UPDATE 2/18: FINALLY got a Sun Auto district manager to return my call today and he explained that the "Customer Care Program" doesn't exist and they only pay for tow service if the repairs needing to be addressed were originally done at a Sun Auto shop and still under warranty. That is NOT what is advertised on Jeff's Auto repair website or in the office. Not even close! Taken directly from the shop's website (https://jeffsauto.com/services), "To earn your lifetime business, we do more than service your vehicle -- we provide safety and peace of mind. That's why we offer a 24-Hour Nationwide Roadside Assistance Program designed to help you in the event of an emergency". TOTAL LIE! They do not offer this to customers. NOTE: This is not a "small business". It's no longer the "mom n' pop" shop, privately owned and operated, that had a good reputation for decades. All of the Jeff's Auto Repair shops in western WA have been bought by Sun Auto & Tire corporation and the original owner, Jeff Gietzen, hasn't been around for years. Sun Auto has been quietly scooping up shops all across the nation and their focus is PROFIT. That's it. Run from this place! __________________________________________________________________________________ Took my SUV to Jeff's (which is actually owned by Sun Auto Tire & Service), based on on-line reviews, for transmission fluid change on Jan 28, 2025. Everything fine then. I knew I needed additional repairs done and when I was ready for that, I called the shop (2/14) to ask if I qualified, as an existing customer, for their free "Customer Care Program" (24-hr roadside assistance basically, including towing) bcuz my SUV wasn't drivable and it needed to be towed to the shop. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I called on Friday, Ryan told me I'd need to talk to mgr Gerry (who was out until Monday) about that program. Shop isn't open on weekends so I left my contact info and waited for call. No one followed up so I had to call shop again![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Gerry told me that they no longer offer that Customer Care program -- despite that it's posted on their website and there are brochures about it in their office. Furthermore, Gerry said that they only provide " complimentary" tow service to customers if existing work that their shop performed fails and is under warranty and referred me to a local tow service (I *have* AAA membership but why use that if I can use the shop's free service??) I went to Jeffs Auto Repair because I trusted them to do a simple oil change and tire rotation. Less than a month later, I am in Point Defiance when my tire flies off and damages my wheel well. All the nuts were striped off and one of the lugs snapped off completely. Every mechanic and engineer I asked on how this could have happened all said the same thing. "The lug nuts were not tightened properly". The tow cost $700 and the repairs cost over $3000! I have looked at the other one star reviews for this particular shop and this is not the first time this has happened. I know I can't do anything about the damages to hold Jeffs Auto responsible without drowning in legal fees. My 2002, Volvo V70 2.4t 195,000 miles The radiator cracked. I towed it to Jeff's Auto Repair in Renton, WA. They wanted $1,700.00 to replace the radiator. I can buy a new radiator on Amazon for $67.00. 1 month ago, Jeff's Auto Repair - My radiator hose got disconnected, that cost me $427.00 to replug and flush, double what I should have paid. Update: Jeff's Auto Repair left my headlights on which totally drained my battery (admission denied). The tow truck driver crawled through my trunk, (so it was obviously left unlocked!) because my key doesn't work if the battery is dead. He said the headlights were in the "on" position. They gave my battery a jump and got it to my home. So, now an affordable mobile mechanic can replace my radiator I bought on Amazon for $100.00 bucks including expedited shipping. Update #2: My jumpstart kit is gone as well as my air pressure gauge and pump! No forced entry! No cameras, no security, they couldn't care less. Do not go to Jeff's Auto Repair in Renton! Absolutely appalling experience, avoid at all costs. This garage does not have security measures of any kind. No cameras, no fence and they do not care if vehicles get damaged while in their care. I brought my 2013 Nissan Pathfinder to this shop expecting my car to be repaired, but instead, I walked away with a shattered window and a $700+ loss with nothing fixed. Overnight while in their possession, my vehicle was broken into on their unsecured lot, leaving one of my rear windows completely shattered. When I returned to the shop to document the damage for a police report, one of the mechanics told me lot security isn't one of the services they provide and that "We are not responsible for the safety of the vehicles on this lot." After documenting the damage, I asked one of the mechanics if I needed to come back to tape the window or if that was something they would do so the interior of my car doesn't get damaged. The mechanic told me they would do it and to not worry. Spoiler alert, it was never done and my car was left over night with a shattered window open to the elements again. Worse, I was told by the mechanic that break-ins were extremely rare, supposedly none in the last four+ years. That's a lie. A quick glance at online reviews shows this is far from the first time other cars have been broken into in their care. So, either they're lying, or they're willfully ignoring the safety of their customers' vehicles. Either way, it's unacceptable. To add insult to injury, or damaged property, when I came to inspect the car after the break-in, all the doors were already unlocked, which means they failed to lock the car that morning after the initial inspection. Completely negligent. After seeing the break-in, them leaving my car unlocked after a break-in, and reading their reviews for myself, I made the decision to pull my car from their care. But now I'm out over $700, the cost of the diagnostic (fair price, only positive from the experience) and window replacement, and I still need the original repairs done elsewhere. I ended up calling some other shops in the area and was quoted less for the car repair and the window fix (and those shops actually have security cameras and fences around their lot for vehicle security). Bottom line: This shop is irresponsible and lying about the safety of your car on the lot. Save yourself the stress, the money, and the damage. Go literally anywhere else. read more

