather. It's located on Market street and Noe and it's called Oishii Matcha. On a sunny Market street stroll in San Francisco Don Juan de la Matcha landed at Oishii Matcha. Inside I scrolled and ordered using the kiosk. Since it was hot with the sun was out in the city I got the purple yam the Ube ice cream not on a cone but on a croffle ( part flakey croissant and waffle in SF). The Ube ice cream was not too sweet and was tasty and the croffle was soft and a bit crispy. I then had to wash it down with a refreshing Matcha Mango Latte with foam. The matcha was delicious and hit the spot . Now the only thing to consider next time is which nearby park spot I should hit to enjoy a Matcha. Will it be Dolores Park or Duboce Park or Noe & Beaver Community Garden ?( Questions in my Mind). Come get the real matcha and not the "phony"go to Oishii Matcha because it is organic ceremonial "only" so let's have a tea "ceremony" with Don Juan de La Matcha giving the true matcha "testimony" Fake matcha should be "unlawful" it is tasteless and the flavor is very "awful " at Oishii Matcha you can get the purple Ube ice cream on a "croffle" it's a cross between a flakey croissant and a "waffle"

Dozens of paper thin layers stacked with the kind of patience most people reserve for things that actually matter.
