    Strawberry donut with sprinkles
    Dani C.

We should be supporting local businesses like this! Speedy Donuts is a Norwalk staple. I got an egg sandwich which came on the freshest roll, so good. Of course I couldn't leave without a donut. I saw strawberry but the section for strawberry sprinkles was empty - I asked if they had anymore; most places would just say "no", but the woman at the counter said hold on let me get sprinkles for you. She grabbed a donut and took it to back for a fresh dip of strawberry icing and sprinkles. I would have just taken the ones without it but that was super sweet of her to make me what I asked for. And when I actually bit into it? It was like eating a strawberry cloud - so light and airy! Stepping into Speedy Donuts is like walking into a time capsule in the best, nostalgic way.

Great, local donut shop/ breakfast spot that has been around forever! Wherever I take the donuts, people love them! The staff is always friendly and fast. It can be busy at times and the grill can get backed up so just be prepared. You watch the chef cook all the breakfast right there in front of you. An old school feel of eating at the breakfast bar or one of the tiny tables. This place probably has never changed which makes it a true gem. They do accept credit cards as well! And the price is definitely right on the donuts :)

French cruellers, lemon, frosted strawberry sprinkle, and blueberry donuts

The best! I know it's controversial, but I'm not the biggest fan of Krispy Kreme. I love the texture, but hate the aftertaste. These donuts are as soft as Krispy Kreme, but without that strange aftertaste. Amazing! The French Cruellers almost melt in your mouth. They're 50 times softer than Dunkin. We also tried the lemon, strawberry frosted with sprinkles, and blueberry. Lemon is my husband's favorite donut, but it's hard to find. He's thrilled that they have it here. The tartness perfectly balances out the sweetness. My favorite was the French Crueller - of course. All of the donuts we tried were great. We also got some breakfast sandwiches - sausage/bacon egg and cheese on a roll. So good! The fresh roll really makes a difference. We came in around 8am on a Sunday morning and there were a few people waiting for their food. They're very efficient, but it seems to be a very popular and busy place. If you're in a rush, arrive earlier or call ahead. We had no issue finding a parking spot in their lot. My husband went there on a weekday morning and parking was harder to find. The line was also longer, but he only got donuts, so he didn't have to wait very long. Their prices are very reasonable, especially for such great offerings. Would highly recommend! Based on some reviews we thought they were cash only. Nope! They now accept credit cards.

Unorganized and dirty , the customers are a bunch of losers and the owner is rude. The parking sucks and the donuts are not worth the price

There are loads of choices, but I always get a French Cruller because they are the best I have ever had (light as air, delicate, moist).

We first discovered Coals when they had locations in New York. After those closed, we happily started making the trip to Connecticut because nothing else compares. We've even celebrated special occasions here because the restaurant is spacious, welcoming, and has such a great atmosphere. The service is second to none. The owners are incredibly kind and welcoming, and the waitstaff is always friendly, attentive, and excellent. Coals is always worth the trip, and we can't recommend it enough!

My mom had insisted on going here on Mother's Day. Fortunately, their Connecticut location was open and we went. Bianca, I believe as a manager and was super accommodating with my mom's 100 questions haha. We started with one of the salads and the brussels sprouts. Both were great, but the brussels sprouts stood out to me. As for the pizza, we got the Margherita, Rustic, & Bayside. All of them were great, but the Bayside had to be my favorite. The pistachio pesto and goat cheese went very well together. The Rustic was a close runner up- mushrooms and truffle oil are always a match made in heaven. The Margherita was a classic but with the style of super thin, almost cracker-thin pizza I preferred the other two more. All in all, my family and I would definitely make it out to Norwalk again just for this place (& we live in Long Island). Thanks Bianca for making my Mom's day!

Popular menu items include birria tacos, octopus, shrimp ceviche, and steak chimichurri. My daughter and I visited here for her birthday, and we both love Latin cuisine. As we walked in, we were greeted warmly and shown to our seats immediately. It was a chilly day, and the restaurant felt cold inside as well. The staff tried to warm things up with space heaters, but they didn't quite do the trick. We ordered empanadas, birria tacos, hanger steak, and sweet plantains with crema and queso fresco. When the dishes arrived, they were lukewarm--a bit disappointing, considering how cold it was outside. The birria tacos were delicious, though again, they could have been hotter. The meat was tender and well-seasoned, but I would have liked it a bit crisper. The hanger steak was tender, and the Pico de Gallo was bursting with flavor, pairing perfectly with the steak. It was nicely seasoned and had a good-sized portion. The empanadas were tasty, with flavorful and plentiful meat. The plantains were extremely delicious. The crema and queso fresco helped bring the whole dish together beautifully. The customer service was friendly, but the food could have been hotter; still, the flavors and seasonings were spot-on.
