Excellent food and appetizers are plentiful. The honey dipping sauce is addictive. Service was great.

Spankys fan, but this beach side Spankys visit was terrible. Arrived and was told their would be a 25 minute wait. Cool. After the 25 minute wait the hostess tells us that if we were seated there would be a 45 minute delay on our food coming out because the fry cooked had burned his hand. I understood and felt sorry for the fry cook. Another couple who arrived after us requested to speak to the manager. She comes out and we inquire about a "parting gift", lol. We explained what the hostess stated about the injury and she looked oblivious and told us she was unaware of such incident. She stated she explained to the hostess that they were short staffed and behind. Oddly the hostess didn't return to the front. At that point we were perplexed as to why the hostess would lie. Something just didn't feel right. Totally an unpleasant experience. read more

Great service, cold beer, friendly servers, clean bathrooms, solid food. We were here for a day on the beach and this place hit the spot.

Had an awesome experience here! Staff was very friendly during our visit and made sure to check on everyone periodically. The food was full of flavor and the atmosphere was energetic. This is a wonderful place to grab a few friends and get some good food. Wait times are usually a little long but once you get in staff are really attentive to their guests and if you need something don't be afraid to flag someone down and ask! read more

My family and I ate here on our trip to Tybee Island. The chicken strips tasted fake, idk maybe they need to fry the chicken strips longer to be crispy also add a variety of seasonings. The chicken strips was bland. Service was decent. read more

me and a friend were coming in around 3:30 for some food we were greeted nicely and quickly sat. however, after ordering food we were told shift change was happening so we had to pay before even getting any of our food. after getting our food we were never seen again by another server we both waited looking around for someone to see us but no one did come over this was very poor service if our server is leaving we should be assigned a new one not just left to figure everything else like more drinks and boxes and if we wanted to get something else basically was self service . read more

Just stopped by to grab an order of the famous chicken fingers, which were highly recommended by a local friend. They didn't disappoint! Tasty and delicious, so are the spuds! read more

We popped into Spanky's looking for a a quick snack while visiting the island. It's a semi divey sports bar feel with a a ton of fried seafood and bar foods. We tried the fried shrimp basket which came with fries or their super unique chip/fry things which were basically battered slices of potatoes. I really enjoyed these a lot. The shrimp was also very good, fried crispy and cooked well, and the cocktail sauce was just ok. This seems like a good cheap spot for locals and tourist alike. read more

We got the chicken tenders and grouper. Both were absolutely AMAZING! Would 100% come back.

Good French fries. I ordered the chop chicken salad. Not only was it not chopped it was nothing more than iceberg lettuce, two tomato wedges and chicken. I thought the chicken was good. My kid did not care for the chicken fingers. The pluses were that It was inexpensive for the location to the beach and the staff was friendly. read more

My boyfriend (a Savannah native) brought me here for my birthday. It was about a 35 min wait so we walked down to a bar to grab a drink then on the beach for a few minutes to kill some time. We were seated and after a few mins our server came up, introduced herself and took our drink orders. We had so much going on between both of us having to take phone calls, then use the restroom and being indecisive. We took forever to actually order and she was SO VERY PATIENT with us! I believe her name was Helen or something like that. We ordered drinks and appetizers and even though they were super busy our food came pretty quickly! It was a great birthday dinner experience on the beach! Took a star for the super long bathroom line and it not being that clean and out of paper towels (I hate touching bathroom doors with wet hands) other than this will 100% come back! read more

We were at the beach and starving to death we ordered chicken tenders to go. These were THE BEST chicken fingers I have ever had! Definitely will be going back next time we are in tybee read more

212 feet from our towels on Tybee beach! Great blackened Mahi-Mahi sandwich with "spuds" (fried batter duped sliced potatoes) and battered chicken fingers. Great location to get out of the sun and fill up before heading back to the sand. Just remember not to go swimming for at least 30 minutes after eating at Spanky's- you won't leave hungry! read more

The waiter was very nice. Sounded like he is going through some rough times, but I hope he's okay. Guy eating next to us from NY said that everything on menu is good. Ordered the grouper fingers. Wish the fried basket was a little bigger but was still decent size for average person. SPUD POTATOES are awesome. Get spuds over French fries all day every day. Was a good experience. Would come back again over "The Deck". read more

We got the fried chicken fingers with a side of Buffalo sauce. Delicious! I'm not usually a fan of fried food but these were perfect- not heavy on the breading and not greasy at all! I also got their island breeze drink which was delicious and went down easy! read more

