ATS has gone above and beyond to help me with my son's SAAB, which is practically an antique at this point because they are no longer being made. We were fortunate enough when the mechanic next to them abruptly decided that he no longer wanted to work on the car that the could just push it over to their shop. They clearly explained every problem they identified and sent itemized bills to me for approval. When a new problem appeared, such as a screw holding together an ignition coil that definitely wasn't there before we took the car to the mechanic next door, they were quick to explain the problem and tell me how much more it was going to cost to fix, which incidentally was a lot but we were all in on getting Mobby the whip whip running at that point anyway. Took him back recently for other issues and they took good care of us again. Mobby got a new battery and Anthony, I'm sure spent an ungodly amount of time trying to figure out why our Saab was once again Saabing. They got my driver side window back up when the motor failed even though they couldn't replace the motor because they can't find a replacement motor because Sabbs no longer exist. ATS is a wonderful mechanic shop with friendly reliable honest people. 10 out of 10! Highly recommend. read more

Brought all our cars here when it was Neuhaus Automotive, and Jack was above and beyond in expectations for professionalism, competence, and ethics/fairness. Most of the reviews for ATS date back to Jack Neuhaus, and if ATS was ethical they would have all those removed in fairness. One star for two reasons: 1.) Just had a bad experience with them in not acting fairly when they made a mistake and didn't own it. The kind of thing many other auto repair shops may pull, but very disappointing given Jack's legacy and knowing he would never do that. 2.) See above, they are not a 4.9 star place any longer. read more

I loved this place so much but recently they have made their inspections cost money and they removed the receptionist susanne! She was wonderful and always was my reason for coming back since she made everything so smooth and explained well. The new women is a little stand offish and she did not give me the same energy that susanne did. I actually have decided to stop going here for this reason. Please bring her back and keep your old policies. I think its better for business ‍ read more

See these guys! I found them via Yelp and the reviews are true. I know absolutely nothing about cars but knew my car was due for a check up and they took care of me within an hour. Their front office admin is delightful and we had a great conversation while I waited for my car. They didn't goug me on pricing and told me what I needed done vs what could wait. I will be only seeing these guys from now on! And I drive from the city :) read more

I have been taking my cars here for years . Honest , honest ,honest , people. Work is done when they say it will be , they have fair pricing, and they really care about the client. It has a good family owned , customer service feel to it . I have been so grateful for the many years of that service. When your car is down , you are in a vulnerable position, Val and Jack will take care of you . You won't be disappointed. Since my last review Business has changed names , the service is just as good , if not better ! Susan , the manager , is Fantastic and is full of knowledge as she has an extensive background with dealerships and cars in general. I picked her. Brain for information on purchasing a new car after hours , she was soo very helpful, stayed late just to help another human . The mechanic is still top of the line and the prices MORE THAN FAIR . Look for the new sign , but the same quality , dependable honest business .Never will I go anywhere else ! read more

Reviews are all true. Went in for an oil change before a road trip, but had a brake issue pop up right as I pulled into their parking lot. Keith pulled it into their driveway and had a preliminary diagnosis on the brake issue within five minutes. Put the car on the lift, and confirmed the issue within twenty minutes, all while doing the oil change while I waited. Suzanne is the Service Advisor, she's an absolute gem. If you're their for just a quick service, she'll make sure you're well attended to and not lonely during your wait. Didn't bat an eye when I told them I do most of my own work - no judgement, still happy to work on my car. Keith is a solid dude that will take care of your car like his own, and he works with some like-minded people who truly care.  Go see them. read more

I know it says five stars, but think TEN stars for this service organization and in particular for it's steward, Jack Neuhaus. It's now been about 17 years since I first took my then-new Lexus RX hybrid to Jack, and now, over 200,000 miles later, it's still going strong, largely in part to Jack's expertise and care. Quick anecdote. Today Jack went above and beyond to ensure that my baby passed her smog check - and refused to charge me for any of the service he performed to get her there. What REALLY makes me love the guy is that while I was waiting for Jack to help me, he was fixing a problem for ANOTHER regular client - whom he also refused to charge anything for. I know he's in the business to make a living, but really, Jack treats his regular customers like family - maybe even better than family, as friends. Here's the essence of this business: Honest. Fair prices. Fixes what it can and lets you know what it can't. Really nice owners. Always ready to take your vehicle when they say they will. in 17 years always has my vehicle ready when promised. Never a surprise extra charge. Always a friendly greeting from Jack or Valerie or both. See the rating he has overall? I've looked through ALL his reviews and I only find five stars... what does that tell you? This is the absolute best shop in Marin, in the North Bay, probably in the entire state of California. Thanks, Jack. I count you among my friends for life. read more

