As a 23 year resident of New Mexico and a pretty well-travelled dude, in this state, anyway, I was downright shocked to find Spicy Bite. I've hiked Mt. Taylor three times and somewhat frequently find myself near Grants, and I gotta admit, I always dread the eatin' options out there. Like the very best of Enchanted experiences, a visit to Spicy Bite provides the basics of Unforgettable, and there's nothing particularly remarkable about the restaurant. Here's why you'll keep coming back: + Great story. According to the guy I spoke with at the register, the owner was a lifelong trucker who, just a year or so back, decided to launch an Indian joint... on Route 66. In Milan. Because that makes sense, yeah? He figures there must be other truckers who miss home-cooked food like this. + Word gets out, and all of a sudden they're getting calls from truckers on both coasts and deep inside middle America: "Just left St. Louis, all I can think about is your food. See you in two days." + Randomly, in January, the place lands the 84th spot on Yelp's Top 100 Places to eat in 2019. Complete shock and high fives all around. + Which explains why the vast majority of diners are male and generally of eastern descent, providing a legit seal of approval on the food. The buffet, which we all devoured, offered plenty of vegetarian fare, delicate but gutsy spice profiles (this is Milan, after all), and easily the best butter chicken I've ever enjoyed three helpings of. They were super accommodating with our picky little kiddo -- cooking up two yummy samosas on the fly -- and in general, I really enjoyed the staff. Don't be put off by the crowd of 18 wheelers surrounding it, or the back lot it sits on, or it's nondescript slightly shabby appearance. The Indian patrons lined up at the window to order (Covid has the door padlocked) should remove any doubts that the food is worthy. Best food in Milan/Grants. We usually get food to go. Sometimes we have troubles with language barrier but that doesn't bother me I think if you lived in a different country with a different language you would be more understanding. We always get the garlic naan always good our staples are coconut curry shrimp and my husband loves the curry chicken. We have had a few other items all good. Butter chicken is awesome and the samosas are usually spot on, just got them once when the dough wasn't flaky but the dipping sauces are choice! The owner was very nice and accommodating the first and only time we dined in. My toddler knocked over my chai tea and he got me a new one free of charge. read more

I'm a truck driver and try to stop once every 4 days. I love their spicy curry chicken,they also have mild. And if you like shrimp I suggest you try the buttered shrimp and their naan with garlic is delicious. The people are friendly and you can also call in your order. Oh my gosh, what a gem! After driving a full day on route from Dallas to Flagstaff, we used Yelp to find a restaurant in or near Grants, NM. This Indian restaurant came up as a five-star very affordable option. Located in Milan just minutes past Grants, it totally exceeded our expectations. We ordered the Korma for just $10.00. It was absolutely fresh and delicious and we are taking enough home for another meal. The garlic naan was also wonderful. The staff is very friendly; they should be very proud of this restaurant that opened in 2017. read more

We've stopped here 3 times so far. Always delicious. Our go to is chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, black lentils and garlic naan. There hasn't been any dine in since we've been there so we get it to go and eat in the park. Recommend that you call it in at least 30 minutes before you get there. read more

What a find! We needed to find food before arriving at our hotel and when we saw the reviews of Spicy Bite we had to give a try. So glad! Called from the road to place a pick-up order and when we got there, it was packed. Waited for a while, but not too long, and was greeted by the regulars who were all truckers (a good sign!). Don't let the location scare you off! Hubby and I stopped at the truck stop across the road for a break and decided to try this place out since we've been eating truck stop food and microwave dinners for a while on the road. Was not disappointed! Huge portions with tons of flavor, very clean place, and great service. I had navratan korma(veggies in cashew cream sauce), hubby had lamb tikka masala and we split a big basket of garlic naan. I even had plenty for leftovers! This is a nice surprise along i40! read more

Hands down the best place in Grants! They are friendly and caring! They always make sure we are content when we leave! I crave this place all the time! This little gem hidden behind tractor trailers from the neighboring truck stop is worth the search! The waiter gave excellent recommendations and the food was authentic and delicious!! The Dahl we ordered was creamy and rich, served with perfectly cooked rice and warm, savory garlic naan. We received more food than we expected or could even eat. Very reasonably priced. Stopped here late (9p) while on a road trip, was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of this food! I have eaten some of the best Indian food in the world (Delhi, Rajasthan, Srinagar, Maharashtra, London, Chicago and Amsterdam), and this was delicious. Wait staff was generous and friendly, spice levels are tailor made, and received complimentary kheer at the end. White people: don't be turned off by the ambiance!! You will not regret stopping. Spicy Bites is a culinary Oasis in a highway of nondescript travel stops and fast food merchants. I have to disclose I am a vegetarian but the meat dishes look and their aroma is unmistakable of the same quality. The dishes are plainly marked for the unfamiliar trekker on Interstate 40 Saag is simple spinach and dal curry is labeled lentil beans. But they are delicious no matter what you call them! It's hard to mess up an Indian buffet but it's also hard to do one well. This place does the latter. I'm actually a little bummed out by that. One of the charms of dining at an Indian buffet is the explosive diarrhea you normally get afterwards. It's like a bonus 10 pound weight loss just for eating. So, after finishing my excellent meal, I waited about an hour and then walked across the street to the truck stop. I seat belted myself to the porcelain throne and awaited the aftershocks. Stopped by here on our way back home to AZ based on previous yelp reviews and I'm so glad we did. The food is amazing! We did the buffet at $12 a person, so worth it. The service was very good also, very attentive. The owner even came by our table with a basket of warm naan for us so we didn't have to get back up to the buffet line. My husband has been driving from Lubbock TX to Flagstaff AZ twice a week for two years and subsisting on fast food. Spicy Bite is a welcome to the Grants and Milan area. We ordered take out of Butter Chicken, Lamb with peppers, and Coconut Shrimp, and the Garlic Naan. The order was waiting for me when I picked it up 20 min later. The resturant was spotless clean. Each order came with rice. What a great tasty meal. Perfect balance of spices for each dish.
