Linguine Nere con Gamberi, Calamari e Pomodoro
    Andrea H.

Small intimate Italian restaurant on the Upper West Side. Located on 84th just off of Columbus. Reservations are a must since there are only 10 tables and they have a lot of regulars from the neighborhood. Service was genuine, attentive and welcoming. Food was amazing. So much attention to detail Everything ordered was excellent and cooked to order. Branzino - Light and tender white fish cooked in a lemon caper sauce and served with potatoes and broccoli. Linguine Nere Con Gamberi Calamari - Squid ink linguine cooked al dente with shrimp, squid & tomato. This dish was a stand I highly recommend this hidden gem. Perfect for a small family dinner or a nice date night. You won't be sorry.

I've been to other cult of personality restaurants in the city like Kabab Cafe or Dough Vale. Oftentimes an exceptionally sociable proprietor detracts from the food, but thankfully Spiga is the exception that proves the rule, churning out some of the better pastas in upper Manhattan. We shared the fusilli with pesto and burrata and gnocchi with a light tomato sauce and fresh mozzarella. Both were quite satisfying without being overly heavy, although the gnocchi was the preferred of the two - the fresh mozzarella provided great textural contrast, and the portioning was not too stingy. The rustic set-up is quite inviting, and there's a nice atmosphere created from how the restaurant gradually spills onto the sidewalk. I would come back.

    Chicken Parm

I ate here with some friends Friday night. The food and service was excellent. I got the Chicken Parm and it was one of the best I've ever had. Note: the place is quite small, so might not be great if that bothers you, but I was fine. Outdoor space will be open soon. Make a reservation.

Delicious authentic Italian cuisine in a tiny (seriously, like 3 or so tables inside and a handful outdoors) homelike setting. My friend kept asking for Americanized dishes like chicken fettuccine and our server said his Uncle the chef would scoff at such menu suggestions. So cute. It wasn't until we arrived at the restaurant after deciding on it base on Yelp reviews that I realized it was already on my list. My daughter and I had been to the wine bar across the street and were admiring how quaint was Spiga was and wondering if we should have chosen to go there instead. It made us nostalgic for our recent trip to Florence. The food was exquisite. The serving sizes were perfect. The pasta was fresh, a perfect al dente, the flavors nuanced and balanced and pleasantly palatable. Our server was friendly, engaging, knowledgeable and proud about the food and the establishment. I look forward to my next opportunity to return.

This was our second time dining at Spiga, and everything about it was just as incredible as the first. I would definitely recommend calling for a reservation, as there are only ~10 tables inside. The space was warm and inviting during these chilly winter months, and service was friendly and quick. They had a great selection of wine to choose from, although my partner had a peroni instead. To start, their bread with olive oil was a perfect bite. We shared the Caprese di Buffala as an appetizer, and even though tomatoes aren't in season, they were juicy and sweet paired with the creamy mozz. For my dinner, I had the fusilli with pesto, sundried tomatoes, burrata and pistachios. In my opinion, this is the most perfect pasta I've ever had! The pesto was so flavorful, the pistachios added a perfect crunch, and the homemade pasta was outstanding. My partner had the gnocchi in a tomato sauce, which he quickly devoured. The dessert menu was full of good options, but he picked the tartufo. Chocolaty, creamy, and delicious! We will definitely return next time we're near the Upper West Side!

A tiny little restaurant with big flavors from my wonderful purée of cauliflower soup to a carpaccio with just the right add ons arugula Parmesan and olive oil to an epic lasagna, that my partner said was the closest in taste to her favorite which she had in Italy !! My branzino a special that evening was so fresh and tasty it truly was special, a very attentive host making sure you're enjoying and relaxed service in quaint surroundings makes for a perfect evening Bravo

Went here to celebrate a friend's birthday at her request. What a charming and tiny place! The food is authentic and the waitstaff makes you feel as if you are in their own home. While the Caesar salad wasn't the greatest, the rest of the food was very good. Reservations are highly recommended as walk ins will surely have to wait for this highly coveted neighborhood spot. Salute!

We stopped by Spiga for dinner Friday night, note to self: definitely get a reservation next time! Thankfully we arrived early enough before the crowd and was able to grab a table (with exception that manager said we had to leave by 1.5 hours). We took a chance, we actually ended up closer to 2 hrs but luckily they didn't say anything. There are not many table, only all out on the street. Indoors there are only 3 tables, so very small. We ordered the meatballs and artichoke for apps, while I generally love meatballs and this was a very filling hardy meatball, it was on the salty side. The artichoke salad was also very fresh. For mains we shared the paccheri alla Norma, which hubby loved. He said the pasta consistency was spot on! The black ink pasta with shrimp and calamari, flavor was ok. Liked the shrimp but calamari was nothing to rave about. And the chicken parm which I thought I would immediately love. However it was also rather salty. Either I seriously cook with no salt flavor or I am really sensitive to salt. The side dish of broccoli rabe can be skipped. Overall service was excellent, authentic with homemade pastas.

Super cute, super quality authentic Italian "hole in the wall." They recently changed ownership and the food is absolutely ELITE. The pesto fusilli, fettuccine bolognese, and steak were the highlights for us. Most of their pastas / flour are imported from Italy. I would also not read into the "To Go" too much - eating there in person is the optimal experience without a doubt. Spiga has become our new go-to for Italian on the west side. Major shoutout!!

