If you want good work at a fair price from an honest professional mechanic, you can trust Mike. I've been coming to Spectrum Auto since before Mike bought the place. You can rely on him. I'm glad there's a place like this in Marin. If I moved to SF or Vallejo, I'd still come back here. read more

Mike is very honest and does great work at very good prices. Can't say enough about how i regretted not taking my car to him sooner. The Toyota dealer charges much more and seems to find more things wrong. Mike is quick and efficient. read more

Tessie Tahoe has modern brakes! I recently got my '66 mustang convertible transported from LA, due to my dad (original owner) neglecting her during covid. The biggest concern was finding a place I can trust to competently install modern disc brakes on a 55 y/o car. Look no further than SPECTRUM! Mike was awesome in accommodating Tessie in his garage while parts were being ordered and then getting her set up for the next chapter of her 55 y/o life---Northern California cruisin'! (safely). I'm now super impressed how the brakes feel and feel much more confident about driving up and down 101 w/o brake anxiety. I highly recommend Spectrum, especially if you have a classic car that needs some care. Thanks Mike & crew! read more

Spectrum Automotive - Auto Repair Near Me - San Rafael, California

Trustworthy and honest! I learned of Mike and Spectrum via reviews on Next Door, where folks posted glowing reviews. My experience was spot on to what others had noted: Mike is super responsive and helpful. Spectrum is now my go-to for car maintenance and repairs. read more

If you like your car, don' even consider exposing it to this company. I have had 3 terrible experiences with their incompetency and it has cost us over $9,000 for repairs that became necessary because of their mistakes. The last one was on a classic motor we paid to be rebuilt and they put the wrong size pushrod in with the correct ones and blew up the engine. We found the wrong part and metal shavings in the oil pan when we tore down the engine after driving it just 3 miles. They act like they know what they are doing, and maybe an oil change could be ok but for anything else just keep driving. Your car is at risk for major damage if you don't. read more

This man is honest as honest can be. After making several calls and trying to figure out what to do with my car, I called here because of the reviews. I do not even think he knows of this reviews. It was 5 mins to 5:00 pm and he answered. He took time to get a tow truck to me since my car had stopped. The next day he called to let me know what was wrong with my car. He was so attentive and detailed. This was the original problem I was told before. He went above and beyond to apologize on a second call because on the first call he did not see my car had another problem. He wanted to keep the broken part for me to see it. I knew he was right because the noise my car was doing was related to the part. He fixed the car. What else can I say, about this place? Thank you to all of you who reviewed him, because I found this great mechanic and shop. read more

My friend recommended I take my lexus here, since my repair man is always swamped and takes a few days to get work done on the car. I brought my car in at 8am and they got me a shuttle to take me home & back, as it was going to take all day to work on my car. I got the 90k service, 2 new tires installed, and brakes & rotors replaced. Mike told me exactly what needed to be changed and did not push me to do anything & he even charged less than wheel works wanted to charge me for the brakes. Mike is a respectable, honest, no-nonsense mechanic, & his guys did a great job on my car. read more

Mike is the bomb. My folks have been bringing their cars here for years and my mom and I both have stories that show why Mike rocks. I had a light out in my car and he changed it no problem and on him, telling me the only thing my car next in the next 50,000 is spark plugs, oil, and tires. For my mom, when he realized he couldn't rotate her tires for her, (to new and specialized of a Mercedes), he told her and didn't charge her. It is nice to be two women in a car place and feel really well taken care of. Obviously going to get my plugs! read more

Spectrum is a quality shop! They are always honest, efficient & thorough. We have been bringing our BWM cars here for years & will continue to do so. I can count on them to make sure my cars are safe on the road. Weaver's house roasted coffee shop is right down the road. Walk down Louise St. towards the highway. It's on the left near the corner. Perfect cup of coffee while you wait. ;) read more

It's so hard to find a car repair shop you can trust. Mike and the crew at Spectrum Automotive have been my trusted mechanics for over 10 years. Great customer service and honesty. What more can you ask for from a car repair business? read more

Mike is great--he tells it to you straight and if you need something replaced or fixed he is truthful about it. Doesn't try to up-sell other services that are not necessary. Very nice people here. Kind of sketch location and not a great lobby, but it's an auto repair shop! Overall, would go to him for any problem I have--they are great and get the job done in a reasonable amount of time. read more

I am sooo glad that I was introduced to this place by a coworker. I had gotten a $4,000, or was it $6,000, quote for a repair on my car :( I was so upset and even began looking into buying a new car. I told a coworker about my dilemma and he suggested that I take my care to Spectrum and ask for Mike. Mike repaired my car for under $1,000. This is the only place we take our cars to now. If we ever move from Marin I am not sure what we are going to do. It is so difficult to find an honest and good mechanic, especially if you do not know much about cars. I highly recommend this place. read more

My sister recommended Mike to me after I had a few follies trying to find a good honest car service place in San Rafael for my Saab. I have now been taking my car to Mike for 3 years and have always received superb service. Super knowledgeable and very honest I know my car is in good hands when I drop it off for servicing and repair, and it is great how quickly the turnaround time is for getting my car back. I highly, highly recommend Mike and Spectrum automotive. I'm very grateful my sister told me about them! read more

My wife and I have been loyal customers of Spectrum ever since we left the City 16 years ago! Mike is an honest, down-to-earth mechanic who always goes out of his way to let you know exactly what's wrong, what the repair will cost, what your options are and how long it will take. Our cars are both 17 years old now - they are in great shape because of Mike's great work at a totally fair price. read more

I have already left a review for Mine and all the guys at Spectrum fir the great and reliable job they did for me the first time. However I had a major problem with my electrical system just recently. Knowing I have financial restriction and knowing how much I rely on my van mike went way out of his way to do a major computer and electrical reinstall all on his own in order to keep the costs down to something within my affordable range. Mike really is a man with integrity and empathy. I really feel good knowing my property Is looked after by mike and his guys read more

Best mechanic shop in Marin. I have been bringing my cars here for about 15 years and they never do more work than is needed to get me on the road again. Very honest about what needs to be done and what can wait to be fixed down the road. Sent my girlfriend here and she was thrilled to get a lower estimate for the work needed on her Camry. Highly recommend this shop!!! read more

Thank god for Mike and his crew! Finally a solid mechanic that shoots straight! Great, honest guy, always makes me happy to see his smiling face. If it needs fixing or replacing, he'll tell you. If it can wait, or isn't serious, he won't try and up sell you & won't be dramatic about it. Now my boyfriend takes his car here, and my roommates too. Thanks Mike! read more

A reliable, honest mechanic can be the challenge to find. I've been using Spectrum Automotive for over 25 years and they have withstood the test of time. First Nick, and now Mike continue to offer fair prices, an honest opinion and quality work. Free courtesy shuttle is available. Thanks for keeping my car humming and me safe on the road. read more

Very expensive place, poor customer service, careless attitude, lack of thoroughness. I would never go back.

Good old-fashioned honest service. Mike's tells it to you straight-up and does what's necessary without trying to push things you don't need. Mike's also gone way out of his way to help in a few situations when emergencies came up. I've always been very satisfied with the work they've done and this is now the only shop I go to. I highly recommend Mike and his crew! read more

Found Spectrum on Japan Motors recommendation. I am so happy with my repairs. Mike is very honest and accommodating. He repaired my Tahoe after I spent a ton of money elsewhere and it still would die. This is a great find. Would give 10 stars if I could. read more

I had a noise in my right front area almost every time I turned the steering wheel. I brought it to a brake and tire shop nearby and they told me to wait until the noise got really loud.
