Cannot say enough about the excellent quality of service and value. I highly recommend Mellow Motor. read more

I have been going to Mellow for almost 30 years. They always are honest on what needs to be fixed now and what can wait. I have never had to bring a car back because it was not fixed right. I trust their judgement completley. read more

Mellow Motors does great work. But the last time my car got a full inspection and oil change, the tire pressure and low oil sensors came on the day after the work. Liz told me they don't fix that and I'd need to get the oil topped up somewhere and go to a tire place. Of course the owner stood behind the work and fixed the sensors immediately, but telling a customer that they need to go to two more places after Mellow Motors works on their car....well I'm just lucky I was able to reach the owner. read more

Nick (the owner), Andrew and Liz are accommodating, friendly and extremely knowledgeable for starters...their welcoming attitudes make the maintenance and repair process simple and informative. They identified our issues and their very competent team of technicians transformed our Volvo back into like-new mechanical condition. The services performed were necessary, timely, and more than fairly priced. No one else will service our fleet As Mellow Motors is without question the absolute best! read more

I could not be more please with the level of expertise and transparency I experienced with Mellow Motors.

Several years ago I got fed up with the Lexus dealership repair shop. I switched to Mellow Motors both for regular maintenance and for repairs when needed, and I have not looked back! Always reliable, always honest, technically skilled, and customer service that leaves Lexus in the dust! read more

Efficient and great communication from appointment through diagnosis, repairs and final billing checkout. I had previously had the car serviced through dealership and had many follow-up's to repairs. The car has run smoothly and with fewer repairs since using mellow motors. read more

Routine check on my BMW 328d. Mellow Motors is thorough and honest. I much prefer them to the local dealership for any issue.

Once again Mellow Motors. came to the rescue. Fixed my car problem quickly and advised me that my tires were needing to be replaced. They are very fair in price and always explain what and why repairs need to be done. I highly recommend this business. read more

I only bring my car to Nick and Mellow motors. If you want something done right the first time and quickly, there's no other choice. Save yourself time, money and headache by bringing your car here where you're treated fairly and with respect. read more

Had a faulty water pump/sensor installed a few months ago. They correctly diagnosed the problem and replaced the parts under warranty, without charge and without hassle. I've been very happy with the service here. My family has used this shop for their VWs for many years. Trustworthy and professional. Highly recommend. read more

I have a Volkswagen 2019 E golf that I bought used and absolutely love, but has given me anxiety every time I go to charge it. From Day One it was always a guessing game, one that I would often lose, of whether it was going to charge or not. I took it to the dealership and they wanted to completely replace the entire charging module, quoted at four grand. Their explanation was flimsy, and when I talked to Nick on the phone, he took his time and confidently explained why he thought that this was not the actual problem with the car Nick and his team took care of the issue for significantly less, and now my car charges without issue. Mellow motors made me feel like a real human being when they talk to me and were extremely knowledgeable. Will definitely be coming back here again. Highly recommend! read more

This place is a gem. Liz is super friendly, Andrew the mechanic explained exactly what the problem was, how he fixed it and what to do if the problem returns. Fantastic service, fair price. Check it out, you'll be glad you did! read more

My Passat jerked under acceleration, especially uphill, and ultimately ended up with a check engine light. I had my car towed to Mellow Motors after hour's and the drop off was painless. I got a call the next day with a diagnosis and estimate and the following Monday had my car back all shiny and running like new. I'd go back in a heartbeat! read more

I've been taking my Audi Q7 to Mellow Motors for several years, and I have been very happy with their level of service, honesty, professionalism and communication. The technicians are very good at explaining any that work needs to be done and why it needs to be done, what the job will cost, and how long it will take. I highly recommend them! read more

Thai is not my first review of mellow Mellow Motors. However, after another extremely satisfying experience, I feel it is only right to share what I learned. I own an older Range Rover that needed the belts replaced. This is mentioned in the Maintenance Manual, however, the Mechanic based his decision on a visual check of the belts. My "check engine light" was on and the overall performance of the car was not affected. A diagnostic was run and the CEL results were explained to me. I am an older woman and am not as familiar with the diagnostic tools used today. Andrew took the time to fully explain the diagnostic results in a manner that was comprehensible to me. The work was done in a timely manner and communications were open the entire time. Liz keeps communications & information current and clear. I do not hesitate to recommend Mellow Motors for clear expectations, quality service, and timely completion of work. read more

I highly recommend this shop. They are friendly and professional and they always seem to get the job done at a fair price!

