Good restaurant that needs a bit updating. Place feels like it's been there forever and it looks it with lots of house plants and weird blue and purple touches. Plenty of room and the waitress is super nice and friendly. Food is good and will fill you up. I wish the tostadas we ordered would have come with the traditional lettuce and tomato but it was only the meat with beans. Green chili was excellent and homemade. I want to give this place a glowing review because the ladies there are so nice. But my first impression was a bathroom with no soap and paper towels, which I told the waitress about but she didn't seem to address. My husband described his French toast and egg combo as below average (cold French toast/syrup, just ok scrambled eggs). I had the Ronan's bowl which is a deal at $5. They use American cheese on everything (yuk) but replaced mine with mozzarella when I asked. Everything is disposable so I guess that is reassuring that serving utensils are clean but I felt uncomfortable with all the single use plastics that we were given that we didn't need. I hope they can clean a few things up. They seem like nice people but we won't go back any time soon. read more

Well I was expecting more. The flutas was a rolled taco with a corn shells instead of the flour like a traditional one. The place is clean. The service was fast because we were the only ones in the place at 12:30pm. Unfortunately the food is bland for Mexican food. Well I'm not impressed with everything but maybe you might find it good. But the service was great and the food excellent. We just stopped for a quick lunch, so didn't try much. But the taco sampler was delicious, especially the birria taco. We've been to Rosie's twice since it's opening. Extremely thankful that this family opened a restaurant that is open on the weekends in Grants! That may sound odd but if you live in Grants, you know, folks can close on the weekends. What we loved(non-food): the staff was so friendly and welcoming, restaurant was clean and brightly decorated, exciting views of the trains coming through which our 1.5 year old loved, high chairs available (although we just used a bench seat) Food: Visit 1- we tried the quesadilla with chicken, chicken taquitos, rice and beans, French fries and chips and salsa... the salsa wasn't my favorite but I couldn't tell what it needed in regard to change... food was a little bland flavored so I'd normally rely on the salsa but I just didn't love it. French fries were approved by our daughter lol... they were tasty! Visit 2- we tried carne asada tacos and ground beef tacos both with sides of rice/beans and chips and guacamole to start... we loved it all! Got their green chili on the side and it was delicious (they ask if you want green or red but red was super hot that day). They have a separate room if you have a big party. I was able to navigate the menu easily to ensure I could manage gluten free. We will definitely go back! Even though I think there is opportunity to continue to expand their menu and salsa choice, I'm giving a 5 because the food is good, the staff is friendly, location clean and the hours are great for a town that needs weekend options! Her authentic recipe was handed down from her mother. We chose Birria tacos at her daughter's suggestion. Rosie also offers Carne Asada and others. The order came with a rich and flavorful dipping broth fo r the grilled tender tortillas stuffed full of juicy meat, crispy onions, fresh tomatoes, fragrant cilantro and served with a tasty Crema. We ordered the street corn to share in the great crema. After finishing our meal we agreed it was the best tacos we have ever eaten! What a find! My husband and I were passing through and are so pleased that we stopped here. First the food. What can I say, delicious! I had menudo which was a little creamy and much thicker than I've had before and I loved it! The menudo was hearty and very filling. As a matter of fact, I would recommend ordering the 20 ounce serving, I couldn't even finish mine. My husband had the huevos ranchero with red sauce and he says "they were out of this world!" The coffee was on spot and they even have a special brewed percolated upon request. The service was exceptional and yes, I mean exceptional. I've been all over the world and to all kinds of cafe's, 5 star restaurants, taco stands, just everything; I mean it when I say exceptional. They were all attentive, friendly, personal, and happy. It's nice to go to a place where the people are genuinely happy. It's family run and it shows, they even had what I would assume was a lovely grandchild aged about 10 going from table to table as new guests arrived greeting them and asking what they wanted to drink. The ambiance is pleasant. I'd say it leans toward a roomy, stress-free mom and pop cafe. There are little doo-dads hanging on the wall and my gf and I could hear the waitresses singing to the classic country in the kitchen. It is a little chilly inside so if you get cold easily like me there are comfortable booths by the large windows to soak in the sun. A fantastic addition to trying Rosie's out for the first time was our bill. A good quality meal at a low price!? Our jaws dropped to the floor. Wow! What a find. My brother and I were traveling across New Mexico and looking for breakfast. He was driving so I checked to see what was close. Rosie's was it. We pulled in and recognized that it didn't look very appealing from the outside. At first we thought it might even be closed but a door was open and there was an open sign so we wandered in. We were greeted promptly and told to sit anywhere. My brother ran off to find a bathroom while Jackie, our server, chatted with me. Her mom was Rosie, the owner, and her brother, Roy, was the cook. I love family run places and Jackie made us feel like we were right at home. We ordered the Jackie Special. It was amazing! Jackie told us it was her mother's red sauce and that it was "Hell Hot". It was very spicy but very, very good. The sauce was poured over stacked cheese enchiladas and then topped with two eggs. I ordered hard basted eggs and she didn't know what they were. I explained how to baste an egg and she told her brother and he made them perfectly on the first try. Excellent! The meal came with either papas or hash browns and we opted for the papas. I'm so glad we did. They were rather thinly sliced potatoes that looked and tasted almost like potato chips. They were perfectly crisp and wonderfully seasoned. So good. Refried beans completed the plate. We ordered a side of bacon which was a good extra touch. It was an awesome breakfast. Roy thanked me for introducing him to basted eggs and Jackie was an amazing server. I loved their enthusiasm and energy. I'm calculating how many miles I'd put on the Jeep if I drove from Tucson to Grants a couple times a week to have breakfast. I'm thinking it might be worth it. Service was wonderful. Restaurant sparkled with cleanliness. Everyone was so friendly at this family owned restaurant. I had heuvos ranchero and it was delicious. This is an authentic Mexican restaurant using only family recipes. The entire family works there. My husband loved the green sauce and was eating it with a spoon! I absolutely recommend this restaurant. It is also the only one opened in this town on the weekend. Mom is the chef, daughter is really personable and friendly, is proud of her mom's all-scratch cooking and it's easy to see why. Homemade biscuits and gravy were good, but hey- you're in NM. Truly a gem!! Although the outside is not very appealing, as soon as we walked in, we were greeted and pleasantly surprised by the interior. The food was amazing. Just like good home cooking. We got the breakfast bowl and a small breakfast burrito. The green chili was definitely a treat!! So yummy. A true gem in a tiny town. The service was super fast and very friendly, the food was great, I liked the ambience and the colors they chose. Easy access ride on the main old Highway 66 in Route Street off of one of the exits. They gave us three different sauces with our chips and they were all super tasty although quite spicy. Definitely homemade authentic Mexican sauces. I had the chicken flautas and the chicken was high-quality shredded white meat.
