These guys are courteous & professional. They helped my elderly aunt out with her Volvo while I was out of town & unable to assist. I called Juan explained the issue he made time same day to assist. Car was ready on time and on budget. Nice to know honest shops still around. Will def. be our family go to shop in Marin going forward. read more

I brought my 2013 Mercedes E350 into Swiss Garage for a "B" service at 65K, including replacing the spark plugs (put in Bosch plugs). Juan did a great job on the car and I am very happy with the outcome. He charged a bit less than the estimate he had given me over the phone, showing that he is an honest person, not a rip-off artist. I'm going to become a regular Swiss Garage customer. He took care of every item on my to-do list and made comments on what he found. Very professional and knowledgeable. I'm impressed. All in all, Juan at Swiss Garage did a great job at a reasonable price. I strongly recommend him. read more

The new owner, Nick Fara, and his team were great and took care of me and my new (used) Mini! They conducted smog (STAR) and did a thorough diagnostic check to make sure my car was in order. They are extremely knowledgable and professional and really made me feel confidant in their attention and care. Highly recommend! read more

What a wonderful experience I had. I bought a 2007 Dodge Ram Truck with 151,000 miles. It looks ok, but needed lots of work. I turned over the project to Lars and his staff, to put it back into first class shape. Now, I have the truck back, and what a transformation. I can hardly list everything...new wheels, tires, belts, bumpers, headlights, interior repair, alignment, tune up, and so much more that is beyond my technical level. What I do know is that the office manager, Nancy, kept me updated always, and explained all the details to me. Roger did much of the mechanical work. What a knowledgeable and capable mechanic. Thank you Roger! Lars is a delightful owner, manager, personality, and supervisor. I love his work, and appreciate him so much. Swiss Garage did such a great job for me. This is my highest recommendation! read more

I'm new to this area and first noticed the garage when I'd walk past it and could see how spotless and organized it is. Then I had a question about my car and called, so I called. Lars spent five minutes on the phone with me explaining the issue and how my car was actually running within normal parameters. I wasn't even a customer yet, and he spent time to tell me I didn't need to bring it in. That's service--and honesty, so I knew when I did need service I'd take my car to the Swiss Garage. I took it in today--I called for a reservation and talked to Nancy who scheduled it conveniently. She gave me a quote which was about $20 more than I thought it would be, but that was fine. The car was ready before they promised--and the actual price was $20 less than she quoted me! So she was just being careful, which is smart and courteous. Since the car was new to me, I wanted to make sure it was thoroughly checked. I'd told them to do whatever needed to be done. They could have said I needed a lot of things. But they didn't--they checked everything, made a note that I'd probably need new brakes in about 6 months and when I did I should have my brake fluid flushed, but nothing else now. And--when I got in my car--they'd vacuumed the carpet and washed the windshield! Treating others the way you want to be treated--This kind of service is all too rare today but it's alive and well at the Swiss Garage. I trust them with my car--and you can, too. read more

Swiss a great European auto garage and alas it just closed. I also always had great service across town at mellow motors so now it's mellow all the way. Both were great now it's mellow 100 percent for me read more

For service you can trust I recommend Swiss Garage. Lars and the rest of the staff are very knowledgeable, and fair. I have a classic Mercedes and there are other independent Mercedes repair garages in Marin (and I have tried them) but I have found Swiss garage to the be best at both fixing the problem and doing it at a reasonable price. read more

I love the professional service and friendliness of Nancy!!! She's the best. I have been trusting our cars with them for decades. Wouldn't go anywhere else. In relation to the current pandemic I felt incredibly comfortable and safe. Best practices in place. read more

Okay, so one person mentioned that his bill was 10% higher than his "verbal quote", but that's why it's just that - a verbal quote. Designed to give you a ballpark of what the job would cost, before they actually get under the hood and see what's what. Same thing happened to me, my VW Jetta needed some breather hoses replaced after failing it's smog test, and Matt gave me an estimate of about $400 over the phone. My repair actually turned out to be a good chunk more than that, but the original estimate was based on what "tends" to go wrong, as opposed to what "actually" went wrong. While it always sucks to have to pay more money than expected, when the procedure is explained and outlined, it's completely understandable. Lars, Matt, and the lads do great work, are courteous and quick, and get your car on the road with a minimum fuss for a good chunk less than the stealership does. My Jetta goes there exclusively now, and I wince when I have to take it to Sonnen for anything "official". read more

