Reviews are all true. Went in for an oil change before a road trip, but had a brake issue pop up right as I pulled into their parking lot. Keith pulled it into their driveway and had a preliminary diagnosis on the brake issue within five minutes. Put the car on the lift, and confirmed the issue within twenty minutes, all while doing the oil change while I waited. Suzanne is the Service Advisor, she's an absolute gem. If you're their for just a quick service, she'll make sure you're well attended to and not lonely during your wait. Didn't bat an eye when I told them I do most of my own work - no judgement, still happy to work on my car. Keith is a solid dude that will take care of your car like his own, and he works with some like-minded people who truly care.  Go see them. read more

I know it says five stars, but think TEN stars for this service organization and in particular for it's steward, Jack Neuhaus. It's now been about 17 years since I first took my then-new Lexus RX hybrid to Jack, and now, over 200,000 miles later, it's still going strong, largely in part to Jack's expertise and care. Quick anecdote. Today Jack went above and beyond to ensure that my baby passed her smog check - and refused to charge me for any of the service he performed to get her there. What REALLY makes me love the guy is that while I was waiting for Jack to help me, he was fixing a problem for ANOTHER regular client - whom he also refused to charge anything for. I know he's in the business to make a living, but really, Jack treats his regular customers like family - maybe even better than family, as friends. Here's the essence of this business: Honest. Fair prices. Fixes what it can and lets you know what it can't. Really nice owners. Always ready to take your vehicle when they say they will. in 17 years always has my vehicle ready when promised. Never a surprise extra charge. Always a friendly greeting from Jack or Valerie or both. See the rating he has overall? The service here is top flight and 100% honest, even after the ownership switch from Jack Neuhaus to ATS a few years ago. I have been a customer for over 15 years, and my 2000 Maxima and 1993 Honda del Sol are humming along beautifully. ATS never charges for unneeded repairs, and OFTEN have charged me less than their estimate. Mechanics Keith and Bob have even given me tips on how to do interior trim fixes myself. Car savvy Suzanne who works the front desk spent hours helping me find parts and expertise for my nearly classic del Sol. When I checked 6 months ago, the ATS hourly rate was $33/hour less than AAA (whose mechanics are not as well trained). Early this year, I mistakenly took my car to another local shop (AAA) with a high Yelp review at that time. I received an invoice for ball joint repair and spark plug replacement costing close to $2000. The car manual said the spark plugs should have at least 30K more miles, so I was dubious. I brought my car to ATS, who actually pulled a spark plug, and inspected the ball joints. "Absolutely no issue with either one," said ATS who provided 12 supporting photos. ATS is simply the most honest and reliable auto repair shop I've ever worked with in 40+ years of car ownership. read more

I found ATS through other great reviews of ATS on Yelp. My car heat wasn't working. Suzanne at ATS was truthful right away as to what ATS might be able to fix, and where to go if her shop could not help. With her input, my problem was solved very quickly. Too often, I call a place, just to make an appointment, just to look at a problem, drop it off, wait a day, to find out what's next. This time I called ATS and got quick answers, quick service, and and car heat! My recommendation: try them and see for yourself. GIve them a call - and ask if and how they can help you. Yes not all problems are this easy. I value honesty, ease of getting in, and expertise, so I'll be calling them again next time my car needs something. PS Price was right, too! read more

RE: Prius headlight bulbs replaced here. Skill level: expert. This rating is due to all aspects of interaction with Jack Neuhaus, original owner and proprietor. Jack called me back after I left a message and gave me an accurate time and cost estimate (1/4th the cost that the Novato Toyota Dealership quoted me, and no overnight wait) over the phone. He cited his experience with the bulbs when I called back to express my concern and explain these are not ordinary, accessible, ergonomic headlamps like other cars have. He replaced the bulbs in both headlamps with expertise and efficiency. The bays were full, he had other employees working on cars, and he was able to fit in this fix, working under the hood of my car parked facing the mechanic bays. He made a very challenging task look easy. The Prius HiD headlight bulb is one of the toughest items to access in the vehicle (i mean hey I have assisted my pops in replacing the auxiliary battery, when the Toyota dealership wanted to charge me an arm and a leg- easy peasy in comparison). The Bulb-replacing requires strong fingers with dexterity to work the release clips in the plastic housing without breaking the plastic, experience with twisting the (usually cranky and stubborn) plastic cap behind the unit without snapping off the prone-to-snapping-off-fins, and especially pinching the tension-spring loaded u-pin to release the old bulb, flipping the wire, and then securing the new bulb, which proves more challenging than the release. All this is done without seeing the u-pin latch and most of the entire puzzle at all. Even with a telescopic LED-lit mirror, you cannot see the area your tired fingers and pinched wrist struggle at, to accomplish the complicated movement. So: put down your screwdrivers and useless pliers and headlamp, and let an expert be the expert. My complements to Jack Neuhaus. read more

I can not recommend Jack Neuhaus enough. I found him through searching for a reliable mechanic here on Yelp, and my experience was so good that I will only go to him from here on out. My car was making an awful noise, but I didn't have the words to describe it well to him. I tried my best. As a woman without a good understanding of how cars work, I have often felt intimated going to mechanics because I don't know who to trust and I don't like being "mansplained" to. Jack never made me feel that way. He took the time to help me understand the issue with my car was and the correct vocabulary around it. He also gave me multiple options on how to fix my car. My car is older, so he took the time to research a used part option that works perfectly well for my situation--this saved me hundreds of dollars on the repair vs. going with a new part. My a/c coincidentally went out just a day before I went in to get the new part put on, and though his schedule was full, he agreed to keep my car an extra day and squeezed me in his schedule to get that repair done so I would not have to go back and forth to pick up/drop of my car. ATS @ Neuhaus Service is a total life saver! I was having some car trouble with my 2009 Acura TSX and was totally freaking out, this place was very close by my job and so I decided to swing by and see if they could help me, which they totally did! When I pulled up, I was greeted by two technicians, Gelver and Keith. They were super nice and gave me a quick run down of what could be going on with my car. I then went into the little office that they had, where I was greeted by a lady named Suzanne, she was super sweet and set up and appointment for me. I left my car there for a few hours, and then boom it was all fixed and was not making the scary noises it was when I dropped it off in the morning. I have been to many mechanics and technicians before, but not one was as fast and nice as the techs at ATS!!! read more

