Spats is truly a place where everybody knows your name. The servers were very friendly, especially Brittney. She was very attentive and engaging. The restaurant lighting is on the dimmer side of things. For me, it made it more relaxing and I instantly went into chill mode. Spats is well worth the visit. Steak Dianne- The tenderloin medallions were seasoned very good. I would've enjoyed this dish even more, if the meat was of a better quality. But the brandy mushroom sauce was out of this world. Spats Burger- Simple burger that consisted of L.T.O, and Bacon. With a 1000 Island sauce. What stood out the most about this burger, was the fact the hamburger was seasoned. Bang Bang Shrimp- really good tasting dish, just the right amount of Thai chili sauce. The side addition of the slaw was the perfect complement

Looking for Friday Fish Fry in Appleton, we tried this place and it was good! They have a lot of fish choices and samplers if you cant pick just one. We tried peach old fashioned, pretzels w/ beer cheese and several kinds of fish. All good and friendly staff.

bartenders are gladiators ! These ladies work their tails off! This was our first time at Spats and the reviews didn't disappoint. We arrived at 5:30 on Friday, ordered a drink at a full bar and Stacy didn't know who we were hit came out from behind the bar to tell us she was watching for a seat for us, ok full bar...and to come and make us feel speciAl...great job Stacy! Now on to Bri, she just had a bay and was also crushing it behind the bar! seriously these ladies are great and work extremely hard! Bri suggested the Walleye which would normally never eat, that lemon sauce was great! the greens were crips and I was very happy with the flavor of the potato pancakes. The perch was also good and lightly breaded . great cole slaw. we will be back !

Wow! What a friendly place! Our bartenders Olivia (pictured) and Brianna (owner) were so friendly, very welcoming, and attentive to our needs. Brianna and Nick just took over the business mid September 2021 and kept the name "Spats". We went as a family for the Friday night fish fry and I got the crab cake dinner which was delicious! The staff and food over all is great and we will be returning. Highly recommend!

Whelp, we had to go back to Spats to try some other items. Started out with that amazing bang bang shrimp again! Hubby had the steak Diane which was really really awesome! Those round potatoes were melt in your mouth! The steak was also very good with that very flavorful gravy. I opted for the Bacon cheeseburger with truffle fries. Food seems to be very consistent and amazing! Can't wait to go back again!

I had dinner at Spats while on a business trip. They are situated in a downtown area with other shops, and have their ownparking lot. The decor inside is dark and fairly dated to me, but the food was very good. When I arrived, I asked if they served their full menu at the bar, and they confirmed that they did. Since I was eating alone, this was perfect. The menu is fairly large with many options. I chose the 7 oz tenderloin which was topped with 2 onion rights, and came with a choice of potato and glazed carrots. You also had the choice of soup or salad. The steak was great - it was cooked perfectly (it's rare that you ask for medium and actually get medium) and the onion rings were fantastic. The baked potato and salad were good, but nothing special. I did not care for the carrots; the sauce made them oddly sweet for me. The staff was nice. The waitress was attentive and made sure I was happy with the meal. The only thing was that the bartender, while friendly, didn't refill my drink (just soda since it was a business trip) unless specifically asked. Overall I would definitely go back again.

The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Service was very prompt and we had a nice cozy booth which was great for date night. The food was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I ordered tenderloin in a mushroom sauce which was the most flavorful I have ever tasted. It was served with soft red potatoes and asparagus. My wife had the ribeye which she also said is the best she's had in the Valley. Will definitely go back for more!

I went to Spats for my birthday last night. It was my first time there. We were the only ones inside and there were a few people outside on their patio. We both ordered different steaks. The appetizers took a while to get (almost 20 min) and we had to share a small dipping sauce, which I thought was weird during these Covid times. We waited for our meals for so long (35 minutes after the appetizers came out) that the bartender asked is if we wanted any boxes and our check, not realizing we didn't get our food. He offered to refill my wife's pop but not mine. The indoor staff disappeared most of the experience and I had to wait over 30 min before I had to ask for a refill. When the meals came, my wife's tenderloin was medium-well (she ordered rare). Mine was done as I requested. Both meals came with a smashed red potato and asparagus; however, my potato was in 3 weird shapes and fried and hers looked like you'd expect. They substituted asparagus with brussel sprouts without mentioning it or asking if it was ok. We didn't receive steak knives and the waitresses didn't ask if we needed anything else when doing off our food (my wife wanted steak sauce). We couldn't ask after that because everyone disappeared again. It wasn't busy. When we left, there was one come on the patio and us. Anyone else have this kind of experience? Sorry it's long-winded but I normally don't have experiences this worrying.