This is what an ex-mechanic loves about a good repair shop. First off, they have a very reasonable labour rate for the Bay Area and secondly, Nick was very responsive to my needs, allowing me to recommend a particular part for my BMW. When Andrew called me to talk things through, I felt super confident that they would take care of my precious car, remedy the problem and get the job done, and for way less than a BMW dealer or specialist. I would recommend Mellow Motors for any BMW work and will be taking mine there again without hesitation. Great service, great response, great work and great people. Thanks Nick! read more

Mellow Motors - 207 BMW 650 - Auto Repair Near Me - Greenbrae, California

I am a senior female on my own and rarely have had to go to get my car serviced! Guess I've been lucky! Recently my almost 5 year old Kia's engine started making funny noises which got more & louder so decided to take it to Mellow Motors as they were highly recommended by a reliable friend. Boy am I glad I took her advice as my experience from start to finish was FIRST RATE!! Started with a phone call to Liz at front desk, who certainly could teach excellent customer service to anyone...she is exemplar in all the dealings I had with her, from ongoing texts for reminders, confirmations etc! The service folks were the same as Andrew called me with an amazing & detailed report of all that was going on with my engine which was bad. His write up was so detailed, I was completely prepared to handle it with the KIA folks. And he had prepared me for exactly what would happen with them and sure enough they followed his script exactly. This was really helpful as I was not caught of guard & very ready to deal with the situation in detail! I felt so completely taken care of from start to finish that I happily endorse this company to anyone based on my excellent experience!! If you want First Class attention when dealing with car issues, I highly & strongly recommend Mellow Motors on Rich St in Greenbrae. read more

Mellow Motors - Auto Repair Near Me - Greenbrae, California

I was unable to get my car (2005 Mercedes) registered for over a year because of engine fault lights that said I needed a new catalytic converter (that was no longer available) and required a bunch of tests/mechanical hoops from the CA State Smog Referee before I could get the okay to order a replacement and pass a smog test. The team at Mellow Motors was extremely patient, knowledgeable and helpful, evaluating the car, explaining to me what was needed, the different options to fix the problem and then fixing related issues that ended up clearing all the codes without even needing a new catalytic converter (or dealing with the Smog Ref program)! Super helpful, knowledgeable and ended up saving me a lot of money and time. Highly recommend working with them. read more

Very Rude office manager Liz. made my experience bad after making the trip over from S.F. because 1st time was good. 4 hours to wait for an oil change and for her to not accept my $25 discount because i didn't click on it a head of time is ridiculous! so long. read more

Trustworthy, fast and always takes the time to answer all of my questions since I understand nothing about cars.

Mellow Motors is doing a great job keeping my beloved 2003 BMW 530i purring like a kitten.

As always, we are delighted with our service at Mellow. The issue was diagnosed very shortly after the car got in, and I had a call to let me know. The necessary work was done in good order. Both the mechanic who kept me informed by phone, and Liz at the office were terrific. Oh, and if you need a ride to or from the shop, their driver Omar is a gracious and very competent fellow. Always a plus to see him too! read more

This is one of, if not the only, honest mechanics left in Marin County. I am SO happy with them. It was my first time here and both Liz and Nick treated me better than the other mechanic I'd been going to. My old, cranky Mercedes is in good hands and I don't think I'll ever go to anybody else from now on. read more

We've been using Mellow Motors for 25+ years. Always the same great service. Highly recommended.

Mellow Motors is not just an auto repair facility, It's an auto repair institution. They have been providing the same quality, affordability, and overall valuable car culture to their customers for over fifty years, with the exact same overview throughout, which is fabulous when considering that the business is now in the hands of a new generation that has adopted the same longstanding ethic, and is continuing to to modernize their approach to auto repair in an everchanging world. When shopping for mechanical repair in our community, except no substitute. read more

Mellow is always the BEST! The people are wonderful, the place is spotless, comfortable and welcoming. The work is top notch and not expensive. They fix things that need fixing and do it very reasonably. I cannot recommend Mellow Motors high enough. About a month ago my wife's car experienced a check engine light issue. Mellow advised that it was serious and not inexpensive. Because we love the car, we agreed to the repair. Recently, the light went on again. They took the car back, spent a lot of time on their nickel, and completely repaired the car on the warranty of the prior work. You cannot ask for more honest and exceptional work from an auto repair shop. Mellow is the Best! read more

