Truly the most horrific internet service I have ever had the misfortune of paying for. If there's a way to pay for GFiber or Starlink, I promise it is worth it. In the end, I never expected the internet speeds I was paying for, almost nobody can provide that (my bar is pretty low, especially in Idaho). What gets me is the lack of consistency. You like playing online video games? Not anymore you don't. At some point you will be disconnected and lose any progress. You like streaming an entire movie? Okay captain entitled, get off your high horse. Joking aside, I think their recent promotions to try and lock customers into their service show how panicked they are, and how much they were relying on a borderline monopoly to extort money from a group of hostage customers. Choose literally anything else. read more

I helped my parents switch to Google fiber because it is cheaper for same/better speeds. I had no issues canceling with sparklight or bringing in the equipment. It was quick, painless, effecient. The woman that helped me was lovely, efficient and smart. She answered all of my questions with intelligence, compassion and patience. I used sparklight for about 7 months and it was great, no issues and I actually prefer the sparklight app over Google Fiber. read more

I have the 1 gig internet package and the internet keeps dropping out randomly. Tech showed up and replaced the connection at the pole. Problem is fixed. Works great now no more dropouts. read more

Service up to a few weeks ago has been great. Now, service has too many interruptions, usually in the afternoon. Service acknowledges these interruptions; however, cannot say when (or if) the problem(s) will be fixed. However, the big problem is they are raising their rates by five bucks, but offering a five dollar discount for direct pay. I have had direct pay since day one, but on a call (that took me about eight minutes to get through to a human) that five buck discount is for checking not for a CC. Ok, so after wasting that (that info could have been provided in the email but wasn't), I went online and changed it to a checking account and was told that they could not do the auto pay this month (it's still two weeks away) so they immediately deducted fifteen bucks from my checking. This action solved a big problem for me. Google is installing fiber in our neighborhood and I was not to interested; now, my reply to them when they knock on the door is where would they like to install the fiber optics cable box on the house. The immediate deduction was nothing to be, other than a pain in my rear since I float over 2K in my checking at all times; however, what would happen if the people DID NOT have the funds to cover it, or they did but this could cause other checks to bounce? Sparklight appears to try, they had good service; however, it appears they are headed for a corporate surprise when they find their customer calling to tell them to disconnect and they have jumped to the 1GIG or higher service offered by Google. Will it wake them up too late? Or do they really give a damn about customer service? (I would have sent this email to someone at their headquarters; however, they do not offer any email addresses, preferring for a person to call, be on the phone for a period of time and then talk to an agent who cares not one bit about a complaint from a customer.) NOTE: Just read reply. If the lady from Sparklight thinks I want to spend time waiting for someone to talk to or even take time to call she is badly mistaken. As noted, when Google is ready to install to my house, I will sign up and move on. And the sad part is, up until the fiasco with the increase, then a chance to decrease and he minor interruptions, I had told a friend last week I had no desire to change internet providers. How times change so quickly when big companies cannot comprehend a customer's reaction to complete incompetence by a few employees. Live and learn or move on and close the doors. read more

We pay $100 a month and rarely get to use it. We get kicked off 3 or 4 times an episode when watching shows, we have to turn it off when we want to use our phones to search something on the internet, we've had a technician out 3 times in the last year and there is no change... it's just a scam, but what to you do? Not a lot of options and they know it. There's no reason to try harder when their customers are pretty much stuck here. read more

OMG, this business is so bad. For years, voice would not sync with video and technicians could not solve it. (This wasn't an issue with TV service going back to the dawn of TVs!) Techs denied it for years. Finally, the techs just gave up and started admitting the problem was unsolvable. Then there were the reliability problems especially during rush hours. Techs would blame it on the users, interference in the house, etc., even when service would be up and down with absolutely not change to the house. Then they finally blamed the "lack of nodes" in the neighborhood for things getting bogged down, like this would help us to understand and accept the problem. Not our fault Sparklight management mismanaged their company and did not install the infrastructure and fail safe measures needed to insure reliability. And do you think they discounted the horrible service? Not a chance. As I returned the equipment, they didn't have a way to drop it off. No one at the facility and they locked the rack away where it was not accessible. Do you think they stopped charging me when there was no way I could drop off the equipment? Again, not a chance. Sparklight has every bit of a horrible reputation as CableOne, which was Sparklight's previous name. They don't care about customers so why should I care about them or anyone that supports them. And no one there takes accountability for problems unless forced... ...and even then they don't fix it. Companies like this are what is wrong with America. Thanks everyone here for exposing the truth for those not fortunate to be able to. read more