I have something for you to think about and most of you should agree with my assessment. I now can sit here and wax poetic about Swiss Garage. Last Sunday, my 335i coupe's battery decided to die. I did what any sane human did and brought the car to my local 'dealer'. Mistakes were made...Information was not explained and prices were outrageous. I could not be mollycoddled into believing this was my only option. In the fires of my redemption, I decided to give my local shop Swiss Garage a call. Nancy was great, informative, straight forward and personable. She explained all the stipulations of replacing a BMW battery, not explained to me at the 'dealer'. In a matter of a couple hours, my beamer was good to go. The silver lining in all of this is that we are not living in the dark ages. Quite the contrary, know your local shop and figure out who you can trust. Swiss Garage is one to be trusted. Next time you have an issue with your European car, take it to Swiss, now "rinse and repeat." read more

Since Lars took care of my bike and my car for the first time, I felt 100% comfortable with his work ... and if I am around Larkspur with a problem regarding my car or bike, I would always ask Lars (and his team) for help and support! - Thanks Lars for your support! - read more

EXCELLENT customer service. They don't try to suggest unneeded work. All of the repairs and other work they have done on my Audi have been completed correctly. Their prices seem reasonable. I'm glad I found this shop! read more

How am I the first to review this? How can I say this - it's never cheap to have something done to your car. But, at Swiss Garage, I feel like I'm not getting ripped off AND they are fast, efficient, and always very friendly. I feel really comfortable leaving my car there for service, and I will never take my car to Sonnen when I have Swiss Garage. (P.S. - lars, the owner, is a pretty awesome guy). read more

I took my 2006 Mini Cooper with a transmission problem(I understand something about cars). I request for a quote to change the transmission, they checked the car, and said that it wasn't a transmission problem, that the computer needed to be reset. I paid about $400 for the job. The same day I'm driving out of the shop, I could feel the transmission problem again. I went back there, they wanted to charge me another $5k to change the transmission (which I agreed to pay), but they didn't want to deduct the $400 that I already paid. They said that it wasn't transmission problem, they SHOULD have recognize their mistake on detecting the problem as something different, deduct what I paid before and not make me pay for their errors. BAD EXPERIENCE...NEVER GOING BACK I REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION SOMEWHERE ELSE, MORE RELAIBLE WITH THEIR ESTIMATES. read more

The Swiss Garage has serviced my vehicles (Toyotas, Hondas, and BMWs) for many years. Lars and his staff are competent and trustworthy mechanics, and the pricing is absolutely fair. On one rare occasion when the service was not satisfactory, I notified Lars and he immediately looked into the matter and fixed the problem with no further charge. He was a genuinely apologetic. When was the last time a service shop treated you with that kind of courtesy? So, yes, this an honest and trustworthy establishment. And, you know, if you are ever faced with a relationship dilemma that somehow requires a choice between a reliable partner and a reliable mechanic, choose the mechanic--and a place like the Swiss Garage. Nancy, who does the reception and scheduling work, is a delight. I will stop here. I don't want the SG to become popular to the point where it becomes difficult to schedule a service appointment. nb I can see that there is a very unfavorable Yelp review here from two years ago. I will only say that it is very, very difficult for me to understand how any customer could be that disappointed with the SG. read more

Outstanding Customer Service on a Pre Purchase inspection of our 2010 Mercedes S63 which we're selling to a Buyer in Houston who wanted an independent opinion of the car. Mercedes of Marin said they not only did not do this type of service but if we wanted a "Safety Inspection" we would have to wait a week. Nancy of Swiss Swiss Garage scheduled us immediately. read more

So despite my initial hesitation, I called Swiss Garage back about getting my car serviced. They quoted me about 300$ less than the Volvo dealership so I brought it in to get serviced. Interestingly enough I also got a thank you Yelp msg from Lars (the owner of Swiss Garage) about my so-so review. Apologizing for a high quote and explaining what may have gone wrong with that. I really appreciate someone who takes the time to 1) check with people who had a bad experience to see what they can do better and 2) thank people for good reviews (he also sent a thank you email to a friend of mine who left a good review). This immediately warmed me on this place and my experience getting my car serviced here was great. I really wish I had gone to this place earlier. :D read more