We have been taking our cars to Mellow Motors for about 45 years. The staff are on top of everything. Their prices for repairs are fair and the repairs are above reproach. Nick, the owner, is excellent and their work is trustworthy and less than most other shops. I highly recommend Mellow Motors. Judy S. read more

Brought my Mini Cooper here for a battery replacement because my comfort access had stopped working, and 2 other mechanics told me that was the cause. Through a communication error that was probably only 50% their fault, my battery was replaced but the comfort access was still not fixed. It's not the end of the world, but I was pretty bummed because I really love that feature and rely on it pretty heavily. After I paid for the battery and left, Nick took the initiative to do some research on his own, then called me up the next morning and filled me in on what he'd found out. He also offered to do a diagnostic free of charge to confirm the issue, whether I had him do the repair or not. He even offered to sync up with whatever other mechanic I hired to fix it. Needless to say, I brought the repair to him. It was dianosed and fixed in a day, and I only had to pay $180 for the repair (not the $200 diagnostic). Honestly I'm still kind of gobsmacked. I've had good service from mechanics before, but I've never experienced this level of integrity and desire for a positive outcome. Nick took the initiave and demonstrated a great deal of empathy and and proactive problem solving for something that was, tbh, not a huge functional problem. Any time I have a choice in where to get repairs done (ie, as long as I don't break down far away), I will gladly commute the hour from Penngrove or SF to get my car worked on here. They also gave me some pretty sound insurance advice. read more

All good as usual with our friends at Mellow. Andrew the wizard mechanic was great and very communicative. Our car (Audi) was there for a couple days as they dug in to solve the problem(s). He called with updates and costs 3 times, so we knew where we were at. Liz was communicative as well, and everything clicked. We've taken our vehicles there for almost 20 years now, with complete satisfaction. They are much more hands-on and communicative than either of our OEM dealers for service. No upselling. read more

Where do I begin? I needed to find a new auto repair business for my Land Rover. My son - who lived in San Francisco - used to have the car serviced in SF. I needed a local business near San Rafael. I did some research and chose Mellow Motors. I could not be any happier with the service I received! I needed a vehicle inspection and oil change. The car is older & needed some additional repairs. I called back and forth many times throughout the process and found both Nick (the Owner) and Liz (who takes your call) informative, pleasant, and patient. The car was serviced in a timely matter. Communication was straight-forward and clear. Labor rates are extremely competitive. The service here is impeccable. My car was returned washed & vacuumed. I'll be back. read more

These guys are great! Went there on a Saturday when Marin Acura couldn't show me how to chg the battery in my key fob and told me to come back on Monday! These guys took 5 mins and changed it for me! Even showed me how to do it myself!! I'll go back! Thank you Mellow Motors!! read more

I took my Audi here after a failed smog check. They identified and corrected the issue during the initial diagnostic phase (which meant there were no additional charges outside of the initial fee) and provided detailed updates along the way, setting expectations about how long it would take and outlining possible outcomes. Bottom line: friendly, fair, professional, high quality service. Will definitely be back! read more

Amazing experience! Nick and his team are very professional and took the time to explain everything. The whole staff provided excellent & efficient service from the second I walked in the door to the time I drove my car home. Fair prices and honest communication across the board. Exceptional Integrity - our car experienced misfiring with an illuminated "check engine" light. Fearing the worst possibility, I thought that our ignition coils needed replacement - a labor intensive and very expensive job. I delivered the car midday for a diagnostic evaluation and repair. Despite the lunch hour, Nick said that he would quickly check the error codes to exclude a simple fix like a loose wire. Unfortunately, the quick diagnostic analysis indicated a more serious problem. Later, after performing a thorough diagnostic evaluation, he advised me that a previously replaced alternator had failed. But, the alternator and labor were covered by warranty at NO CHARGE! Thank you Nick! With competent technicians, great service, wonderful integrity and honesty - all deserving of the highest of praise by Mellow Motors! As a reminder, I do not publish negative reviews of small businesses. Understanding the challenges managing a small business, I choose to communicate privately to the responsible parties less than adequate service. read more

Excellent experience from booking appointment through diagnoses and recommendations. I brought in my Lexus with transmission problems. Nick performed diagnosis and gave clear description of the issue, options, and his recommendations, which did not include spending additional $$$ on services that were not likely to solve the issue. This may seem standard, but was a welcome change from shops (including dealership) who recommend unnecessary services. Above and beyond, as they weren't able to fix my transmission, Nick didn't charge me for the diagnosis services! read more