The service here is top flight and 100% honest, even after the ownership switch from Jack Neuhaus to ATS a few years ago. I have been a customer for over 15 years, and my 2000 Maxima and 1993 Honda del Sol are humming along beautifully. ATS never charges for unneeded repairs, and OFTEN have charged me less than their estimate. Mechanics Keith and Bob have even given me tips on how to do interior trim fixes myself. Car savvy Suzanne who works the front desk spent hours helping me find parts and expertise for my nearly classic del Sol. When I checked 6 months ago, the ATS hourly rate was $33/hour less than AAA (whose mechanics are not as well trained). Early this year, I mistakenly took my car to another local shop (AAA) with a high Yelp review at that time. I received an invoice for ball joint repair and spark plug replacement costing close to $2000. The car manual said the spark plugs should have at least 30K more miles, so I was dubious. I brought my car to ATS, who actually pulled a spark plug, and inspected the ball joints. "Absolutely no issue with either one," said ATS who provided 12 supporting photos. ATS is simply the most honest and reliable auto repair shop I've ever worked with in 40+ years of car ownership. read more

Thank you so much for the great work on the Chevy Uplander Van! We would definitely come back!

I had the best experience here. I was in need of a mechanic. I called them and explained my situation. Susanne said to bring my pickup in that morning. The communication was great and the work was done at a fair price and a timely manner. I highly recommend them! read more

This is without a doubt one of the best establishments my family and I have had the privilege of being helped by. Within the past month there were unfortunate issues with one of my parents cars. This ultimately took a literal turn to a less favorable outcome and resulted in us having to call our Auto insurance. As the car had to be towed for a few days at our residence, we scrambled to find a local Auto repair business nearby. As many people are trying to maintain or scale up a viable living, in the automotive industry (especially in the Bay Area); a lot of the other businesses whom I spoke with caught me by surprise! It was honestly disheartening to talk to so many people who were trying to over charge or entirely rip me off. There was even one newly established Auto repair shop, whose owner wanted the mechanics fee to be $250. Thus, the previous calls I had made resulted in me looking to Yelp for potential help. Luckily, I found ATS @ Neuhaus Service under the TOP 10 results for Auto Mechanics in San Rafael. After reading the reviews, it was a no brainier to contact them and check their availability. Suzanne's consistent professionalism, frankness and integrity towards us and the entire process has resulted in this review-bar none! She was direct, yet mindful of relaying information to us about the car. Not only that, Suzanne went above her role by giving us additional resources--that has been incredibly helpful. She's been in the industry for quite some time and wanted to inform us about some things, we weren't quite cognizant on. Additionally, the mechanics were able to diagnose the car within the time we were told. With that being said, they were also quick to relay the information and methods to Suzanne and then to us. I cannot emphasize or stress this more than now, how absolutely grateful we are to have found ATS @ Neuhaus Service--especially Suzanne! It is truly a rarity in finding genuine, knowledgeable and proactive people in this industry. So, if any one if looking to get their car serviced, this is definitely a place to reach out to! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! read more

I found ATS through other great reviews of ATS on Yelp. My car heat wasn't working. Suzanne at ATS was truthful right away as to what ATS might be able to fix, and where to go if her shop could not help. With her input, my problem was solved very quickly. Too often, I call a place, just to make an appointment, just to look at a problem, drop it off, wait a day, to find out what's next. This time I called ATS and got quick answers, quick service, and and car heat! My recommendation: try them and see for yourself. GIve them a call - and ask if and how they can help you. Yes not all problems are this easy. I value honesty, ease of getting in, and expertise, so I'll be calling them again next time my car needs something. PS Price was right, too! read more

