5 stars for this crew! A small shop that does things the old fashioned way - hands on, with years of experience and a commitment to a high standard of professional integrity. I'm very glad I found Steve Righetti's shop open, and willing to do a pre-purchase inspection on a used car that I was thinking very seriously of buying. The Carfax was clean. Everything looked terrific to me, everything worked, and it ran well when I drove it. Steve showed me that the car had been in an significant rear end accident, where seam sealer had been haphazardly replaced, and there was an area that didn't line up perfectly. He also pointed out where repairs had been made using spot welds, after a section had been cut to make repairs. All in all Steve reinforced that Carfax is nothing more than a reference tool, and that the MOST important thing when buying a used car (even from a dealer) is to get an experienced professional mechanic to do a complete inspection prior to purchasing. read more

Steve and his team have been working on my Toyota 4Runner (3rd owner with 250k miles) for a couple of years now, and have been super reasonable with the small maintenance issues as well as a couple of big surprises that have come my way. He called him up, put me on the phone with him, and Steve was helping me out within fifteen minutes. Not only was Steve (and his colleague Roger) extremely efficient when troubleshooting my car's problem, but he was extremely kind. He recognized that I was having a rough day while traveling for family matters and kept me smiling while he worked. He was more than fair and did his best to pinpoint the issue at minimal cost, going so far as to drive down to pick up a part so that I could make my way back by the end of Saturday (instead of being stuck until Monday business resumed. I've been coming to Steve Reghetti and Reghetti Automotive for more than 10 years. I used to live nearby in Mill Valley....but I continue to use Reghetti exclsuively even though it's a 40 mile drive from Orinda! First with my BMW, then my Explorer Limited and now my Mercedes SL500. Steve is first and foremost *honest*. But beyond that valuable character trait, he's simply the best diagnostic mechanic I have ever known. Give him the chance and he'll figure out the problem and find a low-cost solution. His idea of a basic oil change is to check every fluid under the hood, give the engine a careful listen for anything I might ignore with the radio blasting away, give the tires and air pressure a check and charge me a fair price for that oil change only. His attention to preventative maintenance has saved me thousands of dollars and kept my cars reliably on the road. On more than one occasion, if I had taken my SL500 to a Mercedes service department instead of to Reghetti, the bill would have likely been been literally triple or more in costs. Steve is friendly, talented, dependable and we've grown to be friends over the years. Actually, every time I visit Steve there are always "customer/friends" getting their cars serviced. His shop is tucked away on Kerner but definitely worth looking for! read more

I needed a new ring gear and battery on my '79 Cadillac....and after that was done, a few other things got repaired along the way, with no charge. I was very happy with their attention to details. I think they could spot problems like an eagle following a mouse in a field at long distance, it seems. There were other things that I can have done, but they wouldn't go ahead without my permission......leaving it for another time. They were very honest and to the point. One of those milestones in life... Finding an auto shop that are really good and you can really trust. They make time. They communicate well. I have a lot of experience under the hood and I can tell you they are really honest. We did two complicated projects recently -- #1 full AC compressor/system replacement on a 2008 X5 with Adaptive Drive - 4 Zone cooling (the hard one). Excellent price. Fast. Clean. Awesome. #2 Ferreting out a vacuum leak on my Mother-In-Law's 2004 PT Ragtop. Several shops had looked at it or tried in the past couple of years. Steve and his posse got it done. Righetti is Honest, friendly, PERIOD.. and doesn't over charge. I have a 2003 VW Jetta with 230k+ original miles, I couldn't get $800 for the VW if I traded it in for a new car, but it runs well! But also means I shouldn't spend a thousand dollars every time something breaks. So I went to his neighbor to blow out my drain plugs (common vw sunroof problem/Steve couldn't do it) and after that service (which the neighbor over charged 100% more than the dealership)neighbor estimated $400 to replace a dry/cracking brake valve/plastic tube that he noticed. Thankfully I said no and went to trustee Steve at Righetti's. He told me to stop by after work, I arrived at 5:30pm. Steve didn't have the part, so his partner Rodger drove to the parts store to pick it up. This was after 6pm! All said and done, Steve charged me $20 for the part and $30 for labor. I don't know how I found this shop, but so happy I did. He doesn't try to upsell me OEM parts for my car. He tries to get me the best deal to keep me safely on the road. I appreciate his honesty and his (and Rodgers) customer service. 5 stars guys! read more

Our family has taken four cars to Righetti Automotive, and we recommend their work. Steve Righetti has been at this location for 40 years, and he stays abreast of the technology in cars. All the technicians are thorough, honest gentlemen. They'll let me know what other repairs might be needed, but there's no pressure. The prices are very fair (lower then other places) and the quality of work is very good. And sometimes one of the techs includes a little safety advice along with his work. It's one of the few auto repair places open on Saturdays. And the owner Steve, is there on Saturdays, too. This place offers good, old-fashioned customer care. It's not the closest repair shop to my home, but it's worth the drive. read more
