He's male so I doubted they'd try to put anything over on him.) I was advised that I'd get a phone call telling me what repairs were needed. When they called I held my breath. I had a great experience with Boulevard Auto. Scheduling was really easy, and when I brought my car in for an oil change and tune-up, they got everything taken care of pretty quickly. I appreciated how they treated me like a priority and kept the process straightforward. I drive a hybrid, so I didn't realize it still needed many of the same regular maintenance items as a traditional car. They explained what needed to be done, took care of the fluids, and took care of my car and fixed a check engine light that turned out to be caused by a bad sensor. I used to like going to Blvd. Auto for repairs oil changes etc. Fahad is a great guy but hired some kid that's overcharging people. I went in to get a COUPLE bulbs changed and it was over 400 bucks! Plus he broke the emergency exit latch in the trunk. The car is over 10 years old so those few bulbs weren't much at the local parts store. I even called back to complain about the price but didn't want to start talking "construction talk" to his seems like co owner because when that guy started everything went bad. read more

Worst experience. They don't know how to fix Prius 2010 and charging $1000 for diagnosis - crazy! Mechanic said he googling information and reading forums about my issue. My story: my Prius 2010 started showing me error message Check hybrid system. Boulevard auto estimated the diagnosis for $125. Few hours later they called and told me that they pretty sure the problem with engine and it will be expensive repair, but they need MORE time for diagnosis, and "BOSS" said that diagnosis charge might be $1000 to check everything and find real problem. Can you imagine? $1000 for diagnosis, car price $3000. I told them that it's not worth it and I want car back if they don't know what to do and googling information. But "BOSS" told me that he want to charge me $65 anyway for time they spent (did nothing useful for me, was just googling and making predictions). I paid $65 and took car to Greentech Auto (few blocks away). Guy was able to find the problem in 15 minutes and told me it's regular fuel sensor, he fixed it 20 minutes later car was running great ($150 paid). Can you imagine?? $1000 for absolute unprofessionalism or $150 for 15 minutes easy fix. Do not go here, they just want money and do not know how to fix such a popular car as Prius. When I finally got my car back, it was covered with grease, both inside and out. There was grease or oil on the steering wheel, on the floor of the driver's seat, and on the outside front body. They failed to put paper covers down as is standard for any auto shop. I went back to tell them about this and they refused to compensate me. I strongly recommend not going to this place. In response to your reply below, The reason why I didn't accept your offer was I just don't want to leave my car there again. I noticed the grease stains immediately but I didn't go back until a week later because I am extremely busy at work and can't usually go there during business hours. Now I have to go to a car wash and pay $50 to get it cleaned up. I think it was perfectly reasonable of me to ask (politely as I did) to pay for a car wash. **COVID-19 Review** Just recently moving to Castro valley, I am trying to find my local mechanic. However I did not have any issues with my car, was just looking for an synthetic oil change. Yes it was just an oil change but you can tell a lot about a mechanic on how they handle the small jobs. I reached out via yelp to get a quote. Fahad responded to me very quickly! He directed me to their website where I filled out the form. I had a few questions on what type of synthetic oil they use. They use Motul oil in case you are wondering. I was able to book everything online with out ever having to pick up the phone! I dropped my car off at 8:30am and the car was ready before noon! Mind you the shop was packed, there was no parking. I had no issues, the price was fair. Fahad was friendly and responsive. Overall pretty good customer experience, the shop looks like it was really busy. Which means they must be good. Because there are quiet a few auto shops on their street. Most of them look pretty empty. TLDR:Got an oil change, was able to book online. No issue speedy service. read more

Adding another update to my previous review -- the car started stuttering and the check engine light came on. The diagnostic showed an issue related in incorrect oil viscosity. It turns out Boulevard Auto used the incorrect weight of oil when they did the oil change at the same time they did the incomplete repair to our front suspension (i.e. not the oil weight specified in the manual). We will not be using them again and will be filing a complaint with the Bureau of Automotive Repair. read more

The guy today was uncaring as possible to the point of being disrespectful. I just purchased a car from Rose Motorcars in Castro Valley. I found out after I purchased the vehicle that the horn didn't work. I pointed out to the guy who sold me the car that it is a safety hazard NOT to have a working horn. OK, they say bring it in to our shop at Boulevard Auto at 9am today which I did. I arrive in very casual attire, shorts and t-shirt. So, I inform the guy at the counter that I am dropping off a car with a 9am appointment. He says, "I don't know when it will get done, so don't stay around at the shop". No mention of a shuttle, nada. I also ask for a receipt for drop off to which he answers, "We will call the Rose Motorcars and they will call you". I retort, "It's my car, why wouldn't you call me first even though you have to bill them? Which totally makes sense" After a couple rounds of back and forth with him, he gives me an invoice and he takes my phone number. Man that BS frustrates the H-E double hockey sticks outta me. Is it because I drove in with a Chevrolet product?! Dude you need to get another job out of the customer service industry. So, now I have to figure out a way home to upscale San Ramon where they know how to treat people with respect. I'm upset that I have to figure it out and make a call to Rose Motorcars...no answer...opens at 10am. Expletive...expletive...expletive. I walk from the shop to the Castro Valley BART station and take it to West Dublin, where I then call an Uber for a ride home. Guess that is the reason I have four Lexus cars under my name. Even if I bring my Lexus to Toyota, they offer a shuttle home. All in all, a frustrating day at an independant shop in CV. In response to Fahad: 1. I had no attitude, just said I had a 9am appointment. Only attitude after I was given poor service and had to figure out my own transportation. 2. Guy was dead silent. No courteous offer to say, "Do you need a ride somewhere?" I shouldn't have to ask and if a ride is what you offer, you should post a sign! 3. Even if another shop is paying for a service, I am the customer who owns the vehicle. The number one priority in customer service is to serve the customer in front of you with courteousness and respect. Build rapport , not dissension. 4. You state that you are "sorry" but go on to defend yourself, your staff and your shop does not sound like an apology. 5. Fahad was not at the shop this morning and yet he is trying to make a judgement call against me stating I had an attitude. OK, if stating that, "I have a 9am appointment" can bring a judgement call that I" had an attitude" from someone that wasn't there, what's wrong here? 6. He not only jumped me he remained hooked up to my battery for a bit longer to get more juice. Most places I have had the experience getting jumps from try just once and calm it a night. Boulevard Auto was my mechanic for three years. They serviced three of my vehicles. They put the wrong rotors and pads on the brakes on one of my vehicles. This was discovered when I took my vehicle to a shop that specializes in brakes. And I also took my vehicle to the dealership. They both came to the same conclusion. I sued Boulevard Auto at the Superior Court of California County of Alameda Hayward Hall of Justice and won. Boulevard Auto appealed the case. They didn't show up. They lost the case and I was awarded the cost to repair the damage they caused and an additional $1k. They are now refusing to honor the Notice of Entry of Judgment that was entered on October 6, 2022, against them. read more