Delightful little Italian place! There's not much seating but we managed to snag a table. I ordered an aperol spritz and paccheri alla norma, which was rigatoni with eggplant, tomato, and aged ricotta. The pasta was very filling and had the perfect al dente texture. We also got a fennel salad for the table, which was very refreshing. It was honestly a perfect summer night meal.

We called Olivia after speaking with many caterers about about approach, cuisine and budget, and we were honestly getting a bit defeated. My first conversation with Olivia was so incredibly refreshing in that I told her we are trying to decide between tacos or barbeque and she responded with a very effortless, "why choose?". This immediately put me at ease as we started to brainstorm together. All other caterers were now subpar. She crafted a beautiful menu for us that included mini (single-bite) sized tacos as part of the hors d'oeuvres and an upscale barbeque with hometown roots for the entree. Our guests have not stopped RAVING about our food (strong accolades for the BBQ still rolling in from our Texas and Tennessee-native guests, so you know it was great!). We received a truly personalized experience with Olivia. She even stepped in to work with us directly when we had questions and get saleswoman was unavailable! So this brings me to this...how did I not discover Jason's Kitchen until recently? Where has this Chef been and why has he not blown up bigger than he has?!?! Jason is actually a classmate of mine from my hometown in New Jersey. I've followed him lightly on social media platforms through his culinary journey from birth of his unfathomable determination and skill to break out on his own - a self taught Chef running a full service catering company. Encompassing Private and Personal dining experiences in the luxury of your private home or event space, Chef Jason brings not only his complete professionalism, but also a mind blowing culinary exploration of perfectly balanced ingredients that not only touch each of your five senses, but envokes a feeling of complete bliss. Each dish is thought out with culinary precision and executed beautifully. You can taste each ingredient as it rolls around your mouth and tongue. Balanced with the simplicity of what brought this dish to concept. This culinary journey his menu takes you on is unreal. I have never worked for or with a more talented Chef, who's personal energy is calm and humble, and confident not cocky. We had a dinner party to celebrate a birthday and a divorce with 9 close friends. Chef Jason, his Sous Chef June, and our lovely servers Karl and Cara really made this evening special. Everything flowed seamlessly. Any anxiety I had walked out the door as soon as this team went to work. It was a quiet calm and focused energy. They also didn't mind me being in the kitchen watching and tasting and asking a million questions. I can not recommend enough Jason's Kitchen for your next event. Exceptional! My now-husband and I were searching for chefs to cater our small, intimate wedding of 13 people in our home. We found Jason on Yelp and from his first friendly email and sample menu, we knew it was a perfect fit. Thank you, Yelp! It is not hyperbole when I tell you that Jason's Kitchen is some of the best food you will ever eat. Jason and June are phenomenal chefs; to eat their Michelin Star-worthy food in your own home feels like a decadent privilege reserved for royalty. A few of our favorite dishes were the yellowtail crudo (to die for), tuna tartare (floated up to heaven), mini french onion soup bites (became reincarnated), burrata salad (was reborn), paella (lived a full other life), and rack of lamb with pesto sauce (found enlightenment). They worked with attentiveness, diligence, and grace, but what was most impressive was the down-to-earth, calm, and good-natured attitude throughout the night. The spectacular food AND their presence was truly an amazing addition to our day. Special shout-out to Jason for being a fellow Petty fan. The server, Marybeth, and the bartender, Anthony, carried the same good-natured, relaxed, and kind presence. Marybeth was gracious and friendly, and I swear my kitchen was cleaner at the end of the night than before. I only had a vacuum and small dustpan and brush on-hand and Marybeth used that little brush to clean everything because she didn't want to disturb us with too much noise with the vacuum. The small things! Anthony prepared copious amounts of cocktails with a smile and a good laugh throughout the day and evening. The drinks were as smooth as his pours and I am fairly certain every family member personally bonded with him in a way that I wouldn't be surprised if he is invited to another family wedding. Or a golf match. Overall, my husband and I agree that Jason's Kitchen was the best decision we made on that day, as well as deciding to spend our lives together. I'm now scheming other events we can have just to work with Jason's Kitchen again. 1 month wedding anniversary? And then again for our 2 months? Jason, we'll be in touch. In all seriousness, I would like to extend the most heartfelt thank you to this team. We are beyond grateful for your help to make our day the most special. From the first time I got in touch with her, Chef Aless was always prompt with her responses - as it was my first time ever doing anything like this, she helped curate a menu for my husband and I based on our likes/dislikes. I had also gone back to her to switch up a couple items, which she had no problem with either - really appreciate the flexibility! On the day of, she came by a bit early (which was a non-issue for us considering we were idling by at home), and was very efficient as soon as she stepped in - we were served some delicious hors d'oeuvres (fig and brie crisps were divine!), an appetizer (truffle burrata and arugula, with a delicious pomegranate molasses dressing), second course (crab cakes with mango slaw, always a favorite in my book), main course (a perfectly medium rare Pat LaFrieda steak), some sides (a decadent sauce for the steak, creamed spinach and potatoes lyonnaise; if you coudln't tell, we wanted to replicate the NYC steakhouse experience), and lastly, chocolate mousse for dessert (needless to say, it was amazing). And best of all, she left the kitchen spotless, which was much appreciated. I also want to note that it's important to clarify what you're looking for when hiring a private chef, especially as a first timer (like me) - I thought Chef Aless was going to cook everything from start to finish at our apartment, however she actually came by with everything mostly prepared, and left the finishing touches for last.