Both low beams were out on my car (Toyota), and the replacement on the passenger side was just a bit more complicated than what I would ordinarily handle at home. I called and they squeezed me in without an appointment. 20 or so minutes later, I had new bulbs for a VERY fair price. Very friendly service too. I'll definitely be going back. read more

I would like to thank all the team of the Swiss Garage for the excellent job done to my VW Passat. I found myself in need to look for a repair shop after my car started having a misfire code, after looking and googling and checking yelp for options as far as Novato ( I live in Larkspur ) I decided to give my local shop a tried. Couple of people have used their services and the only comment was it could be a bit pricey. After the initial diagnostic and quote, I decided to check other shops but I decided to give Swiss Garage a shot and I couldn't be happier. read more

Clean, organized, professional and honest. Really, what more can you ask from a service garage! Yet, they add great personalities, exemplary service and prices are well below the dealership. I have used them for years, and will continue to do so. Thanks Nancy, for always coming through! read more

So many great customer reviews buried for this business because they believe in old-fashioned, hard earned respect not paid ads. These folks operate an ethical business that has earned a loyal following in the community. They are always there for you and don't try to complicate your life by pushing lengthy costly work you don't need. Nancy has provided the best customer service for years. It's a first-class shop. read more

I am shocked that anyone could give these guys a bad review. Nancy and the Swiss Garage crew are the benchmark for trustworthy and effective mechanics in the Bay Area. I started taking my car there 5 years ago, and it has been running perfectly without gobs of money spent on repairs and service. I totally trust them. They are fast, very reasonably priced, honest and really nice. I offer this business my highest recommendation. Along with Steen Madens' auto body place in San Rafael, this is one of the best car shops in the North Bay. Shame on anyone giving this place a subpar review. read more

Nancy and her crew at swiss garage do honest work. I wish I would have found them years ago. They did a excellent job!

I took my VW to Swiss garage for one reason - Matt Forsyth! He was my service guy at Sonnen VW and he is by far the best service person I have ever dealt with. Let's face it . . . most service guys are trolls and Sonnen VW in San Rafael does not have a shortage of them. Matt is thorough, prices are fair and I know my car and I will always be taken care of. read more

Swiss Garage is terrific. They are honest, efficient, and do a great job of communicating. Have had numerous great experiences here.

Lars and his crew are top notch!I've taken the multitude of random vehicles that I have owned to Swiss Garage, and am blown away when I get them back running better than ever. This is the shop, to not only properly diagnose an odd issue, noise, vibration, but be able to find the parts and repair it to factory condition. You can usually check out Lars' Daytona 675 track bike or his Ducati hanging around somewhere on the premises as well. Great shop, Fair prices, and motorcycle eye candy...good stuff! read more

Beware that Swiss Garage charges for basic diagnostics and estimating that most garages do for free. Be sure to ask exactly what you will be charged and what services you will receive. We called Swiss Garage because of a check engine light related to the torque converter. Another garage had read the code (for free) but couldn't do the transmission work. Nancy at Swiss Garage told us they needed to "verify the code". We ended up being charged $70 just to have Swiss Garage read the code for us again. We expected someone to at least look at the problem. When we disputed the charge we were told "that's what it means to verify." read more

If you have an out-of-warranty European car--or any car for that matter--you cannot beat Swiss Garage for analysis and repair. I have been taking my MSB to Swiss Garage since I stopped going to the dealership service department some four years ago. The analysis is better, the repair is better, and the environment is customer-centric and quite friendly. I have never found anyone more capable in analyzing difficult and evidence-lite issues with such accuracy and good sense. And, if you have a series of problems, rely on them to plan out a sequence of remedies/repair in a sensible and timely way. Take your car there--you cannot beat the service quality! read more

This garage has very smart, capable people working for it. I was trying to extend the life of my bmw so when San Rafael BMW Service said my oil filter assembly and an oil line needed replacing I dropped $1000 and let them do it. After that repair my bmw started leaking oil and I was irritated. San Rafael BMW service wasn't even sure what the problem was, but said their work didn't cause it. So I let Swiss Garage handle it and it wasn't cheap but the car doesn't leak oil anymore. Lars said he had to heat one part up to get it to fit. Another incident that hasn't proven out yet but I want to mention. Bought a used VW and found the differential was already having metal shavings in the differential fluid. The local VW dealer (and I like my service rep) gave a quote that was huge because a new differential had to be purchased from VW. Swiss garage found the differential from a junked car at a fraction of the cost. So something to think about with repairs. Dealers have to use new parts when they repair something, affecting cost. Getting the part from a junked car can save a lot in some instances. read more

