Spearhead Coffee is located right in the heart of Paso Robles. The shop itself has a good amount of seating and tons of items that you can purchase with their logo on it. Some of the items are hats, beanies, shirts, etc. The menu is pretty straightforward for a local coffee shop: espresso based beverages, cold brews, and teas. They also have a few pastry selections to choose from like muffins and croissants. // DRINKS // VANILLA LATTE: As basic as you can get but absolutely delicious. I enjoyed this very much since it was a chilly day outside. The amount of vanilla syrup added was just the right amount and not too sweet. AZTEC MOCHA: Mocha latte with a kick. It had a spices added to it but I can't put my finger on what it was. Almost like cinnamon but it also slightly tasted like a gingerbread cookie. Me and my craving wanted to stop a coffee shop before leaving back to the San Fernando valley after our wine tasting experience and decided to give this place a try!! About 10 mins from the wineries, you will need to park in the streets or possibly find parking in the little parking lot next to the coffee show whichever is easier. So we order a vanilla latte, miel brew and got myself an espresso shot since I'm a caffeine addict lol and omg their flavor is out this world , authentic, sweet but not sweet , you can taste the coffee on all your pallets of the tongue ! Blast of flavor in my mouth HOWEVER service wasn't the greatest, we asked questions and felt like the answers were forced and the employee was Either having a long day or possible went wine tasting the night before ! It is a cute coffee spot in the square. Longest line I have probably ever been in for coffee. Because of the long line, customers were getting upset on wait times, drinks sat on the bar getting cold as they only called out the drink type and the baristas seemed overwhelmed and not the friendliest. Got an americano, pumpkin spice latte and nitro cold brew. The americano was quite "weak", the pumpkin spice was more of a chai latte style and the nitro cold brew was quite underwhelming. I'll admit that I'm picky, and not drinking 'regular' coffee makes it even more complicated. There's very few places that do decaf, and if they offer one, it's a watered down decaf espresso. Yeah, that's sound about as bad as you think. But not Spearhead! I've been back multiple times for their pour over decaf. I don't know many details about it, but I know it's worth the time it takes to make. And they have gluten free treat options that are good! I thank my friends for turning me onto this place, otherwise I'd have been forced to drink awful decaf in Paso for who knows how long. read more

This review isn't about the coffee--I never actually got to try it. It's for the service, which, let's just say, isn't exactly welcoming to out-of-towners. I ended up abandoning my coffee order because it took so ridiculously long to make. The line was only five people deep, with a few others waiting around, so I thought I'd be in and out in no time. But no. I placed a simple order for an americano and then proceeded to wait...and wait...and wait. Meanwhile, two women who were clearly on a first-name basis with the baristas managed to get their drinks within two minutes, even though they were behind me in line. At that point, I'd been standing there for a solid 10 minutes, just watching this play out. For a drink that takes about 50 seconds to prepare, I waited a whopping THIRTY MINUTES--and paid six bucks for the privilege. I had to leave without it because I was going to be late for my sister's graduation. Now, I get that I'm from the Bay Area and my patience with slow service isn't exactly endless, but 30 minutes for a small americano is beyond the pale. Literal favoritism in a coffee line, serving the locals first while the rest of us stand around like we've got nothing but time. Not a great look. Next time I drive through Paso, I'll just throw six dollars out the window on the freeway--it'll have the same effect. read more

Spearhead is a must when passing thru Paso. Their coffee is high caliber and we'll-known amongst coffee heads in CA like myself. I had a pumpkin spice latte with oatmilk. Although seasonal and basic, the pumpkin sauce was made with actual pumkpin purée and it's quite good! Probably one of the best I've had. I always buy their beans every time I pass by as well. I purchased their Costa Rican beans this time around. Not a huge fan of the seating with the backless chairs but the service and quality make it worth the trip. read more

This place is not run properly! The managers are rude and talk down to younger staff. The other managers have no idea what is going on in there. The turn over is ridiculous and now I see why. The young staff are all smiles, polite and interact so well with all the people that come in, until the "manager" walks in and the mood is completely different. Got the Mikey which is a nitro cold brew with Dominican chocolate topped with milk and was pleasantly surprised. Very smooth and chocolatey but not too sweet. It's conveniently located right off the main square area of downtown Paso, with plenty of street parking. It's a cute, aesthetically pleasing coffee shop that even sells their own apparel! When we walked in we noticed the line was very long...much longer than we had expected, but we figured since there were so many people there it was worth the wait. We ordered an americano and an oat milk latte - both were great! They make the coffees as you order, and they also do pour over which I think was what held them up a bit.