How frustrating, if you are in car repair business, people are dropping off their cars on trust don't make false statements and keep there cars there for no reason. Save your MONEY, they are not detailed. I paid $1400 to have my fuel tank replaced. After they replaced it, I went to the gas station to fill up my gas tank, and gas began to leak again, this time from the fuel pump area. I took my car to them TWICE for them to say it was fix, but it was not. On the third time they gave a vague answer to what was causing the problem. I Immediately could tell they were not being honest. I took my car to JEEP in Renton, they found the problem in a day. Fuel was leaking from my filler neck area, at the seal at the top AND fuel pump area. NONE THOSE THESE PROBLEMS EXISTED BEFORE THEY TOUCHED MY CAR. Jeep let me know ALSO they installed the fuel tank incorrectly (PAID $1400) and left bolts LOOSE. Just how incapable can you be. Save your money, save time filing paper work, save time from dealing with mechanics that do not know how to repair cars. read more

I took my 2017 chevy cruz in for a clutch diagnostic. Left it there for a night and all they did was a visual inspection and pressed the clutch petal then the technician assumed I needed a slave cylinder. Cost to "diagnose" was $200. With a quote for $2,500 repairs. Technician never ruled out air in the clutch system by bleeding the system. These guys are lazy and assume the most expensive fix when you can rule out cheaper fixes by doing a little work. Amateurs or scammers? In addition, the technician left my car unlocked overnight and I got my crowbar and portable car charging battery/emergency tire compressor stolen and car ransacked. Called them for a refund and they assumed no responsibility. Don't go here unless you want a ripoff! read more

I have had the pleasure of dealing with this location twice. This last time they got me in immediately and they are honest. Which is hard to find in this industry. This last time I brought my car in at the last minute (the dealer couldn't see it until January). They couldn't find the issue. Ran all tests and assured me that it was okay. When I went here for an oil change and tire rotation, they gave me my keys and said I was good to go, so I did. I drove away and immediately noticed my tire did not sound right and pulled back in. When I parked in a spot, 2 lug nuts fell off my tire, I went back in to tell them and when the mechanic came back to drive it into the shop, a third fell out. read more