Cableone is changing its name to Sparklight! (probably to distance itself from the horrible reputation it has built up). So in honor of this change I am going to update my review by showing you some of the many great features you can expect with Sparklight. *Outages of your landline and internet at least twice monthly with absolutely no explanation from the company! (my internet and phone were out 6 hours today with no warning.) *Constant rate hikes with no added value for the customer! *Being charged $50 extra for internet without a data cap! (Every country besides the U.S. gets this for free. Also their service costs about 1/4 as much overall.) *Outright lies about how data caps "ensure all of [their] customers have a great online experience with limited interruptions", and "help them to manage and maintain [their] network." (High-level executives from internet companies have said on the record that this is a complete lie.) *Anger and disappointment from being manipulated by a greedy corporation! *Absolutely terrible tech support from poorly trained employees! *Price fixing due to a lack of competition! *Endless frustation! *And so many more horrible experiences! Sign up for Sparklight today and let them screw you over the hardest they can legally get away with! Sparklight, because for 100 meg internet you have no choice! read more

They price gauge you for the crappiest internet. It's always slow and half of the time it's completely down.

Sparklight is beyond terrible and with the frequent outages and horrible service with an agent in some foreign country who barely speaks English, customers are being ripped off! What an injustice and pathetic service. read more

I suffer from anxiety and depression and being forced into giving Sparklight my money against my will is making my symptoms much worse. Due to there being a large number of trees in my area I have no choice for internet faster than 20 megs, which I need for my job. Sparklight needlessly uses draconian data cap charges to extort money from their customers to make up for lagging cable subscriptions and to punish people for streaming. I can't afford higher bills to get out of their extortion. I am suffering badly from constant anxiety related to whether or not I am using too much data. That's right. Their business practices are causing me psychological harm. I would do anything to get out of doing business with them, but there is no real alternative in my area. The second there is, I am gone. read more

Pocatello, Idaho I am deeply dissatisfied. I purchased a business that was using spark light. I've had several attempts to switch over the account from the previous owner to my name. As of yet I have been unsuccessful. I did get added to the account so that I can make decisions. We moved offices, and I wanted the internet to be available at our new office. Spark light told me they could give me a temporary internet at the new location for up to a month with no additional charge. So I added the temporary internet and got our new office running. As directed I let them know when we were functional so they could turn off the internet in the original office. However, instead, they turned off the Internet to our new office. Did I mention that our business requires the internet to function. So for a day and a half I had no internet until a technician could come and reconnect us. I'm uncertain why they could shut it off remotely but they couldn't turn it on remotely. They chose to bill me for the temporary internet that had been set up. And not bill my normal account, but create and bill and new, temp account. So I never got notification. They did send notifications to the dead email address of the former owner. Somehow the collections company they sent me to found me easy enough. Turns out my request to become the account owner was made to the temporary account, but not to the main account. So to review, I was charged for an internet service I was told would be free. The internet went down for a day and a half after we got it transferred. And then I was sent to collections for a bill they never sent me, and that they weren't supposed to charge me for. Their internet service is fine, but they're technical support and customer service are left wanting. If you choose Sparklight after reading this review you have been warned. I didn't even mention how every time I call in the phone menu automatically takes me to residential Internet, and when I talk to a real person they have to transfer me again to the business internet department. And to the bot April, who will ask me for my email so they can reach out, I've already talked directly to sparklight customer support and posted this on sparklight's site. My information is already there. read more

This company truly takes advantage of its customer base. They force you to up your packages over the smallest increase in data usage, the customer service is terrible, they won't solve any speed issues that you encounter, And heavens forbid if you pay your bill one day late. read more

The Cable One website is horrible. It is not user friendly and you just keep getting lead around in circles or to "that webpage does not exist" when trying to find your own bill. It's so aggravating. If you came across it looking for cable service you would question it legitimacy that's how bad it is. read more

