Probably the best chocolate glazed donut I've found in the area. First time there today and the whole family LOVED it. Will definitely make this our new "go to"! read more

Speedy Donuts came up in my statewide donut research. It's in Norwalk. The shop is small and it was busy for dine-in and take out. Their overall donut selection was not enticing to me. But I was intrigued by the amount of attention they gave to the "French Cruller". It had its own special higher per donut price on a sign. And there was a special sign for the volume purchase of French Crullers. I don't know about you, but, with that kind of spotlight, I'm buying a French Cruller. The French Cruller was good. It was light and airy inside. It had a slight glaze on the outside. The glaze was a bit uneven in its application. But it was a good French Cruller. Not sure it was worth all the extra signage. I also tried an unglazed stick donut with a custard filling. It was good. 4.25 Stars read more

What a cool hidden gem in a neighborhood in SoNo. This is a diner and donut shop that is small, simple and very good, you might look at it from the outside and decide to pass it by because in many ways, inside and out it is a time capsule from many years ago. Wood paneling, old hard chairs and a tiny dining room with a small counter with barstools. Met a coworker here for breakfast before work, and we had a nice breakfast. Did the classic two eggs over way, rye toast, bacon and home fries. All of it was perfectly done diner style. On the way out we threw in a couple half dozen donuts.. all of which were delicious yet light yeast donuts that tasted like they were made fresh daily. While we were eating breakfast there was a constant separate line out the door for the donut counter. I'd eat here more if I lived in the area. Nice job team Speedy! Check it out if you are in the area! read more

Love stopping in on a whim and grabbing 3 dozen glazed for the office. They are classic and my coworkers and I enjoy them tremendously. Always find parking and fast service. It's a diner atmosphere and that makes it so much more lovable. Consistency is key and they have it down to a science. read more

Nothing fancy about this place but the food is a 10/10 Service is typically well suited when the place isn't very busy. Ambience of the place is exactly what you expect from a greasy spoon that don't need delivers the GOODS! read more

We should be supporting local businesses like this! Speedy Donuts is a Norwalk staple. I got an egg sandwich which came on the freshest roll, so good. Of course I couldn't leave without a donut. I saw strawberry but the section for strawberry sprinkles was empty - I asked if they had anymore; most places would just say "no", but the woman at the counter said hold on let me get sprinkles for you. She grabbed a donut and took it to back for a fresh dip of strawberry icing and sprinkles. I would have just taken the ones without it but that was super sweet of her to make me what I asked for. And when I actually bit into it? It was like eating a strawberry cloud - so light and airy! Stepping into Speedy Donuts is like walking into a time capsule in the best, nostalgic way. read more

Been coming here since I was a child in the 90s. It's lovely that seemingly nothing has changed. This was my first place I came back to on my trip back up to CT. Donuts- you can't beat a classic glazed, classic, firm exterior, soft interior. perfect symphony when dipped in to the piping hot coffee. Breakfast im a simple gal. Two eggs over easy, toast + potatoes, done quick and no frills. read more

Nicest people in the universe. The VERY BEST place for breakfast and lunch. The finest donuts in the world and a Norwalk institution. Love the ambiance and small town, friendly neighborhood vibe! THE BEST!!!!! read more

The donuts and food are tremendous. Customer service can be lackluster sometimes. I've stood in line 15 minutes and not even been greeted a couple times. But the food (especially the donuts) is consistently good. read more

Best donuts around! Great breakfast egg sandwiches! Love the cozy, old-time feel. Always friendly and efficient service.

Unorganized and dirty , the customers are a bunch of losers and the owner is rude. The parking sucks and the donuts are not worth the price

This morning we headed to what I once thought was our favorite breakfast spot. We've been so loyal we only go to here in Norwalk. I've been a customer for over 15 years and I've never been treated so poorly... Our order was messed up. A simple fix to remake two breakfast sandwiches? I guess not. when asked to make new sandwiches, we were told to basically "take it or leave it." at one point we were told "I just work here." I guess the customer can be wrong here??? I know Alex the owner would make things right and so that's what's so appalling is that they dare to do this when he's not around. read more

Never again. How I can sit at the counter and wait 20 min for a Bacon Egg and Cheese in an empty place is beyond me. Literally waited 20 min and they didn't even start my order. Told them to cancel and walked out. It is not tht hard to make a breakfast sandwich at 1045 in the am read more

This might be my new favorite breakfast spot and I stopped here on a whim because it looked like a nice local spot to grab a coffee. My western omelette was one of the best I've ever had. The donuts were great as well. read more

Excellent crullers as well as a great assortment of fresh baked donuts. And the place is a real throw back in time

Great, local donut shop/ breakfast spot that has been around forever! Wherever I take the donuts, people love them! The staff is always friendly and fast. It can be busy at times and the grill can get backed up so just be prepared. You watch the chef cook all the breakfast right there in front of you. An old school feel of eating at the breakfast bar or one of the tiny tables. This place probably has never changed which makes it a true gem. They do accept credit cards as well! And the price is definitely right on the donuts :) read more

I paid $10 for a BLT that had two extremely thin tomatoes. I'm not even sure what kind of bacon it was. It tasted like something a dinosaur would have eaten. If you can mess up a BLT, who knows what else could go wrong? read more

