I took my Toyota scion for an oil change and tune up! I also had them to do an inspenction if theres anything else to get fixed since my motor light turned on a few days back! All was great took only 45 min $225.00 ish thought was ok (fair). They night driving the car back from work the car started smoking on the freeway I had to stop and check the engine to see wassup! Turned out the Radiator cap was half way closed! Whaaaaaat! Theres 2 things: 1) the mechanic didnt know how to closed the tap on the Radiator "most unlikely" or 2) the mechanic malicefully left it like that so I could have the water drained and end up with no water on the motor (overheated) which would be terrible and/or have to take the car back to him to get it fixed in which he only had to put water on the RADIATOR and turn the cap fully closed! Since Bob has sold the business to a former employee (but is still around), a couple things: 1. They finally have a computer system so can track repair and service history with vehicles. + 2. Had an oil change, but defective filter that leaked oil on my driveway. They diagnosed and replaced filter promptly. 3. I strongly dislike that the new owner adds a 4% surcharge for paying with credit card. Surcharge OK, but 4% is too high. That drops my rating to 4 stars. read more

Then I saw a Coupon for a Competitor for a Smog Check for $29,95 plus the Certificate . So I rolled there where they said that price wasn't for my Vehicle and they wanted $48 more to Smog my Vehicle . I looked at the Guy and Laughed in his face and told him nice try . See Ya wouldn't want to be you and left that crook in a cloud of Dust and rolled out . I went to my old stand by Smog Shop and talked to Bob . Bob was straight forward a quoted me a price of $58.20 this was the out the door price for the Smog Check, Evap -Check and Smog Certificate Bob explained the Smog Certification Procedure required for my Year Vehicle . This place is a complete and total rip off. I've had to bring my car for the same issue multiple times & the owner, Bob claims they did the work but the brakes never got done & the the oil change as well. Another time we were the first ones there & because we left the shop he took other people before us, when we came to pick the car up since it was almost closing & no one called us or answered, he said he forgot the car was there so nothing was done. He then had the audacity to say if we wanted the work done he would have to charge us 140.00 for overtime for his error!!He gets over and overcharges for a shi* job. If you don't want a shady mechanic who lies & takes your money DO NOT GO THERE! I needed a smog check and looked on Yelp for recommendations in the San Leandro area. Quality Tune-Up came up as a top contender. I pulled up the website and read the hours and services. I'm irritated because I got my ass up early to take my car in for its smog check but when I got to the counter there was a sign that said no smog checks today. WTF. Hm. There was no mention on the website so when I asked ...I guess the owner ...he just said yea no smog checks. (Thanks, yea I read that). The guy in front of me told me the sign has been there for months. Ok right... a place known for its test only smogs but don't do them. But wait for it though......he didn't even give me an estimate to when I could bring the car back for an inspection. I tell ya customer service at its finest. NOT. read more

Again I cannot thank Bob and Joe enough for their exceptional service! Today I had my rear right brake caliper replaced b/c it was leaking. I was also informed that I needed a new car battery & was only charged $25 to replace it. The battery I bought at O'Reilly Auto Parts in April was defective. After I went to that store on E14 & told them my car was at Bob's, the manager put his burrito down, immediately called Bob to confirm, spoke really highly of him & his trustworthiness, & had O'Reilly staff drop off a new one to Quality. So, again I was gifted a 2001 Nissan Maxima that has needed repair after repair since I started driving it in March. I've had new brake pads, suspensions, radiator & probably something else I can't remember installed here at very reasonable prices. Every time I call & or show up, I am given excellent customer service & prices are broken down w/labor costs clearly. These are really honest gentlemen who aren't trying to steal your money (unlike the dealership I went to last month. Hayward Nissan tried to charge me $500-550 for my rear caliper.) Ya know how much I was charged at Bob's Quality? $198.29 + tax! I also met another customer who's been going to Bob's for 13 yrs. He brought one car in yesterday, another one today and recommends Bob to everyone. I do too! Called at 8AM they told me it was a hour wait for oil change. I arrived here at 8:08AM and i seen 3 employees to busy to talk to me while I wait to tell them I need a oil change which took 15 mins for them to realize. My estimated wait time was a hour because 3 people were ahead of me. It took over 2 hours to do a oil change. I'm never coming back here. Poor customer service and slow work. This spot deserve a 0 star if possible. My sister and I have been coming here for quite sometimes now since we have a business down the block. So I came here on 09/04/2020 for an oil change. Since my sister knew the owner Bob, he gave me a discount. It was 65$ flat out the door. It took an hour to get my oil change done which was pretty normal considering they were sort of busy. The person that worked on my car did such a lousy job. He didn't properly screw up the lugs so my skid plate was hanging beneath my car. As soon as I got on the freeway and stepped the gas I heard metal scrape and knew something was wrong instantly. I had to exit and call a friend to come by to take a look. My whole skid plate was crumbled up & hanging under my car. Unbelievable. As soon as we took off the plate I brought it back to Bob, which is the owner to show him. No further question asked he knew they were at the wrongs. I gave him my contact information and he said he would contact me after ordering the parts. So I am roaming around with no skid plate.. A week later he called me back in to get it replaced. The same person that worked on my car the first time is doing the job again. Okay, maybe first time was a mistake and it should be alright. It took him about 2 hours just to put the screws and jugs back on. Since the air quality was so bad I didn't really taking my car anywhere until today. Guess what? The same problem is happening again! My plate is hanging beneath my car with the screws hanging on it. They are very unprofessional. How can you mess up twice? I tried to give them a second chance but they had failed me. I do not recommend this spot to anyone. They are not thorough and keep repeating the same mistakes. They messed up twice, so I am not going to take my chance for the third time. I hope next time they work on another's person car they will take it more serious and get things done properly than half- a**. read more

Bob is aggressive and almost overcharged me 150$ to help fix my passenger window. It fell off the track and i tried to put the window back on but i wasnt able to. When he told me my total $250 i thought wow how can that be? It wasnt until i told him that i knew the window didnt need that much work that he 'remembered' that i didnt need the extra part he ordered. So be aware of your car before you come in just in case. Great service! For a smog, I was out in 30 minutes (even though there were customers ahead of me), and they gave me their coupon price when I only had another city's coupon. I can see why the parking lot was full of customers. All of the good reviews are true. No matter bow busy they were, they are couteous and take the time to talk to you. I've heard them joke around with their regulars. Bob was there and when I interrupted him to ask how long I'd have to wait (while he was in the middle of working on a car, and asking an employee to do something), he was nice enough to stop, check what status my car is at and gave me an accurate estimate.