The Swiss Garage is less expensive than many of the dealerships, and the quality of their work is superior to anything else I have experienced. I recently had my car serviced while I was visiting in San Diego. The mechanic said he heard a funny noise, but could not figure out where it was coming from. The folks at The Swiss Garage found it immediately and now my car runs like a Swiss Watch! Maybe that's why they call it The Swiss G read more

Integrity. Helpfulness. Dependable. Friendly. My car just recently went out of warranty and I took it to Swiss Garage for an issue with the electrical system. They quickly diagnosed the issue and then talked to my original dealership service department to inquire about "good faith" repair the dealership could do to make the repair much less painful financially. Long story short, Lars and Nancy worked with my dealership in Walnut Creek to send my vehicle OVER THERE. They could have done the repair at Swiss Garage and charged me, but instead looked out for me as a customer and negotiated with Chrysler to do the repair for much less since it was fresh out of warranty. Doesn't get much better than knowing I can depend on Swiss Garage to look out for me. No question about it - we will always take our vehicles to Swiss Garage. read more

Everyone at the Swiss Garage truly understands automobiles and they actually care about their customer's needs. Nancy and Lars run the shop like its' a Swiss watch. They are honest, cost conscious, and they warrantee their work. Lars stands behind that warrantee too. He's done it for me. My cars have never run so well. Whether it's a used Miata, an Acura or a 1920's Mercedes, they can repair it and improve the way your car runs. I have never been disappointed. They have established relationships with suppliers and more. I have been referred to body repair and upholstery shops, and I have never been let down. That way they can offered customers like me a full range of services that never disappoints. When my girl friend needed a new car, Nancy introduced us to a car broker; an honest and hard working one - Yeah, go figure. He helped us find the exact car she really wanted. He also negotiated a great price, took care of the paperwork and he even delivered the vehicle to our front door. I don't normally write reviews, but the the Swiss Garage has honestly earned my praise. read more

Yah... nice folks... very nice service manager. A bit optimistic on pricing. Seems like the bill is a hefty 10-15% over the "verbal quote". Anyway, good competent mechanics. Very responsive to issues. I had new brakes put on there (~ $900) and replacement of a failed oil cooler on my A4 (~ $750). But I finally stopped going here because after spending a good $1500 over the year, the owner said it would cost me a fee of $65-70 for him to read out the code of my Check Engine Light. Yah... everyone's got to eat I know... But I bought a simple pocket scanner for around $40 from Amazon and turned off the CEL myself. Hasn't come on since. Haven't been back to this place since either. Anyone know a good local shop for audi/vw repairs? read more

Swiss Garage is a thoroughly honest and competent automobile repair service. We have used this service center for some years now, and I have never been disappointed. Occasionally, they make mistakes (I mean, they are human, after all). If you call it to their attention, every effort is made to fix the problem. The staff is always polite and attentive. You feel completely at ease when leaving your car with them. At this point, I no longer examine their bills closely. They do not over charge and do not perform service that is not indicated. Finding a really trustworthy mechanic is a treat indeed. We have had Hondas, Toyotas and BMWs serviced by them-all without any problems. read more

I cannot recommend Swiss garage highly enough. They are knowledgeable, efficient and honest. Lars, the owner, is incredibly smart and a lovely human being to boot. The place is so clean you can eat off the floor which says something about their attention to detail and precision. Nothing sloppy going on here. Since I don't know much about cars, I've felt very vulnerable to being ripped off since my last mechanic retired. Now I've finally found another garage I can trust. read more

Lars did me a solid on my 2007 BMW. I needed something looked at quickly. He did a diagnostic and fixed it on the spot and charged me peanuts just for the parts. Nancy has been helpful beyond belief. Once we realized my car would be at the shop longer than a day, I was given a loaner car to drive, and ended up having it for an entire month. this place charges a lot for a little work. i uinderstand that it is expensive to work on cars, but these people skimp wherever they can. i had work done to the extent of almost$9000. they only fixed the minimum. they skimped on things like $0.25 o-rings. they actually put a deteriorated o-ring back in the car! it was rediculous. i ended up taking my car to another place and having it done right. if you have more money than you know what to do with, than this place is for you. if you are looking for quality repairs at a fair price, go elsewhere! read more