I've been a customer since 2007 and like others here loved Jack. He recently retired so I was nervous about my first visit with the new team. Guess what? The new team was great too! Outstanding!! I went to Neuhaus Service for an unusual issue with my car and both Jack and Wayne's initial diagnoses ended up being correct. The issue was unusual, but both of them focused on it and found the issue and resolved it. Jack even drove to buy the necessary battery. They were professional, extremely nice and fun. They enjoyed helping me. The invoice presented to me was more than fair and I was happy to pay it. Customer for Life! read more

Unlike so many people in the industry, this company is straightforward and honest. They tell you exactly what's wrong with your vehicle. What's the most urgent and what can be put off. They don't sell you unnecessary repairs and they don't try to upsell the repairs that they do. I find their prices reasonable, and their staff is incredibly knowledgeable read more

I switched from the Infiniti dealer service department to Neuhaus Service about three years ago and have never looked back. I convinced my husband to get his Lexus serviced at Neuhaus also and he is very happy with the switch from the dealer. Jack Neuhaus is professional, knowledgeable, and just an all around nice person. He does what he says he will on time and at a fair price. The Neuhaus Service slogan is "Quality service and repair at reasonable rates" -- this is one place where it's actually true! read more

I was going through a rough week and was in town for the weekend, my car's check engine light went on. I needed a last minute check to see what was happening. They were amazing. RE: Prius headlight bulbs replaced here. Skill level: expert. This rating is due to all aspects of interaction with Jack Neuhaus, original owner and proprietor. Jack called me back after I left a message and gave me an accurate time and cost estimate (1/4th the cost that the Novato Toyota Dealership quoted me, and no overnight wait) over the phone. He cited his experience with the bulbs when I called back to express my concern and explain these are not ordinary, accessible, ergonomic headlamps like other cars have. He replaced the bulbs in both headlamps with expertise and efficiency. The bays were full, he had other employees working on cars, and he was able to fit in this fix, working under the hood of my car parked facing the mechanic bays. He made a very challenging task look easy. The Prius HiD headlight bulb is one of the toughest items to access in the vehicle (i mean hey I have assisted my pops in replacing the auxiliary battery, when the Toyota dealership wanted to charge me an arm and a leg- easy peasy in comparison). The Bulb-replacing requires strong fingers with dexterity to work the release clips in the plastic housing without breaking the plastic, experience with twisting the (usually cranky and stubborn) plastic cap behind the unit without snapping off the prone-to-snapping-off-fins, and especially pinching the tension-spring loaded u-pin to release the old bulb, flipping the wire, and then securing the new bulb, which proves more challenging than the release. All this is done without seeing the u-pin latch and most of the entire puzzle at all. Even with a telescopic LED-lit mirror, you cannot see the area your tired fingers and pinched wrist struggle at, to accomplish the complicated movement. So: put down your screwdrivers and useless pliers and headlamp, and let an expert be the expert. My complements to Jack Neuhaus. read more

ATS Automotive Technology Services - Jack, making it look easy... - Auto Repair Near Me - San Rafael, California

This business is refreshing. They are extremely honest. If you are looking for an auto repair shop that is not hungry for money, that is compassionate, honest and willing to break down all the pro's & con's so that you can make an educated decision... This is definitely the place! Suzanne knows what she is doing, she is full of knowledge. She is full of tips on what to look for, and what to beware of... I am so pleased with the way my daughter and I were treated, by every single person in this shop! I literally am 3 hours away. My daughter will definitely be bringing her auto back to this shop for sure! Thank you so much! All of your help & guidance was beyond measure! I have a 2000 Lexus RX300 and sought out an honest mechanic, found just that here at Neuhaus. They are friendly, efficient and help me get the full lifespan out of parts like brake pads and rotors, I took my car here for an inspection and fluid flush, and timing belt job, they went above and beyond. I keep going back and have recommended other friends with Japanese cars who need a trustworthy mechanic. Highly recommend read more

I can not recommend Jack Neuhaus enough. I found him through searching for a reliable mechanic here on Yelp, and my experience was so good that I will only go to him from here on out. My car was making an awful noise, but I didn't have the words to describe it well to him. I tried my best. As a woman without a good understanding of how cars work, I have often felt intimated going to mechanics because I don't know who to trust and I don't like being "mansplained" to. Jack never made me feel that way. He took the time to help me understand the issue with my car was and the correct vocabulary around it. He also gave me multiple options on how to fix my car. My car is older, so he took the time to research a used part option that works perfectly well for my situation--this saved me hundreds of dollars on the repair vs. going with a new part. My a/c coincidentally went out just a day before I went in to get the new part put on, and though his schedule was full, he agreed to keep my car an extra day and squeezed me in his schedule to get that repair done so I would not have to go back and forth to pick up/drop of my car. If you need a quality, reliable, honest, kind mechanic, I highly recommend Neuhaus Service! read more