I was appalled at the treatment and service we received at Jeff's Auto Repair in Renton on July 9th, 2024. Never in my entire life have I received such poor service. The ignition froze as I was leaving Fred Meyers. Unfortunately we had the vehicle towed to Jeff's in Renton. Was in formed $185 plus tax diagnostic fee. They completely torn the instrument panel out had wires hanging down and informed us it was a bad key. So we got a locksmith there to make a new key. The lock smith before leaving checked the turn signals and they were working. Once Jeff reassembled the instrument panel the turn signals and front lights were not working so we immediately took the car back and was informed by Ryan how does he know they weren't working when we had the car towed in? How can someone even drive a vehicle without front lights and turn signals. Of course they were working. [[HIGHLIGHT]]He was rude and said he doesn't work for free although we just paid them $216 to have then pull the wires down and tell us it was the key.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They half ass fixed the lights then when we got in the car we had the air bag light on? I am writing this review before having had my car worked on here. To clarify. I have a 2016 car under warrantee I purchased used at a dealer. It's a Chevy. I've had it in the shop five times in a year. They still haven't fixed it. I took it to Jeff's out of convenience. They made some suggestions but did no work as per our discussions. Here's the rub. I had to walk to get my car which turned out to be a terrible mistake. I waked miles for what felt like hours. My cell phone was dead and I was stranded with no phone or car and the place was locking up. The man at Jeff's came and found me and took me to my car. It sounds like a simple statement but in that one act he saved me from any one of a number of bad outcomes, at the very least panic. I am sorry I don't recall his name because he is an asset. If I could put zero stars I would. Shop is dishonest they damaged my car while they were working on it. Gerry the shop manager tells me headquarters will call with claim number to fix. Head quarters calls says didn't happen at the shop and say they have pictures, I called BS and asked for pictures and conveniently they didn't take any. Head quarters said they will give me $300.00 check and go get it buffed out. You can see the clean spot were there smashed into car Light broken aa well. Collision shop quotes $2500.00. What a waste of time. I had a full power steering replacement at Jeff's Auto in Bellevue 2 years ago. Last November the steering started to fail. I called Jeff's down in Renton as the Bellevue location was closed. I was reaffirmed by phone that my warranty was within the 2 years and I could have a full replacement. I arrive January 30th as that was the earliest they could see me. Finding out today that Kevin came up with numerous reasons why my power steering replacement will not be warranted. First- My vehicle is commercial which is not the case. Second-My warranty is passed by a month. I find it Interesting that they made me wait a month for my appointment so as they can use the "out of warranty timeframe" excuse. Kevin then wanted to waste more of my time today coming up with a new quote for a power steering pump which would have a brand new warranty. What happened to my last warranty?? If you can't warranty under the actual guidelines your company set, why would I trust your "new warranty" and since my truck is used for a variety of uses, as was the case when I had the original repair done since when does your evaluation on how I use my truck make it a factor on Whether or not you want to eat the cost with the repair. I decided to leave and take my business elsewhere to someone that will honor their work. It is nice to find companies out there that just don't make the cut. I will tell everyone I know on social media to NOT do business with Jeff's Auto Repair. Because they do not back up there word as well as repairs on vehicles. Just a side note- New power steering replacements don't fail 2 years in! Thanks for wasting my gas and my time today. Have a nice day! My reply- Actually the warranty was for 2 years or 36k miles. To have to pay $200+ just to get an AC check yielded nothing but an even more expensive compressor replacement estimate. That wouldn't be that bad, but had to leave the car there all day just to get that and only asked that they'd be kind enough to make sure the tires on the car were filled, to which they agreed and confirmed they did, but didn't do. And the pricing for the compressor was hundreds more than the next estimate we got. Won't be back. read more

I'm really surprised there are ANY five star reviews here. I'm an automotive enthusiast of sorts and had been taking my car to Imports N Sorts for years (just a block north). That shop closed and another choice I had was Jeff's. Let me add that Imports and Sorts owner (Rob) know works at Jeff's so I tried it out. What a disappointment (not Rob, the shop). This was an alternator replacement and oil change. It took a day longer and I got the total up sell on the oil change (est. $85, actual cost $125). Something about special oil for a BMW M3, blah, blah, blah. They didn't even call. The essentially bought the most expensive synthetic on the planet and put in 8 quarts with no phone call. I miss Rob's place so much. Please avoid this place if you are adverse to up selling. I'm not the first to experience this at Jeffs after talking with my German car friends who have also been here. It feels like they feel they have a captive customer base with Boeing Engineering bldgs being across the street. I will not be back after 5+ years going to Imports and Sorts. read more

