From scheduling to post massage, space does a thorough job of customer service. I called in a day before I wanted my massage thinking I'd have to wait until next week since it was already getting closer to the end of the week. John put me on the schedule the next day with Cory for a signature massage. At first I wasn't sure what was going to happen because I originally told him I wanted to do Thai but based on the symptoms I had it just turned into a regular massage. I went in without knowing the take of your shoe before coming in policy. So be sure to take your shoes off at the door! I got a big room to myself. Had ample of room and time to get undressed and get under the covers. I can see they are considerate as they have a hair tie off the side. As I'm always struggling to remember to bring something to these type of sessions so I was appreciative that they thought ahead. Started out asking for the areas of focus so Cory knew where to focus on. Immediately asked about the pressure and was very consistent for the entire 60 minutes. Very attentive as he did ask whenever i stiffened a bit at the pain once in a while. I usually don't fully fall asleep in these sessions but I passed out cold. Holy Cow! I just had the best massage I've had in a long time. It's been so challenging to find someone who's not timid about applying the pressure required to loosen the muscles in my back and shoulders. Kayt was my massage therapist...fantastic experience with her! 5 STARS without a doubt!! ANYONE WHO GOES HERE WILL HAVE A GREAT EXPERIENCE!!! She has a unique energy about her, and with the fact that I have had many massages over the past 10 or so years, the experience I had with her will stay was memorable. And I slept well last night! The aromatherapy and hot stone additions were fantastic as well!! Set your appt. today! I would definitely recommend Kayt to anyone looking for a great massage that leaves you feeling refreshed and like a new person. I'm sure the other therapists in their office are fantastic as well, but I can speak only to my experience. However, the pictures and bios on the web site all look great and like people who care and attentive, so I can assume any client will be in good hands, and I'm sure they are all great healers. I've worked in different capacities, which is part of why I appreciate Kayt's approach so much...I have worked in retail/sales, other customer service positions, and my own career is in healthcare. In my opinion, the best kind of massage experience is the one in which the practitioner starts and proceeds with the massage, using her intuitive and kinesthetic reasoning in order to sense what areas need the most attention, regardless of what areas a client circles on the intake form. Thank you, Kayt! She is the perfect balance of strength and gentleness in her approach to massage. I wouldn't want a single thing changed. It is the entire experience that she created in the room that makes it so memorable. The above is the main message of my review. I recommend basing your decision on whether or not to get a massage here on the above comments. Below is my own ranting about a minor part of my experience with this business, and the length of the comments below reflects my own experience, again, so in no way is it meant to discourage anyone from going here, because you definitely should get a massage here! We all have things about people from time to time that may bug us. I should say that Kayt listened to my feedback about the below with grace and respect, so again, I very much appreciate how she handled my complaint. With that said, one thing I've learned in over a decade of working in my field, and even before that in jobs I held is that, when a person in a position of service makes a mistake, taking responsibility for a blunder goes a long way. In that moment, there is an opportunity to make it right and to create a great experience for a customer/client. With that said, I did not have a positive experience with the person who answered the phone when I initially called to set the appt. He told me he would send an email with details about my appt, and I even spelled out my email for him more than once. Maybe 10 or so minutes after the call had ended, I called him back to let him know I did not get any email. He made no effort to address that and sounded indifferent. He then said he would text me at the number I provided earlier, but then just texted me at the number I called on (a different phone number). Perhaps I caught this person on a "bad day", and we certainly all have them, but that's on him, not me. I think his behavior went beyond someone having a bad day. He should own it and, especially in his line of work, should know that a potential customer (especially a first-time one) can be turned away with that kind of phone manner. Despite the above grumbling, my main point is that anyone in a position of service to others (and certainly in the massage business), putting in ZERO effort to correct mistakes (as human beings, we all make them) just plain sucks. When I called back without having received an email or any other information, and the guy didn't show any reaction, even something simple like, "Hey, my mistake!", that was very off-putting. What added to that was that I never got an email from him. The text he eventually sent me (to the wrong phone number, not the one he asked me to give him) demonstrated more indifference and laziness, and was a very crudely written message about the parking lot, and it was as if I was a courier delivering a package or something to their office. It was as if he just wanted to get the information he needed from me for my appt and then to hang up. I found his overall behavior or be quite rude, in case you can't tell! Often, when people call in for a massage, they are doing so because they need to relax from life's stressors. This poor phone manner does not help. read more

