That timeline quietly doubled to four weeks with no proactive communication or explanation. When we arrived on the promised completion date, we were told--without apology--that the frames were not ready. We followed up and were assured they would be complete the following day. Yet, upon returning once more, the frames were still not finished. Not a single phone call, update, or gesture of accountability was offered throughout this entire process. For a business that charges a clear premium for its services, the lack of professionalism and basic customer service is astonishing. Delays happen, but silence and indifference should never be part of the experience. Truly one of the most disappointing customer service encounters we've had--an unfortunate 10 out of 10 in all the wrong ways. I cannot, in good faith, recommend Frame Makers of Tacoma.

The coffee shop is a bonus. I had never been in Bonney Lake before meeting my now husband of 5 plus years, and I have developed the habit of coming here whenever anything happens in my life. Everything is expensive these days, but I come to Ben Franklin to walk the aisles and feel my feelings. I come here when I am sad, scared, happy, excited. Through celebrations and losses, milestones and ordinary days, it has been a constant place of comfort, creativity, and possibility. I do not usually let staff at any store affect my day one way or another. They have their own lives and stories that I know nothing about... every employee I have encountered here has been kind, helpful, and genuinely pleasant. My child is growing up with paintbrushes instead of iPads, with crochet hooks and yarn, fabric, puzzles, sewing machines, and handmade keepsakes that become symbols of memory. She is learning how to create, imagine, and build with her own hands. A big part of that is because this place exists. We truly love Ben Franklin Crafts. Please do not go anywhere.

Very disappointing customer service experience…read more I stopped by Ben Franklin Crafts in Bonney Lake today looking for some stretch or jersey-type fabric that I could use for a backdrop. Unfortunately, my experience with the customer service in the textile department was very disappointing. I asked the sales associate if they carried any stretch fabric. Before I could even finish explaining what I was looking for, she cut me off and told me that they didn't have any stretch fabric. As I continued looking through the fabrics, I found several materials that clearly had some stretch, including crushed velvet and other fabrics in different textures. I pointed out the few fabrics that I found to her and said that there were a bunch of stretch fabrics, and her response was, "You call that a bunch?" I then explained that I was looking to use the fabric for a backdrop, rather than clothing. She responded, "Oh, I thought you needed it to make clothes or something." The interaction continued in a way that left me feeling like I was more of an inconvenience than a customer who was simply asking for assistance. At that point, I walked toward the exit but decided to speak with a manager because I felt uncomfortable leaving without addressing what had happened. I asked for a manager but was directed to a supervisor. I explained the situation, and her immediate response was essentially that they didn't have any stretch fabric. I told her that I had actually found several examples myself. She then said, "I guess they're new." Unfortunately, I didn't feel like my concern was really being heard or that anyone was interested in helping me find what I was looking for. I ultimately gave up and left without purchasing anything. It's not the fact that they may not have had the exact fabric I wanted--that's understandable. It's the way the situation was handled. A simple, "I'm not sure what we have, but let's take a look," would have made a huge difference. I wanted to support a local business, but based on today's experience, I left feeling very disappointed and uncomfortable. Hopefully management takes this feedback seriously, because customer service matters just as much as the products you carry.

I wanted to send them a guide print to serve as a reference but they would not let me do it and no proofing available. It was a large Giclee so I was a little concerned as I have not ever worked with a lab that refused both guide print and proof. It was a reproduction of my wife's oil painting so color matching is important to us. Communication was over the phone and email so I might have gotten better service in person. A bit defensive when answering questions. Maybe it was me? or they are just too busy because they do good work at reasonable prices.

Then I had to figure out how to get it from Tulsa to Seattle. Luckily, a friendly UPS employee offered to pick it up in person at a specific appointment time and ship it. While removing the artwork from the package, I accidentally got tape stuck to the back and ripped off a layer of paper. The print already had creasing in the corner when I bought it. On top of that, I unrolled it on my bed, where my cat's fur stuck to it like a magnet. Plus I crumpled it a bit while putting it back in the box. Still, I hoped my thrift store find just needed some TLC. Carri Tobler at Artco Framing and Gallery in Tacoma did a beautiful job of covering the damage. She recommended the perfect mat and frame for my first custom framing purchase. I drove all the way to their shop from Seattle because of a recommendation and am confident I made the right decision. It feels good to support a woman-owned small business that also promotes the work of local artists. Suzanne II is now the statement piece of my living room, where she reminds me of a quiet moment after the curtain comes down on a play. Alone, holding a bouquet of partially crushed flowers, we're both left to ponder what comes next. For me, that will be another visit to Artco Framing and Gallery when I need custom framing.

But, I used to LOVE hobby lobby! They used to have pretty good sale prices, at least. I think they're still an ok deal for some items, but not craft items, or at least the majority of craft items, anymore. Granted, there are some things you can ONLY find at hobby lobby, or find them there for that cheap. But overall, since the price increases, its simply not worth it for what you get. And they do have MANY overpriced items as well. But most of the discount items are home good items, which are depressing. And I will NOT shop at Michaels... and I don't think I'm legally allowed to publicly say why. But trust me. Maybe shop locally and support good local businesses and reuse stores instead. I personally think its worth it . Though not all local shops are run by good people, just something to keep in mind as well. Overall, I will still shop here. But only on sale, and for things that are unique and I can't find literally anywhere else. Or if I want a girls day out and can afford to, and feel like, "splurging". I will say, customer service is always great here, at least at the puyallup one. So that makes it worth it as well, if you don't really care about the money, and enjoy spending here. The pay by the bag thing was a total scam. I tried my best to navigate what was supposed to go in…read morebags and what was off limits but it was a mess. The smallest signs that said "not for bags" were written in sharpie on tape. I was sure I picked all the bag eligible items but when I went to check out every item was rung up. So instead of 7 dollars it came out to 23. In response to owner- I looked for the signs as best I could, I thought all these things I picked out were good to go. The signs are very small and not obvious so it's hard to tell what is individually priced and what's not. Everything in the store has a price on it. But yes next time I will triple read the signs to avoid paying 22 dollars for old pins and beads!:)
