What a cool hidden gem in a neighborhood in SoNo. This is a diner and donut shop that is small, simple and very good, you might look at it from the outside and decide to pass it by because in many ways, inside and out it is a time capsule from many years ago. Wood paneling, old hard chairs and a tiny dining room with a small counter with barstools. Met a coworker here for breakfast before work, and we had a nice breakfast. Did the classic two eggs over way, rye toast, bacon and home fries. All of it was perfectly done diner style. On the way out we threw in a couple half dozen donuts.. all of which were delicious yet light yeast donuts that tasted like they were made fresh daily. While we were eating breakfast there was a constant separate line out the door for the donut counter. I'd eat here more if I lived in the area. Nice job team Speedy! Love stopping in on a whim and grabbing 3 dozen glazed for the office. They are classic and my coworkers and I enjoy them tremendously. Always find parking and fast service. It's a diner atmosphere and that makes it so much more lovable. Consistency is key and they have it down to a science. read more

We should be supporting local businesses like this! Speedy Donuts is a Norwalk staple. I got an egg sandwich which came on the freshest roll, so good. Of course I couldn't leave without a donut. I saw strawberry but the section for strawberry sprinkles was empty - I asked if they had anymore; most places would just say "no", but the woman at the counter said hold on let me get sprinkles for you. She grabbed a donut and took it to back for a fresh dip of strawberry icing and sprinkles. I would have just taken the ones without it but that was super sweet of her to make me what I asked for. And when I actually bit into it? It was like eating a strawberry cloud - so light and airy! Stepping into Speedy Donuts is like walking into a time capsule in the best, nostalgic way. read more

This morning we headed to what I once thought was our favorite breakfast spot. We've been so loyal we only go to here in Norwalk. I've been a customer for over 15 years and I've never been treated so poorly... Our order was messed up. A simple fix to remake two breakfast sandwiches? I guess not. when asked to make new sandwiches, we were told to basically "take it or leave it." at one point we were told "I just work here." I guess the customer can be wrong here??? Great, local donut shop/ breakfast spot that has been around forever! Wherever I take the donuts, people love them! The staff is always friendly and fast. It can be busy at times and the grill can get backed up so just be prepared. You watch the chef cook all the breakfast right there in front of you. An old school feel of eating at the breakfast bar or one of the tiny tables. This place probably has never changed which makes it a true gem. They do accept credit cards as well! I came here with my Dad while I was in CT. This is a nice local breakfast spot. The food is good. Nothing over the top, but a nice home cooked meal type of feel. They have a lot of options and the servers are friendly. It's kind of small, so if it gets busy they may not have enough room to seat you. All in all it gives off a family owned version of Waffle House vibe, and they don't have any Waffle House in ct so this is as close as you are going to get! read more

The best! I know it's controversial, but I'm not the biggest fan of Krispy Kreme. I love the texture, but hate the aftertaste. These donuts are as soft as Krispy Kreme, but without that strange aftertaste. Amazing! The French Cruellers almost melt in your mouth. They're 50 times softer than Dunkin. We also tried the lemon, strawberry frosted with sprinkles, and blueberry. Lemon is my husband's favorite donut, but it's hard to find. He's thrilled that they have it here. The tartness perfectly balances out the sweetness. My favorite was the French Crueller - of course. All of the donuts we tried were great. We also got some breakfast sandwiches - sausage/bacon egg and cheese on a roll. So good! The fresh roll really makes a difference. We came in around 8am on a Sunday morning and there were a few people waiting for their food. They're very efficient, but it seems to be a very popular and busy place. If you're in a rush, arrive earlier or call ahead. We had no issue finding a parking spot in their lot. My husband went there on a weekday morning and parking was harder to find. The line was also longer, but he only got donuts, so he didn't have to wait very long. Their prices are very reasonable, especially for such great offerings. Would highly recommend! Stopped by here this morning and this place is the epitome of what I love about easy coffee and donut diner style places. The place is small but clearly popular as there was a steady stream of customers even at 7AM. I had time to kill (and am obsessed with breakfast), so i decided to sit at the counter and eat a meal. I had 2 eggs over-easy with cheese, bacon, potatoes and rye toast, plus a large hot coffee. Nothing fancy per say, but this place delivered. Eggs and potatoes were perfectly cooked and flavorful. Bacon was maybe a little over-done for me, but not in a burned way, more in a super crunchy way (i'm sure you could request more/less crispy). Coffee hit the spot. I also grabbed 3 donuts to go, chocolate crueller, old fashioned, and apple cinnamon cake. All were delicious. The price for this massive meal, coffee, and 3 donuts came to $17 total!! Breakfast was upper level greasy spoon, with some no frills sammiches that were quick bc and satisfying, and a coffee that was exactly what you'd expect and not worse. The price of breakfast was well on the cheap side, so bump up the star count accordingly. I got six donuts to take home and wish I had gotten twelve. These aren't those bland dunkin dorknuts, and they aren't the gimmicky oversized ones that still lack everything good about a donut. These bad Daryls are made with nothing but love and deliciousness. Went in for breakfast with my hubby and got 2 bacon egg and cheese on rolls and coffees. Our sandwiches were fresh hot and mouth watering and the coffee was alright. They make you drink your coffee out of paper cups so when it's hot you can't really hold on to your cup long enough to drink. Took awhile to get our order but worth the wait. read more