Fun little spot with some kick ass drinks! We tried 6 different ones and thought all were good, but the painkiller & Tybee blue were excellent. We had fried mushrooms, boiled shrimp, fried shrimp and grouper fingers. Really enjoyed everything and our waitress was really fun. Will come again:) read more

Every summer when we vacation in Savannah and head out to Tybee Island we make a stop here! I thought we might not be able to this year with COVID-19 going on but they were taking all the necessary precautions and we could dine in. We ordered chicken tenders and spuds like always and were not disappointed! They were great! The employees were wonderful as well! I definitely recommend making a stop here if you are on the island! read more

By far my greatest disappointment while visiting Tybee. We arrived with a 30 min wait, which was expected, we were actually pleased it wasn't longer but we were very hungry as we skipped lunch. We took the opportunity to look over the to go menu. The hostess who seated us was indifferent, not very welcoming and only gave 1 of the kids a kids menu to color on. It took 15 minutes to get the other one and then my child had to go stand and wait at the hostess podium to get it. We asked our waitress if we could order right away because we were starving, and she took our orders. We didn't get our appetizer until we got our salad which was the same time we got our dinner. We weren't happy. We had to ask repeatedly for drink refills, condiments, etc...service was terrible. It even took 10 minutes for her to take our payment...I left my bf inside to pay and took kids to the car. Food oh my gosh: Son ordered chicken fingers and fries. Fries were like great value precooked frozen crinkle fries, so gross not even a 6 yr old ate them. Chicken he said was greasy and chewy so I tried them and he was right...yuck. My daughter ordered a hot dog, waited so long for mustard that she gave up and ate it plain. She too tried the fries and wouldn't eat them. My boyfriend had a chicken sandwhich and salad which he admitted was mediocre at best. I love seafood. I have liver disease and cannot have much fat or grease, so I ordered GRILLED shrimp and GRILLED scallops along with crab cakes and a baked potatoe and salad. The salad was freezing cold with no flavor. Potatoe was warm, but not hot enough to melt the solid cold pat of butter. The crab cakes were just yucky...I think they were deep fried instead of pan seared and more stuffing than crab. I ate 1 shrimp and 1 scallop that were so drenched in grease (please see puddle of grease on bed of lettuce) that it literally made me sick. Overall horrible experience at Spanky's and I do not recommend it for anyone. read more

Bartender was great - grouper basket was really really good and loved the fried shrimp appetizer!!

We were pleasantly surprised with our visit. The food came up quickly and we all loved what we had. I specifically ordered the chicken tenders and thought they were fantastic. My only complaints: A little more pricey than I would have liked but it is on an island. Plus the wait staff struggled to keep up with drinks with our large party and we often found ourselves tracking someone down. read more

A group of my friends and I were in the area for a mutual friend's wedding and we decided to stop by here for lunch. It was just after lunch and this place was really busy! Fortunately there was no wait for a table as one had just opened up for us. We were seated and the waitress came by quickly and took our drink orders. She quickly returned with our drinks and took our food order. This place has a lot of seafood (obviously), as well as regular American fare (hamburgers, etc). What came by our table did smell pretty good too. I ordered a crab cake sandwich with "wedges" and a Caesar side salad. After a few minutes the salads were delivered and we tore into them. They were pretty decent and good sized for a "side" salad. Just as we finished our meal, a runner came by with some food. We all commented on out fast it was. Unfortunately, the food was not ours. Our salad plates were collected and we waited....and waited... and waited... and waited... oh, and then waited some more for our meal. *Finally* our meal came. All the hot food was piping hot and delicious, but I'm not sure that it was worth the wait. The crab cake sandwich was just the right size and had just the right proportion of crab vs. cake. All your sauces come in 4 oz cups so that you dish out as much sauce as you want. The "wedges" were very lightly breaded wide slices of potato, and then fried. They were very good, albeit very hot and inedible (for fear of burning my mouth and tongue) for the first half of my meal. When it came time for dessert, I had no more room. However one of my friends (and a fellow Yelp! reviewer) had the Key Lime Pie. It looked very tasty and like a real Key Lime pie and not like those wannabe Key Lime pies served inland. I even got to sneak a taste of said pie and it was very delicious... I wish I had room for more. Once presented with our checks, I noticed that gratuity was already added (at 18%). If given the choice, I probably would have tipped 20%, but since they forced me to tip 18%, that's all she got. (I am not a fan of auto-gratuity - I don't care if it's store policy or not). This place was good for a meal, the service was decent, but the kitchen was very slow. Do not expect this to be a quick meal. The view of the beach (and the girls in bikinis) was awesome. Definitely a place to try if you haven't been here before. Maybe next time I'll go back just for dessert! read more

