The very best store for dry spices I've been to. Their pies are also delicious. Big recommendation!

We had an overall, great experience from start to finish. Takeaways: Dinner: 8.6/10 - subjective Debra (bartender): 10/10 (god dam she makes a drink - and you WANT to be around her). Night cap espresso martinis in the room were amazing! Breakfast (8:30-10:00am): 9/10 (could not believe how good that was for 'complimentary breakfast' which makes people nervous ) The Room: 7.8/10 - older but clean. This is an inn!! Quaint quiet clean - the bedroom TV didn't work - disappointing before bed, but not the reason we're here. Also, maid forgot hand soap for the room. FUN moment: we made (hand) soap at one of shops on Main Street- (cost $3.48 , had a lot left over lol) - was a fun oversight that made me make soap, by chance! Overall Service: 9.5/10. From the front desk to every waitstaff encountered , what a (small) lovely staff who truly makes you feel welcomed, not a bother in anyway and happy to be there. Sometimes a venue makes the experience special and sometimes the service makes the venue special. They are why we will return. This was a fun, easy, overnight that we're looking forward to turning into a tradition. We have walked passed for years and never been in until this past weekend! Thank you for hosting us and we look forward to being back!

10/10 would recommend! Deborah is amazing! She really knows how to make a drink! Genuinely great…read moreservice and atmosphere. Came here with friends for a drink. You can get sat at a table for food or there's a smaller bar area with about four/five chairs that you can enjoy a really well crafted cocktail at!

A crowd favorite is the butter pecan but I love the cookies and cream. Scoops are huge which is awesome but staff doesn't really seem to thrilled to be there. I don't understand unhappy people who work at ice cream shops which are happy places lol. I asked for two half scoops (so I can have two flavors but one scoop size), the staff said no and then proceeded to basically give me a 4 scoop cone. A little odd for a simple request when they are not stingy with the serving size but great little stop for ice cream in town!

I hate to do this, but I think that two stars is actually really generous given the number of times…read morethat I've been here and the fact that I've left each and every time thinking "why do I keep doing this?" I'll reserve the 'one star' treatment for dining establishments with filth issues or horrendously bad service. That said, Village Scoop is awarded a pity star because the product is basically good. (But really, how do you screw up ice cream?) They have a decent selection of flavors and the ice cream tastes good. Usually, that's enough to get me in the door and spend three dollars for two scoops. After all, it's just ice cream and I enjoy the convince of walking around the corner (I live in Cold Spring) and grabbing a cone on my way to the river. However, after last weekend I will not go here anymore. In the past, it's been annoying things like getting the wrong change back ( I was over charged) or the shop runs out of napkins (I mean, really? You sell a sticky melting product.) Or the time that the counter person gave me my sloshing milkshake in a big Styrofoam cup without a lid. I asked for a lid and she said "we don't have any". Okay then, why didn't you tell me that before I ordered? Or give me an extra cup? I had my son in the stroller, so naturally, the overflowing (it's mostly milk, of course- nice and runny) cup of milkshake spilled onto his head as I placed it in the cup holder. I was the only person in the shop. She watched this happen and didn't so much as offer a napkin. Nice. Last weekend, I ordered two scoops in a dish. I asked about a flavor that wasn't labeled as chocolate but looked like it. He had no idea what it was and thought that that was pretty amusing. So, I order mystery flavor for the thrill of discovery. Apparently, he didn't want to make much of an effort to reach across to the front of the bin because I watched as he scooped a very small scoop and then made another lazy attempt at scoop two but gave up and topped it off with a little bit of shaving. Thanks. Nice work. I said, as politely as I could "That's not really two scoops, right? I'll pay just one if that's all you could get." By now he's already rung up two scoops and says "yeah well...uh...three dollars." It was easier to pay than to deal with this guy. Basically, the employees are running this place into the ground and the owners don't care enough to notice. There are a million other places to get better ice cream: Cuppocino (more expensive, but they load it up and the service is terrific), Frozenberry (fun, cheap), Cold Spring Pizza (ice cream and gelato), Hudson Hil's ( caramel sea salt, anyone?), just to name a few.

This time around I ordered the salami and blue cheese and the roast beef special. The cheese and bread are all super fresh, but that didn't stop the roast beef sandwich from being a bit bland. The salami and blue cheese sandwich is a favorite of mine, and again was super fresh, but the sandwich was small and doesn't come with any veggies. I think the reason I am giving this two stars, and not three of four, is because of the ambiance and service. This time we waited around 20 minutes just to order our sandwiches, as there was only one person in the front, and they spent 15 minutes letting some people ahead of us sample cheese. The shop was packed, but the line was barely moving. We also saw the employees stick his nose in some mortadella and sniff it... not sure if that was a quality check but it was a bit of a turn-off. The shop itself is cute, but it has no bathroom or indoor seating, which is a must after a long car ride or hike (the area is famous for hiking). There are two outdoor tables, but they are extremely cramped. We sat down with our baby and there just wasn't enough room for us and the three ladies next to us, so my husband ate standing up. The cheese itself is quite nice and the staff is quite knowledgeable about what they products they offer. However, I like to stop here for lunch, and the lunch menu is limited to sandwiches. There are only a few sandwiches offered (maybe 5 and two specials) and they don't rotate through menu items very often, so I feel like I've tried each sandwich they offer multiple times over at this point. The sandwiches are usually quite bare and don't come with many veggies or variety. So that being said, I've been returning less because I'm a bit bored by the offerings.
