He takes the panels off your doors so you don't have to worry about curing time (not being able to roll down your windows for 2 days sucks). It's been almost three years since Keith installed my tint for my SUV. The tint installed back in Nov 2015 is in perfect condition. Nothing is faded or peeling. I recently accepted a new job offer which unfortunately moves me into an uncovered parking lot. The first thing that came to mind was to get the front windshield tinted ASAP. After doing some heavy research on front windshield tint (even though I've gotten it before) and the different types of tint that shops have to offer in Hawaii, I voted NOT to go with T&T Tinting because their air blue 80 tint is overpriced ($250+) and not as effective as one would think. They also just ripped me on a warranty claim on tint they installed that started bubbling and peeling so I won't be giving them any of my business. The day T&T Tinting turned me down for the warranty claim was the same day I called up Keith, May 6th. Keith was able to schedule me for May 7th at his new location even though I was worried about being able to get it done within the next couple weeks because of my own schedule. He gave me these instructions for his new shop location: The new shop is across the street from the new Liliha Bakery on Nimitz. Address is 560 N Nimitz There are two entrances to the building, you will turn into the second entrance (right before the city mill sign sticking out from the side of a wall) You will drive straight down from that entrance into a "one way" area. His shop is in between a "Collection" or "Collector" store and a "Yoga" studio (no STT sign is installed yet) IF YOU SEE A GREEN DUMPSTER ON YOUR RIGHT SIDE, you have gone too far. Keith is always fun to talk to and has a lot of experience in many different areas of automotive modifications/detailing. He also makes sure to tape and cover all areas of your car that are at risk of getting damaged when wet. Watched him do the windshield, paid cash, and I was out of there. I am very happy with the work done and in a timely manner. And also, since I've gotten my other car done here before, you should know that he does take off your door panel to have the tint fit and cut properly. He does not let his solution spray all over your interior panels/controls. I would say it's an added bonus, but let's just say he does the job properly, 110%. Have you ever heard of the term OG ( Original Gangster)? Well Keith is the OT ( Original Tinter). Have you ever heard of some guys who tell you they can tint your whole car about an hour and that you have to wait 24 to 48 hours before you can roll your windows down? More than not, it's because they don't take off any panels and just shove tint down the window not knowing if the tint is 100% on the window or not. Sometimes they even cut the seal. How do I know? Let's just say it was a lesson learned. After having that bad experience I came across Keith of Special T Tinting and he took the time to explain how he does things and why. It was going to cost a little bit more and take a little more time than some of those fly by night guys. Yes the guy who did my first tint job closed his doors a little after a year of opening. Keith and his crew carefully take off the door panels and thus making sure the tint is on good and wont get caught in the window tract. The best thing is that I don't have to wait a day or two to roll down my windows. They have a small handful of tint which makes it less confusing on which one you should get. He schedule for me to drop it off on a Sunday morning at 8am. So I scheduled my tow truck to drop it off. Got my car to his shop Sunday Morning and he decides to decline the job. When my tow truck arrives there with my Caddilac. Terrible communication, Terrible customer service. Price isn't the problem he could charge me $1000 for the tint I don't even care, but it's the time he waisted. I actually didn't get my car tinted here, but I give this place 5 stars anyway. Our car was originally tinted in California, where the tinting rules are different. When we brought our car to Hawaii, the tint on our back window was too dark to pass the safety inspection (In Hawaii, the rear window for sedans have to allow 35% light pass through +/- 6%). Sooooo, I had to find a place to remove my back window tint. I drove around to three different tinting companies in the area (based on Yelp reviews) and I liked Keith at Special-T-Tinting the best because he just seems so HONEST. Keith inspected the original tint job and told me how it was so poorly performed. For instance, they didn't take off the door panels and place felt on the rubber window guard--as a result the tint gets scratched everytime the window goes up and down. Secondly, they didn't protect and prepare the back window properly, causing damage to the heat lines. Keith's pricing was very fair and cheaper than other places. It cost $20 to remove the back tint. When I asked him about putting legal tint back on in the future, he encouraged me to shop around and didn't try to sell me. His shop doesn't look like much (it's a simple garage), but you can't beat his honesty and experience (in business for "20 yrs"). If I ever have to tint my cars in the future, I will be coming back to Keith. BTW, he carries Solar Gard tint. read more

Had him tint the color closest to being legal to insure it passed safety inspection. he remove the darker tint since it didn't pass, so im good to go. Since getting my new car I needed some tint since Oahu is so hot. Since I've been here before I gave Keith a call to ask for a quote and schedule an appointment. His schedule was really flexible and had many open dates. I asked if he still uses solar guard and if it still has lifetime warranty, and it did. Came a little before 8 AM and he was chilling outside. Handed him my keys and told me he would be done at 11. When I came back at 11 my car was done just as he said. I paid with my credit card and got my receipt and warranty info. Easy and reliable service. He told me he might be moving again soon as they are going to develop something at his current location. He wouldn't give me a price over the phone and requested that I brought my car down to his shop. I left work early just to get to his shop in a timely fashion. He looked over my car and we agreed on a price and I had an appointment for mid day Sunday. Oddly he brought up his bad review with Thang and told me about how he denied his car. Keith is soooo awesome, patient, knowlegeable & impressive! He taught me so much with his knowledgeable wisdom on tint and cars, he did a magnificent job which he put a lot time, care, and hard work into my car! The previous company (T&T tinting) put tint onto my vehicle before I bought the 5 year old car. My 2004 Toyota Camry was sold to me in 2009 by the Toyota Dealer in Mapunapuna, I left the dealer with the tint and it looked fine, but about 2016 bubbles appeared all over the back window when I went for safety inspection in 2016 it would not pass safety because of the bubbles their tint caused on my back window. I called TNT and they said they couldn't do it without a warranty but their sticker was on the car and it was apparent they were the tint "specialist" I took my car to Keith and the previous tint job by TNT put on was almost impossible to remove because the previous tint from T&T tinting was such a cheap tint it chipped every inch of the way instead of peeling off with steam like a decent tint job should. For one thing TNT didn't even try helping me even as little as charging a minimal fee but instead told me in fact no one would be able to remove their tint and could do it for a fee I would never pay just to remove tint. Long Long story short Keith did the job with NO problem and I am so very happy. My safety is passed and I am a happy customer and will return to him for future jobs and refer him to everyone! Just moved to Hawaii from the mainland and shipped my Porsche Cayenne here. As I was driving my car home from the Matson port, I realized that the sun was baking me. I yelped car tinting and found a few different businesses with really good ratings. This was the second number I dialed after getting a machine on the first call. Keith answered and told me to stop by sometime. In a couple days, I went by with my wife and he was super enthusiastic and knowledgeable. He educated us on the different types of tints, including the high quality ceramic that he uses and the cheapo $79 tints that you can find elsewhere. He uses this heat bulb device and slides in various tinted window panes so you can feel the heat and see the light that is transmitted through various options. 4 hours later, we returned and the job was done. He and his assistant take real pride in their work. It was $250 for the whole car. He says he is not the cheapest, and I didn't shop around at all since I generally look for quality, and I feel like I got a great deal. We are getting another car in the next week or so and we are definitely taking that one in to Special-T to get it tinted as well. Highly highly recommended. read more