Listen up: the word is that the spuds are thinly sliced potatoes fried in chicken batter. The confirmation on the word is that they are delish. Chicken and grouper was good, but a smidgen greasy. Would eat here again, but the grouper baskets wish they had gotten my spuds. Until next time - get full friends. ‼ Side note: the waitress continued to squirt me with the table cleaning bottle accidentally. Stop doing that. read more

Piss poor service. The hostess was beyond rude and chose to refuse us service because we were a party of 8. Do not visit.

Spanky's is currently limiting dine-in service to maintain spaced seating. We called for carry out but decided to drive over when no one answered. Kitchen was slammed with carry out orders but the server at the bar was super nice and although busy with orders and processing charges, took my order. Returned in 25 minutes and everything was packed ready to go. Food was hot and good- chicken fingers were definitely very good. Only complaints- fries and pasta alfredo were underseasoned. read more

After 3 days on Tybee Island I feel I can safely say that Spanky's is the most reasonably priced food one can find on the island. As an added bonus, the food was very good, the portions were large (my companion and I split a meal), the service was both fast and friendly. read more

We were in town from Jacksonville for the long New Years weekend. We stumbled upon this place because we went to the beach for NYE fireworks (even though the city cancelled them) and the restaurant is right on the beach walk. We enjoyed the vibe and food at Spanky's. I had the fired chicken tender basket with spuds (fried potatoes) and it was all delicious. My hubby had the cheeseburger and he said it was decent - not great. Our waiter, Warren, was fantastic. He was so busy managing many tables and requests but his service was outstanding. read more

Husband and I went in around noon on Wednesday. Decent crowd already in restaurant and we were seated right away. I didn't get our servers name but she had blond hair and she was outstanding. I had the grapefruit mule which i was weary about because it has tequila in it but is was sweet and strong and delicious. Husband had shrimp po boy and is was amazing and shrimp were plenty and tasted clean and fresh. I ordered the crab cakes appetizer for my entree and they were only okay and I would not recommend or order them again. They tasted old and not fresh and too salty. Server offered us cocktails/drinks to-go and I ordered a traditional piña colada with whip cream in a plastic cup and it was simply marvelous. Would order it again! read more

This place was alright, the scenery and the service was nice but it took a long time ( about 30 minutes) before we got our food. To me some of the food they had was pretty bland, like the quesadilla and the fries, but the shrimp basket was pretty tasty. I'd give it a 50/50 read more

Spanky's Beachside restaurant is a wonderful restaurant here on Tybee Island. They always have a great draft beer selection. The shrimp basket is amazing. You can get it fried, blackened, or boiled. Great location that is right near the pier and the beach and the parking lot, and the food is OK. Nothing super fancy or incredible, but it was solid and convenient. If I'm in the area again I might try another place, but if you're in the area, it is a solid option. read more

It just took too long for our food. We went for lunch and it was not crowded. We went to the bar for carry out. The bartender was great. That is why they got two stars; but her greatest could not make up for the fact it took way too long for our cold food to come. Actually she had to go get it. People who ordered after us got their food before us. Not just one person but four different orders. Did I mention it was cold and ended up tasting just ok. We are not going back. read more

It has been years since I was last at Spanky's but since I had such amazing service before I thought it would be fun to try them again since I was in the area. I can during off season so they weren't busy at all but appeared to have plenty of staff wondering around with nothing to do. I followed the sign to wait to be seated.....but after the 20th person who walked by and never acknowledged me (and now others) standing in line it was starting to rub folks the wrong way. Finally I asked a wait staff who walked by if we could be seated. As she was walking away she said she would get someone. Really annoyed me because she saw all of us standing there and didn't seem to give a rats a__ before about getting a staff member to seat us. Others in line left but I was curious to know how much longer I'd be standing there. After about 15 minutes I was seated. No apologizes.....nothing. I ordered a burger and the waitress was very friendly and was on top of the drink orders. I took this experience as the last supper though. I will never come back to this establishment ever again. There are many other wonderful restaurants on the island to enjoy and you'll be treated with more dignity than Spanky's. read more