It was late at night when my car broke down. My transmission totally blew. I took it to him and he was very nice and looked over my car completely to make sure there wasn't any other Associated problems. He did some research to find out how much it would place to have my transmission replaced. Always friendly on the phone always helpful had good advice. Ultimately I had to decide not to do the transmission because it cost more than my car did at that time. But the service that I got there was incomparable. Wonderful group of guys. He was very helpful put my car inside at night when I wasn't able to drive it. If I needed further assistance I would definitely go to him. It's easy to see why he get such high ratings. As someone who doesn't know anything about cars it can be a little daunting trying to find a new mechanic. I am so so happy I came here! ATS @ Neuhaus Service is NOT Neuhaus! The amazing Jack Neuhaus is retiring, sold his business/customer base, and is wrapping up his part time/transition work March/April 2023. So all those prior great reviews - completely misleading now. I sincerely hope ATS gets great reviews going forward, but for us for now, it was a DISASTER. Our car engine was starting up but only after longer than usual cranking, and then it just shut off a couple times in our driveway. So we drove it in to what we thought was Neuhaus, and even suggested to them that maybe the alternator was failing. But they did a bunch of other stuff including selling us a new battery. Ten days later, the engine shuts off suddenly on the freeway, obviously creating a dangerous situation. Fortunately we manage to pull over safely - and have it towed back to NOT Neuhaus. This time ATS says, yeah it actually is the alternator. They do give us a discount for the obvious headaches, and we think we're done. But it's still not driving right and feeling like it might fail again. This time we take it to another shop - where we learn there was a loose cable on the alternator installation! So there you have it - three trips to the shop instead of one, extra cost/headaches, a dangerous fail on the highway. Thanks a lot. Hope you figure things out ATS (aka NOT Neuhaus)! read more

This was one of the most pleasant experiences I have ever had with a mechanic. Not having much knowledge about cars, I am careful with selecting a mechanic so as not to get taken advantage of. I have a mechanic in Sonoma that I have gone to for years but my car broke down in Mill Valley and I didnt want to tow it all the way to Sonoma. So I looked up the closest Prius mechanics and Jack had great reviews. He let me drop it off there on a Sunday and talked to me on the phone about what the issues were that I was experiencing with the car. He then called me back on Monday and let me know that he couldnt do anything to fix my car since the problem was with the Hybrid battery not the regular battery and he didnt have the training to do that sort of work, so I would have to take it to the dealership. But he let me keep my car there for a few days until I could get to the dealership and then charged me nothing for the initial inspection. He really earned my trust and I will go back there for any future car service. read more

It seems unfortunate that these days, finding a trustworthy mechanic who understands & values clients and delivers at providing the best experience is a rarity. As a new customer, Jack was patient, beyond polite, and completely willing to work with me after explaining to him my crazy schedule. I just moved to the area and purchased an older Toyota 4runner recently, hence the search for finding that forever mechanic commenced. As a young female that is incredibly intimidated by mechanics due to past experiences, the search has been difficult. Then came in Jack and Valerie. I called Valerie and spoke to her about a leak I was encountering but also to establish a mechanic relationship for my recently purchased used vehicle. Right away, I could tell that I found my place just based off the conversation with Valerie. She was able to squeeze me in with Jack to make sure that the leak wasn't going to aggravate any future damage to the vehicle. I do all my auto maintenance work myself and I will take on some repair work beyond my experience level to avoid taking my car to a mechanic. I found Neuhaus by accident and I have used his service twice for repairs that were more than I could handle at the time. I am not easy to please but I have been satisfied with his service and he gave me some good advice on future repair work that I told him I would be doing myself. If I have a work that is best performed with a lift and I am just not feeling up to it I won't hesitate to use Neuhaus again. I think that says a lot. read more

I had both car batteries die the same day. I drove into Neuhaus Service 10 minutes before the opened without an appointment. They didn't have my truck battery in stock, so he said to come back in 90 minutes. I came back in an hour and he swapped it out in 11 minutes. So I drove home and picked up my car, which also needed a new battery. He had that one in stock. It took him 10 minutes to swap out that one, AND he repaired my hood release AND checked all of 5 of my tires air pressure since the TPMS warning light was illuminated indicating "Low Tire Pressure." Highly recommend. Clean shop and orderly garage. These guys take care of their workspace like it's their house. Phenomenal customer service. read more

I took my Toyota Highlander in to have it checked out since it had been making noise that was getting worse everyday. I took it in for Jack to check out the noise and he let me know that my muffler had been bent and gave me a very reasonable solution. After a few minutes I remembered that I had been rear ended over a year ago and that the person that rear ended me would have to pay for it. I explained that to Jack and he told me to call my insurance agent and they would open up a new case. Who does that these days? Jack has so much integrity and he was honest. Jack Neuhaus was recommended by Crebassa's Auto Body. I took my Hyundai to him for routine service and examination of an exhaust problem. Jack handled the service well (how he manages to do good work while still fielding calls so politely is a mystery, and should be an inspiration to every other service company out there). Jack did good work at a fair price, and recommended that I go to the dealer to resolve the exhaust problem (in case it was covered by warranty). This wound up saving me some money.