I have been taking my two vehicles to Jeff's for about 5-years now. At first I choose them because I worked a block away and they had good AAA ratings, however, I continue to take the cars there because I've come to trust their work and recommendations. Several times they have had an opportunity where they could have screwed me by telling to that something needed to be replaced, such as another place said it should be replaced, but they didn't take advantage. I had noise issues with my Toyota Sienna in the AC. Took it in first thing in the morning and got there when it opened. Ken was very helpful and looked at it despite the garage being full for the day. He ended up diagnosing the problem in a few minutes and removed the heat shield to our converter. I left my car in my garage for two weeks due to snow and the car did not start. I thought maybe the battery died. Got it towed to the shop and was told it was the spark plugs were not gaped properly and sitting so long . They replaced the spark plugs then charged me $1,200. They also suggested I need a new battery and asked for additional $286 for it. I went somewhere else, they charged me only $89.90 for the battery with the same brand plus 4 years warranty when Jeff's only offer two years warranty on the battery. Very disappointed. Man, am I glad I trusted my gut and selected Jeff's Auto Repair when my car had a recent unexpected issue. Most of us know this: car repair places are hit or miss, and most of us aren't knowledgeable enough about cars not to feel at least slightly skeptical of the trustworthiness of the people telling you that you need this that & the other. The first thing that impressed me was the clarity with which the manager explained to me what was going on. He wasn't rushed and he asked if it made sense before continuing. He also didn't completely use technical jargon and instead used plain everyday terms. I felt fully informed. He was positive and upbeat but understanding of the fact the price tag was somewhat painful, and he reviewed every charge. And since it was an issue that might have revealed more that would be needed, he estimated all three scenarios. And even though I gave him the go-ahead to do the work for each scenario should it come to that, he said that wasn't how they do it; that they always get a final go-ahead on the specific work at hand. Excellent, for both parties. I am so glad and since they do all work, Jeff's Auto Repair is now my place to go for everything from routine maintenance to repairs. Here is an update to my previous review for Jeff's Auto Repair in Renton. After posting my dissatisfaction review to Jeff's Auto Repair work, I received a response on yelp from Kevin McLenaghan, service manager at the Renton location, requesting me to call him to figure out how we can resolve my complaint, as he tried to call me few times without success. I thought this was a sign of a good start to a good customer service. I replied back letting him know that I will call him by the end of the week, sometime on Friday. When I called Kevin on Friday, he was really concerned about my posted review and dissatisfaction of his shop service and offered his thoughts. However, when I explained to him how I felt and that I was taken advantage of when I was told by him when I initially spoke with him on the phone that AC diagnosis is $60, then the price increased once I was in the shop, he immediately realized that there was a miscommunication on his part and was very apologetic. He then offered me a refund of $143 so that what I was charged is what I was initially quoted for an AC diagnosis, which was $60. Once he offered this I was taken back by his offer as I wasn't expecting it and was more expecting your typical mechanic who let you eat that unfair charges. This showed me that Kevin was customer service oriented and cared about providing good service. I also felt that Jeff's Auto Repair showed that they stand behind their Customer Service Satisfaction Guarantee. This shows that Kevin and Jeff's Auto Repair and staff weren't about poor customer service, nor about gouging or taking advantage of the customer, but rather about gaining customer's trust and keeping existing customers as well as gaining new ones by word of mouth. I am very happy to how this whole thing was handled and now I retract my comments about not taking my vehicles to Jeff's Auto Repair shops, Jeff's Auto Repair is an honest shop with honest people that wants to provide their customers with excellent work and guaranteed satisfaction, and I HIGHLY recommend them....Five Stars. My 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix failed the emissions test. In order to get a waiver, it was necessary to take it to a shop with a certified emission technician for diagnosis. Following a google search for a shop near me, I took it to Jeff's Automotive in Renton. Kevin was very personable and I was impressed with the office. The service took about an hour, at the conclusion of which I was given a list of recommended work with an estimate of about $1000, but my car, though a little rough, has never given me a moment's concern, besides which my son is an ASE Master mechanic and owns two full service garages in the area. However, they don't do emissions work and I needed that $150 (plus tax) waver. Leaving Jeff's Automotive, signed form in hand, I went back to the test station, retested, and got my waiver. So far, so good... Then I went home and picked up my 91-year-old mother to take her out for lunch. We dined near South Hill Mall and headed home just as the heat of the day was really coming on and the traffic on I5 was ramping up, as it does at 2:00 in the afternoon on a weekday. I drove west on Southcenter Blvd approaching I5 North and as I began to enter the on-ramp...the car just stopped running. As it has Never done before. I managed to coast to the right side of the road and came to a stop partially blocking the right lane; turned on my hazard lights, called a tow truck, informed the police of the hazard potential of my position, and got my mother with her cane out onto the sidewalk in case a car should hit my dead vehicle where it sat. The hot hour-long wait for the tow truck was interrupted when a road safety vehicle came and pushed my car farther along Southcenter Blvd so that I could pull off the road onto the shoulder, out of traffic. Shortly thereafter the AAA tow arrived and took us safely to my son's house. Half an hour later my son came home. I described the symptoms or rather lack thereof. He walked out, tried the ignition, then popped the hood for a look. There was the ignition control module, which is (supposed to be) held in place by a single 8mm hex screw, hanging loose, a full quarter inch of shiny, uncorroded screw visible and gleaming in the sun. No contact, no juice. We screwed it back into place and the car started immediately. It is running fine now. I don't know if this was a careless mistake on the part of Jeff's technician, or if it was an example of minor sabotage supporting an expensive diagnosis of 'necessary repairs'...all I know is that my car was and has been running reliably and consistently until the day I took it to Jeff's for an emissions diagnosis, not in need of work, and with no concerns for the way it was running. Had that hex screw been loose and hanging prior to today it would not have looked like brand new chrome, spotless as a polished mirror. It would have been at LEAST a little dirty and smudged like all the surrounding surfaces. I am a woman in my 60's, caring for my very elderly mother. I'm just very glad that I didn't make it onto I5 in the middle of heavy afternoon traffic before that ignition control module shook loose. *********** Update - Kevin responded immediately to the above review and left me two phone messages, genuinely mortified at what had occurred and more than willing to do whatever was necessary to make it right. After speaking with him I am convinced of his sincerity. I believe this was an accident/oversight which fortunately did not result in harm to anyone and is unlikely to happen again. In light of this, I am happy to upgrade my review to 4 stars. Outstanding customer service cannot be overvalued. Jeff's Automotive is fortunate to have Kevin as a service manager. read more