I had an opportunity to get into Space for a massage while traveling to Phoenix this week and it changed my week entirely! After moving and being sick with a sinus infection I had little to no time to recuperate before a business trip came up. I called and by chance was able to confirm a (90!!) minute massage with John, the owner of Space. John was fantastic. He made me feel very comfortable and I relaxed immediately. The techniques he used worked so well that my headache was relieved and my knots were gone. I cannot tell you how important a good massage is and I try to have them regularly. However, Space is located inside the humble abode of master massage therapist John Hill. I can only dream of having such prime locale for a home, let alone a business. INTRO: Ring the door bell and John invites you into his home. He's genuinely interested in your day and asks about your lifestyle, physical needs, special requests, habits and personal interests. The causal intro makes you feel relaxed and welcomed like a returning dinner guest. We chatted about life in Arizona, business, busy lifestyles and desperate need to unwind and indulge in a restorative massage. THE STUDIO: After you've enjoyed the B&B-like hospitality, John leads you next door to the massage studio where a serene setting with diffused natural light, warm wood floors, relaxing music and delicately scented candles await. The expert attention to detail is evident as all five senses are instantly relaxed when you step into the studio. Everything is customized. John asks me about my music preference, desired room temperature, lighting... nothing is left to chance. Everything is about my needs. THE MASSAGE: 60 minutes felt like 60 hours. Using the consultation, he mapped out a battle plan to conquer my ailments. John zeros in on the problem areas but also hits the unexpected spots that truly alleviate my tension and stress. This is ultra-comfort and affordable (mandatory) luxury. EMBARRASSING MOMENT: I'm a terrible customer. I failed to read the "cash or check preferred" statement on Space Massage Studio's site! John was kind enough offer an alternative PayPal payment option, but to my horror... it didn't work. Nor did my debit card withdrawal at LGO's dreaded ATM! John never fretted during the entire situation. In fact, he just smiled and suggested I mail him a check at my convenience. Long story short, I left, then returned 15 mins later with the cash in hand. He was a saint. WHY I LOVE IT: Visiting Space is like visiting a friend's house for dinner. You're instantly welcomed and pampered as an honored guest. John isn't just a massage therapist. He's a muscle rehabilitator in many aspects. He really wants to try to get to the root of your pain or soreness, not only through massage, but through adequate prevention, whether it's through change in posture, or relaxation techniques that you can do outside of his studio. The studio itself has moved from its original location, 4 blocks away in a professional building complex. His studio is on the 2nd floor, and while there is a parking lot, about half of the spots are reserved parking, which can mean there is a paucity of spots during busy times of the day. After filling out the new client form, John went over all the questions, and discussed probable causes of muscle soreness and tension, and ways to ease up on tension in my everyday life. While your typical idea of a "deep tissue" massage involves hard kneading at your muscles, possibly causing some additional soreness to relieve those tight knots post-massage, John operates on a different modality. He prefers to use various techniques to relax the muscles without causing post-massage pain, which is counter-intuitive to him. During the massage, he used a mixture of different massage techniques, from stretching, to shiatsu, adding heat to further ease muscle tension. Each massage is specially tailored to your situation. John carefully thinks about all aspects of massage, even using a special almond oil because those with nut allergies will not have problems with it (Technically, an almond is a seed). Ever get one of those days where you just wake up angry? (Or maybe it's just me) Well, I was having one of those days, but after my massage, I was feeling great! I was ready to take on the world with a relaxed and refreshed demeanor. The price of a 60 minute massage is $80, regardless of type. John operates as a one-man-show, doing the booking and confirmations himself. I was lost, but now I'm found! After seeking out the answer to my massage prayers, I thought I found it. The massages weren't ever perfect, but almost perfect. I've had my fair share of horrible massages and so when I found a place that could release my pain, I didn't want to look elsewhere.... Until he found me. John saw a bad massage review I made and sent me a message. I've seen his business with raving reviews before and I was somewhat skeptical. I'm a creature of habit and didn't want to look elsewhere for a massage, but I thought, "it can't be any worse than what I've had before, right?! And who knows? Maybe he can help me, release me from this pain, and set me free?" I booked an appointment and I walk into this very zen, calm, cute room and I see John. He spends a good 10-15 minutes talking about my pain, what am I looking for in a massage, and studying me to help me. He was so passionate about knowing and helping me. He said he works differently and I didn't know what he meant at the time. I walk into his massage room and when I lay on the massage table, it was then I turned a new leaf. The last time I visited was in March 2020 before the pandemic had caused the studio to cancel any additional appointments into March/April. So much has changed over the year! My appointment yesterday was for a prenatal massage as I'm currently 22 weeks (5 months) pregnant. MegAnne helped me feel totally comfortable about what she would do to take care of me during the appointment, and the pressure she used truly helped me relax even as she worked on some problem areas of my lower back (thanks pregnancy). I went to Space Massage Studio this past Saturday because my boyfriend bought me a gift card for Christmas. This was my first massage, so I didn't really know what to expect. I had an appointment with Stacey, and when I told her this was my first one, I could tell she genuinely wanted to give me the best possible experience. And she set the bar very high!! I work out regularly and have pretty tight and sore muscles everywhere, and when I was leaving from the massage I literally felt like a new person. My body has not felt that good in ages! Stacey did an amazing job, and I felt totally comfortable and relaxed the entire time. From the music to the warm towels to the thing she used to cover my eyes, it was one of those experiences where she provided everything I could need to be more relaxed - things I didn't even know were missing but would have wanted if I didn't have them, if that makes sense lol.
