Looked on yelp and a bunch of other businesses and I'll save you a bunch of time and tell you that this is by far the cheapest smog test center in Marin. You do have to down load a coupon but I'll attach it to my review so you can just show them and get the discounted rate! I called the facility around 4pm and asked if they could run a smog check on my Toyota Prius that day and they said yes! I arrive at around 4:40 and they saw me immediately with no wait. They ran a few tests which took about 15 mins. The total price was $40+$8 card fee so just under $50 which is a decent deal. I've been to other locations San Francisco as well and this is pretty much the lowest price you can find. The guy running the test was polite and efficient. He did make me wait out in the cold though when I could have just sat in my car and not affected his testing but whatever. Also didn't wear a mask the entire time which seems to be consistent with other people's reviews about not being "COVID safe." Overall, I had a pretty easy in and out experience which was reasonably priced. read more

I have a 1993 Plymouth Voyager, because it's so old it takes much longer to smog. If you have an older vehicle like mine, be prepared to wait as it takes awhile for the tech to do it right. No coupons for older cars because the tech gets a full work out smogging these older vehicles. The young man who did the work was honest, upfront and communicated everything going on and why. I will see you guys next year!! Thanks so much read more

Very happy - downloaded a coupon. Made an appointment. Right on time. walked in the very nice area. Have gone several times here.

I was looking for a cheap and convenient smog check location in Marin, and this one fits the bill! It's a really good deal, especially when you find a coupon. The gentleman who helped me was friendly, pleasant, and attentive. The whole procedure only took 20 minutes -- just enough for a stroll over to the shopping center to grab a chai latte. I'll have this location bookmarked for next time! read more

Good straight shit and got it done with time to spare . Good luck with your test and I was happy

I can no longer recommend these guys and I don't even know if they are in business any longer. The phone number they have on Yelp and on their website doesn't work. They also don't advertise a $29.95 special anymore, and don't actually mention anything other than "price varies". The recent posts about the owner or worker trying to push religious materials on customers also doesn't excite me. read more

Had a Smog check appointment at 9am. Another car showed up at 9 am (no appointment) so I have to wait or reschedule???

Good work but was told I was deceived and there is a hell here. The smog guy was blasting a raging Christian preacher on the radio. It was very innapropriate and unprofessional. read more

Staff are Incompetent and covid unsafe. Undependable. Owner is unreachable by phone. My car failed BV smog testt and BV wrote "free retest" and said to return after I repaired car. When I returned with my repaired car a different BV employee (incorrectly said) he would not test the car because the eval monitor had not reset and I would have to talk to someone else on the weekend. I called 3 other smog shops in San Rafael, they all stated it is fine to retest (after repair) is just the evap monitor s not ready. Took to one and passed just fine. Also, BV worker did not wear a mask and gave a wierd religious recruiting handout with my invoice. read more

I've used these folks for 2 smog tests now. They're great! Done in 30 minutes at a very fair price. I plan to use them every time I need to get smogged. read more

This smog location is more than conveniently close to the DMV, it's also a great find! I wasn't expecting much from a smog station in a gas station, but I was greeted with friendly and professional service. I waited less than 5 min, with a prompt smog of only 20 min. Mike was informative and provided me with my fail (yep - fail... sadly my 2012 did not pass first time), but Mike provided me with the fail codes, looked them up online to help me understand what as possibly wrong with my fuel pump, then printed a list of guys who can repair the problem. I did not expect such amazing, kind, and professional service. I will be back for my passing smog, after I get the error codes repaired. Thanks Mike! To the rest of you Yelpers ... service isn't always leather chairs and coffee in the waiting room... Peetes is walking distance ;) But good honest, capable service technicians, isn't this what we all want. read more

Horrible! Broke my computer port. Do NOT go here. Plugged it in, started the test, then went and yanked my computer input terminal out... ripped a wire. Left it dangling. I had to go to dealership and he had obviously broken it. Incompetent I want nothing to do with and filing complaint read more

We live nearby and were hoping this could be our go to. Both times we have taken a vehicle in for an oil change, we were overcharged more than $100. Both times once i called it out, they feigned ignorance, and then adjusted the fee. Clearly this is a strategy and they figure most will just pay it. read more

I dropped my car of at lunch with the understanding it would be smogged by 3:30. Arrived to find it still in the testing area . I then waited 1 hour while he very slowly and with stops for a cigarette, drink of coke, food and at one point a search for a cable to correctly hook up a diagnostic machine. Cost $101 as my car is a 1995. A nice enough guy but I would advise NOT going here due to the unprofessional conduct and disorganization. ***Since this post I received a call on my personal cell phone from the mechanic of the smog station threatening me with an attorney**** On a good note the manager of the gas station Raja was very sorry for my experience and welcomed the feedback-great customer service. read more

LOVE MIKE. Awesome, professional, fast, honest and the kind of guy you want to take your car to for a smog check. He cares about his customers and it shows. Mike is legit and a man of his word. Smart, too. Thank you, Mike! Susan, the college teacher from SF! read more