I've had Jeff's Auto work on four vehicles for me, and all of my experiences have been excellent. I own a 2000 Ford E350 van and a 2000 Dodge Dakota pickup that were both behaving like old cars when I switched from my previous auto mechanic to Jeff's Auto, even though I had been diligent about maintenance, tune-ups, and "check-engine light" repairs. Both vehicles had lost power as they aged, and the Dodge Dakota had even occasionally stalled at intersections after warm-up. Jeff's Auto absolutely delighted me by getting both vehicles running like new again without major engine rebuilding. Both required intense testing and troubleshooting, followed by a combination of numerous moderate fixes such as engine sensor replacements, valve adjustments, ignition system updates, and similar fixes. The total price (with all diagnosis and repair) was between $800 and $1100 for each. I am greatly enjoying having these vehicles back in perfect running condition, something I never thought I would see. I had a very similar experience with a 2005 Ford Focus that was chronically chugging during acceleration, and Jeff's fixed it perfectly at even lower cost, diagnosing and repairing a carburetor problem. Perhaps the most extraordinary service was my 2011 Subaru Outback (purchased used) that I took to Jeff's Auto after it began experiencing overheat issues. Jeff's Auto diagnosed it as a head-gasket failure, and said they could fix it, but they strongly encouraged me to see what the Subaru dealer could do for me even though the Outback was no longer covered by warranty (it was 6 month and 7000 miles beyond the warranty). They advised me that even though the Subaru warranty was expired, the problem was common enough that Subaru might still pay to fix it, or pay for part of it, if I brought the vehicle to a Subaru dealer for assessment. I took their advice, and Subaru did in fact pay for the majority of the repair, saving me $1000. Jeff's Auto really put me as the customer ahead of their business with their advice, and you cannot get any better than that. Jeff's has also done miscellaneous other brake jobs, tune-ups, and oil changes for me, and they have all been excellent work at fair prices. With their location a few blocks down the street from the world's best airplane company, many of their clients are experienced aerospace engineers and mechanics who drop their cars off for service during their work shifts. I'm guessing that this mechanically-minded clientele base has helped create the excellent, no-nonsense way that Jeff's Auto interacts with their customers, and influenced how they strive for perfection in their repairs. read more

Their safety inspection seemed to miss a brake leak, radiator crack and an oil leak. I did pay over $2000 for them to basically just flush fluids. Luckily I took my truck into meineke to have them do an oil change. And they noticed the problems and showed me exactly what was going on. I showed my receipt from Jeff's and they showed me were I was charged for a job that wasn't done. I did trust Jeff's as they come recommended to me. Definitely never again! read more

First off, i like to say that the shop looked very clean and organized, and the people there was very nice and courteous. I had my 2003 Honda CRV A/C system recharged by Jeff, and I think they did a good job. The only complaints I have was they forgot to replace my cap for the A/C hoses. It was very fortunate for me that I found the cap while checking my oil and screw the cap back on. I understand that they are a busy shop, but for them to forget this is unprofessional. They also gave me a list of recommended maintenance items. The only thing that I find questionable was automatic transmission flush. They told me that I needed new transmission fluid and this bothers me because I just replaced the fluids about four weeks ago. Once they told me that, i knew they weren't really looking out for me, but rather looking out for their own pocket book. I do most of my own car maintenance, and I am one of those people that is very skeptical of automotive repair shops. Would I recommend Jeff's Auto Repair? I would say yes, but I recommend that you arm yourself with knowledge about what type of work your car needs, so you can keep them honest. read more