I came here with my Dad while I was in CT. This is a nice local breakfast spot. The food is good. Nothing over the top, but a nice home cooked meal type of feel. They have a lot of options and the servers are friendly. It's kind of small, so if it gets busy they may not have enough room to seat you. All in all it gives off a family owned version of Waffle House vibe, and they don't have any Waffle House in ct so this is as close as you are going to get! read more

Stop in this morning looking for French cruller and they had, wow off the hook one of the best that I had When I'm back in the neighborhood I will stop by again read more

The best! I know it's controversial, but I'm not the biggest fan of Krispy Kreme. I love the texture, but hate the aftertaste. These donuts are as soft as Krispy Kreme, but without that strange aftertaste. Amazing! The French Cruellers almost melt in your mouth. They're 50 times softer than Dunkin. We also tried the lemon, strawberry frosted with sprinkles, and blueberry. Lemon is my husband's favorite donut, but it's hard to find. He's thrilled that they have it here. The tartness perfectly balances out the sweetness. My favorite was the French Crueller - of course. All of the donuts we tried were great. We also got some breakfast sandwiches - sausage/bacon egg and cheese on a roll. So good! The fresh roll really makes a difference. We came in around 8am on a Sunday morning and there were a few people waiting for their food. They're very efficient, but it seems to be a very popular and busy place. If you're in a rush, arrive earlier or call ahead. We had no issue finding a parking spot in their lot. My husband went there on a weekday morning and parking was harder to find. The line was also longer, but he only got donuts, so he didn't have to wait very long. Their prices are very reasonable, especially for such great offerings. Would highly recommend! Based on some reviews we thought they were cash only. Nope! They now accept credit cards. read more

Stopped by here this morning and this place is the epitome of what I love about easy coffee and donut diner style places. The place is small but clearly popular as there was a steady stream of customers even at 7AM. I had time to kill (and am obsessed with breakfast), so i decided to sit at the counter and eat a meal. I had 2 eggs over-easy with cheese, bacon, potatoes and rye toast, plus a large hot coffee. Nothing fancy per say, but this place delivered. Eggs and potatoes were perfectly cooked and flavorful. Bacon was maybe a little over-done for me, but not in a burned way, more in a super crunchy way (i'm sure you could request more/less crispy). Coffee hit the spot. I also grabbed 3 donuts to go, chocolate crueller, old fashioned, and apple cinnamon cake. All were delicious. The price for this massive meal, coffee, and 3 donuts came to $17 total!! What an amazing deal. I loved this hole in wall and definitely would recommend! read more

It may not look special, but don't knock until you've tried it. Really friendly people and really good food..what else really matters? A simple breakfast menu, but what I had was prepared well, cooked correctly and tasted great (2 eggs over easy, home fries and sausage). After breakfast, picked up a dozen donuts to bring to the office and even though everybody was "on a diet," they were devoured and all gone way before lunch. read more

Popped in for a quick breakfast, and some donuts. Breakfast was upper level greasy spoon, with some no frills sammiches that were quick bc and satisfying, and a coffee that was exactly what you'd expect and not worse. The price of breakfast was well on the cheap side, so bump up the star count accordingly. I got six donuts to take home and wish I had gotten twelve. These aren't those bland dunkin dorknuts, and they aren't the gimmicky oversized ones that still lack everything good about a donut. These bad Daryls are made with nothing but love and deliciousness. Go here. Get breakfast. Buy donuts. And tip big. read more

Below average quality donuts. Terribly dry. It was a great disappointment given the reviews. People tend to rate things higher if there is a limited supply of competition. So is the case here. Donuts especially, and even grilled food are great. Friendly, fast service. Great diner!

This place has the best donuts since the Coffee and Donuts/Donut Inn in Noroton Heights closed. Much better than Dunkin or other local chain of donut places. Great variety too. Can get a jelly without sugar on the outside and it is really good. I love the atmosphere but might not be for everyone. Retro 50s diner or dinette. Plus, the breakfast sandwiches are a cut above as well. Prepared on an old skillet in front of you with good rolls. This is a hidden gem of a place, but it seems to consistently do a good business. read more

WOW. WOW. WOW. This spot is on a recent list as one of the nation'a very best donut shops: http://www.grubstreet.com/2014/02/101-amazing-doughnut-shops-around-america.html Cheap! Like $1.20 for amazing raised sweet confection! It doesn't look like much from the exterior view & the inside is humble too. But, oh these donuts! Amazing. I had the raised spider- it's like a large cinnamon fritter - fried, slathered in sweet glaze, w cinnamon swirled into the tender airy buttery dough. Perfection. I also tried the raised coconut (they offer a cake donut w toasted coconut too) it was pleasant, airy, not too coconut-y (if that's even possible). So many choices-like 1/2 the wall of the place is dedicated to the holy donut get it? ; ) but there isn't an actual donut menu. It's old school in here but the donuts are rediculous. Very pleasant service. They serve full breakfast & lunch - diner style. Closed by 3:00. Decent coffee. CASH ONLY!!! Tiny private parking. read more

I wish we had more time to sit and eat! This was a stop and grab for donuts and we crossed our fingers and hoped it would turn out ok. The donuts were so so good.