A smog chest should not include a prayer card. One of the most bloodthirsty and graphic/horrific images of Jesus I've ever seen & this gentleman was pretty pushy. I said no thanks, don't give me that he said it's the most important thing you'll ever read. Neither the time nor place. I'm not a Christian and I don't need to be proselytized. Starting with your own customers is just bad business sense. In full disclosure, my car failed it's inspection and I would not have written a negative review as he was just doing his job. read more

Took m Saab here to have a nail removed from a tire, in the process of which they discovered my brake pads needed replacing. This was going to take a couple hours which I hadn't counted on, the owner of the shop just gave me the keys to HIS car, said do what you need to do! WHO DOES THIS KIND OF THING ANY MORE, I felt like I was back in 1950s Mayberry RFD! And when I returned, my car was done, they didn't even charge for pulling the nail... read more

Boooooo - does not honor coupon price he has online. says it's actually a "rebate" not the actual price he charges. intentionally misleading - bad business. read more

The new owner was very nice and got me my smog certificate and smog right away. Great news too is that the station is one block from DMV to get your new registration ! read more

Efficient, fast, friendly and a bargain at $29.95. Very convenient to my home. I was in & out very quickly (less than 20 minutes). The service attendant was courteous and helpful. There was no waiting room, but there was a comfortable chair to sit in Don't even think of going elsewhere - it's the best around! read more

These guys are great. They have done all 3 of my cars. A difficult cargo van, an older Porsche that had some difficulty passing. They know what they are doing and are quick. read more

They were great! Service was expeditious, reasonably priced and customer focused! Mike in particular was on the ball, informative and very helpful. Great place to get your car smogged! read more

$89 for a smog check. Very overpriced! Wish I had gone somewhere else. The check was fine but I also had to replace my gas cap so a recheck was $9 more. read more

Best price $39.95 with coupon out the door, no up charges for SUV's or hidden fees. Friendly, in and out in 20 minutes. No 'free car wash' just the best price. Friendly and easy transaction. read more

My experience there was excellent. Mike was friendly and professional. I was in and out in under 30 minutes. It was definitely a fair price and cost me less than a couple other places I had called nearby. I got in and out of there so quickly that I was able to get over to the DMV and get my tags before they closed, which I did not at all expect. I will definitely be back the next time I need my smog check CERT. read more

- Does not keep consistent business hours. - Poor communication. I waited from 9:15AM until 10:45AM for them to open. No sign on the door. None of the other staff knew if they would open. I won't be going back. read more

Came for a smog check on a Sunday. They serviced my car within 30 minutes and they honored the $29.95 website coupon. Friendly and helpful service. read more

I've never written a Yelp review before, but I was treated so fairly, (price), courteously and did not wait long at all. I would absolutely use them again. Didn't get his name, but nice guy. read more

Called two hours ahead for a time to test. Showed up at that time (3:30). No guy there. The mechanic who shares the repair station said the guy hadn't shown up yet, and there were three cars ahead of me. There are many smog check shops nearby, so I used one of them. read more

Don't waste your time. Guy's got a really bad attitude problem and must be paid by the hour because he looks for every excuse to avoid doing his job. read more

Made an online appointment and mentioned "coupon." Service was great--everyone polite, pleasant and fast. Highly recommend!

This guy is way overpriced and he's got an attitude problem. Avoid him!

It is actually $49.95 + $8.00 for the certificate, not the $29.95 they are advertising on this site. Call before you go do not believe anything you read. read more

Guy was super nice and there was almost no wait to get my car smogged. Its just a few blocks from DMV so that was convenient. I understand there are a few places less expensive (I paid $68 out the door) but the proximity to DMV is the reason I went there. Not a bad stop! read more

I called for a last minute appt and he said to come right in. The person who helped me was friendly and professional and even added air to my tires. Plus the location can't be beat. Go shop or to the bank while waiting. The price was the same or cheaper than others that I called. I'd recommend BV Smog. read more

Great service. Friendly staff. Quick. Fair prices. Have and will always come here for my smog check needs!

A fair price and good service BUT after paying the attendant tried to hand me a gospel pamphlet and when I said no thank you, he persisted saying, "what about your guilty conscience? Don't you think you are a sinner?"I did not go there to be confronted about my religious beliefs! Found this deeply offensive and completely inappropriate and unprofessional! read more

Super helpful! Even gave me a ride to the DMV so I could get stuff done while my truck was being smogged. That's a first!

Just had my car smog tested at BV and was very satisfied with the pleasant and prompt service. Convenient location right off the freeway AND the price was right. I also got a coupon on-line and it was emailed to the station. Very efficient! read more

The only caveat to a great review is that you might have to wait. I think the word is out that this is a great and cheap place to get your car smogged with their coupon that is easy to find on line. I called ahead and was told to just come in, but when I showed up a short time later there were several cars ahead of mine. However, I went to the shopping center and when I came back at about the time he told me my car would be done, it was almost ready. read more