Avoid this place at all costs! Our motor blew on our 2002 Audi and we, unfortunately, had it towed here during off hours. We received a call from the owner/manager the next business day saying the engine was toast. I asked for them to get some prices to replace the engine and they quoted us almost $5,000. I was a bit shocked and decided to call around only to find almost every other shop I called quoted me close to half the price as this shop. I then did some more digging and found used motors with almost half the miles for half the price, but the shop manager said they don't allow outside parts. They obviously control the parts so they can make everything up. Oh but wait there is more. This shady ass shop decided to put a lean on our car without notifying us. We left the car there for a couple extra days and instead of calling us and being an honest reputable business owner they jacked our freaking car. So now we get to go down there with Alameda county sheriffs and our lawyer tomorrow. We just wanted our car fixed and these crooks have done everything to screw us over since we walked in the door. But when I then showed up with a coupon I was told that the coupon required a next day appointment. They took full responsibility for the mixup and I was able to get my oil change with the manager's special discount. Service was friendly and prompt. Clear communication regarding services performed. Made an actual appointment for a simple oil change. Casually mentioned the check engine light was on, but was not overly concerned about it. I explicitly and emphatically stated do not run a diagnostic and charge me for it unless they could fix it that day. Get a call almost two hours later stating they could not do oil change because they were afraid to remove an after market oil pan plug (for any true mechanic this would be so simple). Go to pick up car, they say I owe $28 for a diagnostic and "checking fluids" - services I never asked for and even forbid. Why TF wouldn't you assess the requested oil change first??? Ultimately they would not return my key and hijacked the car. I reluctantly paid for the sake of children present even though I could of left because I can and did start the car otherwise. After a quick search I decided to bring my car here to get a check up. My car had been sitting in a garage for about 4 years as I was living outside the bay area. I contacted Boulevard Auto looking to effectively get all systems flushed. They weren't able to give me a quote over the phone, but it makes sense as they really couldn't be sure of the cars condition. I brought my car in and left it for them to take a look over. They took a few hours, but contacted me that my car was available for pick up and that I just needed an oil change, new wiper blades, and a battery. Pros and cons list next. Pros: - *Very* responsive and quick to return messages - From what I saw, shop was kept clean. Love seeing that upkeep and pride in the tools for their craft - Didn't BS me for service. I was ready to pay much more for a full systems flush, but they didn't try to one over me. - Charged the battery in the vehicle currently to test for battery life Cons: - Only one I could think of is that I would have liked a call before they did an oil change as I was under the assumption that they'd give me a ring for what was needed before starting work. I could have been clearer here, so this is somewhat on me. Overall, I would definitely come back here for my automotive needs in the future. This place definitely try to rip people off, I walked in for a quote(4 cylinder valve adjust,1.5 HOUR labor) and a mechanic who talks like the owner and looks like an Indian looks up his all data program to find out the labor, then he told me that I'm look about 800 dollars, I was shocked and I asked that guy again "for the valve adjust only" he said yes, I left with very disappointed. I'm a self proclaimed do it yourselfer when it comes to cars and these guys have always came to the rescue when the issue is beyond my YouTube knowledge . I need to a new place for service my cars and oil change. I read reviews on Yelp. Decided to give them a chance. Called and the owner answered. Very friendly and easy to talk to. My truck had been leaking oil on the hot days. I told them what I thought it might be. I brought the truck in and was meet by Will at the front. Another great encounter. Very nice, informative, and overall great customer service. They called me within the hour to let me know what they felt the issue was. Said they would make a small adjustment to a loose filter and gasket with my oil change and call me back to see if what they thought the issue maybe. Less than an hour later Will called me back and said everything was good. And since the issue was a super easy adjustment I was just to pay for my oil change. I'm very happy with my 1st experience here. And I will be bringing back my other car with a similar issue to have them examine. On top of it all the oil change cost was very comprehensive and affordable to where I was taking my car before. Came in for an oil change. They took their time with me, answered my questions, pointed out some items that need attention (tire wear, manual transmission fluid, brakes). On the brakes, I was told I should replace within a week; they wanted a fair amount for the replacement job. I took to my regular mechanic the next day for another opinion and was told I had much more left - several months before worrying about changing.