I Came Back to Appleton... Wisconsin Immediately Fed Me…read more There are many ways to kick off an HS Reunion weekend. Apparently, the correct Wisconsin way is cheese curds, a soft pretzel, beer cheese, mustard, and craft beer. One of my host~family sisters and longtime friends brought me to Stone Arch Brewpub shortly after I touched down in Appleton, and this was exactly the kind of welcome~back I needed. Let's talk about those cheese curds. Pillowy. Soft. Tender. Ridiculously good. I don't say this lightly, but these may be some of the best cheese curds I've ever eaten. Then came the pretzel~super buttery and incredibly soft~with Wisconsin beer cheese and mustard for dipping. At that point, the reunion could have ended and I would've considered the trip successful. But we weren't done. We worked our way through an assortment of craft beers spanning Hazy IPAs, West Coast IPAs, Sours and Gose~style beers. The atmosphere was cool, the service was great, and the combination of food, beer and catching up with an old friend made this feel like the perfect beginning to my return to Appleton. Sometimes the best travel experiences aren't about finding the newest or trendiest place. Sometimes it's about sitting down with someone who knows you, sharing some great food and beer, and realizing some things really do feel like coming home. Stone Arch was a damn good way to start the reunion. Would absolutely return.

I didn't know how busy it gets, but they had plenty of tables open, although we came at about 5pm. The ambience was favorable to the dining. The lighting was intimate but not dark. They were extremely friendly and accommodating and had no problem getting all of us taken care of. I kept it pretty simple and got a burger and a beer. The burger was really good and everything came out well, especially considering how many of us there were. What really stood out though was the service. One person in our group is extremely picky about how she likes her steak cooked and ended up sending it back three times. Each time they were friendly about it and genuinely seemed more concerned with getting it right for her than being annoyed about having to remake it again. For us to come in with 25 people on such short notice and still have everyone be so friendly and accommodating was really appreciated. They handled our group incredibly well and never made us feel like an inconvenience. Definitely a 5-star experience and somewhere I would come back to.

It was a Trio Diavolo, a trio of protein with squid pasta, and a red sauce. I didn't understand that the proteins were diced bits that were stirred into the red sauce pasta. I actually thought the protein was separate from a side of pasta. It disappointed me because I generally dislike seafood in red sauce, but honestly, that wasn't their fault so I still gave them a high rating. Service was friendly and playful. Pretty efficient and seemed to like their job. It is a beautiful restaurant with a pretty amazing view, even if the water is at very sad low levels. Maybe this is natural, I've never been here before. All of the wildlife/birds really enhanced the experience. Flocks of seagulls (not the band), and surprisingly large number of pelicans were wonderful to watch. You can see the riverfront exterior and distant bridge in my standard and 360° photos. In November 2025 the burger special was the Apple Butter Badger burger, which was a 1/3 pound patty topped with smashed fried cheese curds, sliced apples, apple butter, and wonton strips on a salted pretzel bun. My family and I stopped for dinner so I could give it a try. In addition to the burger I got tater tots. While I don't mind mixing savory and sweet in combos I'm not used to, like having apple on a burger, this particular burger was fine to try once but it's probably not something I'd get again. The apple didn't stand out until the last couple of bites when all I had left was the middle (I eat around the middle first). The wonton strips seemed unnecessary and I would have preferred the pretzel bun without the salt on top. The apple butter was great and stood out in every bite. The tater tots may have been the crunchiest I've ever had and, as someone that has crunch as their favorite food texture, I thoroughly enjoyed them. My wife got the PB&J burger with strawberry jelly and no jalapenos. One kid for the regular Badger burger and the other got just a plain cheeseburger. They also had fries for their side. All of them liked their meals and said they'd get them again. Prices seem super reasonable compared to most other restaurants. The bar area and tables were mostly full, yet our food came out reasonably quick, which was appreciated. Home Burger Bar is a place I'd keep coming back to.