If I could give more stars, I would. Neuhaus & team saved my vehicle multiple times and always provides reliable, top quality and honest service. I'm not a big yelp user, but I cannot recommend them enough. Shoutout to Suzanne, especially; she is the most helpful and knowledgeable in the business. She truly went above and beyond to help me save my vehicle and when another mechanic did subpar work on my car, she was committed to helping me resolve the issue despite receiving nothing in return. I really can't say enough good things about this place. I will be a customer for life! read more

I'm not at all impressed with this repair shop. Every time I came back to pick up my car, there was always an additional charge for something I didn't ask for. They were always changing parts on my car (Toyota) that wasn't really needed at the time. ie. If it's not broken, why fix it?? read more

It was late at night when my car broke down. My transmission totally blew. I took it to him and he was very nice and looked over my car completely to make sure there wasn't any other Associated problems. He did some research to find out how much it would place to have my transmission replaced. Always friendly on the phone always helpful had good advice. Ultimately I had to decide not to do the transmission because it cost more than my car did at that time. But the service that I got there was incomparable. Wonderful group of guys. He was very helpful put my car inside at night when I wasn't able to drive it. If I needed further assistance I would definitely go to him. It's easy to see why he get such high ratings. And he's very proud of those ratings he says he works hard to get them. I believe him. read more

I was referred here by a friend after my usual mechanic that I'd been going to for years sadly went out of business. As someone who doesn't know anything about cars it can be a little daunting trying to find a new mechanic. I am so so happy I came here! They are so friendly and based on the myriad of problems Jack helped me with the price was more than fair. Jack was kind, helpful, and happy to share his knowledge. Also, their covid-19 safety protocols are the best I've seen of any business which just goes to show their thoughtfulness. Not surprised to see they have uniformly stellar reviews. I will be taking my car into them from now on! read more

ATS @ Neuhaus Service is a total life saver! I was having some car trouble with my 2009 Acura TSX and was totally freaking out, this place was very close by my job and so I decided to swing by and see if they could help me, which they totally did! When I pulled up, I was greeted by two technicians, Gelver and Keith. They were super nice and gave me a quick run down of what could be going on with my car. I then went into the little office that they had, where I was greeted by a lady named Suzanne, she was super sweet and set up and appointment for me. I left my car there for a few hours, and then boom it was all fixed and was not making the scary noises it was when I dropped it off in the morning. I have been to many mechanics and technicians before, but not one was as fast and nice as the techs at ATS!!! read more

Called because my check engine light recently came on. Jack agreed to have me drop in to get the code read. Very response and helpful.

This was one of the most pleasant experiences I have ever had with a mechanic. Not having much knowledge about cars, I am careful with selecting a mechanic so as not to get taken advantage of. I have a mechanic in Sonoma that I have gone to for years but my car broke down in Mill Valley and I didnt want to tow it all the way to Sonoma. So I looked up the closest Prius mechanics and Jack had great reviews. He let me drop it off there on a Sunday and talked to me on the phone about what the issues were that I was experiencing with the car. He then called me back on Monday and let me know that he couldnt do anything to fix my car since the problem was with the Hybrid battery not the regular battery and he didnt have the training to do that sort of work, so I would have to take it to the dealership. But he let me keep my car there for a few days until I could get to the dealership and then charged me nothing for the initial inspection. He really earned my trust and I will go back there for any future car service. read more

All the reviews re: Neuhaus & Jack's top rate customer service are spot on. It seems unfortunate that these days, finding a trustworthy mechanic who understands & values clients and delivers at providing the best experience is a rarity. As a new customer, Jack was patient, beyond polite, and completely willing to work with me after explaining to him my crazy schedule. Repair (brake pad replacement) only took a few hours and Jack even took the time to show me the old pads and providing a full assessment...all, thankfully, without breaking the bank. Rates are super competitive but his awesome service is what will keep me returning to Neuhaus. Thank you, Jack!!! read more