When I started with cable one service was good, no problems. Iv been with them for over 5 years now and this last year is getting worse by the day. I`m constantly having to reset the modem, as many as 3 or 4 times a week and I am without service completely for one reason or another at least once a week. As I type this my service is less than half the speed I am paying for. My download is supposed to be 100mbps, right now it is between 40 and 50mbps and dropping, my upload is .02mbps. This is becoming a regular occurrence with them. Come on already, its been messed up or down for two days now. read more

Started out great!!! 600 Gb's/mo....No buffering, or problems! Went on vaca and came home to slower internet!!!! It's been buffering all morning!! Guess if you don't use it, they slow down your access. read more

As much as I pay per month for just Internet ($50.00+) it goes down(or slows down) way too often. Every other day or so, I get kicked off. Sometimes, like tonight, 3 times so far in 3 1/2 hours. Almost feels like a scam. I am looking in to a replacement service. read more

Customer Service reps thus far have been horrible. Rude and condescending individuals and I haven't even had service hooked up yet. I hate Comcast, but so far, my experience with Cable One has been much worse. read more

To go straight to the point, Cable One's services suck big time. Been using it for two years now. In the beginning, it seemed ok, even though we were going above the cap. We decide to move to the higher tier - with promised improved speeds - but for the past months (at least 6) I can't seem to stream any movie in HD, despite the service mentioning 100MBps. Called once and was told if a technician were to come and verify at our home and found normal speeds as advertised, I would have to pay him out of pocket. WtH? We know how those things work. The day someone comes over, speeds will magically be fine. Two hours after they are gone, things will degrade again. The speeds I even tested with various speed tests didn't come close to the 100MBps. With every passing day, there are less and less things I can view conveniently with their internet without buffering here and there! I really wish one had other alternatives here in Pocatello - Idaho! read more

I have been a loyal cableone customer since 2004. My bill keeps going up and when I went into the main office today to inquire about my bill, the customer representative was very rude and condescending. My bill was over $200. His option for me was to get another provider if I was dissatisfied instead of negotiating for a credit discount. I will drop cableone after this encounter today. read more

So after an absolute awful experience with Cable One I canceled and decided to go to Century Link. Understand I used to work for Century Links' predecessor Qwest and hated them and swore I'd never have thier service. Much has changed in 10 years. Cable One is gouging their internet customers because they are clearly losing tv subscriptions. What do they do? Cap your data and inflate how much you actually use. They automatically up your plan until you're paying over 100 a month for crappy internet. The customer service is awful. I called to schedule the disconnect for a week out. After confirming multiple times the date the internet was cut off the same day. After the business office closes there is no way to reconnect. No after hours staff. Only tech support and they couldn't or wouldn't help. Mobile hotspot to the rescue. Anyhow. Cable One users all over the web have anecdotal accounts of data charges continuing to stack up even with the modem unplugged. I feel they charged me 1.5 gig for every gig I used. There is a reason they are so awful on the reviews. They earn every star. read more

Cable One is the worst provider I've ever had. I do not have TV, but have telephone and internet from them. The first problem is that when I signed up for a 2-year contract, they told me that the second year the rate would go up "to our regular published price." I was unable to find this price but was told it was about 10% higher. In fact, it was 25% higher. The second problem is that the service is terrible. After about 6 months of trouble--having phone calls drop, losing the Internet while working on line, about 15 tech support calls (all taking at least 30 minutes--they had to step me through troubleshooting each time) and two service calls with technicians (necessitating lost time from work), they finally found a broken line outside in the neighborhood. The manager finally called to apologize to me and said that they'd had months of trouble in the neighborhood. Interestingly, until I told a tech support agent that I was going to write to the public utilities commission, no one had bothered to check the outside wires. I will say that their phone support and field service people have been pleasant and helpful, but my experience shows that at a management leve there's a serious lack of concern for providing good service. read more

