I went in for a standard oil change in November. I was attended to quickly and in and out in less than an hour. The shop was very dirty/cluttered and smelled strongly of oil/exhaust. I waited outside on the curb because waiting inside would have given me a migraine. This service was not even a cheaper than average. I still paid what I would pay at the reputable dealership, but the technician did not tighten the oil filter and left the dipstick open, causing my car leaked oil for the past few months. The smell was noxious and it should never have happened. I only found this out after bringing it to another servicer because of the terrible smell. I would not recommend for quality or affordable work. Speed seems to be the only priority here and not worth the trade offs to quality. read more

I love this place. They're really accurate when you call regarding how soon they can get you in (always same day within a few hours) and churn your car out fast, too. I've only taken my cars in for oil changes, but I appreciate having a place in the hood owned by BIPOC folks that I can go to for stuff like this. The guys are always really friendly and take care of business. The price varied in my experience, but I think they also gave me the option to go cheaper and I didn't pick the right option. I pulled in, the owner asked if I wanted synthetic, I said yes, and he grabbed my keys. It's a one man shop and the guy never stops moving. He is efficient and quick. He helped others with various problems as they needed (leaky tire, air filter, etc). He never tried to upswell me on anything and didn't tell me I needed repairs when I didn't. He simply changed my oil quickly. He spilled some oil accidentally on the engine cover and took the time to clean it up by wiping and degreasing it so it wasn't a mess and wouldn't smell. Love this place! It's run by a 75 year old Vietnamese man named Mao who's spry and friendly and will enage you in a lively conversation. I rolled up, was the only car there, in and out in 15 minutes. $70, which might be a couple bucks more than Grease Monkey but so worth it for the personal touch. read more

TLDR: Avoid this place like the plague I came here for an oil change. Admittedly, I was past due for it and my car had what I believed to be a sticking lifter (which is apparently caused by sludgy build up from being overdue for the oil change). This place is a hole in the wall with two employees, where one is the owner. I got to Speedee about 10 minutes after noon. I was the only one there. Owner is incredibly difficult to understand, but he agreed that the noise was most likely a lifter. After an hour and a half of waiting, and a double charge for oil changes with synthetic oil and a basic oil filter, I walked out after paying ~ 160 bucks. My car is a 2.3L 4-cylinder. I would have paid less at Jiffy Lube and they're a rip off. Car still makes the damn ticking noise when I accelerate, so aside of an initial oil change, I overpaid by about $75 plus tax for nothing. I have no idea why there are so many good reviews for this shop. It's overpriced, underserved, and definitely not worth anyone's hard earned money. read more

I'm constantly frustrated/stressed over interactions with car things and figured I'd try this place out. It's a hidden gem! Very few words were spoken but it was a fast and friendly exchange. I went into the office, asked for an oil change, he took my keys, drove car in, asked if I wanted regular or synthetic oil, finished work, drove car out, gave me bill. The end! So far in loving these guys. My BF goes to this shop regularly so when my car decided to run into the hitch of a truck in front of me we took my car here. There are two guys here and they have been great about working with me to fix it. They stayed late to get it in the lot and keep in touch for parts I need along this process to get cheaper then they could for new parts. It's still an expensive process but it's cheaper then a name brand shop quoted me. They are defiantly my first pick auto place now read more

Blink and you'll miss this place on MLK, but it's worth the trip. The owner is nice and friendly, kind of quirky in a good way. Makes it entertaining. But best of all, it was a fast, easy oil change. Let's be frank, the chain quick lube places all suck. I'd almost rather go to the dentist. So I tried a major chain tire place and full service shop up the street. He wanted me to leave the car from noon to 6pm. For an oil change? Could I just make an appointment for later? No, I had to leave my car to have a place in line. What a joke. So I saw this place on yelp and decided to give it a shot. Perfect, easy in and out. No high pressure upselling. No wiper blades, no air filters, no bogus $150 fluid flushes. I'm a huge fan of having a good relationship with a small business like these guys. They take care of me and everyone I recommend to them having awesome prices and they give you advice on how to get the best deal even if they're not the guys. What doubly frustrating is that I'd called yesterday to confirm they'd be open today. Just called again and still no answer. Dennis and Bau!! I had issues with an alternator on my car and wanted more done. I asked them firmly to call me before any repairs to my car. I explained I was limited on funds and needed to know their price before they repaired my car and if I could not afford the repairs I could just bring it back at a later date. I got a call from Dennis a few hours later,hey your cars ready, when can you come get it, shocked they'ed repaired it with out calling me, I ask how much, I told him I could not afford that price and that I had asked him to CALL BEFORE HE DID ANY WORK. I explained again I couldn't pay the amount I didn't have that amount to my name at the time, upset he screamed he'll undo the work and come get my dam car. I go to pick up my car he and Bau are looking at me as if they wanted to hurt me which would have turned out to be A Horrid Day for the pair, I attempt to talk to Dennis, with all his attitude I left him in mid sentence walked away got in my car and crank it, WTH? I ASKED WHAT DID THEY DO TO MY CAR??? The same problems id taken it to him initially, I could tell were back with a vengence! After a heated back and forth and not willing to hurt this fool over this, I took my car to another better mechanic, who then inspects my car ,calls me and shows me where these clowns, out of SPITE had undone the work I paid them to do initially!!! (Weeks before) I called him and told him I knew what he'd done to my car. He insisted he'd only removed the the parts he put on my car which had absolutely nothing to do with the other. I just had to let everyone know how these two operate, be aware! I heard from a associate that he was going blind in one eye, also that he'd had a similar experience with these Clowns. Just be aware, every one is not honest! I'd first posted a review of the business with 5 stars happy with the initial service. The first time I visited this place it was decent, though the owner/mgr was smoking next to open containers of oil and gasoline I'm amazed he did not explode. The price and service were adequate. Though when I went back a second time he suggested I get a new air filter. He pulled it out and showed me and it was indeed very dirty. I said "How much?" He said "oh about 14 dollars" I said ok lets do it. When I got the bill he charged me an extra 19 dollars to put install the air filter on top of the original 14. I could have literally snapped it into place myself had I known how easy it was. It was my fault for not looking at the bill more closely before paying but I will not be going back on account of his dishonesty or neglect to tell me what the price would really be. 14 dollars is a little different than 33, especially when you've already paid 35 for an oil change read more

Went for an oil change at around lunch time. Other choices had a 45 minute wait, so decided to try Speedee since they were closer anyway and cheaper for synthetic -Mobile 1. Was very pleased with the service. Very friendly, didn't try to upsell me on anything else. Pleasant waiting room. read more