ATS @ Neuhaus Service is NOT Neuhaus! The amazing Jack Neuhaus is retiring, sold his business/customer base, and is wrapping up his part time/transition work March/April 2023. So all those prior great reviews - completely misleading now. I sincerely hope ATS gets great reviews going forward, but for us for now, it was a DISASTER. Our car engine was starting up but only after longer than usual cranking, and then it just shut off a couple times in our driveway. So we drove it in to what we thought was Neuhaus, and even suggested to them that maybe the alternator was failing. But they did a bunch of other stuff including selling us a new battery. Ten days later, the engine shuts off suddenly on the freeway, obviously creating a dangerous situation. Fortunately we manage to pull over safely - and have it towed back to NOT Neuhaus. This time ATS says, yeah it actually is the alternator. They do give us a discount for the obvious headaches, and we think we're done. But it's still not driving right and feeling like it might fail again. This time we take it to another shop - where we learn there was a loose cable on the alternator installation! So there you have it - three trips to the shop instead of one, extra cost/headaches, a dangerous fail on the highway. Thanks a lot. Hope you figure things out ATS (aka NOT Neuhaus)! read more

Jack was actually referred to me by a service tech at the Lexus Dealership. He solved my transmission issue with ease and very little expense. He has shown himself, to be honest, highly competent and a good value. Twice this year he has bailed me out of issues that could have been a much larger expense elsewhere. Every customer seems to know him and speaks with him like an old friend. The highest of recommendations. read more

I just moved to the area and purchased an older Toyota 4runner recently, hence the search for finding that forever mechanic commenced. As a young female that is incredibly intimidated by mechanics due to past experiences, the search has been difficult. Then came in Jack and Valerie. I called Valerie and spoke to her about a leak I was encountering but also to establish a mechanic relationship for my recently purchased used vehicle. Right away, I could tell that I found my place just based off the conversation with Valerie. She was able to squeeze me in with Jack to make sure that the leak wasn't going to aggravate any future damage to the vehicle. A great sign was that they are booked out which just shows that they have a fantastic customer base and one that returns often. Once I arrived and met Jack, all the previous anxiety I had with other mechanics diminished. My gut feeling was spot on, I found my place. I felt that my dream car was in great hands and I knew that honest feedback would always ensue. After he took a look at my car, he brought me out to show me the work he did, what he found, suggestions, and asked if I had any questions. What mechanic does that? It alleviated so many fears and I can't wait to establish a permanent mechanic. Plus it's a family owned business! I can't wait to refer Jack and Valerie to everyone I know in the area that are searching for that honest, well priced (you know Marin), incredibly experienced, & has your back kind of mechanic. Look at the other reviews, there is a reason he is highly rated but also read the comments, it's all true. They gave me hope that these type of mechanics still exist! Thank you Jack and Valerie, you found yourself another loyal customer. read more

Great, honest service at a reasonable price. Been using him for over ten years for my Acura service and repairs.

I do all my auto maintenance work myself and I will take on some repair work beyond my experience level to avoid taking my car to a mechanic. I found Neuhaus by accident and I have used his service twice for repairs that were more than I could handle at the time. I am not easy to please but I have been satisfied with his service and he gave me some good advice on future repair work that I told him I would be doing myself. If I have a work that is best performed with a lift and I am just not feeling up to it I won't hesitate to use Neuhaus again. I think that says a lot. read more

I have had my cars serviced here since -gosh- way back. Jack bought the business from Wilson and I went along happily. I had a 1990 Accord at Wilson, and a 1997 and a 2003 Subie at Neuhaus. (No, I am not over 50!) Jack is one of those people who just tells it like it is. My car has a valve cover gasket leak. The dealer saw dollars in his eyes and said I had to replace it immediately, $800. Jack said, well, yeah, it leaks. Not too bad. Check the oil. Replace if necessary. But when I had actual electrical problems and the car was towed there, he was frank and honest about what it entailed. My husband's Pruis died and the dealer wanted $2800 to repair it - Neuhaus referred me to a hybrid specialist who saved us nearly $700. If you have a CAR, of any type, I highly recommend Neuhaus. read more