I am so disgusted with you guys. The way you treat your customers/former customers is a joke! You should be ashamed of yourselves. I only had service with you for four-five months and I'm so glad I decided to cancel my service and take my business else where. I will never recommend your services to anyone. Any chance I get to share my story, I will gladly take advantage of it. I was set up on automatic payments with you. Never had a missed/late payment. I called to cancel my services with you after deciding to do business with another company. This was in July/August, 2016. In December I received a notice from you stating that I had an overdue balance of roughly $14, but the amount was being written off as a bad debt. I was confused because since closing my account, I had not received one email, letter, invoice, or phone call alerting me of this unpaid balance. The very next day, I received a letter from a COLLECTION AGENCY stating that they were attempting to collect this outstanding balance of $14. Are you fricking kidding me? For $14?? Is there a reason you could not send me a bill, a letter, an email, or call me to settle this account balance in the 4 months that had passed before sending a $14 bill to collections? How ridiculous!! I take my credit very serious and don't appreciate a $14 bill, that would have quickly been paid had you attempted to notify me, hitting my credit history! I paid the stupid collection agency the $14. But it was the stupidest way for you guys to try and collect the $14. I will get my monies worth through word of mouth. I will share my story with everyone I know and everyone I don't know. You keep treating customers like this and your competitors will bury you in the ground!! read more

Omg omg omg ! Never ever again ! Not a service , just a mockery.I lived in Idaho since 2011 and used them for almost 4 years , but there are limits to patience. The lousiest least stable Internet service I ever had in my life and I lived in a lot of places.Every other week I come home from work or just in the middle of the day the service will be interrupted. Most of the time no explanations would be provided.Modem we leased from them was cheap piece of crap(even had to buy router for Wi-Fi devices separately).Customer service was lamer then the lamest joke you've ever heard (Teleperformance style if you know what I mean).Technical support located somewhere in AZ and only able to tell you we don't know the issue is on your end in English and Spanish.I prefer stable connection and no surprises , so after I waited half a day for their specialist to install INTERNET to the house we bought last summer and calling them and listening to what ? We don't know there is nothing about it in our system , I properly notified them a week ahead.I gave up brought them back their modem and canceled. I value my time and each time I need to reach resource or use application I expect valid internet connection.Shame on Cable one ,hope they will go out of business soon with what they call "service".Got different provider and guess what ? No interruptions since July when I switched. Also they seem overpriced for what they have to offer it should not be more than $20+leased modem per month(you will still have days when you can not use it anyway) read more

I personally never had an issue with the service itself. My problem arose when I kept exceeding my data caps and automatically getting elevated to the next tier of service. Once my bill went above $100 per month, and my family was still exceeding our data caps, I felt it was time to look for another provider. Still not a real issue as I was well aware of the data caps and undeniably went well over the limits. I returned my modem and discontinued my service. CableOne was very easy to deal with throughout the entire process. I would have had no problem recommending their service to other "lighter" internet users. I made sure to return my equipment before the next billing period began as to not accrue any new charges. I was told everything was set and my account was closed. However, after a couple of months have passed, I checked my mail today and received a letter from a collections company pursuing a sum of $34 for CableOne. You have got to be kidding me!? I was told my account was closed in good standing. I never once received a letter, email, or phone call letting me know of this outstanding balance. Not a single notification. Instead I was sent directly to a debt collector. While I would have liked to know why I had an outstanding balance when I was told quite the opposite, I obviously would have paid the $34 if the charges were valid. I feel this is a very sad and devious way to conduct business. I get the feeling this was done out of spite for discontinuing their service. So much for a good recommendation. My credit score will obviously take a hit for such a petty amount. I will definitely share my experience with others. I am a Computer Science and Information Technology graduate, and I am often consulted by friends and family in matters of technological advice (e.g., computers, devices, internet providers). I will avidly go out of my way to share this experience with others in the hopes of preventing them from dealing with the likes of CableOne. read more

I had cable one 10 years ago and I was always happy with my service. I am moving so I decided to go with them again. I set up new service, paid my fee upfront and set up a installation date....IN ADVANCE! I called today to follow up because I am moving in tomorrow and they said it would be 10 more days. They also told me they called me yesterday which was a complete lie! They said they sent me an email which was another complete lie! Now I will have no internet and I work from home. I am FURIOUS! I planned in advance and ordered in advance and now I am completely scr***ed and need internet tomorrow! I told them to cancel my install and refund me my money. Their reply we will get back to you! Yeah sure you will like you did yesterday right! I just looked at the reviews and they are all HORRIABLE in Pocatello. Now I know why we are all stuck using Centurylink rather we like them or not! read more
