Big mistake going here. The owner quoted me a price including certificate then when it was time to pay he said price was $20 more. When I asked he said he never said the original price. Then he said he wouldn't charge me again if it didn't pass as long as I bring it back the same day and then he charged me another $40. Very dishonest and rude person. My car was very low so when he went into the car he was holding to the plastic cover of my dash and broker it. Then he said de didn't do it. Don't waste your time and money going there. My partner came in for a smog on a 1979 Dodge Fireball RV. We called yesterday to see if they could do it and we got an appointment for today. Right as he pulled into the bay, the RV ended up stalling and wouldn't start again. Charlie came out with a jumper, but that didn't help. My partner ended up walking to a nearby auto parts store and came up with a quick solution just to get it into the garage and back home. This was at 5:57 and they closed at 6. Charlie was patient and compassionate and still did the smog for $120 with the promise that we would return to him for all of our smog needs. Cannot thank Charlie enough. read more

Stay away. This guy is a complete joke. He is a scam artist and very dishonest. He is not a man of his word. Very unethical practices. Here's my backstory... I recently moved from Modesto to Turlock. For the last 25 years I have been going to the same place in Modesto. Great people and great prices. They always do a diagnosis check on the vehicle before even starting the smog test. They'll tell you within two minutes if the vehicle is going to pass or not so that you don't waste your money/time and they EARN YOUR TRUST. I took my truck there to get smog and as always they did the check prior to the smog. They notified me right away that my truck had the memory erased (just got a new battery) and I had to drive it for about 100 miles so it could program. Now, here comes my mistake. Turlock Speed Pass... somebody recommended this place to me... they told me that the smog was only $45 there. When I arrived the owner greeted me. He quickly connected the computer and all his devices. A couple of minutes later another person arrived and asked for the price. He told him it was $90. This caught me completely off guard. So I asked him if the price was $45. I told him I had been recommended. He interrogated me as to who told him as if it depended on whether it was somebody he knew. Then proceeded to tell me, "I give you good price, for you, only $62 my friend. I will give discount for $10 pay with cash + $8.95 for a certificate if pass." I felt bad as my truck was already connected. And didn't feel like driving 30 minutes to Modesto... I agreed. During the process he asked me to hand them a couple of things from his shop. Literally putting me to work. I felt uncomfortable with all that, however I felt bad for the guy and I was taught to respect my elders. During the check I repeatedly asked him if everything was OK and if the truck was going to pass. He kept saying, "Everything is OK, everything is good." He disappeared for about 5-8 minutes without saying anything and came back out. He hands me a paper to fill out with my information. I did as requested. He then takes me to the office and AGAIN I ask him if the truck passed and he tells me "Everything is OK, everything is good." Once I pay him $52 he tells me that the truck did not pass and that I have to drive it a little bit more so it can get programmed. He tells to come back after I drive it more and that he would only charge me $40 for a retest plus the $8.95 for a certificate. (My $52 would've been $60 had the truck passed.) I was completely appalled. I didn't wanna argue with the guy so I just paid them. After that I left the place and went straight to Modesto where I always get my smog. Back in Modesto, my guy connects his computer and within one minute tells me as he did the prior day, "The truck is not going to pass because of the sensors and the computer is not programmed yet. Drive it some more and bring it back to me tomorrow." I took it back the next day to my Modesto guys and the truck passed in 10 minutes. Only paid $40 with them. Take you money somewhere else. This Speed Pass is a complete rip off. Don't go here. Such a disappointment. read more

This place is a joke! I've had my vehicles smogged here with no problems whatsoever until last weekend. I waited for an hour and felt bad that it's a one man show and hot as hell, I even offered to go get him something cold to drink. When it came to my smog it passed like it always does except for a missing sticker for my cold air intake system which I've had on the car since I bought it in 2006 and it's always passed smog. He waits to tell me there's no sticker so I need to get one and have it retested for a total of $105. Find a better place that's not out to rip people off. He should've told me right from the start that it needs a sticker to pass even though they never asked about it before. When I arrived at 9:00 which is when he's supposed to be open he wasn't there. We then waited till 9:30 for him to show up I was the only one there waiting and was blown off for about 10 minutes. The guy was just very rude from the start and then claimed that I had a programmer on my vehicle before he opened the hood or even looked at the truck (which is a stock ranch truck). He then claimed that the exhaust blew smoke when the the pedal was pressed. The place is messy and had me wait on a couch that was falling apart. Just overall a bad experience. read more

I won't go back. I called and asked for a smog price. "For you 49.75." I asked if I needed a appointment and how long it would take. "About 10 minutes." Finding the place was difficult. It's tucked WAY in the back. I sit there and no one comes out. I'm physically disabled, and didn't want to go looking, so I called the guy. He scolded me for not following his hand gestures. I followed them. He simply didn't give them with any time for me to follow. Strike one. Then he asked if he had told me $49.75 over the phone. Strike two. Now I'm expecting to be screwed. "The certificate is a additional $8.25." Strike three. I go wait in the office. I see a sign saying there's a $25 fee if the text is interrupted/stopped because of mechanical problems. Frankly, I now expected one. (It didn't happen though.) He comes in, hands me a form with $68 listed as the quoted price and tells me not to worry about it. The car passes. I go to pay. "That will be an additional $2 to process your card." Really? Two dollars? He's filling out the paperwork and says the processing fee is $3. I'm getting angry now. The fee went up in 45 seconds? Then he tells me he will give it to me for what he said. Now I have no idea what the bill will be. I've been notified by my bank that a $58 fee has been processed. This would be $10 off the "regular" price. At this time, the card fee is missing. I don't know if it will be processed later or not. Regardless, I'm very unhappy with my experience. read more

He talks like he's giving you a good deal if he knows you don't know much about cars, but it's bc he knows he's scamming you. You really ought to refund the 50+ dollars you charged me sir, bc you and I both know you did nothing to deserve it, and were in fact planning to try and take me for more and more. My dad informed me after I got back from this place that he didn't actually do something he claimed he had done and the reason he didn't do it was so that he could continue to string me along for more. So dishonest. So I found someone else who is actually really helping me now, but stay away from this guy. Haven't gotten any service here but I did call to ask about a smog check. He gave me a price. When I told him that I also found a coupon he said he'd give me more money off than the coupon said. When he gave me the final price, it was higher than before the coupon. He then cut the conversation short and curtly told me to "have a good day, sir." It was clear that there was some dishonesty going on, but I never found out what. No smog station should be so tricky to deal with when it comes to pricing. read more

Worst experience at a smog shop I have ever had. The owner was nothing but a pain to work with. He made me spend hundreds of dollars for a part I did not need. After getting the part he still made everything as hard as possible. He blames his mishandling of paperwork on me and said i was wrong and he was right. I know nothing about cars but this place makes everything super easy. The owner is very sweet and friendly. He doesn't waste my time like the other places I have previously been to. The shop is open on Saturdays and most holidays, which is great because I don't have to miss work to smog my car. All of my friends take their cars to this shop and we have never had any issues. I highly recommend this place if you're a busy person and want to check things off your list quickly. read more
